Help needed in identifying MSI board

Hi gurus...
I recently bought a secondhand Micro-Star motherboard off eBay (yeah, stupid, I know, but you live and learn) in an effort to rectify a problem with my sister's PC - it's only really an email box so I didn't want to spend a fortune on it, but she wants to use floppies, and I suspect that her current FDD controller is faulty.
Trouble is, the board came with no identification, no driver/install CD or much else. I've tried contacting MSI tech support but the email bounced, so I've come to you guys.
Board is Micro-ATX form factor, based on a Green PCB, marked 'Micro-Star model 6506'; six mounting holes.
Serial number label on underside shows: 6853150100 and M65060111279503
Intel Pentium 4 CPU socket 478.
Serial number label by CPU socket shows 1800192029
Power connectors: CONN1, (20-pin) and JPW1 (4-pin)
Fan connectors CFAN1 and SFAN1;
Main peripheral connector slots are:
IDE x 2 (my guess is parallel ATA)
FDD x 1
AGP Graphics card slot
2 x PCI peripheral slots
1 x CNR modem slot
2 x DIMM 168-pin RAM slots
USB 2.0 on-board header.
Ports/peripheral connectors are:
PS2 Keyboard and mouse ports
2 x USB ports
D-9 COM1 and COM2, with parallel D-25 printer port stacked above;
D-15 Games/sound port above 3 x 3.5mm mini-jack sound connectors
Behind this stack are four connectors, three 4-pin labelled JPHN1 (green) JAUX1 (white) and JCD1 (black) and one 3-pin labelled JSP1 (black). All have latching sockets of the standard CD-Audio connector type.
There appears to be no on-board LAN or video/graphics.
BIOS chip is labelled 686 AMIBIOS (c)1999 BA44 7151
The  board came with half-height Video card and LAN card, (with half-height metal mounting plates) suggesting a low-profile case though these cards are not easily identifiable. I doubt that would be much help anyway
Perusing the MSI support sites produces no useful information - Searching on the board number says it's not recognised. If anyone can at least point me in the direction of the 'marketing' name for this board so that I can identify essentials such as FSB bandwidth, RAM type and speed, AGP speed etc, I may be in with a fighting chance of making something useful out of it.
Of course, I acquired a P4 CPU with it, so I can at least improve on sis's Celeron, but that still won't get the floppy working....
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thank you, Bosskiller;
I have to admit I hadn't considered an OEM possibility. Although my Czech isn't up to translating most of the extras on the site, I was able to retrieve (eventually - not the easiest sites to navigate) the equivalent information and download various drivers from the equivalent UK site.
All being well, I'll get to the rebuild tomorrow; any more problems and I'll repost here.
Thanks again

  • Help needed with identifying cause of Google Chrome crashes from a crash report

    Hello,
I am trying to isolate a problem which is causing Google Chrome to crash. This is happening far too frequently - sometimes on opening, sometimes on web page loads and sometimes when viewing the preferences page.
    I'm using a 2012 Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.4.
After many hours of trawling around the Internet and trying various suggestions, I am close to admitting defeat. Hopefully somebody here can save my sanity and point me towards a possible cause.
To date, these are some of the things that I have tried:
Replacing the 16GB of Crucial Ram with the stock Ram.
Logging in as a Guest user and opening Chrome.
Disabling all Chrome extensions (there are only 3 that I use anyway).
Uninstalling Chrome and all associated files that I could find, then reinstalling.
Booting into Safe Mode and loading Chrome.
None of these have made a difference. There have also been a couple of times when Firefox has crashed, too. Safari has been rock solid. Yes, I could just use Safari, but there are personal reasons why I need to use Chrome. I also need to locate this problem in case it is something that might effect other applications … or possibly even be a hardware problem.
Below is my most recent crash report. Frankly, it's contents are way outside of my comfort zone, so I am hoping that somebody will be able to help point me towards the relevant parts that might help me resolve this problem:

  • Help Needed to identify/use BAPI's in IS-Media

    Hi Friends,
I am new to IS-Media package and working on identifying appropriate BAPI's to:
    1. Create Business Partners:
I am able to use BAPIBUSISM007_CREATEFROMDATA to create Business Partners but it supports only 5 roles,  but my requirement is to create other roles using a BAPI like (Media Sales Agent -ISM021). Is there any other BAPI to achieve this or can the above BAPI somehow be used?
    2. Media Issues.
The BAPI mentioned in the BAPI transaction under Product Master data is BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA, but this does not have any structures/fields that support IS-Media specific fields. So how do I use this BAPI to create Media Issues.
Any pointers or help in this regard will be highly appreciated <removed by Moderator>
    Thanks in Advance,
    Praveen.

