HELP search field acting screwy

When I type something into the Search field in the HELP window in the FInder and I hit RETURN key, the whole HELP window just goes by by. What's up with this? More HELP corruption... again???? There is apparently a lot of corruption that goes on with Apple's HELP viewer. When oh when will HELP be fixed!

You may not realize it but the folks at the Genius Bar have to go through a few weeks of rigorous training ...
That is far from what it takes to qualify them to say if what they encounter helping users is due to a bug in the OS or from other causes. They are not trained to be engineers, they are trained to be customer support technicians. On the job, they are expected to solve customer problems expeditiously, not to spend hours studying code & log outputs on a case by case basis, looking for underlying common causes.
They are susceptible to the same form of myopia as others in similar positions or readers of these forums: because a disproportionally large number of the units they see have problems, they may begin to refer to the product as "buggy" in an ill-defined way, making little or no distinction between causes & effects, especially in programming errors vs. other causes. Some even go as far as using the term to refer to things that work as designed that they think should work differently.
This is not very helpful: it too often leads to users not looking for causes that they could eliminate themselves because they expect Apple to supply a "bug fix" for something that isn't an error in the programming it supplies.
You say you have fixed your problem. It seems to me that you have most likely treated a symptom without discovering or eliminating its cause. I do not believe it is typical for help viewer files to become corrupted -- mine & those of my friends & associates certainly have not -- so it seems unlikely that the cause is a genuine bug in the OS itself, which I would expect to affect hundreds of thousands if not millions of users. Sure, some won't use help or report any problems they have with it, but even considering that the numbers just don't add up.
It is true that this is based on assumptions I have made but I will stand by it, in large part because I'm aware that file corruption has many causes, some user or environmentally induced, some not. I don't completely rule out an obscure bug in the OS affecting select users, but it is not high on my list of probable suspects.
In any event, I hope your problem is solved & will not recur, whatever its cause.

I do not remember having to click on three options to get ACH content...

Adobe Help CS5: Text In Search Field Hard To Read

I'm using Local Help. In the Search field, letters are way too close and very hard to read. There seems to be no anti-aliasing either. Is it possible that some font be missing in either my Photoshop Installation or in my System (OX 10.6.3)?

If I may, the fact that people like you take the time to answer questions like this does more for Adobe's reputation than anything else. Thank you. I will be waiting for this fix. After all this new Help app is way better than what we had before, as it allows us to use either Local help (way faster and practical) or the web (more complete, when we're stuck). So this is a step forward, I just found strange that Adobe had this problem in that field. I imagine that this bug sneaked by unnoticed...
So thank you once again. If I had a suggestion, it would be to make the process of finding and downloading Local help a bit easier and more transparent.

Implementation of F4 value help for a search field which is an EEWB field

I am trying to create a F4 value help for a search field which is an eewb field.The f4 value help jus need to be a pop up containing the values of the field existing in the system.Since this is a search field the GET_V method cannot be used. I tried implementing it by creating a search help and then using it in the GET_DQUERY_VALUEHELPS method.But the problem when u use the search help is that all the values including the null values and duplicate entries will be populated when f4 is clicked.Is there any way to filter the values that get populated when f4 is clicked?If any other method can be used to implement the functionality please let me know..Thanks in advance....

the GET_V methods worked for me most of the time. Even in advanced searchs. Only time they do not is if there is a different aproach considered in the GET_DQUERY_VALUEHELPS.
As the GET_V_ you created obviously was called I suppose you found the correct place to Populate it to be used in the search.
I do not know what the problem with the NULL values and duplicate entries is you talked about, but it sounds to me the creation of your valuehelp class is flawed. Not the integration into the UI.
Maybe have a look at SAPs' standard implementations of Search Components. You should get a feeling for how search helps work. See. BT111S_OPPT, BP_HEAD_SEARCH

Hi,
I don't think you can directly link any search help with BEDNR without modification. If a search help was already linked, we could have gone for append search help. But in this case, nothing is there. So the options would be,
see whether you can insert any search help through enhancements in the screens..You have to do it in every screen then.
Other option is create a database view, & replace the dataelement with your own with a search help. You can refer this view after that.
or go for modification & change the dataelement.

