Why is your Reponse class not public?Because that would cause a compiler error?Thanks tsith!
Maybe I misunderstand your reply.
I am sure you had no idea what I meant. I'll try to make it clear.
Is there any reason why it is defined as an inner class?It's not an inner class, it's a top-level class, hence tsith's responseActually, it is defined as an inner class, but the lack of code formatting makes this hard to see:
import java.util.*;
public class Test {
    public static void main (String[] args) {
        Reponse r = new Reponse ();
        r.demander ();
        System.out.println (r.getBP () + " " + r.getMP ());
    class Reponse {
        public void demander () {
        public int getBP () {
            return (nbBP);
        public int getMP () {
            return (nbMP);
        private int nbBP, nbMP;
}Why an inner class? My guess is that the OP doesn't know what he is doing.

  • RMI: problem with static context

    I'm trying to do my first RMI application. I have a strange problem. That is I get an error says:
    "non-static method authenticate(String userid, String password) cannot be referenced from a static context". The problem is that the context that I call the method is not static. here is the code that I've implementet (or lets say: trying to implement).
         public Session getSession(String userid, String password) {
              Session     session = null;;
              boolean authenticated     = UserManager.authenticate(userid, password);
              if( authenticated ){
                   try{
                        session = new Session();
                        session.setSessionId(s_next_session_id);
                   }catch(java.rmi.RemoteException e){
                        e.printStackTrace();
                        System.err.println(e.toString());
              } else {
                   // throw Exception();
              return (session);
    What am I missing here. The context (getSession()) is not static, neither is my method in UserManager. What is wrong? Can anybody help me.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problems with external context mapping

    Hi ,
    I am having the following problems with external context mapping from one WD component to another.
    Problem description:
    In the <i>Component Interfaces</i> I have defined a WD interface "InfA".
    In the <i>interface controller</i> of this compoenent,I have ContextA and attributeA(cardinality 1..1).The contextA is marked as an "Input Element".
    Now my webdynpro componentB adds InfA as used component.In componentB I decalre a contextB with attributeB and map it to contextA to set up the external context mapping.
    Now I expect that if any webdynpro component implements this WD interface InfA ,he has access to contextA with the data getting filled from contextB.
    After i have created the component for the used component I try to fill values in the source node contextB thru this code:
    wdContext.currentContextB.setB(value);
    But in the runtime I keep getting error nullPointerException for nodeContextB,suggesting that the mapping has not been completed.
    Can anyone suggest due to what the error can come ,and, if its a webdynpro bug ,is there a workaround??
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Best regards
    Sourav

    HI,
    Valery : I personally checked  by doing the example, if the names of value attribute are different in the child's interface and parents component controller then it throws the exception.
    Sourav: NullPointer Exception is thrown when something is not properly initialised, if in the main component the cardinality of mapped origin is 1.1 then you need to access it element directly like:
    wdContext.currentParentNodeElement().setFname("Abhijeet");
        wdContext.currentParentNodeElement().setLname("M");
    i will suggest just check out if you are declaring some element of value node and without initialising taking its use or what?
    if this doesnt solve your problem, please post the expanded exception.
    hope it helps
    let me know if you face nay problem

  • Problem with static and nonstatic objects in same code?

    Hi everyone, I am working on a project and I kept running into an odd problem where my code would compile but when I went to run the code I would get an exception. I finally narrowed my problem down to a small fragment. Here is an example.
    class Mut{
    static Mut Fido = new Mut();
    Mut Sammy = new Mut();
    public static void main(String args[]){
    This piece of code will compile but when I run it on an WindowsXP machine the JRE tells me there is an exception at line 3. If I change the code to this:
    class Mut{
    static Mut Fido = new Mut();
    static Mut Sammy = new Mut();
    public static void main(String args[]){
    The code runs fine without any problems. My question is: why can't I create a static object and a nonstatic object in the same class? Is this a certain feature of JAVA I don't understand or is this a blackbox problem with XP? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
    Vance

    Is the exception stack trace what is displayed in the command-line window? If it is here is what is displayed(This is a lot):

  • Problem with static display...

    Hi All,
    I have a problem with my computer displaying a static screen... See model and OS below.
    Sometimes when I am booting up, the screen will display a static-like display. This happens only once in a great while. Sometimes it will happen when waking from sleep. Recently however, it has happened while using the computer right in the middle of doing something...! So I unplugged the monitor connection and plugged it back in... voila! The computer screen comes back! One thing I do know is that the computer is operating behind the static. Just that the image is not displaying what it is supposed to display.
    I've run AHT and it finds nothing. Would this be a graphics card problem (my guess)? Or other? I just read this thread...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1947029&tstart=0
    ... and they have found no solution either. Not sure if it's the same problem over several versions of OSX and graphic cards, which makes me think it could be a software problem.
    An image of my screen with all the static can be found here:
    http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk19/wanoyee/DSCF2445.jpg
    This is on a 27" Dell display.
    Does anyone know if this is a software issue or hardware issue? Fixes? Anyone else with this problem?
    Thanks for any help.

