Help needed: Resizing a whole video track

Hello everyone
For starters, forgive my poor english syntaxis
Recently i have filmed a concert with several Gopro cameras (in 1280x960) and a 7D (in 1920x1080).
Now i want to edit all this in Premiere, with a final format of 1280x720. I'll have bits of gopro film and bits of 7d film.
What i want to do is have, for example, a Gopro track with my gopro bits and a 7D track with all my 7D bits. My gopro bits fit perfectly in the comp, since they have the good width (it crops the height, but that's what i want), but the 7D clips are too big (1920x1080 instead of 1280x720). I could resize each one of my clips in the properties, but since they are WAY too many of them, i would like to scale down the whole 7D track. Is there a way to do that?

I thought about editing the whole 7D track in a dedicated sequence, but it would mean jumping back and forth the main sequence and this one to edit the movie... Not very pratical.
But the 'scale to frame size' is almost perfect. Should have thought about that. Thanks!
Anyway, there should be a global track effects/transform control, not only for size but also color correction, rotation, position, etc without having to precomp everything. Don't you think?

Need to import whole video to put on DVD

Everyone, I'm a newbie to iMovie08. Can you help me with this question....I have interviewed my parents in regards to their childhood memories, so as to give these interviews to my siblings for Christmas. I want to import the whole tape from the camcorder to iMovie, and the put a nice menu screen on the video in iDvd. Here's my dilema..
1. I have 3 tapes of video
2. I want to import the whole tape, uninterrupted. I do NOT want to select 200+ seconds of footage (like iMovie breaks up the video) and continue to import, import, and import to the top of the screen.
3. Once I import the whole tape, I want to bring the project over to iDvd to put a nice menu system on the DVD with added photos from iPhoto.
Can someone explain how to import the whole imported video to the top of the screen in iMovie? I hope I have been clear, and THANKS in advance for any help!
p.s. my videos in iPhoto show up to on the bottom left of the project in iMovie. How do I get rid of this completely?

Mpeg Streamclip? Please elaborate.
MPEG Streamclip is a free utility for accessing many of the QT Pro features. While it is not geared to handle multiple audio/video layers like QT Pro, it does include support for multiplexed compression formats (VOB, MEPG2/AC3, MPEG, MPG, Flash, etc.) but does require the proper codecs be installed. Basically, it can utilize all QT components installed on your system and handles many "sequential" content operations better than QT Pro. In the case of merging files, if you "drag 'n drop" a set of selected files to the work window, it is automatically merge them in an alpha-numeric title order. This makes it very easy to merge and then convert VOB title sets which make up a single long video and convert it as a single file for say iPod or TV use. In the same manner, if your DV or HDV (usually now converted to AIC/AIFF) were captured in sequence order from tape and have filenames based on the time stamp or file creation DTG, then your filenames should show up in the finder or navigation list in their playback sequence order. If this is the case, then MPEG Streamclip will automatically open/merge multiple files in their playback sequence also. The "Save As..." option then works much the same as in QT Pro and will allow you to write the sequential data to a single MOV container. (Other containers are only available if, and only if, the content is compatible. E.g., the sequenced data could only be placed in an MP4 container if the data is MPEG4/AAC or H.264/AAC.)
In short, MPEG Streamclip extends some of the capabilities of the QT Structure and, IMHO, is well worth its "free" price tag. In fact, the combination of MPEG Streamclip and QT Pro can handle most of my day to day minor editing needs which do not require a "full-blown" video editor. I would even go so far as to say they have become indispensable.

Help! There are no video tracks defined in the current project.

I have been sending slideshows from Iphoto to Idvd for over a year without any problems. Now when I click the burn icon I get this message:
There are no video tracks defined in the current project. Can anyone help? I'm really in a panic concerning how this could have happened and how to fix it. Thanks

16:9 Help needed. Workflow: extracted video from DVD, FCE HD edit & DVDSP.

