HELP! Threads for Signing Applications Needed!

BACKGROUND: Several years ago I copied and modified an application titled MCL. It is a validation set of routines that is used by all my projects, so I created MCL.dll and include it the References of all projects that use it. Since I was new to Visual Basic/Studio2008
I was just happy to debug it and store it as the only project in MCL as a .dll. MCL is an Application type: ClassLibrary.
PROBLEM: I'm trying to update another project, CPS, that uses MCL.dll, and I can't because I get the message: "Error Unable to emit assembly: Referenced assembly 'MCL' does not have a strong name CPS". When I open MCL to try change
the signing, the Signing* tab is 'greyed out'. The only thing I can do is click the box: 'Sign the assembly'.
Recently I began signing projects by selecting and storing the Certificates in the root directory, and therein began most of my problems. Everything I do with Visual Studio is use it for SQL projects that will only run on my PC or any future PC
upgrades for me.
I've read a "ton" of 'signing' documentation, but am more confused than ever. Are there some recommended threads that give me an overview of the process and steps I need to take to fix my problem with signing MCL and signing other applications
successfully, so I can update and use them?

"Error Unable to emit assembly: Referenced assembly 'MCL' does not have a strong name CPS".
As far as I know,
Strong-named assemblies can only reference other strong-named assemblies. If the main project is strong-named, all the referenced assemblies should be
strong name. So this error means that the referenced assembly should be signed with strong name ‘CPS’.

SSIS 2008 generates Registration information for this application needs to be updated - VSTA.exe

I am getting the following error in SQL Server 2008 R2 (build 10.50.1734) x86 platform BI Development Studio (BIDS) 9.0.30729.4462 with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 in a Integration Services project.
I have a package with a Data Flow task that contains a Script Component. I edit it and attempt to edit script and I get the following error:
Registration information for this application needs to be updated. To update, log on as an administrator and run this command:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\VSTA.exe /HostID SSIS_ScriptComponent /setup
About a minute later, another box displays with the following message
Cannot show Visual Studio Tools for Applications editor.
Additional information:
The VSTA designer failed to load. “System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMExeption (0x80004005) Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component at VSTADTAProvider.Interop.VSTADTEProiderClass.GetDTE(String bysHostID, Uint32 dwTimeout).
I execute the command above running as an administrator (there are no output results). BIDS displays the same symptoms.
This happens on a Windows 7 Enterprise (I said Professional in an earlier but un-related post) workstation x86 platform. I get the error even if I create a new script component in a new data flow task in a new package. I also have VS 2010 Premium
Edition (build 10.0.30319.1 RTMRel) installed on this workstation (if that matters). I also uninstalled and re-installed SQL Server from my workstation. My colleague does
not experience this error, who should have a similarily configured PC. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Old thread, but I was having the exact same problem and fixed it, so maybe this will help someone else in the future.
My problem is that I was confusing the concept of running as an administrator in Windows 7. I was logged into my machine as an administrator, but I was not actually running the "VSTA /HostID SSIS_ScriptComponent /setup" command as an administrator.
When you don't run as an administrator, the command does nothing - no message, nothing.
I ran the Command Prompt as an Administrator while logged in as a user with Administrator privileges (right click on Command Prompt, select "Run As Administrator"). Then, from that command prompt, I ran "VSTA /HostID SSIS_ScriptComponent /setup", VSTA
did its magic, and then everything worked.
After all these years, that explicit "Run As Administrator" concept still trips me up sometimes.

How to implement the documentation help function for webdynpro application

We have implemented SAP Travelmanagement ESS services which uses ABAP Webdynpro. In each of the screen there is a "help" link on the top right corner. I would like to know how to use this function to link a help file that explains what needs to be done on each screen.
My requirement is to provide screen specific help information as a document for each of the screen in my webdynpro application.
Any suggestions, options, samples from the experts would be most appreciated.

Hi Vivek,
seems to be your WDA are built by FPM, thats how by default you will be getting help link in top corner.
when you click on help link it has to display the help related data.
for this sap calls the standard wdc: WDHC_COMPONENT and the view:WDHC_APPL_HELP in this view you will see the element as: TEXT to fill some text which is your help data.
there might be some way to fill this TEXT (text view) try this.
or else i will check and upate you soon.

Worker Thread and Helper Thread for Gauge updates

I know that in the Smart Ticket sample application there is an example with the implematation of "Each worker thread also has a helper thread that displays an animated gauge to indicate the progress of the worker thread".
But i can't find the sample on java.sun.com anymore..:-(. Do you have the source code of smart ticket or even an example of the helper thread implemetation. The worker thread i have already implementated.

