Help needed using NiReport in MSVC (using C, not C++/MeasStudio)

Hi, folks!
I develop my apps writing in C, using MSVC (not Measurement Studio/C++). I use LabWindows to design the UI and use the external compiler support to generate the UI's object file, which I link into my program. I've had great results doing this; I link to the appropriate .lib and the corresponding .dll is in the apps root folder.
However, I'm unable to get this to work for using the NiReport library. I'm trying to build the nirsample app which came with my LabWindows installation but the link step fails because it cannot find the exported functions required (NI_Report_xxx).
There is a utility that comes with the MSVC installation called Depends, which allows one to view the imported and exported fuinctions in a .dll file. When I load up the NiReports.dll, it only exports four functions: DllCanUnloadNow, DllGetClassObject, DllRegisterServer and DllUnregisterServer. Where are all the NI_Report_xxx functions? I think if I can find the proper .dll, I'll be successful in building my app and will be able to go on with my life...

I'm almost there! I'm using nirsample.c and nireport.obj in my test compile and it returns a link error saying it it has an unresolved external symbol, _StrDup@4. Ok, I know that StrDup is a function found in the CVI_Toolbox and I've included that in the libraries used to link against. I had a similar problem using the Excel automation functions and was able to get around it by including the source file, excel2000.c. So, if I could just get hold of the source for nireport.obj, I think that would solve my problem. However, unlike most of the other toolbox extras, this one does not include its source.

Thanks for the quick response. A long time ago I rebuilt Toolbox as a dll; it works fine that way for all my other projects until this one. However, I tried your suggestion and it led to another error:

My guess is this is because of a conflict in how the various include files are being loaded and I'm not sure how to fix that. (I do not have that problem when using toolbox as a dll for my other projects.)
For the sake of completeness, I've attached the MSVC project file (nirsample.dsp) so you can see how I've got this set up. Oh, and I'm using MSVC 6.0 for coding and LabWindows 6.0 for ui design. (I don't have a CVI2009 directory.)

Help needed using adobe exportpdf

The first time I used adobe export pdf it worked well. However the next time and every other time I try to convert a pdf doc to word docx I get the error message at the end of the uploading session. "pdf doc failed to export to m,icrosoft word. There was an unexpected problem.
Anyone overcome this problem?

               Thanks for that info. I was aware of the 100MB limit but
your response made me think again and go back to the problem and this is
what I found. The first pdf document I uploaded into Adobe export pdf was 43
MB and it went through fine. when I looked at the conversion to Word docx I
found it had been transformed into 83MB.
So the conversion (which was a children's book with lots of images in it)
resulted in an increase of MBs by a factor of 1.7.
The second pdf document I uploaded was 64MB and this failed. If I apply the
1.7 factor then the Word docx I wanted was going to be 109MB and therefore
over the 100MB limit.
I didn't know that converting pdf to word would increase the MB like that.
Why, I don't know so thanks for your help I've learnt something new.

Help needed using content and structure functionality

Several times now I have had users who wanted to move libraries or lists, etc. from one place within a site collection to another.
The problem is that often, when they go into content and structure, select their source, the only action that appears is Delete, rather than also the copy or move functionality.
Even when I connect to the farm with the farm account, I see the same issue - the copy and move actions are greyed out. The farm account is one of the site collection owners, as well as of course in the farm admin group.
Are there certain types of things which cannot be copied or moved? One user is just trying to move a folder of files from a document library to a different location (from working to completed), while another user wants to move most of the files from an old
project to a new project.
I am having a tough time understanding why sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.

Thank you for your answer. The user did try to use the windows explorer method, and got an error saying that the operation could not find the source.
I appreciate the note about moving the files individually. I have suggested that.
I also appreciate the caution about using move not copy if the versions are needed.
In one case we have a user who is trying to consolidate 2 different sharepoint sites into 1 site.
She has asked about moving one into the other.
I presume that any moving that takes place will overwrite an object of the same name that exists on the other side? Or is there a prompt to the user before the overwrite takes place?

Help needed to upgrade to Yosemite : Apple ID not yet been used with App Store

I get this popup dialog about "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the App Store"
Clicking REVIEW does not help and restarting and re-signing in does not help with the case , I cannot get started with downloading the Yosemite OS X at all.
What seems to be the trouble?
Running 10.6.8, have already verified all the emails linked to this Apple ID.

Log into yur account and review the payment information and then log out and then go back to the iTunes store.

