Help!Question for IPOD photo function

Everytime I want to add more pics to my ipod, the old ones are always autmatically deleted and coverd by new ones. I can't figure it out. Please.... help.
Thanks

If you "restore" however, just beware...
Quote from http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPodnano_2nd_Gen_FeaturesGuide.pdf :
If you choose to restore, all data is erased from iPod nano, including
songs, files, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other
data. All iPod nano settings are restored to their original state.
Chances are, though, that you've got all that on your PC, except maybe for any "on-the-go" playlists you may have created on the iPod.

  • What is the latest firmware version for iPod Photo?

I got a iPod Photo 60Gb and try to connect this to my Ice Link Gateway 500 in my car. It work fine on my other car using icelink but doesn't work with the new one. It say it does support iPod Photo. I wondering what version should it be on?.. I test other iPod Nano that work fine on it. I guessing it doesn't detect the gateway 500 as it automatic show up on iPod Nano screen. Where my iPod photo saying It is ok to disconnect.

  • Newb question for uploading photos to Ipod 5g

I have about 10 gb of photos that i have transferred to my ipod. I used iTunes to do this. The problem that I'm having is that whenever I want to add new photos, perhaps even just 5-10, it looks like it has to recopy all 10 gb to the iPod. Do I have to go through this process each and every time I want to add just couple of photos? Each sync takes about 20 minutes...there's gotta be an easier way.

In my experience, only newly added photos are copied to the iPod. There's an "iPod Photo Cache" folder stored in My Documents/Pictures (or similar on a Mac) that keeps a copy of photos on the iPod so that iTunes don't have to re-sample and re-copy pics each time you sync. If you delete that folder, then it'll re-sample and re-copy each pic again.

  • Questions about iPod photo and Apple Protection Plan

I have an iPod photo and an APP that expires May 2007. My
iPod's battery has permanently run out and I plan to use my APP and send it to Apple. Here are my questions:
    1. What is the best way to contact them about sending my iPod to them?
    2. Does the APP cover battery replacement?
    3. Has Apple discontinued the making of iPod photos?
    4. If so, will they still replace my battery or will they just send me a completely new iPod?

    1) You can arrange online service here.

    2) Yes.

    4) They will send a replacement iPod photo. They have stock just for this purpose.

  • Software for ipod photo?

I needed to reformat my photo iPod, after doing so I can no longer upload my photos from my Sony DSC-P72 to my photo iPod. The photo import function is available on the iPod but all I get is a blank window. The photos used to upload to the iPod by simply turning on the digital camera. Is there a software function I am missing? I remember getting a disk with the photo ipod but i dont have it anymore. Please advise...if you could send an answer to [email protected]

I do not believe that this is possable. Your iPod photo does not have the same hardware that the iPod video has to allow it to playback video. If a video iPod is important to you, you will need to by a 5G iPod.
    Hope this helped

  • Nike+ for ipod photo?

Would the Nike + iPod Sport kit work with my ipod photo? It looks to me like all you need is the usb port on the ipod.

? It looks to me like all you need is the usb port on the ipod.
There is no USB port on the iPod.
There is a dock connector which is where the receiver plugs into.
Also, the iPod OS needs to be able to use the receiver.
Only the Nano OS was updated for the Nike+.

  • Dock for ipod photo /40gig

Will my ipod photo fit in a dock for a 4th generation ipod? Specifically M9602G/A ?
    Thanks!

I stand to be corrected here, but the iPod photo is thicker in depth than the the 4th gen (esp the 60GB version), so I don't think it will. Even if it did, it would be a tight squeeze and you risk damaging the delicate connector pins if you're not extremely careful.

  • Waiting For Ipod Restore Function error occurred 9

I try to restore my ipod touch I see the screen with the music icon disc and usb cable.
It starts to restore but says waiting for ipod.
I can see the Apple logo and a continuous circle at the bottom rotating clockwise.
It just stays like that even after several hours.
I even tried loading the cable that comes with the ipod classic.
When I disconnect the usb cable it says:
The IPOD "ipod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9)

Try forcing your iPod into Recovery Mode prior to restoring:
Disconnect the iPod from your computer. Hold the Sleep/Wake button (on top) until you see a red slider that says "Slide to Power Off." Drag the slider across the screen to allow the device to power off. Then, press and hold the Home button on the front of the iPod WHILE you are connecting it to your computer... so, hold down Home, connect the USB cable, and then release Home when you see the Apple logo appear. iTunes should state that it has detected an iPod or iPhone in recovery mode, and prompt you to restore it.
See if that allows you to restore

    worth a try anyway

I don't want a new feauture.. I just want my iPod Photo to stop crashing... after upgrading the firmware it crashes continously... others in the forum are having the same problem. The only way to solve the problem is to downgrade the firmware. I figured that the petition is to solve that issue.

  • Resizing question for importing photos to ipod

    hi
i was wondering if the ipod resizes images when i import them.
i used to resize them manually (in photoshop) for 720x480 before i imported onto the ipod through itunes.
now i have several hundred i want to load and they are 2272 x 1704 pixels and several megs apiece. so instead of batch resizing them in photoshop, i was wondering if itunes/ipod will resize and optimize the file size or does itunes/ipod resize the image for "display only" and keep the original file size the same. i would like to have the images optimized for disk space so i can put more photos and music on it
    thanks

iTunes does optimise photos before they are transferred to the iPod (you can see a message in the window at the top of iTunes as it does it). It does not change the dimensions of the photos to fit the iPod screen, but it does reduce the resolution and file size. It also creates a very small version that you can see when there are multiple images on the iPod screen
If you select the option to include the originals in iTunes it will then store the original file, a version optimised for the iPod screen and the tiny little thumbnails as well.