    Hi,
    1) For creating/modifying business partners checks BAPI's
          BAPI_BUSINESS_PARTNER_CHANGE
          BAPI_BUSINESS_PARTNER_CREATE
          BAPI_BUSINESS_PARTNER_MODIFY
          BAPI_BUSINESS_PARTN_GET_DETAIL
    2) check these BAPI's if they help
        BAPI_RETAILMATERIAL_CREATE
        BAPI_STANDARDMATERIAL_CREATE

  • HELP needed with the MSI Mega PC 651 !!!

    Hi there,
It seemes to me the previous thread concerning the MEGA PC is no longer visited... and besides that, I need help.
I have a problem getting to install a HD in the machine.
I tried a 200 GB HD, which gives me an error when I try to load windows... immediately after the first restart in Windows Setup, I get a "Disk error. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
I tried a smaller HD (120 GB), thinking there might be something to do with the 137 GB Windows limitation... I get the same error.
And then I try a 4.3 GB HD (an old one), and it works perfectly!
I'm at my wits' end... can someone please tell me how to fix this, before I go crazy?

Yes... as long as the boot partition is smaller than 32 GB, the computer is happy.
BTW, Stu, I'm using a Mobile Celeron, and it works perfectly, with zero modifications... Stock speed is 1.8, but I keep the FSB at 133, so it's running at 2.4 GHz now...

    Hi Jelina,
    Try this:
    Table name: AGR_HIER
    Filed Name: Unique ID
In the filed search the table entries by providing the target name like
    *cube001*
This would probably work if the qury naming is done with target name in it ( if the target name is there in the query technical name).
    All the best.

  • Help needed in identifying the performance bottle neck

    Version: Oracle 11g
I have application which accesses an Oracle DB. With only one application accessing the DB, the application is quite fast in retrieving the results from the DB or inserting results into the DB.
But if another application is added accessing the same database but different data from the database, the speed of the application has reduced drastically..
Can anybody tell me what are the possible reasons for such reductions in the speed of the application..

    Hi,
Run statspack/AWR for each case for 5 minute and see the diffrencess.

  • Need MAJOR HELP recovering an 845E-Max board (no post)

Hey guys and gals, I need some SERIOUS SERIOUS help here recovering my old board. I have an MSI 845E-MAX board, and decided to do some overclocking to it. While doing it, I raised the FSB too much, and now the system wont post. So I know what your all thinking, ok, take out your CMOS battery, or clear the JBAT1 jumpers. While ive done that, repeatedly, to no avail. Ive cleared the jumpers over and over, nothing. Taken the battery out for a 24hr period, nothing. Took the battery out for nearly a MONTH!, and nothing. Next your probally thinking, while maybe its bad RAM, Vid Card, CPU, etc. While it isnt lol Ive replaced/tested all the current hardware in other systems and they all work fine. Ive got a defenet mobo problem, and its really pissing me off lol on other boards by other manufacturers, if I put my FSB to high and it didnt post, restarting would put it into default specs, so I could adjust my fsb as needed. With this 845E though, its no such luck, and reseting the CMOS dosent do anything to fix it. Ive also read some posts about other boards who dont even have a JBAT1 jumper, and used an "insert" key method, where they power down, hold down the insert key, and boot up. Decided to try this, and it did nothing. I didnt think it was made for my board in the first place, but decided to give it a shot. IVe also tried reflashing/recovering the bios, by downloading the newest bios (its an AMI i believe) renaming it, putting it to a floppy, and booting the system holding CTRL+HOME to force the update. but it does nothing, and dosent even seem to read the floppy as the little green light dosent come on when i power up. The DVD/CD drive does though, and wehn i place WIN XP SP2 in the drive, it reads it and green light stays solid, so its just the floppy drive im having probs with I guess. Also, i get no beeps at startup, but can hear the hard drive boot and spin. I list my hardware specs below to help
So PLEASE, some MSI guru, help me before I go crazy here! :P thanx a million to any one who can lend a hand.
    MSI 845E-MAX
    2 x 256 Azen RAM PC2100
    Benq DVD Burner
    Intel Pentium 1.5ghz P4
    Nvidia Geforce 64mb
*this is a spare system im building, but the board WAS my primary board till I upgraded, so im use to its settings, just no OC'ing it apparently lol*