I have a project where according to the camera person it was shot in 16:9 with the camera (assuming a DV camcorder of some sort). It was captured from the camera and converted to a DVD (VIDEO_TS folder and everything) and sent to me for editing.
What I need help with is a workflow (and settings) to edit and output this properly.
1) My first hiccup comes in the extract. When I view the DVD that was sent to me, the video looks squished as it squeezes the video into the 4:3 aspect ratio. I was using MPEG Streamclip to extract it. I've extracted it in a 16:9 QT format and it looks fine in FCE HD. However, once I started reading more about editing 16:9 video in the FCE PDF manual, I'm wondering if I should have kept it as 4:3 and then toggled the Anamorphic setting for the sequence.
2) Once I have the correct source to edit - are there any considerations on export for compression? I read somewhere about a program to set the anamorpgic bit for iDVD, but plan to use DVDSP so I'm assuming I can skip this step. I also read in the forum about a QT Conversion setting to use. Do I need to? I was planning to export a reference movie and use Compressor with that. I was planning to use a "Widescreen" compressor option. Is this correct?
3) I know this is beyond this forum, but any advice on what settings should I use in producing the DVD? As noted above I plan to use DVDSP 3 to create the DVD, and I do notice the 16:9 settings in there for each track. I was planning to use the 16:9 Letterbox track setting. Is this correct?
Any other pitfalls I should be aware of as I navigate the 16:9 jungle?

First, with regard to your chipset - graphics/video card:

Your graphics card has no video RAM (VRAM) of its own. So, it must use some of your system RAM to be able to function. This is 'dynamically allocated'. That is, your system decides how much system RAM to allocate to the graphics card. I am not aware of anyway to manually control this.
Next, you said you have installed Windows XP. Toshiba India has not posted any XP drivers for your system. Toshiba laptops are very finicky about using Toshiba 'tweaked' hardware drivers to be able to function properly. This computer is a Toshiba European version of your model, and it would appear to have a full set of XP drivers, these will work just fine in your system:

The order you load the hardware drivers and Toshiba utilities is critical. The files available for download above are all zip files, so you will have to extract the .exe files to be able to install them. Install the drivers first, then the Toshiba utilities, and given that you already have XP basically working install in this order:
1st Drivers:
1) Chipset
2) Storage Manager
3) Display
4) Sound
5) then all other XP hardware drivers
2nd Utilities:
1) Common modules
2) Hotkey utility
3) all other XP Toshiba utilities.

Help needed on embedding a video in Acrobat ICS3

I've been able to easily embed a video into an Acrobat 8.22 doc, but I need to get it to loop.
It's a .mov file
Any thoughts how to do this?

Seemed to have "stumped the stars" on this one. Was hoping there was a option from within Acrobat to do this.
Any ideas what forum might help me better if Acrobat is not the right one?
You cannot embed the looping behavior into a movie from within QT.
Was hoping someone who had done this before would have the magic answer :-)
Might I have to convert this to Flash to enable this behavior?

Help needed: How to import video from Canon Legria Camcorder FS306?

Dear all,
After happily purchasing Canon Legria Camcorder FS306, I realise that my IMOVIE HD could not detect the camcorder when connected to my Macbook pro.
Have 2 questions here:
1. Is it impossible for IMovie HD to detect newer camcorders? Should I then upgrade to IMOVIE09?
2. Currently, Canon Legria Camcorder FS306 is not listed as 1 of the supported camcorders for IMOVIE09. It is one of the newer models. Is IMOVIE09 able to import video from this camcorder now? Or in the near future? Or it may never be supported?

You would need imovie 09 to use this camcorder.
This camcorder is not on the iMovie 09 supported list. However, every Canon camcorder since 2008 has supported iMovie 08 and 09, so odds are good that this one will, too. Odds are good that it works right now. IF you want to know for sure, call Canon. ....or take your camera to an Apple Store and hook it up.
It might be possible to do some manual conversions and continue to use iMovie 6. For example, you could try converting the MPEG2 files to DV using a tool like MPEG Streamclip. You would also need the $20 Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component. I find iMovie 09 to be a much better editor, but if you are comfortable with iMovie 06, this might be worth a try for you.

Video tracks disappear when changing between sequences in premiere CS6

Dear people, can you please help me find out why video tracks disappear when changing between sequences in premiere CS6.
All it shows is the audio track and it is maximized to the first frame of the sequence. Video tracks are there but hidden - although video IS showing up in the program monitor.
When I pull the tracks down in the timeline window using the dividing line between the video and audio tracks and set the sequence work area back it works fine, however it is a great annoyance having to do this every time when i swap between sequences.
Can anybody please suggest a solution to this?

