Help me to migrate from asp

hi,
i have experience only with asp until now.
i want to start developing in jsp.
i have win2k server os and i want to start developing
jsp files.
i've been told that there are some utility called jRun
that enables running jsp files on IIS server.
is it true? where can i download it?
what should i do to run jsp files on win2k iis server?
thanks,
yoni, israel

If I were you and wanted to learn JPS, you might as well go open source. You can use apache as the web server and then for the application server you could use Jarkta(might be spelled wrong). If you go to apache.org you can download the software.

  • Migrating from ASP to JSP

Hi all, I'm new to this forum.
I'm currently evaluating a migration from IIS to Webserver 7 (Solaris).
Right now we have a bunch of Unix/BSD doing inverse-proxy on the Windows ones, and in order to simplify, I got this brilliant - that's sarcasm - idea... I promised more speed and security, without too much difficulty...
Next, I installed Solaris 10 on one server, and after setup webserver 7, I realized that it's not possible (at least at the moment) to install ASP with version 7.
I already was willing to work the code in order to adapt it from the Microsoft ASP to the Sun one.
So having to decide between go back to webserver 6.x or adapt the ASP code to JSP, I'm considering the last one. I belong to those who think a native solution is better than any pluggin or something like that.
So far, so good... but then I got stuck. In the whole application (in fact by my suggestion and insistence - my big mouth again -) we used the getstring method from ADODB a lot, which returns the values in the recordset into a formatted string, based on patterns. We can get XML, HTML table, JS arrays, etc. in the blink of an eye.
I tried to google it, but find anything in JSP that allows me to do this without any loop, the (BIG) improvement in performance (my main argument for the change) was dramatic once we take out the loops, and it allowed us to make deeper changes in the code. They can beat-the-damm-loop-out-of-me, if I try to get those loops back
Does somebody knows a workaround in JSP?

    Thanks for your quick response.
Usually there is no problem with use the output parameter as nvarchar in our Stored Procedures (mssql), in fact I was trying that this weekend as alternative, but this add complexity to the SP and drop the performance.
I guess I can take the time to optimize the SQL code, and maintaining backward compatibility for any other system that uses it, but there is a lot of another applications (desktop and web) that use those procedures, and the cost is overwhelming.
Is a lot better to reimplement the "while (Recordset.next()){" instead of mess with the backbone of our applications.
If there is no replacement for the ASP getstring, maybe I need to downgrade to webserver 6.x, (in order to install ASP) or try to implement some similar myself in JSP as a class or something, and test the performance.

    Hi All,
I need help migrating mailboxes from a separate forest / domain using exchange 2010 to our Exchange 2007 SP3 servers..  I am following this procedure:
    1. On source server, create a mailbox user, test01.
    2. On target server, run the following command to move the AD account:
Prepare-MoveRequest.Ps1 -Identity [email protected] -RemoteForestDomainController FQDN.source.com -RemoteForestCredential $Remote -LocalForestDomainController FQDN.target.com -LocalForestCredential $Local -UseLocalObject -Verbose"
    3. Run the ADMT to migrate the password and SID history.
    4. Run the following command to move the mailbox:
New-MoveRequest -Identity '[email protected]' -RemoteLegacy -RemoteTargetDatabase DB03 -RemoteGlobalCatalog 'GC01.humongousinsurance.com' -RemoteCredential $Cred -TargetDeliveryDomain 'mail.contoso.com'
    (Changed all the details obviously)
It gets to 95% and shows this error

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you follow the steps below for troubleshooting:
Open the problematic user in AD and check the Email Address. Verify if you can open or edit the x400 address. If no, remove the x400 address and recreate it. If yes, ensure that the name is spelt correctly. After that, continue to move the mailbox and check
    the result.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Help! Executing SQL from ASP

    This is my Code..
    Set OraSession = CreateObject("OracleInProcServer.XOraSession")
    Set OraDatabase = OraSession.DbOpenDatabase(strDB, strID & "/" &
    strPASS, 0)
    OraDatabase.DbExecuteSQL("DELETE tmp_clean;")
It then runs a SQL statement which populates the table
tmp_clean. I don't really want to have to write a procedure to
do this. It seems not to like the semi colon, but with out it
it doesn't execute the SQL. Please Help.