I do indeed...and yah i get no beeps at all....
but everything powers up fine...hdd spins...cd rom turns on, if i put in a Nic card, the green light comes when a cat5 cable is in it. So it looks like everything is receing power fine, but i just get no beeps at all to signify start up

  • URGENT HELP NEEDED (Bios Settings Failed)

    Hey Guys,
I am having problems with my MSI Board, and don't know what to do.  I am very much a noob to BIOS/and modding so I apologize in advance.  You guys helped me a few months ago getting everything up and running and all was great for months.  Then last night I walked away from my PC for a while and when i came back a starting screen was on saying my OC Settings Failed to load, i tried other versions I saved and they all failed as well.  I ended up loading failsafe options, and got the "double start" where the computer turns on, then instantly shuts off, then turns on again.  This allowed me to load windows 7, which then started to "install updates".   So i think while i was away Windows automatically updated and rebooted... but would that effect my BIOS settings?
As I said, I had my system running perfect for months no errors or crashes at all based on the Bios setting you guys help me with in this thread:  https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=147854.0
However, last week I removed the heat sink and installed this cooler:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Water+Cooling-_-Corsair-_-35181010
All I did was unhook everything from the MB, install the cooler, and then hook everything back up to the MB.  The only thing I may have done wrong is not connect the SATA devices (my HDs and ROMS) back in the spots they were in originally.  However after I installed the cooler, they system booted right up, and I haven’t had any problems with my system for the past two weeks.  I also should note I didnt make any BIOS changes either after I installed the cooler.  So I don’t know if I should have done something there.   Yet, like I said the system has been fine for the past two weeks, no crashes or errors... it wasn’t until last night after Windows auto updated that this has begun.
The reason I need "URGENT HELP" is because of course I just a new job with deadlines due and so much video editing work I need to do.  I would be fine leaving it on failsafe settings, and forgetting the OC setting all together if I new that would make the system stable.  But considering its still doing the "double start" even in failsafe mode, im afraid if i start working my system will crash.
So I am begging anybody for any advice or help they could provide.  I will provide my system info below.  If anybody can guide me as to what settings I should set in BIOS i would appreciate it.  Or perhaps there’s a BIOS update that I should use now that I have a cooler and not a heat sink?  If you need any more information from me, just ask.  I will be monitoring this thread all day, as I desperately need help.

PROBLEM:  My OC BIOS setting wont load.  Even on failsafe i get the "double start".  I want to get back to my OC (stable) settings.
UPDATE:  Since I posted somebody messaged me mentioned I should have "reset the CMOS" after I installed the new cooler.  So I did that, and now they system starts fine without the "double start".  I am able to load one of my saved OC settings now as well (but any others causes a failure).
    NEW QUESTIONS:
          1.  Since I reset the CMOS and now the system is starting fine on my last OC settings, is it safe to assume the sytem is stable for now?
          2.  I never made any power changes or BIOS changes after I installed the new cooler.  Should I have?
          3.  After I reset the CMOS was I soupposed to reinstall the drivers from the MSI disk again?  I did not, and the system seems to be fine, but I thought I was soupposed to do that after a CMOS reset.
          4.  Is there a new BIOS version for my setup that may be better now?   Im currently on v1.5
Here is a screenshot from CPUZ of the system information currently.  This is with it booting normally after my CMOS reboot.  I just figured id post it incase it helps with any of my questions.  Thanks so much for helping guys!

  • HELP needed with K7N2 & amd3000+

    Hi, Guru's
    I need some help with a problem;
I bought the AMD 3000+ (barton) cpu, and installed it.
Before the 3000+ I had a 2400+ and this configuration was running fine. Also with memtest and prime95, no errors.
Now with the 3000+ memtest has no errors but with prime95, when I start a torture test WinXp freezes. I tried every possible combination in Bios, WinXp setting, IRQ's, mem settings and so on. Everything is running default, and still Windows freezes. Please I need some help, because my resources are at the end.
    Thanks!