(basically every type of audio i drop/place onto the timeline becomes left channel only, regardless of it being music or camera-recorded audio.
In the source monitor everything plays back just fine, but when placed to the timeline - it becomes LEFT only.

One Monitor / Window Per Video Track? Possible?

I really need to sync multiple video tracks / clips and Multicamera will not work.
It would be nice it Video Track One / Two / Etc. had their own window.
I could place them where I want .. and adjust the many clips to where I want them .. without switch back and forth to the program / source monitors.
Has anyone else figured this out?

There is a Source, Program, and Reference Monitor .. a trim monitor .. and a multi camera monitor .. but all I want is a monitor per track .. and a overall monitor.
It would be nice to duplicate them too .. to have a set of small thumbnails .. and then larger ones on a second monitor.

Need help timing titles on black video

Here is what I’ve been doing but maybe there is another (better way) to do it… I select Black Video from Edit and it automatically shows up at the beginning of the timeline. Next I select Title from Edit and type the title, intros, etc. The title will play for 4.5 seconds, but the Black Video will play longer or shorter (if I increase or decrease the duration). I would like to be able to increase or decrease the duration of the title within black video. Like have the title, intros, etc., fade in and out on a black background after so many seconds. Thanks for any and all help.

Possibly an easier way to do what you want is to not use the Black Video beneath your Titles. So long as you do not change the background of the Title, you will get black.
Now, in Timeline View Mode, use a small segment of Black Video. Normally, I start all Timelines with 02 sec. of Black Video for a couple of reasons. I create the Black Video (New Icon>Black Video) and then Dbl-click it to open it in the Source Monitor. There, I set the Out Point, so that I get 02 sec. Duration. I drag this to the start of the Timeline. Then, create you Titles as needed, and place them behind the Black Video on the same Video Track. If you wish another Title Duration, than the default, in Edit>Preferences>General, set the Duration for Still Images (note - this is in Frames, so you might need to do a bit of math). Between your Titles, use the Dip-to-Black Transitions. You will get the same effect as having the Titles over Black Video.

Creating a slideshow: need to fit still images in video track to audio

Hello,
I am creating a simple slideshow in FCP. I have 99 still images, all sequential, with a transition in my video track. I have two audio songs in sequence in my audio track. The obvious problem is that my audio is much shorter than my 99 images.
Of course, the next task is fitting the video to the audio. But with 99 still images, I do not want to edit each individually. I need to be able to select all images, and fit them all to the audio, so that the duration of each still image is shortened equally, i.e. a symmetrical compression of the duration of each.
I haven't figured out quite how to do this. I thought the ripple tool would work, but I haven't been able to make it work on all image clips. Can someone help me out and let me know how this is done? I suspect it's quite easy, I just can't seem to find any documentation on this either in the FCP user's guide or via Google.

Okay, this has happended to me before. It's user error, but right now for the life of me I can't remember what was wrong and what I did to fix it.
Try this...highlight only one clip and try just one clip. Will that clip change duration?
If it does it may be a problem in highlighting "all" of the clips. Give me a minute or two and I might remember what I did to fix the problem when I had it. Most likely when it happened to me I ...1. played with it...2. cussed....3. played with it some more....4. cusses....5. got a diet coke and forgot about it for awhile...6. somehow fixed it.
You can always try the original suggestion. There's always more than one way to skin a cat. Sometimes, I go the long way just to get there. The short cut doesn't do you any good if the road is closed so to speak.

Select/highlight the ones that you want to change in your iTunes library, do Get-Info (control-I) and change their Media Kind on their Options tab to 'Music Video' - and then similarly for the podcasts.

I made a new sequence at 23.976 and imported my 1280x720 59.94 video into the sequence... when i rendered it out it looks glitchy!
my client is not allowing 1280 x720 59.94 video files they want 29.97 progressive,25,24,or 23.98

I have created a .png logo to use on my video. It has it's own storyline so the logo is shown overthe whole video. Do I need to composite the logo storyline to the main storyline before exporting? Same question for the audio storyline.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

Help also I think it might have to do with my wifi but I'm not sure. Sometimes I also try to skip to sections of a vid and it just lags for ages and nothing happens.