It's okay, I worked it out. I hadn't done a COMMIT from my SQL
Plus session, so the table was still empty, and it musn't like
    that.

  • Help! Virtualze/migrating from Netware 6.0 + DirXML1.1a

    Hi,
Background: We are in the process of rolling out IDM361 to our production environment. We have a mix of Netware 5, 6, 6.5 and Linux OES2 servers. We use DirXML1.1a to sync with MAD (Windows 2000 Servers) and IDM361 is replacing this.
Problem: The server that runs DirXML1.1a is on Netware 6.0. We do not want to break this system as it currently manages user and password sync to MAD. But we also need to roll out "Universal Password" to enable IDM361 to perform the same user and password sync. We don't want to perform a BIGBANG cutover if it can be avoided!!
Request: What we're looking for is some suggestions (and comments) on how to proceed with the Netware 6.0 box. Below are a few we have come up with...
    Possible scenarios:
#1 - Virtualize the Netware 6.0 box, then upgrade to Netware 6.5 and hope that DirXML1.1a doesn't break. What products can we use to do this? Platespin and Portlock have been mentioned.
#2 - Build from scratch a new Netware 6.5 box with the same name. Install DirXML1.1a, replicate partitions and import the old drivers. Remove old Netware 6.0 box and join new Netware 6.5 box to the tree then hope and pray that it works.
#3 - Prepare for a long DirXML1.1a outage. Remove Netware 5 and 6 boxes from the tree, stop the sync and roll out "Universal Password". Fire up IDM361, apply the user and password sync policies and migrate all users.
As mentioned before, we would prefer to run both systems in parallel and slowly migrate users across the IDM361 if possible. I know that Netware 6.0 is no longer supported so that's why we are looking to the forums for answers.
    Many thanks!
    Andrew Tan..

If name is not an issue, you can likely set up your replacement server
with the latest IDM and have it sync only one of container with AD as a
test and leave the old setup in place, until you're ready to cut over.
I'm sure a fair number of people have had to do the same in the past - I
have some customer gone through similar but they didn't have to make such
a drastic jump from DirXML 1.1a ... but I'm not a liberty to discuss those
    due to confidiality.

  • Need help in migration from Layer2 to layer3

    HI Guys
Need u r help in migration from layer2 switched network to layer3.
here is the setup there are 9 sites connected with a 10gig backbone in a ring.each site has a 6513 but at the data centre site we having two 6513.we are having a combination of voice and data vlans.at present all the sites are connected with layer2 trunks.all the trunks are teminated at the core ie datacentre site.so how should i procedd and what are the advantages of it ie migration.
    Thanks
    Mahmood

For this migration you first need to assign IP addresses to your connections between switches. This could be /30 (or /31, if supported) subnets. You should also consider running some dynamic routing protocol such as OSPF between switches.
    Hope this helps.

Just got a new imac and my iwork software wont work. I have the serial numbers but after migrating from my old mac running OSX tiger it won't even give me that opportunity. I do not have any discs as this was downloaded. Help

Hi, hopefully you guys can help me out, I just
purchased a G5 iMac to replace my aging dell desktop,
and now i'm more or less completely os x dependant
(I've had an ibook for a few months now). Anyway, I
    have a few questions:
    1. Does anyone know of a (free) mail notifier tool,
that will alert me when I recieve new pop3 mail? I
used to use AIM for this in windows
The built in email program does sound an alert for new messages.
    2. Anyone know of a good (free, again) IRC client?
    iChat works well.
    3. I noticed earlier that my screen was flickering,
it seems to have subsided for now, but is that normal
to encounter in a new display? It wasn't really bad
flicker, but I could see it.
    No idea.
    4. I leave my desktops on 24/7x365, will that be a
problem with this iMac? Display shuts off of course
    after 30 mins
You could set the iMac to go to sleep after non use. My Macs are
always sleeping when not in use, waking them up takes seconds.
Unlike windoze, never knew if it would be locked up or not.
    5. Should I get the extended warranty? I'm usually
against them, but I am expecting this computer to
last me at least 3 years (for $1300 it better!)
before I upgrade, as I got that much out of a Dell
and from what I understand, Mac's do not age nearly
    as fast as Windows pc's.
It is well worth the cost. Never know what might happen. Also
it is good insurance for future upgrades. I traded in my G4 tower
purchased two years ago for 75% of what I paid for it. Apple care
transfers, giving the buyer the remainder of your warranty.
    Thank you for any help,
    -Evan