    Hi all,
    Back online...
At first thanks for helping me out, you guy's are great.
The problem was not the cooler, cpu, psu, mem.
I did what clarkkent57 wrote, I lowered my multiplier and FSB to the old 2400+ cpu settings, and guess it's working
I did the Prime and memtest, no errors. So, the conclusion is a faulty MB. Back to the shop with MB, CPU, mem and so on. They tested the board and told me this one is broken, they took a new one and tested the new one, and guess..., the new one is also broken. They took another one and guess, this one passed the test   They also told me that I am not the first one with a broken MSI board.
Another conclusion: This shop has a whole board line from MSI factory who are not reliably, and this is only in Rotterdam the Netherlands.
Before buying a K7N2 board, ask the shop to test it with your CPU and mem. It saves you a lot of headache.
Ok, workaround to check an faulty board...lower FSB, mem timings, multiplier, and do the testing stuff. If it pass the test, the MB is broken
    In my case the solution.

  • Dead MSI boardS

I recently purchased 645 ultra, but went dead somehow (it wont power up). This is after 2mthns usage.  I purchased in USA (egghead.com) and now I am in Malaysia.  How can I get a replacement for this?
Since I don’t know how to replace the dead board, I went for 845 Gmax.  To my surprise :O , the new board worked erratically.  Sometimes it powered up, sometimes not! ?(   After about 20 powerups, it went dead, the DLED suggested the on board FDD did not initialize and the boot up sequence was halted.
So, I returned the board to the shop where I purchased and got a new 845 Gmax after about 1 week.  I plug the new board, it powered up, but the DLED did not lit up.  I thought, oh well, at least it powered up.  I plug in all other accessories (HDD, etc cards) and eagerly waiting   my system to wake up again.  But, the board did not power up! 8o .
So, I paused for a while trying to figure out what is going on.  I read the manual (again) carefully; and I noted that somehow 845 GMAX is not compatible with some AGP cards.  I am using ATI All In Wonder 7500 64MB DDR.  This is a universal AGP 2x/4x card which is NOT listed as incompatible.  I pulled out the AGP card, and the board powered up!.   I used the onboard VGA and everything ran OK (except the dead DLED) and I was able to go into my WinXP.  I put the AGP card again, and the board wont power up again!
So, there you go :O .  New motherboard, new version of ATI AGP card (that’s 7500 series), but MSI board wont accept it.  This is very disappointing and I surely cant accept it.
I wont plug the AGP card again, since the consequence is unpredictable (the first 845Gmax board was erratic until it went dead).
I want to use the AGP card, its mandatory since the multimedia feature is a must to me!.
So, I hope MSI will respond to this with grace and understand the patience that I have to bear with the above problems!

Hiya, THanks for responding to my post and the helpful comment from Assaf.  Its rarely people do upgrade or read much about new development on power supply!
The 845 GMax worked flawlessly (inc the DLED) after I bought the new power supply with the 4pin ATX 12v .  It shouldve been called SUPER ATX or something similar and the plug should be modified, so that we know it needs something new!
The old ATX power supply worked on the 645 ultra initially, but failed later.  Same with the 845 GMax. 00 I plugged the new ATX power supply to the 645 ultra and it also powered up! :D .  So,  I have to retract my sarcasm in the first post   .
Thanks again and have a pleasant day! )

Yes there chep and easy to come by...Ive already got a new one.
All I wanted was to make a diagram of whats inside the bloody thing...it was a simple question and required a simple answer.
NO NEED TO A WANKA !!
I feel a bann comming up.
Have you tryed Google ? really.. your question is inrelevant. No need to reply indeed.
Why do you come here asking this question anyway ? is it becouse you have a MSI gfx card ? and the adapter has nothing to do with this ?
You think you can come in here yelling.. thinking we have to put up with it and accept your style of posting. This is not a MSI tech center.. it's a user to user center.. Your question has nothing to do with MSI relavant things anyway's.
    Google = your friend.

  • Where are the USB drivers for my MSI board??

Got a new MSI board- VIA KM266 Pro + 8237 Chipset Based. I installed my new AMD 2300+, WIN XP, etc. I have a USB printer. Got everything installed, printed a test page, and then a document. Everything fine. THEN, I go to use my printer a few days later and it says "Printer not responding". So I troubleshoot, and then go into Device Manager and notice there are no USB devices installed. The new MSI board has 4 USB ports on it. The CD that came with the board has no USB drivers on it (I checked). WIN XP has no USB drivers. What is going on? How do I get the USB ports to work? Am I looking at it all wrong? Appreciate any help out there!
