Help! Playbook OS upgrade blew me away - cannot connect to Desktop SW anymore

I got notice of an OS upgrade and accepted it.  After upgrading the OS and upgrading the Desktop and Driver on my Win 7/64-bit laptop, I can no longer successfully connect my Playbook to the Desktop Manager on my laptop.
OS is 2.0.1.358
BB Device Manager is 7.0
BB Desktop SW is 7.2011 (Bundle 38)
I have done everything I can thing of, rerunning the process 12 times without joy.   My Playbook says, "Connected to Computer" and I can see the CD directory, but the Desktop SW says, "Disconnected" no matter what I do.  I have tried multiple USB cables, rebooted both the PB and the laptop numerous times, yet each time I attempt to connect, the Desktop SW says "Disconnected."
I am hoping, since I made sure not to check the box to delete everything when I reinstalled the Desktop SW, that the pictures and apps I had installed on the initial version of 2.0 have not been tossed.  Apparently, the AppStore does not keep track of what apps I have bought or installed previously, so I think they are all lost forever.  I can reload many of the pictures I had on it before, but some I haven't transferred may be lost forever.  I am not seeing a "safety net" - heck, my Amazon account remembers everything I put on my Kindle.
I had been doing a full backup via the Desktop SW every week, just in case, but if reinstalling the Desktop SW dumped everything I am going to have to find a safer and more reliable means of backing up in the future.
If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate hearing them.  I really would like to get my PB back into working order, preferably with all the apps and pictures I had on it before...
Mikey

Can you start the "firmware recovery"-mode  ? (Connect  playbook powerd off to pc, then a message for recovery will appear?)
My W-Lan is completely secure. Wether I nor a hacker would use it with a playbook

  • Since upgrading to Lion I cannot connect to my Buffalo Terastation

Since upgrading to Lion I cannot connect to my Buffalo Terastation and get the following message. "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem".  I have updated the firmware on the Terastation but still can’t connect to it. I have also posted this message on the Buffalo forum. Any suggestions?

Lion changed the rules for NAS communication.  See this Web page.  As that page dates from last July, I'd hope that NAS vendors would have fixed things by now.  I'd ask Buffalo directly whether that product supports the protocol(s) described in that article.

    Just to be clear.
AIM stands for AOL Instant Message.  So an AIM Password is an AOL Instant Message password.
An Apple ID issued by Apple (@mac.com and iCloud issued @me.com and @icloud.com  ending IDs) can also be valid AIM Screen Names
In the past the password at Apple had to comply with the AIM limit of 16 characters.
I have seen a recent post that suggests that this limit may have changed.
Try logging in here if the Name was registered at AIM or is an @mac.com name

(You cannot log in here with an @iCloud.com or @me.com ending ID as there are addtional checks in iChat 6 and upwards that invloved logins to both Apple And AIM at the same time to confirm access to the password).

  • Upgraded to Mavericks and cannot connect AIM to Messages

I recently upgraded to Mavericks and decided to try out the Messages app for instant messaging for the first time.
For some reason, I cannot connect my AIM accounts to work with Messages even though they have always worked perfectly fine through Adium. Everytime I've tried to do so I get the message - An unknown error occured.
Having never used Messages before, I have no idea if this is a common thing. Has anyone had the same experirence since upgrading?

  • HT4623 upgrading to ios 7, cannot connect to apple store to activate iphone

My iphone 5 is connected to my windows 8 PC running the latest version of iTunes. The PC has no connectivity problems. But my iPhone cannot connect to the iTunes store to activate the recentely upgraded phone (to IOS 7). There have been a number of error messages. The latest was as follows:
"We could not complete youre iTunes Store request. And unknown error occured (0x80090304).
There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later"
This has been going on for over an hour.
Is this just an issue with too many people trying to activate at the same time? Which implies that this SHOULD work later. Or is there a problem specific to my phone/software?

Same problem here. Getting used to the idea I probably won't have use of my phone for the rest of the day. My mistake was attempting to eject a USB drive as the software was upgrading on the iPhone (4s). Immediately received an error message and was forced to select Restore iPhone as my only option. After Restore successfully completed getting the phone to factory settings with ios7 loaded, the activation process began. This is where the nightmare took over. Activation needs to contact the Apple Servers via iTunes Store apparently. So, yeah, gonna have to wait until the US is asleep tonight to get through, in all likelihood. Would have been nice had Apple posted a clearer warning to disconnect all other peripherals during upgrade. But with Jobs now dead, there's not as much interest in attempting to simulate how users might break the system before public release. Ah well. Nothing for it now but to wait.