Hi. I've made a screen with 3 fields , in the screen painter, just for the user insert dates, but my problem its that if i push f4 i have the dates help search but the icon next to the field, normally for the help search, doesnt shows up... What its missing or what im doing wrong??

There is basically no difference between a search help for standard vs. customer tables.
An important choise is the selection method for your search help:
Either you use your custom table, a view or a search help user-exit if you need to implement very specific requirements.
Assuming that you can use your DB table as selection method the further implementation of the search help is quite straightforward:
(1) Define the parameters you would like to have a selection criteria (SPos = SPos) and which should appear on the result list (= LPos).
(2) Define the parameters that can be used as input for the selection (flag IMP) and are returned by the search help (flag EXP)

i know that there are two options for defining the input help of a field.
1 Define the input help in ABAP dictionary. (recommended option)
2 Define the input help in the screen field. the disadvantage is that there is no automatic reuse.
1st option
Se11 --> create your own search help
    substeps:
        1) Enter short description
        2) selection method : this is the check table/view of the field GOITEM-WEMPF
        3) Search help parameter : parameters used in the search help.
        4) IMP: Import parameters
        5) EXP: Export parameters
        6) Lpos :hitting list [search result]position in the header [values 1,2,3,4,5]
        7)Spos: search position on the dialog search screen.
        8) data elements : they are from the selection method.
        9) Save and activate
        10) test this via the button "test"
       Note: the search help is not yet effective fo the field GOITEM-WEMPF
        11) Attach this search help for the table [ selection method mentioned above]
              a) Goto change mode of this table via SE11
              b) choose goto--> search help> for table
                        or Extras --> search help for table, in the next dialog box enter the name of search help
              C) The proposal created by the system for assigning the search help parameters to the key fields of the table is probably correct. check this and copy the definition.
              d) Active this table.
              e) Call the create entries function for table GOTIME again. the input help of field WEMPF should behave as desired.

HELP: Weird, Search Field, etc is "Square, Square, Square..."

Hi all.
Other than this very strange appearance oddity recently, everything is running fine in iTunes and iTunes Store:
1.When doing both searches in iTunes Search Field and inside iTS Search Field, *whatever I type, becomes "squares"...*
2. When redeeming with iTS cards, same, everything else text in the window is 'squares', even the Mac ID and password I typed.
*As long as there is a place for me to input text, all appears as "squares".*
*But as I quit and relaunch iTunes, it seems OK. This seems intermittent.*

I'm told that swiping down to the top of the Notes page should reveal a search field for searching Notes. Doesn't work for me. Does this still work in ios 7. If not, how do I search in the Notes app now? Thanks.

Yes, the search field does work in Notes.
You can also use search your entire iPhone (including Notes) for something - this can be very useful
- in any normal apps page put your finger on the screen around the middle of the screen and swipe downwards
- you can then enter something to search for in your entire iPhone
Try resetting your iPhone to get Notes search back,
Reset your iPhone by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPhone will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
Good luck and do report back.

Search field stays highlighted, can't use spacebar, etc... Help!

This is so very annoying.
A lot of the time I can't use the space bar to start or stop tracks because the highlight, (blue), stays locked on the search filed.
No matter where I click in iTunes, (tracks playlists, etc.), the highlight stays there...
If I do a search it stays there. If after a search I choose a track I want, and hit the spacebar, the search clears and is replaced by a space, (just as one might expect.) This has been happening, on and off for a while, and with different versions of Lion. (Pre 10.7.2, etc.)
I say, "on and off," because sometimes when I relaunch iTunes, the highlight will no longer be locked on the search filed, and I can use the spacebar for play/pause.
But then inexplicably it comes back to this same state of keeping the search field highlighted no matter what I do.
Btw, this state may also continue, even after a restart, though typically if I launch and quit enough times it will go away.
However, once highlighted, it will never go away while iTunes is open.
Any ideas?
