  • Help needed in RMS Persistent Storage

I used RMS record store to insert and retrieve records from and to a byte array ( I followed a tutorial example program), using ByteArrayInputStream , ByteArrayOutputStream classes.
I want to store it permanently in a persistent storage.
So, what should I do .?
Please help me in this regard.
    Thank you.

    Thank for your response.
    But, I'm not clear.
I was able to store records in a byte array stream and retireve it.
So, I had to store and retireve the records from the same MIdlet.
What if i closed the Midlet application and I want to retrieve the data at a later stage.( Like in desktops, data are stored in files in the filesystem, I want to know the filesystem in which my data wil be permanently stored.
    I'm using NetBeans 6.0 IDE
    I created a MIDlet.
    Please help.

  • Help need for Case Insentitivity search

I have Query some thing like
Select * from table where lower(table_name) like lower('abc%')
I have created an index an functional index on
    lower(table_name)
Now I have other Query like
    Select * from tablea,tableb where table_name='abc%' and
    tablea.id=tableb.id
Now my question is what index should I create so that
it does not perform table scan...?
or is there any better way to perform case insensitive search.
Also functional index are not reliable I mean when I check the Query plan it does not use the functional index even I have functional index created...
    Help !!

    1) The second query isn't doing a case-insensitive search. Indexes on the id columns on both tables should be sufficient.
    2) Does Oracle ever use the functional index? Indexes aren't necessarily faster than full table scans-- it depend on a variety of factors.
Have you analyzed the tables and indexes?

  • Help needed to use CC storage space

I have just subscribed to the photographers suite. I have downloaded the programmes without any problem and the creative cloud app sits on my Mac desktop. I cannot find how to create and transfer files to my free creatice cloud storage. When I go into the cc app the files section just shows a folder with a note under saying syncing will be coming soon. When the programmes are open there is no facility to save to cc in my finder. Have I missed something. Adobe help just keeps sending me around in circles.

Get access to File Sync from here https://creative.adobe.com/earlyaccess.
You can also upload files to the web application at https://creative.adobe.com/files.

There is no CASE statement in SQL; it is a CASE expression. Big difference.
Since SQL is a database language, we prefer to do look ups and not calculations. They can be optimized while temporal math messes up optimization. A useful idiom is a report period calendar that everyone uses so there is no way to get disagreements in the DML.
The report period table gives a name to a range of dates that is common to the entire enterprise.
    CREATE TABLE Something_Report_Periods
(something_report_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY
       CHECK (something_report_name LIKE <pattern>),
     something_report_start_date DATE NOT NULL,
     something_report_end_date DATE NOT NULL,
      CONSTRAINT date_ordering
        CHECK (something_report_start_date <= something_report_end_date),
    etc);
These report periods can overlap or have gaps. I like the MySQL convention of using double zeroes for months and years, That is 'yyyy-mm-00' for a month within a year and 'yyyy-00-00' for the whole year. The advantages are that it will sort with the ISO-8601
data format required by Standard SQL and it is language independent. The pattern for validation is '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-00-00' and '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[01][0-9]-00'

  • HELP***iCloud storage help needed

Can you let me know why if I have 14 gb of space left in my 50 gb plan that icloud won't let me back up my phone on icloud?  It says I have run out of run, yet I have 14 gigs left??

The problem could be that you don't have enough storage on the device itself, not on iCloud.  Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available on the device.  Farther down the list is the available storage on iCloud.
    Also check:
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud as well.  Tap Show All Apps to get the complete list of apps and MB used for backup storage.
A device needs many MB of storage in order to perform a backup to iCloud.