  • First time ever - not a single reply to my question on iPod Photo sync

Well this is a not so exciting record - after 10 years the first time I get zero replies to a question...
Anyone have any comments on why I can't load more than 6000 photos onto my iPod Touch with OS 3.1.3 and with 5 gb of space free on my iPod? I'd like to get some additional photos loaded (and I could do this perfectly before upgrading my Gen1 (Dec 2007) iPod from OS 2.x to the current 3.1.3).
Problem only started after upgrade. I've done a reset; tried lots of ways to sync - but 6128 photos is max...
Any way to manually drag photos into the iPod? (Don't think so). Anyone else having a similar problem?
ANY COMMENTS appreciated here -- thanks very much. Really enjoy the Apple Discussions!!

    Jim,
Thanks VERY much! I believe my settings are the same as I had used when in OS 2.x-- although it seems I've tried everything--
Basically I'm using iTunes to sync my photos to my iPod Touch (not iPhoto)- but of course they are in iPhoto-- 138 EVENTS - I don't really use "Albums" much...
I can get some events to sync by adding them (tickbox, one at a time) and am up to about 6300 photos - but this is not how it worked before -- Previously I selected "Events past 12 months" then checked any additional (say a vacation trip in 2008) and Voilà - it was all there (as long as I had sufficient memory / space on the iPod Touch - and if not just some, not 4 gb of photos were left off.
Thanks for any additional comments - or from any others who have a zillion photos on their iPod Touch and using 3.1.3 especially. But any and all help appreciated!
    Best regards,

  • Questions for ipod nano 5g owners

+Please can anybody convince me to get a 5g 16 gigs nano? I'm a bit scared to go for this new buy and sell my old 3g nano.+
Would really appreciate if u guys can give me a feedback on these few questions. I don't intend to use the camera much at all and I don't want to play videos on it...still im a bit concerned about the battery.
    1) How is the battery quality? Experiencing any troubles?
I do own a 3g ipod nano and the battery rocks, I can listen to some music for about 2 hours per day and go like that for a week or so. 4g ipod nano was a real lemon if compared to the 3g...wondering if the 5g is as good as the 3g or not.
    2) What about the flashy colours that have been used? Are they looking good? I honeslty really liked the satinated aluminium and the soft colouring of the 4g better.
    3) The clicking wheel is that rather thick? I do remember that the 4g nano had an incredible light clicking wheel when i was touching it it felt like it could broke if really pressed hard. 3g has not that issue, it feels very sturdy and compact.
    4) I also noticed that in many pic sonline there is a sort of a gap between the clicking wheel of the 5g and the cover of the ipod itself. Is that something that all the owners of the 5g have or there are only some bad manifactured ones out there?

    1. I haven't been able to test the battery power extensively due to the fact that I've been playing around with transferring videos from my iPod to my PC, and I just installed a hookup in my car so I could listen to it in there, and this hookup also charges the battery... BUT I did play Sudoku on it the other day while I was waiting for a pizza to cook. The timer had me clocked at 14 minutes after it was all said and done (I thought I was pausing it but it kept counting the time, and the screen never went idle). After I finished, I looked at the battery power and it had barely gone down at all, maybe a slight smidgen at most. With my 4th Gen, I could play a game of Sudoku for about 8-9 minutes and that could drain a full battery anywhere from a quarter to halfway down, so in comparison, 5th gen battery life is MUCH better then 4th gen, though I suspect I may have had a faulty battery in the old one...
    2. Personally, I love the new colors and casing on the new nano's. Very shiny.
    3. I played around with my 3rd, 4th and 5th gen to see what you ment about the click wheel. The 3rd gen is thicker, but with the 4th and 5th gen, you are dealing with a slimmer nano, so Apple most likely slimmed down the click wheel to compensate for room. My 4th gen held up well, I don't see why the 5th gen would be much different.
    4. I think any gaps you may have seen from pics might have been a trick of light and shadow. All Nanos have extremely tiny spaces between the click wheel and the casing if you look close enough. For the 5th gen, I think it might be the aluminum finish, and that the click wheel is raised ever so slightly on each side, that makes the gap on that nano seem larger then it really is.
I hope this helps, but of course, this is only my version, I'm sure others will put there two cents in too.

  • Question for iPod Touch/Windows Vista Users

Has any other Vista users out there had any problems syncing?
As long as I don't sync large amounts of data, it works fine...but when I sync a lot of songs at once, or just 1 full length movie, I get playback problems. Some songs will skip and stutter, but that can usually be fixed by recopying the songs individually. Movies (even ones downloaded from iTunes) will not play all the way through. They will either crash and take me back to the videos menu, or they will reset the iPod Touch. Because movies are so large, simply resyncing them will not solve the problem.
I have tried resetting and restoring the iPod Touch, and reinstalling iTunes, and nothing has corrected this problem. I don't think it is a problem with the iPod Touch, because this doesn't happen when I sync using a friend's Windows XP computer.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help:)

I have the exact same problem - point for point, my iPod touch is doing exactly as you described. I have tried all sorts of things, but to no avail.
You added a new USB card to your machine, and that has solved the problem? May I ask if you still use your original 'onboard' USB for all of your other peripherals, leaving the new USB card for just your iPod? perhaps it was one of your other peripherals that was causing the problem. Just a thought, but I am certainly glad to hear that the problem is solvable. USB cards aren't very expensive, perhaps I should go invest in one to see if it solves the problem for me too.
    Thanks!
