Help ... Pink Artifacts

Hi
We are testing using Flash Media Encoder to encode a live
stream from a video camera, then using Flash Media Server to allow
us to view the live stream from remote machines. The problem that
we are experiencing is that every few seconds unwanted pink
artifacts are appearing within the live video for up to a second or
more.
We have tried every setting under the sun to remove this
within the Encoder. But simply cannot do so. Initially we thought
that it might be a network issue, but we now have encoder and
server running on the same machine and viewing the flash on the
machine still shows up the problem. Our settings are...
320 x 240
15 fps
1000 kbps
keyframe at 1
Reducing the bitrate helps, but we need a good quality output
so this isn't a long term solution.
Any ideas or advice would be very gratefully received as this
is project critical and I'm hoping that it is something silly that
we have done at our end.
TIA
James

Hi
We have tried two approaches ...
1) Home video camera on Hauppauge WinTV video capture card.
2) Professional video camera on KWorld USB video capture
device.
The problem gets worse with time, and gets really bad after
about six hours, which suggests a memory leak or similar within the
Adobe code?
I have included the first half of the log file.
Thanks
James

  • Red/Pink artifacts on second (TV) display!

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT card in my Mac Pro (2007) system connected to one Philips 22" LCD via DVI and the other connected to my Sharp Aquos LC-52XD1E via DVI->HDMI converter and HDMI cable to the LCD TV. During a long time it has been all great, but now when I watching a movie with VLC, QT or some other video software, I get red/pink artifacts all over the screen! See details on the photo link below.
    http://picasaweb.google.se/perra.osterlund/ScreenIssue#5343025819636620338
I have tried to re-seat the card, changed the outputs, changed the DVI->HDMI converter, changed the HDMI cable, changed the HDMI input on the TV, but nothing is changed, still having the issue. I suspect that the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT is beginning to collapse...
    Someone who have any idea?

This is a known issue with the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT card and with the extended warranty it can be replaced!

  • HELP! Artifacts pop up when after refine edge applied to selection!

I have had PS Elements 7.0 for 2 years and it always ran fine. A few months ago a problem came up. It always happens when I'm working with the smart brush tool or lasso, I'll make a selection and refine the edge or feather, and suddenly my selection will go crazy and pixilate or the whole picture will get line artifacts running through. When it first started happening, I would simply close down the program and reopen it. Then I'd be able to work on maybe 30 photos before it'd happen again. Unfortunately, the problem got progressively worse, until finally, I just uninstalled it and re-installed it. That didn't help, so I uninstalled it again and bought Elements 9.0. That didn't solve it either! The problem has gotten so bad that I can't even edit one picture! YIKES! So I called Adobe twice and they couldn't figure it out...they were in my computer and saw the problem as it was happening but were totally stumped! I took my computer (Windows 7 64 bit) in to the place that built it for me last year, and the guys installed a new motherboard and operating system, but the problem is still happening. The latest, is that I have a loaner laptop (Windows XP-different operating system) with my copy of Elements 9 installed on it (so that ideally, I could finally get some work done!) and guess what, it's doing it AGAIN!! Have you ever heard of anything like this? I'm so desperate for a solution that at this point I'll try anything!!
In addition, it has started doing it with the Correct Camera Distortion -- vignette filter!

Two things to check on your Win7 x64 computer:
Start...Control Panel...Display will show this window.  Make sure you have the default text size selected:
In the left panel, select "Change display settings" and ensure the right display is selected and the highest (recommended) resolution is set, as well as the correct orientation:
    |
If you change any of these settings, restart your computer before testing PSE9 again.

  • Pink Artifacts Appear Randomly on Screen

I'm using a brand new iMac G5, and randomly, the screen has pink or discolored artifacts. When the area with the pink is refreshed, it goes away, but is still very annoying and presistant. Even when changing the background, and other system changes, it still persists. I have linked some pictures of what it looks like:
    http://r.beta30.googlepages.com/Picture2.png

    http://r.beta30.googlepages.com/Picture5.png
    http://r.beta30.googlepages.com/Picture6.png

Okay, if it's brand new, it can't be an imac G5, since that was the chip used before the intel chips. Is this an aluminum imac? If so, is it the 24" model?