    Display card is stock Radeon ATI 5770. I'm using a single DVI cable connected directly to the graphics card using the DVI port. No other adapters/converters. Snowy display seems to happen more often lately.

  • Help - problems with mixin class and recursion

    I'm trying to set up functionality which will allow me to track gui node nesting.
    Basically, I'd like to have an optional name for each node and be able to generate a string which uses these to track descent. So, e.g., if I have "panel1" as my top scene, "control1" as a node within that scene and "image1" as a node within control1, I'd like to be able to produce the string "panel1.control1.image1" with a call to the image1 node.
    I am attempting to do this with a mixin class, as it seems precisely the sort of situation suited to mixins. So I have:
    import java.lang*;
    public mixin class Descent {
        public-init var objName:String = getClass().toString();
        public function getObjDescent():String;
    }When an object is created, it can be assigned a name - or, if there's no assignment, it gets given its class name. When I want the full "descent name" of the object, I'll call getObjDescent(). So far so good.
    But now it gets trickier. The idea is to track descent within javafx nodes. If I don't want to assume everything is set up properly, I've got to cover a few cases:
    (a) the class into which this object is mixed - the mixee - is not a javafx node
    (b) the mixee is a javafx node, but its parent is not
    (c) the mixee is a javafx node and descends from a javafx node
    Thus:
        public function getObjDescent():String
            var build:String="";
            // get parent's name, if it has it
            try {
                var nodeClass:Class[] = [javafx.scene.Node.class];
                var checkIsNode = this.getClass().getMethod("getNodeMaxHeight",nodeClass);
                if ((this as Node).parent != null) {
                    var parentDescentFn = (this as Node).parent.getClass().getMethod("getObjDescent",(null as Class[])) ;
                    build = ((this as Node).parent as Descent).getObjDescent();
                    build = build.concat(".");
            catch (e:NoSuchMethodException)
                build = "";
            build.concat(this.objName);
        };First I have to check if the mixee is a javafx Node. I can't do this by member checking because javafx doesn't support that. So I have to check by methods. I use one of the Node methods - getNodeMaxHeight - if it is defined for the mixee, the mixee is a node. If not, I'll get an error and can abort down to the catch section.
    If this mixee is a node, then it will have a parent node. If that parent also has descent info, I have to prefix that parent's descent name. So now I need to figure out if I can recursively call getObjDescent() on the parent.
    So I do the same getMethod() approach on the parent (if any) to see if it has a name I have to prefix. If not then, again, we abort out to the NoSuchMethodException error catch.
    Now I should be sure that this is a node and its parent has the Descent fields. So I should be safe to call the parent for its info.
    Here I've done this as
    ((this as Node).parent as Descent).getObjDescent().Though that gives me no errors, I'm not sure if that's the right way to cast things - will it look at the wrong portion of the object to find the method call? Better would be to call the function using the parentDescentFn variable, which I've gotten in checking to see if the parent has the Descent class mixed in, but I can't figure out how to go from a java.lang.reflect.Method variable to generating an actual call of that method. So there's a first question.
    However I get to that recursive call, I will get back the parent's descent name. I add my descent separator, '.', and then append the objName of this particular class. Voila - the full descent name.
    Though the above throws no warnings in the editor, it generates two compile errors.
    First, it tells me it cannot find the symbol:
    symbol  : method get$class()
    location: class javafx.scene.Node
                var nodeClass:Class[] = [javafx.scene.Node.class];I need to construct a Class[] containing Node for my call to getMethod in the next line. Is this not the right way to specify the Node class?
    The next error is:
    non-static variable this cannot be referenced from a static context
                var checkIsNode = this.getClass().getMethod("getNodeMaxHeight",nodeClass);I still find what javafx treats as "static" and what non-static to be mystifying. I'm fairly sure I've seen mixin classes which use "this" to grab the mixee object, and I certainly need to do so in this case to check if the mixee is a javafx Node and, subsequently, to get its parent Node.
    So... three problems:
    - Using "this" in a mixin class ... what's messing that up?
    - constructing the Class[] sequence for the first call to getMethod
    - (possibly) properly generating a call to the parent mixee's getObjDescent() method.
    urg.

