HELP, my iphone4 won't power on or charge

My Iphone 4s got so hot I couldn't touch it a few days ago, and now it has powered off and I can't get it to charge or power on, help??

This is sounding like something that would be best addressed by an Apple technician. You can take it to an Apple Store if you have one near you or contact Apple at the appropriate phone number from this list.

My kid just got a brand new iPod 5th generation (today from Santa) and it won't power up or charge. The only response is when I connect the USB and press the power button or front button the Battery appears with red line on left and lightning symbol below. There is no other response at all no matter what I do, including holding both buttons down for extended period.  My other kid got one and it works perfectly.....I have interchanged usb cables ports etc. but still no response....I would really appreciate any help.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you have a hardware problem with the iPod. This is because as you said the same cable works with another iPod.

  • Q5 won't power up or charge

Hello - my phone won't turn on or charge. It also won't do anything when I hold the volume buttons for 20 seconds or hold the power button.  I cannot access the battery in the Q5.  Very frustrated.  I just had the screen replaced 2 weeks ago - it has worked fine until now.  Help would be appreciated.

Reload Device Software. If that doesn't help im afraid it's a hardware issue's take it back to the carrier..

  • Won't power on, or charge

    Have you tried a reset?

  • Help! PowerBook Won't Power On and Start Up!!!

    Hi All,
I’m hoping someone out there can help! My PowerBook G4 15 Inch (Original model) won’t start at all. When I push the power button, nothing happens. Nothing at all. No lights, no sounds, no fan, nothing. It was working fine when I put it away on a shelf in my closet about a year ago, but when I took it out to look up a document, I found that I couldn’t turn it on. It hasn’t been dropped, knocked, exposed to water, etc. It’s literally just been sitting on a shelf for about a year. Some information which may help:
    1. It appears that the battery does not hold a charge anymore, because I left the laptop plugged in overnight and the indicator lights on the battery still do not light at all when the power status button on the battery is pressed. However, I don’t think this should affect startup when the AC adapter is plugged in – the PowerBook should start up regardless of the power status of the battery. (By the way, I know that the AC adapter is good because I tried it on a friend’s PowerBook and it works fine.)
    2. I’ve already reset the PMU (several times) by pushing the little button on the rear of the PowerBook with the end of a paper clip. That doesn’t change anything either.
    3. I’ve removed the battery and left the laptop plugged in for approximately 15 hours just in case the internal PRAM battery needed a charge after having been stored for so long. No luck there, either.
I can’t understand what could have happened to it just sitting on a shelf! I had another Mac laptop sitting right next to it for the same amount of time, and that one started up just fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be and a potential solution(s)?
Many many thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

it seems fairly cheap and easy to fix
Yes, which is why I'd tackle that first. My first suggestion would have been to try the power adapter with a meter or on another Mac or check, but you're a step ahead of me on that, so aside from a possible, but highly improbable death while resting on the shelf, the b.u./PRAM batt is the obvious issue.
I do hope that's what this turns out to be
Me too. It'd be worth it for your time and money, whereas other, major, components would likely not be cost effective, given the PB's age.
I'll update with a post when I know more.
    Please do, and good luck!

  • Help: PowerMac G3 won't power up!

Neither the keyboard power switch or the one on the CPU will work. It's been finnicky lately...won't stay on, trouble turning it on. Now this... Power supply maybe? Any ideas or suggestions--THANKS!

Could be a discharged internal memory battery. Check this site for battery part numbers and sources.

  • My iphone 4 won't power on after charging? HELP

    Hey noahkesevie!
I have an article for you that can help you further troubleshoot the issue you are seeing. The article is about troubleshooting a multitude of hardware issues on the iPhone, and can be found right here:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
You will want to pay special attention to this section:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,

  • HELP! Computer Won't Power UP!

Guys, my computer was doing awesome up until this evening.  I had it on yesterday and it was fine.  I when to turn it on tonight and nothing!  I've done nothing to it and it's new....only about 4 months old.  I think it's the PSU that's gone bad.  The only thing that has been strange one of my fans is making a noise.  I thought it was my NB fan but now I think it's my PSU.
When I say I get no power, I mean NO POWER!  No LED's come on, no fans turn NOTHING.  Like I said, I've done nothing to it either.  I have an Enermax 530 Watt PSU and it's new as well as my whole system that I just upgraded.  Don't you guys also think it's my PSU since I'm getting no power at all?.  Man, I hope this is the problem.  I can handle things going wrong but if you don't know what it is that just burns me up!
Here are my system specs in any case.
    A64 X2 4400+
    MSI K8N Neo4 Plat
    Lite-On 1693S DVD-Burner
    Lite-On DVD
    Seagate 250GB SATA HD
    WD 80GB PATA HD
    Sound Blaster Live! Sound Card
    Enermax 530 Watt PCI-E PSU

Thanx for replying.  I've done the wall socket thing at the beginning and nada. I also checked all the connections as well.  Now I don't have another PCI-E PSU but will a older PSU work?  That is one has only 20 pins instead of 24.  I can use my older Antec 430 Watt PSU but it's for AGP boards and lacks the 4 pins you need for PCI-E.  I thought I read that those PSU's will work with PCI-E mobo's....you just have to move the attachment over to the far left and 4 pins will be open on the board.
I'll have to look how to short two pins on the PSU since I don't know how to do that.  Also I didn't realize there was a fuse in the PSU and if there is how do I check it without voiding the warranty.  I thought that if you open the PSU that it voids the warranty.  I don't want to do that obviously since I'll be sending it back.  The stupid thing is only 4 months old.  Right now I'm leaning heavily that it's the PSU that's bad though.  Can you confirm if I can use a 20 pin PSU with a 24-pin mobo?  If so I'll use my other AGP PSU in my new system until Enermax can replace mine.
Right now I'm using my old system that's now my sons and I'm using the same cord and outlet I was using for my new system.  Sigh...this is VERY frustrating!

    1. Try a different wall socket;
    2. check all connections;
    3. try a different PSU;
    4. check PSU (with a special tester, or by shortening two pins - you will have to find here in the forum, or else on the web, which two)
    5. check fuse in PSU
    6. report back

  • My iPod won't power up or charge

My iPod touch won't charge or power up.  I haven't used it in a couple of years or so, I have no idea what OS it is using or seriel number of anything.
It was given to me by the company I work for to do some demo a product, once that program ended almost 2 years ago I never used it again.  I can't find the Apple USB plug I tried using another USB charging device that I use to charge my Android phones, nothing even over night, I've tried plugging it into my PC still nothing.  I have tried the "reset" (sleep/wake button and home button together held it down for more than 10 seconds still nothing

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPhone4 won't come on or charge

I've tried reseting it on the charger. And when I hooked it up to the computer itunes automatically pops up. But a message pops up and says the iPhone update server is unavailable (probably because my internet is down)  Do I need an update or a new phone?

Mine did the same thing today! I've had no problems at all with the battery until suddenly this afternoon when it completely drained and now won't come back on. My phone is relatively new so it's hard for me to believe it's really a battery issue. It's so frustrating! My cell phone is my only phone so this leaves me without anything at all.

  • Why won't my iPod won't power up?

I have either the original ipod or ipod2 and it worked fine until just a week or so ago.  Now, it won't power up or charge.  It's 8 years old.

    It's 8 years old.
Given that age, it's likely that the battery is completely shot at this point.  You can have it replaced still by any number of third party services.  You can also purchase a replacement battery and swap it out yourself if you'd like.