  • HELP!!!!! I Cannot Connect to the Internet!!!!!!

I just connected my WRT54G router to my modem and hard wired my computer to port 1 on the back of the router............I cannot connect to the internet, but can connect to the router using 192.168.1.1. I am on a DSL connection. Any suggestions????           THANKS!!!!

If  you were able to access the router's set-up page using the default gateway 192.168.1.1 with the modem already connected to the internet port of the router, it means that the default of the modem does not conflict with that of the router. if you cant go online, check the status tab and check for IP address. If you got values/numbers there, it should get you online. if not, if they are all 0.0.0.0, it means that you were still not able to establish connection with both devices.
try to connect your modem straight to the computer, if you cannot go online (since you have DSL connection), try to remember if your ISP gave you a username and password. Your modem is set to full bridged so in order for the router to work with the modem, set the Internet Connection type to " PPPoE" (you can see this under Set-Up tab).. and try to check if you can have IP address.
Or if there's no user name and password from ISP. configure first the router without connecting the modem. then change the router's IP address. then connect the router and configure. it should work now. just configure the wireless settings later after you are sure that you are online directly with the router.

  • Cannot connect with Desktop Software

    Hi,
Now, I am trying really hard to have faith in my Blackberry products. I must tell you, it's not easy. Last month, I ran into a lot of problems when backing up and updating my Torch (link: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Torch/Password-manager-data-lost-during-update/m-p..., and this time, I have problems hooking 2 tablets to my Desktop software.
    Here is now my problem:
The Desktop Softwre takes at least 4 minutes to connect to my tablet. Once it connects, I can't have access to the left side menu, where it says: "Files" and also the "Video" menu. When I click there, it says: “A problem occurred while attempting to connect to your blackberry device” Therefore, I cannot transfer any files and videos into my Playbooks.
Also, the computer doesn't recognize it as an additional drive/memory. So, I cannot drag and drop files/videos that way neither. I know I was able to do this the first day I got my playbooks as I did transfer a couple of videos that way.
These 2 playbooks are barely new - and both cannot be hooked with the BB Sofware, therefore, I think my problem may be with the software, not with the units. Please help me.
    Thanks so much !!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Turns out to be my WiFi. I don't know why, but I have to turn off WiFi on both of the tablets to be able to have it linked with my PC.
OK, I can live with that.
    Thanks guys for your replies.

  • Cannot connect to the device anymore

I have been using the above device (HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer - B111a), for several months, to print, scan and copy. The printer is configured wirelessly and is used by 2 different PCs (a desktop running Windows 8 and a laptop running Windows 7). Today, don't know for what reason, we cannot connect to the device from either of the two machines. I've unsuccessfully tried to re-set the wireless connection twice, including by re-running the set-up program. The printer function itself DOES work, it’s the wireless connection that doesn’t, as written in a diagnostic report I printed after failing to set up the device again using the device’s menu: “Your HP printer is unable to connect to your wireless router ... caused by the settings on the router ... and suggesting to change the wireless router encryption setting to “WPA-AES” or “WPA-AES or TKIP” and run the Wireless Setup Wizard again” . message and the webpage times out. If I try to run the setup from the Photosmart software on the PC, I get a message “The server at 192.168.0.20 is taking too long to respond” and the connection never occurs. ALSO, I've received a couple of errors saying that if I installed the printer by IP address, I might need to update the IP address and to use the Update IP Address item in the Start menu entry for the printer. I don't think I used the IP Address method to install the printer in the first place and, at any rate, I don't know where to find the Start menu for the printer.
    Is anybody able to help?
    Thanks, Franco

Welcome back to the HP Community @Franco111 !
I hope to lend you a hand with the wireless connection issues you are currently have with your Photosmart 5510 and your network.
I would first suggest power cycling the network devices, in this order:
Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer.
Run the Print and Scan Doctor to see if the tool can detect the printer on your network now.
If you are still not connected, try scoping out and trying this guide: HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer Series - Unable to Connect to a Wireless Network When Using ...
When you print out the Wireless Network Test Report, you will see your IP address. Try accessing the Embedded Web Server (printers webpage), from your PC by typing in the IP address in to a web browser.
If you are still getting a message to check your router settings, here is what you are looking to check over:
Network name and password to have no spaces or punctuation.
If using WPA2 security, switch to WPA personal.
Dual broadcast Wireless b/g/n (printer may connect to g).
    Turn Mac Filtering Off.
Firewall settings need to be at their default settings, or set to a lower security.
    Multicasting "on".
Following ports need to be un-blocked:
    Incoming (UDP) ports : 137, 138, 161, 427
    Outgoing (TCP) ports : 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500
Let me know the results so far and we will go from there!