    RE static vs non-static of this:
    I'm not sure, but I think it's a little less straightforward:
    e.g. if I type:
    var dummy = this; no problem. (This is analogous to what you did.)
    But if I type:
    var dummy = this.getClass();I get the static/non-static error. I take this to reflect the fact that getClass() is not defined by the mixin class, even if it is defined for any object which might use that class. (Perhaps, down deep in the code, "this" has been redirected to point just to that block of memory which gives the implementation of the mixin information?)
    Yet if I type
    var dummy = getClass();it works fine, and returns the class which is implementing the mixin.
    My guess is that "this" is being treated specially with a mixin class - I think, at compile time, if it just says "this" it is ignored by the "mixin" handling and passed along to the regular class compiling to process, but if it is this.method() or this.member, then the mixin class handles it and will throw that error if it gets any methods or members which it did not itself define.
    I haven't had any trouble using the Class objects in javafx, though I don't think I can easily make them do what I, here, specificly want to do. But getClass() seems to work just fine (as long as I don't say this.getClass() !!), as do calls to get or invoke members - I got that one of the 3 problems solved.
    I discovered that javafx seems to flatten its classes out to the single implementation of FXObject - when I attempted to parse the interfaces of the mixee class to see if "Node" was a member (which it should be, conceptually), I only got 2 interfaces: FXObject and my mixin class. So I can't use the Class commands to find out of the mixee class object implements Node or not.
    I also discovered that, given how javafx seems to compile itself into java, I could actually check for members as well as methods: getMethod("loc$parent") would actually return the parent member, if present. So getMethod can be used to check for the presence of both members and methods in javafx classes. I could not figure out, however, how to get from that reference to the value of the object itself - while invoke() works properly for methods, I couldn't get it to work for the members it retrieved. Though I didn't try too terribly hard.
    The getMethod() Class function did allow me to check if a class had my mixin class present - or, at least, if it contained a method with the same name as one defined in that class.
    Ultimately, though, I'm still stuck with trying to answer the questions, given a generic javafx class (implicit in this, which I could get by getClass()):
    - does this mixee class implement Node?
    - if so, what is the value of its "parent" member ((this as Node).parent didn't seem to work within the mixin class' code. Or so it seemed.)
    I've gotten around that problem by adding a Node member to the class, so that, rather than trying to deduce it from "this" or the Class functions, it simply uses its variable. Less elegant and more memory-using, but quicker and, actually, more flexible. That approach solves my immediate problem, though it does leave unanswered the more basic questions raised by the exercise.
    thanks for the feedback!

  • Problem with total context score in COMPARISSION VIEW in SSM

    Dear friends,
    We have scorecard  with 4 contexts (region).Every context has 3 level: perspective ,objective KPIs. Every level get score and all the context get total score .We have requirement to compare between  region context scores. For it we use comparison view. BUT AT comparison  view  we can compare the score of perspective ,objective KPIs but not total score of the context .Total score is disappear.  I don’t know if there is bug or it's a problem of implementation. I very glad to get help from us.
    Best regard,
    Benyamin Orit.

    Hi Orit,
    I do not believe its an implementation problem, I have checked our implementation which is currently running SSM 10.1 sp03  and the context score doesn't appear neither in the comparison view.
    Probably this feature is simply not included yet in this sp. Maybe another colleague can confirm if this feature is included in further sps... but I didn't find any release note mentioning it, and according to a screenshot I just saw (posted by Colin Cooper on the ideas place), it doesn't seem to be included in sp06 (see Colin's screenshot of comparison view without context scores showing).
    In the main time try to work around it, maybe creating a new level (perspective) thats called "context xxx score" and put the rest of the scorecard one level under it, even though it doesn't sound very purist, you should be able to compare all context scores on the comparison view tab.

  • Problems with Static and non-static stuff

    Right now I am trying to work on a RPG and trying to make it all using classes instead of having a Applet run everything and want to call Methods to make / remove the buttons here is the Method I'm dealing with
        public void placeButtons()
            attackBtn.setBounds(200,700,75,25);
            defendBtn.setBounds(200,725,75,25);
            magicBtn.setBounds(275,700,75,25);
            itemBtn.setBounds(275,725,75,25);
            game.add(attackBtn);   // Here is where I am having the problem (non-static method add(java.awt.Component) cannot be referenced from a static context)
            attackBtn.addActionListener(this);
        }Normally I would be making all my buttons in my main class but I want to know if I can make them in a separate class and load them in my main class so I can shorten my code by a ton.

    Generally speaking: Yes: you are only limited by your ingenuity and knowledge.
    //call from other class
    MyButtonClass mbc = new MyButtonClass();
    MyPanel p = new MyPanel();
    p.add(mbc.getMyMainButton());
    //what everAlthough I would think that it may be better to get your entire Frame back for display or a panel... It just seems like it's going to be awkward to work with unless you're making some kind of button generator or something, but then it's your app and from your description, the code given should illustrate a way of getting to the answer you seek.