I’m working on a Report, it gets some 2 million records and the report pages are approximately 52,000
It works fine if the pages are lesser then 48,000 or the data is less let say one and half a million, the problem occurs only after 48000 + pages formatted.
Report is generated successfully when trying to go to the last page it throw an error.
REP-1800 Formatter error
VGS-1701 Not enough memory
I have already gone through the metalink DOC Id 95505.1 as well as OTN
But all in vain,
Any comments or help much appreciated.
Details are:
Reports 6i (Clients/Server) on Windows platform
(Windows XP Professional with SP 2)
Database: Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0
Computer:

I don't see the point in making a report with more than 48,000 pages, I think Al Gore will not be happy when you start printing it...
The problem might be caused by the fact that Reports needs to format all output at once, and then even 1GB of memory will probably be not enough. Formatting all pages at once is needed if you use pagination with displaying total number of pages. If you have this, try to get that out of the report definition and try again.

Urgent Flash help needed; Using Movie Clip Objects

I am currently trying to design a small flash movie.
I have a "Movie Clip" object (a short animation) that i wish to act like a static object until a certain frame on the main Timeline.
Then i want it to play out, at it's own pace, just like normal, until it finishes (no looping)...
What do i need to put into, and where do i put it?
So in short, frame 30 of the main animation triggers the clip, whilst the main animation still runs...
I know very, very minimal AS3... so please, can someone help me?
A lot of solutions suggest a button, but I don't want to use a button, as it's not interactive - just a movie.
i just want the damn movie clip to play in the damn movie when it reaches frame 30! it shouldn't be that hard..

There is most likely no need for any code. And most likely no need for a movieclip even.
It sounds like you would need a graphic symbol. (You can convert it in the library or you can just change the instance you have placed on stage.)
First select the symbol on its first keyframe and on the properties panel select the looping options and tell it single frame, first 1.
Then move along your timeline to where you want the animation to start playing. Add a keyframe. Now select Once, first 1.
Now it will start playing, you will be able to see it play as you scrub the timeline.
If you use movieclips and code for this, you won't be able to see them play together as you scrub the timeline.

HELP NEEDED: Use a new record for a customized table as a workflow trigger

Good day!
One of our requirements is to have the creation of a new record in a custom database table trigger a workflow. I read and followed the steps as indicated in this link

As a summary, here is what I did:
1. Created a subroutine for the custom table ZPA2003 for the create event
2. Defined this event as a trigger for the custom workflow WS90000019
3. Maintained and activated the event linkage via SWETYPV
Basically I tried following the instructions indicated on the link
Note that the entries for the custom table are created via a function module.
Now during testing of the workflow, the system was able to complete the notification message. However, when I triggered the event via creation of the entry in the custom db table nothing happened
1. Is there a way to debug/find out whether the link between the subroutine in the table and event itself are connected?
2. I also tried running the event trace to check the activities executed but found nothing.
Can you guys help me check on what I may have missed out?

Basically these are the requirements for the work schedule substitution:
1. Employee enters the request via ESS (custom portal transaction)
2. Upon saving of the entry (request) in a custom table, this should trigger the workflow at the backend
3. The Manager should then receive a work item in his Universal Worklist at the MSS side of the portal
4. Upon clicking on the work item, a new screen will pop up showing the work schedule substitution details as well as an interface which will allow him to enter his/her usage decision
5. Depending on the decision, the workflow must execute the necessary notifications as well as changes in the custom and PA2003 tables
Now, we have accomplished step 1 and I am currently in the process for step 2. Now I have some queries:
1. For the Manager to view and approve the substitution details, I used two methods for each process (view and approve) since our ABAPer mentioned that this cannot be done in 1 function module. Is there a way to simplify this step or is it really valid that they need to be executed in 2 different methods?
2. As per our ABAPer, function Modules only import and export variables; they do not have the facility of say having tags on the details being displayed. Hence, if the details are 10001 (Employee Number), 10/20/2011 (Start Date), 10/25/2011 (End Date) the output would be 10001, 10/20/2011, 10/25/2011. Is there a way within the function module (or dynpro interface) to show it like this: Employee Number: 10001
Start Date: 10/20/2011
End Date: 10/25/2011
3. Speaking of dynpro applications, do I need to still develop one to allow the Manager to view and approve/reject the request via the MSS portal upon accessing the work item via the UWL? How would the work item go about calling the dynpro application? or is this even possible?
It would have been easier if the facility would not pass through workflows since it will be just direct web dynpro/ABAP calls. Having to include it as a work item in the UWL puts a certain twist to it

I need to swap out HTML special characters for their corresponding symbols.
The text field in question obviously contains many number codes, e.g. ' for an apostrophe (') and I would like to write a formula which replaces these for it's corresponding text character.
How would I go about this? I know how to use replace for single entries, e.g. Replace(, "'", "'"); but how do I apply this to multiple entries?
I have been using Crystal syntax for other formulas in the report (not sure if Basic and Crystal can be used?).

Yeah it seems using a combination of Basic and Crystal syntax is possible in CR9.
I simply created the following formula in the end:

Help needed using VISA to communicate w/ PCI2PCI Bridge.