  • [SOLVED] Create table and storage clause

Hi, I create a table whit lob ad so, I set some LOB storage clause:
    CREATE TABLE W2_T_MESSAGE_NWSL (
    KEY NUMBER,
    T_MESSAGE CLOB DEFAULT EMPTY_CLOB(),
    T_TEXTMESSAGE CLOB DEFAULT EMPTY_CLOB(),
    T_FOOTER CLOB DEFAULT EMPTY_CLOB())
    LOB (T_MESSAGE)
STORE AS (TABLESPACE LOBDATA CACHE READS RETENTION ENABLE STORAGE IN ROW),
    LOB (T_TEXTMESSAGE)
STORE AS (TABLESPACE LOBDATA CACHE READS RETENTION ENABLE STORAGE IN ROW),
    LOB (T_FOOTER)
STORE AS (TABLESPACE LOBDATA CACHE READS RETENTION ENABLE STORAGE IN ROW);I need to export this table and do an import on a different instance.
I know for sure that the tablespace LOBDATA exists on both database but I can't say the same for the user default tablespace.
The problem is that when I import this table, the statement fail because the default tablespace of the user hasn't the same name of the tablespace where the table was exported.
    IMP-00003: ORACLE error 959 encountered
ORA-00959: tablespace 'USERWNSTARTUP' does not exist
This because the create table generated by the export has this storage clause:
    PCTFREE 10 PCTUSED 40 INITRANS 1 MAXTRANS 255 STORAGE(
INITIAL 65536 FREELISTS 1 FREELIST GROUPS 1) TABLESPACE USERWNSTARTUP LOGGING NOCOMPRESS LOB (B_LOGO) STORE AS (TABLESPACE "LOBDATA" ENABLE STORAGE IN ROW CHUNK 8192 PCTVERSION 10 CACHE READS STORAGE(INITIAL 65536 FREELISTS 1 FREELIST GROUPS 1)
On other tables, where I havent defined any storage clause all works fine.
Is there a way to resolve this problem?
    Thanks
    Regards

if someone is interested I've found this on the official import oracle documentation:
if the tablespace no longer exists or the user does not have the necessary quota, the system uses the default tablespace for that user as long as the table is unpartitioned, contains no LOB or VARRAY columns, is not a type table, and is not an index-only table with an overflow segment. In my case I've a LOB column, so tablespace information would be exporterd. I've done a trace of the import and I can confirm that on table without lob, varray etc.. the create table statement hasn't the tablespace specification.

  • Generating FREELIST storage clause from Designer

    Hi,
We are using Designer 6.0 to generate our tablespace and table DML. I am currently trying to get Designer to generate a CREATE TABLE command of the form (where the FREELIST GROUP clause is the subject of this question).
    CREATE TABLE
    test_table( id NUMBER )
    TABLESPACE TEST_TBL
    STORAGE (FREELIST GROUPS 2)
I know that a FREELIST GROUP can be specified at the Storage Definition level in Designer 6.0 and that these Storage Definitions can be assigned to tablespaces and tables. However, even setting it at the Storage Definition level and assigning that definition to the Table won't generate it in the DML script for the table.
Are there other options that need to be set before the FREELIST GROUPS storage clause can be generated ? - I want to avoid changing the scripts by hand.
    Any help is appreciated,
    Natalina

    BEGIN ctx_ddl.set_attribute('EBRUN.OBJECT_PREF',
    'I_INDEX_CLAUSE', 'tablespace pirs_index
    storage (initial 50M next 25M pctincrease 0)'); ctx_ddl.
    set_attribute('EBRUN.OBJECT_PREF', 'I_ROWID_INDEX_CLAUSE',
    'tablespace pirs_index
    storage (initial 50M next 25M pctincrease 0)'); ctx_ddl.
    set_attribute('EBRUN.OBJECT_PREF', 'I_TABLE_CLAUSE', 'tablespace
    pirs_index
    storage (initial 50M next 25M pctincrease 0)'); ctx_ddl.
    set_attribute('EBRUN.OBJECT_PREF', 'K_TABLE_CLAUSE', 'tablespace
    pirs_index
    storage (initial 50M next 25M pctincrease 0)'); ctx_ddl.
    set_attribute('EBRUN.OBJECT_PREF', 'N_TABLE_CLAUSE', 'tablespace
    pirs_index
    storage (initial 50M next 25M pctincrease 0)'); ctx_ddl.
    set_attribute('EBRUN.OBJECT_PREF', 'P_TABLE_CLAUSE', 'tablespace
    pirs_index
    storage (initial 50M next 25M pctincrease 0)'); ctx_ddl.
    set_attribute('EBRUN.OBJECT_PREF', 'R_TABLE_CLAUSE', 'tablespace
    pirs_index
    storage (initial 50M next 25M pctincrease 0)'); END;
Datbase is approx. 3.5 million records, field I'm indexing is a varchar2 with 4000 chars. Tablespace is 1400M. After several hours of indexing, here are the errors I'm getting:
ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
    ORA-20000: interMedia Text error
    DRG-50857: max#extents(99) reached in lob segment PIRS_OWNER.SYS_LOB0000026244C00002$$
    ORA-06512: at "CTXSYS.DRUE", line 126
    ORA-06512: AT "CTXSYS.TEXTINDEXMETHODS", line 78
    ORA-06512: at line 1
Tablespace does appear to be full after this. I can increase my tablespace, if that is the problem. Is there something else I should do?
This is my first try with interMedia and I didn't understand all the storage clauses. Do I need them all?
    Thanks for any help!