Here's a simple outline of what I do. This has been drastically stipped down from my actual code as I use teh message for all kinds of things incluing requests on a queue to the worker and resposes back. So in the real code I also have a success flag, a command type, an argument object and a result object with get and set methods for all of them.
1) define an interface that the GUI code can implement and pass a reference to the worker which stores it in myTarget.

Help Text for Webdynpro Application

Hi Guys,
I've created a "Help" link. clicking on it displays a popup Help_Window. I want to display paragraph of Text in this Help_Window.
Is there any element available where i can enter a paragraph of text ?
( my goal is to create documentation for the application. just like we do documentation for se38 programs )

Solution :
1. Create MIME to import the help.PDF file which contains documentation to your application
2. In Help_View i have included the element INTERACTIVE_FORM.
3. In method WDDOINIT of HELP_VIEW i have included the following code to call the help.pdf file

    content type xstring,
    url type string value '/SAP/BC/WebDynpro/SAP/WDR_TEST_ADOBE_PDF_ONLY/test.pdf'.

Help me for MI Applications on WAS SP12

Could anyone guide me for MI development.
I have the following infrastructure.
i have installed wAS-SR12,EP-SP12, NWDS SP12.
i could able to get the SAP MI login screen from this url http://eportal:50000/mi. But unable to find the proper userid and password (i am giving the administrator and its password), System as localhost (ie., xportal), system number = 00. On log on, i am getting the username and password incorrect.
I am not sure, whether i have got MI got installed or not. From forums i found that the Mobile Infrastructure automatically when we install the WAS SP12.
Could anyone help me to show the steps if i am missing anything. Like what are the steps i need to have to start working on MI applications using webdynpros.. Please help me..

Hi Raj,
You need to have an ABAP+ JAVA Stack installation of the WAS 6.40 to use MI.
Initially you will need to setup the props file, add the appropriate authorization and then should be able to Synchronize. If you follow the MI Installation Guide for SP12 you will be fine.
FYI to get to the MI Webconsole you should access it via
http://eportal:50000/me rather than http://eportal:50000/mi

Help screen for MII application?

I am part of a team that is developing a pretty big and complicated system built with .irpt pages and MII applets, queries, displays and transactions.
Does MII offer a way to build a custom help screen, similar to Microsoft's HTML help? How have creators of other MII applications done their help screens? Are there any examples to look at?

MII does not offer a special tool for creating help pages. You can use any tool for building dynamic web pages that you would also use to build your application, even external tools like Adobe Flex to create nice screens.
I once created a PDF User Guide which I linked into the User Navigation, so users can read it online or print it easily if needed. You may create help buttons that open small help pop ups.
Perhaps other users can share there ideas?

How do I make a global helper servlet for all applications?

I am running about five different web applications in tomcat 5.0.24. They all need to do some spelling correction from time to time. I have a spelling correction API and a bunch of dictionaries, etc. so I can do it just fine. The problem is, I don't want each application to create all the dictionaries because then I end up with five spell checking programs and five dictionaries being accessed (basically I am exactly repeating myself five times and I start running out of memory). I would like to have a servlet that just sits waiting all the time and which any other servlet or JSP in any of my web applications can quickly dash of a spell check request to at any time.
How do I do this?
I think I need to write a servlet since I want to run it in tomcat and access it from my webapps, but it might not need to be a servlet since it is never actually contacted from a browser and will not ever write anything back to the client. I just need my other servlets and JSPs to access the spell checking functionality from time to time.

I'd say tomcat/common/lib is a good guess for where you'd put the class's jar file, but I don't use Tomcat so I can't say for sure. As for how to only have one dictionary, you need a singleton class, i.e. one that only permits one instance of the class to be created. Help needed in writing installers for swing application

I want to write an installer for one of our home grown profiler tool. I need to write the installer for different platforms such as windows,linux,solaris,HP-UX.
Does anybody have any idea of how to go ahead in writing installations. Share if there is any good links such as tutorials as well is thr any opensource tool (similar to installsheild) to write installers . As well following is the tentative algorithm for my install sheild
1. Create a home dir for the tool and put all the application files in tht.
2. Installing a 3rd party jar and make a home for it.
3. Option for user to select the features(i hv 2 features. user can either select both or select individual feature) to be installed.
4. Select the appserver home if any. On selection i hv to update the classpath in the startup batch file for the application(This is the toughest step i beleive bcoz each appserver have different folder structures and different startup batch files).

I need help with a VB Application

I need help with building an application and I am on a tight deadline. Below I have included the specifics for what I need the application to do as well as the code that I have completed so far. I am having trouble getting the data input into