  • Severe Time Drifting after Migration from 10.5.8 - Help!

Hey everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me out or shed some light on a very odd issue that came about this morning.  I'm really having a hard time figuring out a fix.
I recently upgraded one of my old Mac mini servers to some new, (to me), hardware.  The old server was a last-gen G4, and the new one is a late 2006 Intel.
The migration went totally fine, and all services are responding and working as expected.  This server really isn't used for all that much, so I didn't anticipate any real issues in upgrading from 10.5.8 (PPC) to 10.6.7 (Intel).  But after checking everything over this afternoon, I landed on a really weird issue.
I can literally watch the time progress slower on this server.  Really.  The seconds pass slower, and after about an hour, it will be up to five minutes behind all the other servers in my infrastruture.  The server is setup to watch time.apple.com as it's NTP, and there's no change with another NTP server.  I can grep the NTPd and it seems to be working fine.  I've "started fresh" by removing ntp.conf and ntp.drift, rebooted, and had NTPd recreate them after setting new time and date preferences.  That seems to have helped a *bit* but it's still persisting.  Time zone information is correct.  I've even turned off time sync altogether and it still persists, so it's got to be a local issue with the system.
Now, after some pondering, I believe I know what's causing the issue.  The person I inherited the server from replaced the stock 1.5 Core Solo with a 1.66 Core Duo, which I've seen done plenty of times before, and never heard any real issues with.  And I did physically check the upgrade, and everything seems to be perfect.  The system sees both cores fine, and everything is stable.  Except this very odd time/clock issue.  This is the only root cause that I can possibly think of for it doing this.
And what's odd, is that if the time is wrong in the menu bar, and I go into the Time and Date prefpane, it instantly updates to the right time.
Now really, this isn't *that* big of a deal for this server.  None of it's services rely on perfect time, (Kerberos and whatnot), but it's still rather annoying, especially for Time Machine backups.  My main curiousity is if anyone knows how to increase the interval for NTP syncing with time.apple.com, so it'll check every hour or so, (I believe it checks every 12 by default.  Correct me if I'm wrong).
    TL;DR
After migrating from Leopard Server (PPC) to Snow Leopard Server (Intel), my system clock is running about five minutes slow per hour.  Suspecting processor upgrade is to blame.  How can I increase NTP syncing interval with time.apple.com?
    Thanks in advance everyone!

You can add/modify the minpoll and maxpoll values in ntp.conf.  This should allow you to set the time poll and reset a bit more aggressively.
The Xeon chips have been notorious for time skew.  I've not seen the same with CoreDuo and Core2Duo.
You may also just want to periodically stop and start the NTP process.  This can be down using systemsetup command:  systemsetup -setusingnetworktime on/off
In corporate environments with Windows time servers that reboot frequently, I tend to automate a script that stops network time, waits a few seconds, and then starts it again.  This will force a sync.
Hope this helps.  Oh, and by the way, time is critically importation to Kerberos authentication and authorization from the client.  Next the DNS, time is the most common cause of access denial.  Keep DNS and time healthy.

  • Potential Problem in migration from 8.1.5 to 9i - Help!!

    Hi,
We are in the process of migrating our Oracle 8.1.5 Server to Oracle 9i. Till now we have not faced any issue. Came to know that the logic for sort is opposite as in the case of 8.5x and above releases. This should not have any issues in our case, i guess.
Any help as to on which cases (examples) does it have an impact?
Other than this, is there any potential problem, which you feel should bother us?