  • Recently Upgraded to Windows 8, cannot connect to store

I am unable to connect  to the itunes store.  I get an error message "Itunes could not connect to the itunes store....."  Ending with an 0x80090330.  I AM obviously connected to the internet and have also checked to make sure itunes is allowed through my firewall etc.  My passwords etc are correct as well (I have tried basic troubleshooting.  I am computer literate.)  Also, I cannot update quicktime using the apple software update app.  It gives me an error message saying that it has an invalid signature and will not be installed.   I even tried downgrading to itunes 9, but that did not work either.  I have done some searching on the forums, which the error number led me to a program that had something to do with a time stamp in the registry or something like that, but could not get the program to run on my OS.  Help here would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks I cannot connect to internet nor run apps like steam?

I installed Mavericks without a problem but after restarting I did not have internet connection. I tried restarting the modem and the router but nothing happens. It connected to router but claims their is no IP? So finally after about an hour of fiddling around with the modems and my computer I gave up and decided to reinstall Mavericks through the CMD+R during boot. Low and behold it finally connected me to the internet, but when I try to run applications such as steam and Minecraft it says that there is no internet connection available? I am very confused, I can load web pages and the app store on my MacProRetina 15" and yes I have reinstalled both minecraft and steam. Steam is stuck on "checking for available update" and minecraft claims their is no internet connection. I have updated Java, deleted both apps and nothing. Can someone please help me out?

You don't need to go to the App Store to for support for Steam and Minecraft. You need to go to their website(s).
    You're welcome

  • Can you help me guys plss..coz i cannot connect to itunes nor to open mycan y application what will i do to fixed it?also asking for sandbox i dont know that one

can youhelp me guys because i cannot open or connect to itunes even application or games i cannot open or to play..asking for sandbox and i dont know what is sadbox is and how to make signing forsandbox..thanx in advance for those willing to for answering my question

I don't quite understand your question. But you might try the first troubleshooting step of a reset of your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Restore from iphone4 itunes backup stops after upgrade to ios6. does it have to do with my computer settings as it starts hanging and cannot connect to the internet anymore either till I restart.

I have the latest version of iTunes and the iOS6 installed on my iPhone4. The restore from my iTunes backup stops at the end of the recovery process though. Do I need to change anything in my computer settings to let it totally finish?

I recently upgraded to 10.5.8 from 10.3.9. I have a Powerbook G4. All was working well with no problems until I upgraded. Initially, everything was still working fine then after about a week it stopped connecting to the internet both wirelessly and via ethernet. It was down for about 2 weeks when I started to 'play' with the settings. I don't know what I did, but it worked again. The computer stopped working again about a month ago and I just am now getting to it. I don't know what else to do and why it stopped.

  • I need help!. My Nokia C3-00 cannot connect to any...

    Hello,
I've bought Nokia c3-00 for almost two weeks but still couldn't connect to the wlan, internet, mail, chat or community. Every time I try to connect this message always appears "Temporary Network Problem" and "Link Not Available." Only the Bluetooth that works well. Is it because my phone has some problem or my network provider doesn't provide proper service for me?

    Hi,
    I
First check with your network provider that you receive the network settings for cellular connection.
We have created also this FAQ:
Select menu > Settings > Connectivity > WLAN > Available WLANs >  choose the WiFi network name you wish to connect
Select Menu > Settings > Configuration >Personal settings  > Add new > Access Point > Write the name of the WLAN access point you wish to connect
Select Menu > Settings and Configuration > Preferred access point — View the saved access points and choose the preferred WLAN access point.
Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > WLAN > Internet Connection :Ask first
you are asked for the connection method every time you open an application that requires an Internet connection such as Browser or Mail.