    You should increase your tablespace.
If this is your first try at interMedia/Oracle Text, I suggest building your demo/app with some few records (e.g. 1000) to learn the basics. Then you just add the rest of the records and sync the index.

  • Help needed for writing query

    help needed for writing query
i have the following tables(with data) as mentioned below
    FK*-foregin key (SUBJECTS)
    FK**-foregin key (COMBINATION)
    1)SUBJECTS(table name)
    SUB_ID(NUMBER) SUB_CODE(VARCHAR2) SUB_NAME (VARCHAR2)
    2           02           Computer Science
    3           03           Physics
    4           04           Chemistry
    5           05           Mathematics
    7           07           Commerce
    8           08           Computer Applications
    9           09           Biology
    2)COMBINATION
    COMB_ID(NUMBER) COMB_NAME(VARCHAR2) SUB_ID1(NUMBER(FK*)) SUB_ID2(NUMBER(FK*)) SUB_ID3(NUMBER(FK*)) SUBJ_ID4(NUMBER(FK*))
    383           S1      9           4           2           3
    384           S2      4           2           5           3
---------I actually designed the ABOVE table also like this
    3) a)COMBINATION
    COMB_ID(NUMBER) COMB_NAME(VARCHAR2)
    383           S1
    384           S2
    b)COMBINATION_DET
    COMBDET_ID(NUMBER) COMB_ID(FK**) SUB_ID(FK*)
    1               383          9
    2               383          4
    3               383          2
    4               383          3
    5               384          4
    6               384          2
    7               384          5
    8               384          3
Business rule: a combination consists of a maximum of 4 subjects (must contain)
and the user is less relevant to a COMB_NAME(name of combinations) but user need
    the subjects contained in combinations
    i need the following output
    COMB_ID COMB_NAME SUBJECT1 SUBJECT2      SUBJECT3      SUBJECT4
383     S1     Biology Chemistry      Computer Science Physics
384     S2     Chemistry Computer Science Mathematics Physics
or even this is enough(what i actually needed)
    COMB_ID     subjects
    383           Biology,Chemistry,Computer Science,Physics
    384           Chemistry,Computer Science,Mathematics,Physics
you can use any of the COMBINATION table(either (2) or (3))
    and i want to know
1)which design is good in this case
    (i think SUB_ID1,SUB_ID2,SUB_ID3,SUB_ID4 is not a
good method to link with same table but if 4 subjects only(and must) comes
detail table is not neccessary )
now i am achieving the result by program-coding in C# after getting the rows from oracle
    i am using oracle 9i (also ODP.NET)
i want to know how can i get the result in the stored procedure itsef.
2)how it could be designed in any other way.
    any help/suggestion is welcome
    thanks for your time --Pradeesh

Well I forgot the table-alias, here now with:
    SELECT C.COMB_ID
    , C.COMB_NAME
    , (SELECT SUB_NAME
    FROM SUBJECTS
    WHERE SUB_ID = C.SUB_ID1) AS SUBJECT_NAME1
    , (SELECT SUB_NAME
    FROM SUBJECTS
    WHERE SUB_ID = C.SUB_ID2) AS SUBJECT_NAME2
    , (SELECT SUB_NAME
    FROM SUBJECTS
    WHERE SUB_ID = C.SUB_ID3) AS SUBJECT_NAME3
    , (SELECT SUB_NAME
    FROM SUBJECTS
    WHERE SUB_ID = C.SUB_ID4) AS SUBJECT_NAME4
    FROM COMBINATION C;
As you need exactly 4 subjects, the columns-solution is just fine I would say.

  • Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i on Sun Solaris 8

    Hey,
Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i EE on Sun Solaris 8. The problem I met was: we followed the installation guide from the documentation. And we selected the choice "install software only". After it was done successfully, we run Database Configuration Assistant utility to create a database instance. But finally it always tried to create the instance at the root directory ( / ) which doesn't have enough space and then failed. The case was that we have set the enviroment parameters: $ORACLE_BASE = /export/mydata, $ORACLE_HOME = /export/apps/oracle9i. That means it should be installed at /export/mydata, but it didn't. Any help or advice are welcome. Thanks.
    Simon

I have downloaded Oracle 11G R2 version from Windows and extracted it in Windows and copied it into DVD after extraction in two folders. Now I am mounting that DVD in Solaris 10 installed in my VMware . I made a new directory named as 'installation ' under /export/home/oracle and copied the folders from DVD to 'installation' folder. Now I am entering installation folder and try to do ./runInstaller as 'oracle ' user and getting the error mentioned before.
