Help! Sent mail never received

I've been having a problem where messages that I sent were never received (different addresses, different times). First it happened every so often. Then more frequently. And now I can't send any messages from my mac acct - not from the desktop app or from the web version. My internet provider hasn't changed. Nothing has changed expect my ability to send messages.
Any suggestions/ideas?
Thanks.

There is something known as a realtime blackhole list. What this does effectively is blocks certain e-mail addresses based on frequent spamming from it. Once on it, it prevents your e-mail from being received by others who are on that list. Contact your friend's internet service provider to let them know not to block your address.
For more on what the realtime blackhole list is:

What's really insidious about this is that you may not have ever been the direct cause of this, but rather because you posted your e-mail address in the open on the net somewhere, a spammer picked it up and spoofed your address to make it look like you were sending spam, when it really wasn't you. And as a result, if that spammer was wrongly caught and identified as your address, you may end up on a do not receive e-mail from list.

  • How do I know if my sent mail was received and read?

Hi-is it possible to mark my outgoing mail in such a way that I can be notified when the recipient has opened/read it? I know you can do this in other programs-does Mail offer this option? Thanks for any insights into this.

  • Sent Mail does not show anything

I am using two AOL e-mail addresses for my mail. I can receive and send mail ok, but the Sent Mail never shows anything. In Mailbox Behaviors I have checked the box for Store Sent Messages on the server, and for Delete sent Messages, it says Never. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

My nephew has an iMac and he gave me the very easy answer to this question. Just go to Mail, Preferences, Accounts, Mailbox Behaviors, Sent, and uncheck the box that says "Store sent messages on the server".
If you have more than one e-mail address, you need to do this for each one.

  • IMessage, Text Message, Voicemail - are very often never received!

It's so unreliable, I'm using a BB as a backup!  Anybody else have this issue?  It's been over the last 2 months or so.....my iMessages don't work, switched that off completely, text messages are often never received (sent by someone else to me), and voicemails are not coming through for hours after they are left.
I've called ATT twice and both times they did the same thing - re-registered my phone with the network.  It hasn't helped.
    Any suggestions?

Yes, I turn my phone off frequently.  That doesn't do anything.  I have messages that have been sent and never received and no amount of restarting ever gets them to come.  I can see, for example, that my daughter sent me a text when I look at her iPhone...and i never get it.

  • Sent mail just disappearing

I have an intermittent problem that seemed to have started since the upgrade. When I send emails from my iPad, the sent mail never gets sent, doesn't go to outbox, just disappears off the device. This occurs in my .mac account and both my Exchange accounts. I've tried switching the accounts off, and quitting mail from running in the background, but it seems to keep happening.
It's not consistent - not every mail - but often.
    TIA

    Hi...
Since you have a .mac account and Exchange, try resetting sync services.
Follow the instructions at this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627?viewlocale=en_US
Where you see: *Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard*
Also. Your profile: Mac OS X (10.6.2)
If you are still running v10.6.2, you need to update your system software. Click your Apple menu (top left in your screen) then click Software Update...
As with any updates, repair permissions after the updates are installed.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

  • Sent E-mail Not Appearing in Sent Items - Recipient Never Received

Do they appear sent on the server?  If not, then they didn't get to that point.
Check her drafts folder as well.  She might have saved it but not sent it.

    Weird issue:
We have a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 user who sent 3 e-mail messages this morning from outlook 2013. The messages were never received by the intended recipients, they are not in the Sent Items folder, they are not in the Deleted Items folder, and when viewing Sent and Deleted Items in OWA, they don't appear there either.
This user was replying to messages from other users in our office, and the messages she was replying to says "You replied to this message at 9:04 AM". None of these replies contained attachments.
A casual search of Outlook reveals no traces of the sent messages. Messages that were sent before and after these messages have been received by the recipients.
    Do e-mails really just disappear?

  • And synchronise my previous music ! Itunes does not recognise the password of my first ID. When i try to redefine the password i never receive the e mail that ituned confirms as sent

I have lately changed my ID name. When i tried to download purchases and synchronise my ipad2, itunes asks to lalso login onto the old id. My problem is that i cannot redefine the password of my old id. Itunes requeste and confirms that an e mail will be sent. This e mail never arrives. Why this and what is the fix?