  • Need help: diagonal artifact blocks problem

I just bought a new MSI 9800 PRO TD128SP and I'm having a problem in all games and applications that use any 3d.
There are diagonal artifacts of blocks throughout the entire screen, and I can't find a way to correct this.
Here is a small image of what it looks like :
It is not necessarily the best image but the pattern is repetitive and diagonal...
Does someone know what is the problem ? Does the card have a dead pipeline ? Or is it something else ?
    Thanks for your input
Here are my specs by the way:
    AMD64 3000+
    Asus K8V-SE Deluxe
    Antec Sonata /w 380watt PSU
    2x512meg Kingston PC3200
    200gigs Seagate SATA
    No overclocking

Sounds like the card is bad.  Mine had similar problems after a month of use.  It was the R360 core green card.  I RMA'd it and got back another green card with the R350 core and have had no problems so far.  I do not overclock either.  The performance seems to be about the same though I've been told the R360 is supposed to have a slight edge in performance and graphics quality.  My guess is that the damage is most likely due to heat.  These cards tend to run pretty hot and you may need to check your ventilation and get more airflow.  Maybe you had a bad core to start with as, from what I'm told, the R360's on the pro's are cores that couldnt meet XT specs(which is why they show up as XT).  So maybe you got a bad one in the batch.  I know your specs say no overclocking but did you ever OC it at all?  If so maybe that damaged it.  Could also be possible static damage from the installation.
Those are my guesses.  I would RMA it but that could take up to a month to get the new one.  Mine took a while.  I had to email them after the card sat in processing for a few weeks and then I had a tracking number the next day.  So if it's going slow and you get impatient like I did just send a friendly email asking for an update and maybe you'll have similar luck.  That's what I did.
Maybe try getting some better airflow first or just RMA it if you think you have enough.  Just know that you might get a different model of the same card back.
    Goodluck

  • NX6600gt-vtd128sp AGP Artifacts please help

Hello all, i have had my MSI 6600gt Sp for about 6 months now and i seem to be having a problem.
This past week i have been getting REALLY bad artifacts. The card is NOT overclocked but my processor was. The agp/pci bus was LOCKED so i know that didnt get hurt. Power supply is only a few months old and appears to be putting ok good voltages. I have tried a different power supply and that didnt help. I checked the cards temps by running my games in windowed mode, the temps didnt ever go above 70 degrees C. I also tried switch RAM

I get these artifacts as soon as i get in the game.
Now, the only thing that seemed to help was installing the drivers that came with the card which i think was 71.25.   I installed 76.45 and i got major artifacts again. I would try installing the card in a different computer but that is NOT an option
The only thing i noticed was the HSI (High speed interconnect...because its agp) seems to get really hot. I took off the HS and put on AS5 but that didnt help the artifacts

  • All the white areas of my display are a rapidly flashing pink grid! What did I knock loose?

I have a mid-2010 Macbook Pro 15-inch. I installed a Seagate 1TB SSHD into the optical drive slot a few months ago. It stopped working so I removed for return. I closed the thing up, turned it on, and suddenly (almost) all white spaces on my screen are now pink! A flashing pink grid, to be precise. For example, white icons on my desktop have a few flashing pink artifacts, and most of the white areas on pages in my browser (Chrome) are almost entirely pink.
I've opened the laptop many times before to install ram, HDDs, etc and I've never had any issue. FWIW, a few months ago the logic board was replaced by Apple due to the infamous graphics switching error.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? Could I have knocked something loose? Touched the wrong thing? Shocked the logic board?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have this exact problem - light gray is fine. Goes to pure white, and it raidly flashes a pink grid. Your post is the ONLY one I have seen just like it. And, I noticed no replies.   What did you do to remedy? Or, did you find out it was a fatal problem? Any insight would be helpful before I go spend a lot on diagnostics...

  • Pink Monitor

Hi - the background color of the monitor of my iMac G4 flat screen have suddenly turned very pink. The start up screen is pale pink with a lovely pink apple logo. I suspect that the monitor is going kaput and I'd probably better back up my data and buy a new Mac....I'm not sure it would be worth replacing the monitor if it even could be done. Has anyone had a problem like this before? Or a suggestion?
    Thanks so much,
    Kate