Hi,
I am trying to use VISA to communicate with a PCI board that I am developing. The board has a PCI to PCI Bridge (DEC 21150) that then connects to multiple PCI devices on its secondary side. I can see my end secondary PCI bus devices using MAX but I cannot get MAX to recognize my bridge (I need to be able to access the bridges registers for certain applications). Am I doing something incorrect or trying to do something that is not supported?

Issue is already fixed, thats fine.
Additional info:
(1) With  $xminutes="60"
you define a string, not number. AddMinutes() requires a number (a double value).
Powershell automatically converts your string into a number before handing it over to AddMinutes.
It is better to write
$xminutes=60
(2) The ? is a short alias for
Where-Object
. I avoid "?" and use the "longer" alias  Where
instead: It still is shorter than "where-object" but it is clear and easier to read.
The same with "%":
%=foreach=ForEach-Object
I'm used to avoid % , I prefer
foreach.

Help needed using multiple midi controllers with logic as rewire master

Hi all, i've been using logic 8 for a while now and have finally settled down after learning lots of digital production theory, to sorting my studio setup and start producing for real.
My setup includes 1 24" iMac 2.56ghz with profire610 interface, 1 behringer bcf2000, 1 mpk61, 1 apc40 and I'm using logic 8 with reason 5 and live 8 rewired and have recently brought in the komplete 7, sylenth and max5 plug-ins. My aim is to assign the behringer to logic to control it's tracks in the mixer, the apc40 with ableton (obviously!) and the keyboard switching between all three daws but more importantly keeping the mpc pads for the kong drum designer in reason.
Am I right in thinking logics environment section can offer me a workable option to get complete routing control over the midi messaging between the controllers and the daws??
Have I explained myself right?

I am trying to convert PNG and PSD files to vectors but can't get my traced images to look exactly like the originals. They look very "vector". What settings do I use to trace the images and keep them identical to the originals?

Depending on your source material, probably not at all... Consider a few things:
For all intents and purposes, the algorithm is limited to only so many colors and each trace area has to have a minimum size or meet other criteria.
Tracing precision is dependent on how the image has been pre-processed in terms of contrast etc..
Even if there were a way to use more colors an trace each individual pixel, you'd end up with so many individual objects, working with them would become unfeasible since even a simple panning around would lead to minutes of waiting for the program to re-render the screen. Actualyl doing anything with teh file would be nigh impossible.
If there were that many vectors, your files would become huge.
Rendered vectors still look different than pixels due to how they calculate antialiasing etc.
So, the way I see it, you may have yourself locked in a wrong way of thinking here and hoping to achieve something that isn't possible. If your source images already contain a large number of fine details, you will not be able to let them trace automatically and instead will have to rebuild them the old-fashioned way by using AI's native toolset to control their appearance. If you are referring to tracing cartoon-style content with already reduced color and distinct areas, then it may be possible, but you still need to provide more details about your current settings and possibly screenshots...

Hey,recently i had successfully been using this set up.The wireless worked perfectly without any problems.However,setting it up to work was not so easy.
And now my wireless routers setting were restored to default and I am unable to get the two working together.Can you guys give me some advice please?
ie Should the WRT54GS be operating in router mode or gateway mode and should both have DHCP turned on?

Help needed using ITunes Match for Music and freeing up space on IPad?

I have moved my music from IPad to ITunes Match Cloud. I find that it is just copied there and is still on my IPAD. I am trying to free up space on my IPad so do I delete the music on my IPad, or do I delete the music on my IMac and sync to remov

King Penguin's advice is always sound, spot on and he has really give you the best all around solution for what you want to do....but you can also delete your music directly from the iPad and download it again when you want it again. These days, not all people use iTunes with their iPads and many iPad owners dont even own computers. I assume that you do have a computer running iTunes since you asked about iTunes Match, but since you didn't know how ITM works, maybe you don't own a computer, so I'm just offering another alternative.
You can go to Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage>Music and remove music in there via the Edit button as well as swiping across songs or albums in the music app in order to get the red delete button. If you want to download the music again, just go to the purchased tab of the iTunes app, tap on Music, Not on this iPad and all of your purchased music will appear. You can also go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Show All Music>on. That will make all of your music in the cloud appear in the music app and you can tap on the cloud icon in order to download the songs again.
The only caveat to this solution is that of the music is no longer available in the iTunes Store, you cannot download it again. On occasion, things do get removed from the iStores, so it is possible that could happen.

Help needed using CSS positioning for movie/text

I have been deconstructing a few sites to get a better
understanding of CSS for a simple portfolio.
Anyway, I have a simple navigation set up in place which I
want to place my movie next to. The problem is that I can't work
out how to place it next to the buttons...