If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Messages in "Sent Mail" were never actually sent.

We recently switched to Snow Leopard exchange, and switched from Microsoft Entourage to Mac Mail. Ever since the switch, I have realized that I am not getting any notifications if an email is not able to be sent.
I am normally able to send emails fine, but now and then, usually on emails with large attachments, the email never makes it to the recipient. These messages do not sit in my Outbox - they act as if they have been properly sent, and appear in my Sent Mail along with all the properly sent messages. When I was using Entourage and other email clients, I used to get a Delivery Status Notification that would let me know if a message was not able to be sent. At a minimum, it would be stuck in my Outbox so I at least knew it didn't get sent.
Is there any way for me to find out when a message was not successfully sent? This is a huge deal at my place of business, as we rely on email communication. I need to know if a message did not go through!

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
In order to protect against an overzealous SPAM filter somewhere in the path of the messages, you should resend one of these to someone you know did not receive. Open the message in the Sent mailbox, choose Message/Send Again from the menubar, then click on Format/Make Plain Text.
If you composed and sent in Rich Text Format, there is always a chance the RTF (which is a subset of HTML) will be deemed by a filter to be SPAM or worse, and stopped or removed. When a filter is so involved, you will not get any notice of delivery failure.

  • Sent mail is not being received

Some of my emails use my me.com account are not being received by the recipient.
The emails show being SENT in my SENT box.

I have a similar but perhaps unrelated problem. Every now and then, I send an email on my gmail account using Mail. The sent mail appears in my sent box, but never arrives, and does not appear in my webmail sent box (where it usually does, using gmail). Most of the time it works, and it even works most of the time with people it has had a problem with, including mail I send to myself at work at my professional address. Usually arrives...but not always. I don't know how to trust my sent mail box without always going on the webmail to make sure it actually went out. I only have this problem when using the Mail application, but there are no other common characteristics (attachements, ISPs, etc) to say there could be a problem with one of those things. Anyone else have this problem?

  • Mail Program HELP: Shows up in 'Sent Mail' but it isn't sent!

    Hi,
I had no problem with my MAIL program until about an hour or so ago, when I sent an email to a business associate at another location and they didn't get it. My sent box lists the email as sent, but despite trying it again....and then to other people, including myself, the mail is not sent, though it does show up in the sent box.
After lots of tries and attempts to fix this, I can't and hope someone can help.
    Here' what I have:
    1. Working on an Intel iMac (recent update, but it worked after that). OS 10.4.9
    2. In MAIL app, Sent mail is listed, but no one gets it. (I'm not using .mac). Outgoing mail server is SMTP.
    3. If I send it via my actual server (bellsouth.net), the mail DOES get sent. So, the issue is the Mail Program on the iMac
    3. I connected my laptop, a G4 iBook, through the same router, and had NO problem sending mail via the MAIL application!!!!!! All the settings are EXACTLY the same...so, it's got to be something with the MAIL app on the iMac.
Any ideas???? Should I just reinstall the Mail program?? (and if so, where do I have that? on the original disk? online download?)
    Thanks much.

    Hello Sandie.
    > 3. If I send it via my actual server (bellsouth.net), the mail DOES get sent.
I assume this means sending via webmail access for the account using a browser and if so, this is not related.
Sending messages with an account via an email client such as the Mail.app uses SMTP and sending messages with an account via webmail access using a browser does not so this is not any proof that the problem lies with Mail.
If a message cannot be successfully sent by the SMTP server used to send messages with an account, the message will remain in the Outbox mailbox and not be sent.
A message moved to the account's Sent mailbox is an indication the message was successfully sent by the SMTP server used to send the message with the account but this is no guarantee the message will be accepted by the recipient's incoming mail server or that there won't be delays along the path of the message since messages do not take a straight line from the SMTP server used to the recipient's incoming mail server.
This only means the successfully sent messages by Mail have not been received by the recipient or recipients.
Reinstalling the Mail application rarely if ever resolves any problems experienced with the application and I'm certain that doing so here will be a complete waste of your time and effort.
Are you using BellSouth's SMTP server to send messages with the account using the Mail.app on your iMac?
If so, your focus needs to be directed there.

I've contacted customer service a couple of times but am having difficulty getting getting an answer from customer service as to what I should do after being given a promo code that didn't work. Any suggestions?