  • HELP/Problems with pull-down navigator bar

    Hi everyone,
    I was wondering if I could get some input. I have just
    re-designed our magazine's site, www.easternsurf.com
    I used Pop-Up menu function in Fireworks 8 to generate our
    Navigator bar. For the most part everything has been working well,
    BUT we've had a couple of complaints that the navigator bar's
    pull-down menus get stuck behind the photos/banner ads/etc. instead
    of in front of them when viewing in Internet Explorer. I'm on the
    Mac platform (OSX Tiger/Macromedia Studio 8) and have seen no
    problems viewing in Safari, Firefox and Netscape. The only
    complaints have come from Internet Explorer users. A couple of
    people updated their browser to the newest version and the problem
    disappeared, however we've still had a couple of people that have
    written in that the newest version of IE is still not displaying
    properly.
    Also we've got a strip of button ads running down the left
    hand side of each page and I've also seen another issue that's
    common on sites of this type...when the pulldown menu overlaps with
    a Flash element, there is a problem with the screen re-draw. I've
    seen this on several other sites and know it's a common problem,
    but does anyone know of a workaround where this won't happen? I
    just noticed that signing on to Adobe's site, there almost seems to
    be a command where the menu keeps re-drawing at a very rapid rate
    so this won't happen.
    Any input would be greatly appreciated, although I'm Mac all
    the way, we are a business and have to get this site visible for
    everyone!
    Thanks

  • Help - problem with white iphone 4 speaker

    Hi, i have a problem with my white iphone 4 speaker. I know the specs stated that the mic is supposed to be on the left and the right is the speaker but i've compared at least 2 other black iphones 4s and there is some volume from the left side (if you close the right side) whereas mine is practically non-existent. Should i be concerned? Is this specific to the white iphone 4? The local telco has not been helpful - they can only reformat the phone and said that this is a software problem. Anyone with similar experience pls share. Thanks in advance.

    You already know the answer.  ALL iphones, every single one of them, have but one speaker at the bottom.  You have NO ISSUE at all with your speakers.  None.  Nothing is wrong.  At all.  No problem.  None.

  • Problems with static and this

    Hello i am implementing a listener and i try to invoke the listener=this as planned. I am having problems because my method is static and it is so because i need to call that method in my main!
    <code>
         public static void add2hash(String url,ComObject com)
              com= new ComObject(urlPool);
              i++;
              cl = Hashtest;// what to do with this?<-- PROBLEM!!!!
              //new ComObject(); this?
              co.addComListener(cl);
              System.out.println("Let's start!\n ComObject Listening to itself: ");
              String host=str2host(url);
              ht.put(host,co);
              //co.checkStatus();
              //return co.getIs();
    </code>

    RE: tschodt
    I'll start with a comment of agreement :)
    You are having problems because you have yet to grasp the concept of OO.An insightful comment, this seems apparent. :)
    BTW, this has nothing to do with native methods, snip
    Well... just a minor point... but it would appear his code is dealing with some Win32 natives, either from JacobGen or J-Integra, since he is using a ComObject object (I could be way off base as I don't see any import statements.) Maybe follow-up questions in this thread could be relating to the API functionality of some of the classes he's using? :)
    RE: original poster
    If you do want to call this directly from main, take note of the name of the class in which this is defined. Then import the package and class into the class containing your main method (if your main isn't in the same package as the class containing add2hash). Then call OtherClass.add2hash(); from main.
    On another note, in order for us to understand your comment indicating a problem with the ComObject assignment, we'd need to know where you got that object -- maybe show us your import statements? :)

  • Help - Problem with Java Updating

    My friend looks like that u are using javax.swing.filechooser.FileFilter class as your file filter. Nothing wrong with it, but it works only with JFileChooser and not with the java.io.File.listFiles method. for that u will have to implement the java.io.FileFilter interface.
    He is the code example...
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class FileTest implements FileFilter {
         public static void main (String args[]) throws Exception {

  • Pleaseeeeeee Help - Problems with position of my web page

    Hi, first sorry on my english
    I have problem with position of my page. I had made my web page in Indesign CS5 and exported to swf file. My web page is working fine (www.igor-flytying.com) but the page is not in the middle of the web browser. How can I fix the problem????? I am a beginer in Indesign. I had try to make some changes in html file (salign) but still nothing.
    Please HELLLLLPPPPPP
    Regards
    Aljosa

    Petteri, SWFObject is much better because it loads the JavaScript so you don't see it inside the HTML page, but it still wraps the swf in a div which by default will be positioned in the upperleft of the browser window.
    This is the only way I've been able to center using SWFObject—note that it's the "flashcontent" div style that does the centering not the align embed parameter:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