  • Migrating from JavaHelp to Oracle Help for Java

Currently we have a product in which we have implemented Sun Microsystem's JavaHelp as the Help delivery system. However, after evaluating Oracle Help for Java we would like to migrate from Javahelp to OHJ.
My question is, how difficult would this migration be from the Development side? I have been reviewing the Oracle Help for Java Developer's Guide and comparing it against the JavaHelp documentation but I haven't been able to get a clear idea of how different the implementation is.
    Thanks,
    Theresa

    Hello Theresa,
    Thanks for considering Oracle Help.
There isn't much you have to do with your source content and control files. With the exception of the full text search index, the Oracle Help control file formats (helpset, index, map, etc.) extend the JavaHelp formats. So you can use the JavaHelp control files as is, or you can extend them with the Oracle Help extensions. For a quick overview of differences, see the following page in the Oracle Help Guide:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Oracle Help File Formats."
    3. Click "Comparision to Javahelp File Formats."
To create an Oracle Help full text search index, run through the Helpset Authoring Wizard and remove the existing JavaHelp search view and have the wizard generate an Oracle Help Search index
on the following wizard page. For the Helpset Authoring Wizard doc:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Authoring Oracle Help Systems."
    3. Click "Using the HelpSet Authoring Wizard."
Alternatively, change the helpset file by hand. For the doc:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Oracle Help File Formats."
    3. Click "Helpset File."
Then run the indexer. For doc:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Authoring Oracle Help Systems."
    3. Click "Using the Full-text Search Indexer."
On the development side, the APIs are different, but they are also very
simple. You create a Help object, add HelpSets, and associate topic-ids
with java UI components using the CSHManager as described in the
    Oracle Help Guide:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Oracle Help for Java Developer's Guide."

Is the HDD in the 2009 15" MBP dead?  (The original source of your data)  If not, you might want ot take it out and put it in an enclosure.
You might try spotlight on know files to see if that gives you any clues where your data is located.
You might down load from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it.  It should show you all of the files you have on your MBP and enable to locate them.
    Ciao.

  • Migrating from Red Brick database to Oracle 11g -Need help with the process

    Hi,
I am on this new project were we are migrating from IBM Red Brick Data Warehouse to Oracle 11g. We have a very tight time line. I was hoping if any of you have done this migration before and are willing to share their experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get a brief idea about how to go about the process.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
that is a matter of supply and demand, and as the demand to migrate Red Brick to Oracle RDBMS is very low, Oracle never included Red Brick into the migration tools.
If you search in the forums for Red Brick, you will not find much more than this one from the year 2006:
Re: Migration from rebrick 6.0.3 to Oracle 9i
    Options:
In general we have the following options:
    1. Oracle Migration Workbench
    2. SQL Developer Migration Workbench
    3. Generic Connectivity
    4. SQL*Loader
Regarding your dedicated foreign database, option 1 and 2 fail as those tools
do not work against Red Brick DB.
Generic Connectivity would be an option if you have an ODBC driver to this database.
In this dedicated case, you can then set up generic connectivity (= a database
link to the foreign database using odbc).
The Oracle database we support generic connectivity can reside on Windows,
    Solaris, HP-UX, AIX and Linux.
If the Oracle database is on any other platform, you might migrate to a
database on this platform, then export the migrated DB and then load it into
    the real target db.
Generic Connectivity will allow you to perform a SQL*Plus copy of tables; this
means you can create tables like they are defined in your source and transfer
the data to the Oracle db; but no procedures, triggers or anything coded can be
    transferred.
Last option (4) is that you generate "flat files". This means ASCII-SPOOL
Files and then import them using SQL*Loader. As far as I know there is no
existing SQL*Loader sample file for Red Brick databases exports and you need to
    write them on your own.
I recommend to read also the following note in My Oracle Support:
Note 233876.1: Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases
    Best regards
    Wolfgang