Not sure if the change of backlight color is actually the light color itself
or a defective inverter or other supply circuit (data or power) failing.
Some other users online have seen similar color shift in the display
and sometimes with lines through it; other times just a pink hue. An-
other article or saved archive page online was about a 20" iMac G4
and color hues; it also went on into other display issues & fixes.
This may not exactly be of help, (pink hue) but it is worth a look:
    http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-54887.html
There is a cable that goes through to the lcd screen. If one of the
connections comes loose or breaks, it can cause one or more of
the colors to drop out; or if the Inverter board or cables in the display
arm start going out, colors and other information going to the display
can be messed up. This would require a qualified repair person to
troubleshoot and attempt a repair. An estimate is advised, and with
a qualified one from someone capable of the repair, you then would
know if this kind of repair is within your current computing budget.
That said, there are some nice newer iMacs with Intel processors
at the Apple Store online (see Special Deals certified product link.)
These are tempting; so watch the specifications. Sometimes, a
newest model from the regular page of iMacs is a better deal...!
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Cannot start rc.sysinit help :(

I am not sure what I actually did here but I started up my computer last night and it said cannot start my rc.sysinit which from what I have read it what goes thru your initscripts which is a big deal.  I have tried to chroot into my system to run pacman -S initscripts but I get a cannot run /bin/bash and am not sure how to fix this.
I am a medium linux user which means I can figure a few things but this kind of stuff is over my head right now.

  • G5, Dell 30 inch monitor, Radeon Mac9600 PRO 256MB

When I ordered this monitor, I read that my computer should have a dual-link DVI-D compatible graphics card. I had a dual-link DVI card, but soon found that the one I had didn't support the higher resolution of the 30 inch monitor. Apparently, the only card that does work with the bus structure on my G5, (which is AGP8X), is the recently discontinued Radeon Mac9600 PRO 256MB.
Since I couldn't find one that was actually in stock from the likes of CDW, I tracked one down on eBay. What is unfortunate is that while it does indeed support this resolution, there is a lot of crazy pink artifacting (for lack of a better description) that is going on all over the screen. There are also static-like lines that zip around occasionally. I am assuming that this has something to do with the card (I have now tried 2 different 9600 cards) as the problem was not present when driving the monitor with a lower resolution-supporting card.
Any ideas how to remedy this other than buying a new computer that supports the newer PCI-E cards that might alleviate the problem?
I am also wondering if I end up having to selling this monitor because the problem is unsolvable and I purchase the Dell SP2309W, 23inch, will I have the same problem because of my G5's "ancient" bus structure..?
As a side note, I have two Apple 23 inch cinema displays, both of which have gone pink on me, so I am not inclined to purchase an Apple display again.
In advance, I really, really appreciated the assistance. When did this all get so darned complicated?

    Hi Steve,
Thanks so much for the response.
I originally had a Radeon 9600 128MB card which did not support the higher resolution on the Dell 30". However, when the 30" was running from the 9600 128MB until I could get the newer card, I did not have this pink artifacting problem, so that leads me to believe that it is not the cable. However, my husband is bringing one home tonight to try anyway.
I have tried two Radeon Mac9600 Pro 256 MB cards, thinking the first might be defective, and still have the same problem. So, unless both cards are defective, it is something else. I have searched around online trying to find an answer, but all I seem to find are folks mentioning the same problem (with a variety of cards & monitors), but nobody seems to offer an answer that actually solves it.
I appreciate the input regarding the smaller monitor. I thought that might be the case, but at this point, I take nothing for granted. This just all seems overly complicated
As for the other cards (nVidia 6800, and ATi's X800), I cannot seem to find one of either that is actually available for purchase - and AGP, and MAC OS X, and 256 MB, and Dual link DVI. What I have heard is that the AGP bus structure is "ancient" and that nobody is actually manufacturing these cards any longer.
The other issue that comes to mind, is that if I find one of the above cards (I think I found one on Amazon - used for $499) I could get it, and find I still have the same issue. Refer to my comment regarding other posters who seem to have the same issue with a variety of cards/monitors. I just thought that somebody, somewhere had to have encountered this and knew how to fix it or at least what it might be.

  • Problem with importing raw files

i get this weird pink artifact in a horizontal line down all my rw2 files. im using a macosx leopard pshop extended 5.1 , camera is a gh2 panasonic , can anyone tell me whats wrong please? im new to photoshop/digital photography.

Looks like a hardware issue.  If the artifacts do not print, it could be your video display card.
However, more likely is a hard disk, SCD card, or USB cable/connection problem.  In all of these cases, the artifacts would print.
If you can post a link to one of the affected raw image files, others can attempt to open it on their/our computer.
