Help! used filevault now OS won't respond

I have a macbook pro with OS 10.6 and used filevault to encrypt my files. After rebooting and logging in, the descktop screen comes up with all the programs, but when I try to open a program I get the timeout (swirling rainbow circle) and cannot even access the apple icon to forcequit or restart. I restarted a second time and this time clicked on the apple icon to try to force chrome to quit (it keeps trying to open chrome since I had to close the computer by pressing down on the start button, so each time I start it up it tries to open the program that it was trying to open the first time). What can I do? Thanks!

Nevermind - problem solved; CHrome seems to have been the problem. On the third reboot I clicked on the apple BEFORE it had done booting everything up and was able to force chrome to quit. After that it's working fine.

Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?

I dropped my 5th gen ipod (for the 10th time) ... now my touchscreen wont respond. Anyone know a fix? (already tried the reset)

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Help my itouch's screen won't respond to home & sleep/wake button

Hi guys need your help, My itouch's(4th gen) screen won't respond to home & sleep/wake button. also the device is on cause when I try to do screen capture the shutters do come off.I've also resetted it a couple of time, tried to drain it and charge again do instruction given by some of the community people has said and still it did not it so please if you can help me

I think you tried everything here except the trip to the Genius Bar
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I just replaced my cracked screen with a new screen and now it won't respond

You did this yourself? if so, try looking at the videos or pictures on places like www.ifixit.com to see if you can figure it out.
Apple does not support self-repairs, and by doing your own repair, you have voided any possability of getting help from Apple now.
Even if someone here has experience with doing self-repairs on an iPod, you are going to have to give a lot more details about what you did, how you did it, what is happening now for them to have any hope of helping you.
BTW, if you paid someone to do the repairs, then take it back to them and get them to fix whatever they did wrong.

I downloaded an app called 'Cinema but instead of promised movies got trailers. Then I deleted it etc A dvised on help page and now it won't reinstall any ideas? Have contacted itunes x 2 but no response and unable to contact app developers.

No way to contact the developers of the app. So I followed the 'Support' advice and deleted etc and now it won't reinstall. there is no install button next to it!. It was only £6.99 so not a fortune but I'm wary of trying any others now. Where did I go wrong and how do I put it right?

Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

Hit 'use other' now iphoto won't recognise my camera

I got a new camera & when opening iPhoto & it asked me if I wanted to use iphoto with that camera or 'use other' & in my rush I hit 'use other' (Which was a mistake, yesterday I hit 'decide later' as I was still looking at the software that came with my camera to decide whether or not to use it)
Now, I can't import from the camera from the file menu, which I could do before I said 'use other'. I can only import by hitting the 'import' button, which then imports everything from the camera. I want to be able to only import selected files, which in the past (with my old camera) I did through the file menu.
How can I undo that choice & get my camera back? It doesn't show up on the desktop as a removable volume any more.

No Canon cameras and several Kodak cameras don't show on the desktop - a choice of their makers. An alternative is to use a USB Card Reader. Safer and saves wear and tear on your Camera too.
To selectively import, use Image Capture - in your Applications Folder - to select and move the files to the desktop, then import them from there.

My Ipod turned off, and now it won't respond to anything!

I was in the shower listening to it on my docking station, and it shut off.
now when i plug it into my computer or my charger it doesn't even flinch. NOTHING WORKS!!!

Was stuck on "Waiting For iPhone." Now it won't respond to the charge chord

My phone has been giving me a lot of trouble today and I've been looking all over for tips and tricks, but so far, nothing has helped.
It's an iPhone 4. One of my apps was being glitchy after a recent update, so I decided to delete it and reinstall it. When that didn't solve the issue, I decided to shut my phone off and turn it on again to see if it made a difference. Since then, it's been stuck in a loop. At first, it was stuck on the Apple logo. I managed to get it into recovery mode and connected it to iTunes, but only got as far as the "Waiting For iPhone" message.
After several attempts to get it to recover, it no longer responds to the charge chord. Pressing and holding the top and home buttons only gives me the Connect To iTunes image and when I reconnect it to my computer, ... nothing.
What should I do? Is my phone lost for good? If I take it to the Apple Store in another city, is there anything they can do, or am I out of luck because I'm out of warranty?

The message that you're getting about the USB port is Windows rather than the Shuffle, ignore this as it will all work anyway.
How were you formatting the iPod shuffle? Using Windows? If this is the case I'd assume that was probably a bad choice that Windows asked you to make.
In any case I would download the latest iPod updater from http://www.apple.com/uk/ipod/download/ - open this and then plug your iPod into your computer - update the firmware and then everything hopefully should be sorted

Itunes deleted all music on Ipod and now Itunes won't respond to it.

I plugged my ipod into itunes, for no apparent reason all my music was then deleted off my ipod, and now it wont respond when i plug it back in so i can't sync it, the screen goes grey with the apple sign.

You are not alone, exactly the same happened here to our ipod classic and we really need to know why this is and what to do. Is it an itunes update glitch? Is it the harddrive?

ITunes - first, library locked, now it won't respond

I got a brand new computer on Friday, and one of the first things I did was download iTunes. For the first few days, I kept receiving an error message saying, "my itunes library was locked." Now, when I click on the iTunes icon, nothing happens. An hourglass appears briefly, then disappears. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes with no luck. It has never opened successfully on my brand new, out of the box machine (HP EliteBook, Win XP Pro).

So I tried copying the files from the external hard drive to a USB drive. I could import the video files from the USB drive!
So then I tried importing the same files on to my PC's internal hard drive again. I could import the video files from the internal hard drive!
So then I tried to import the very same files that failed to load on the very same PC previously. I could now import them!
I still can't import from the external hard drive directly, though.
I really don't think I like the process of importing things into iTunes very much... any suggestions on what's causing any of this behaviour would be very interesting.

My iPhone 5c was dropped and now it won't respond/responds by itself

Hi, so I dropped my phone(while it was in a case) about three feet to a hardwood floor last night. There's no crack in the screen and no physical damage done, but the phone rarely responds to my touch anymore and when I do have it unlocked it clicks on things by itself.
Like, it will open apps by itself and type messages on it's own.
Does anyone know what part of my phone is malfunctioning? I don't have applecare and I was hoping to just fix the part on my own.

Have you tried resetting your device: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the "Slide to Unlock" screen redisplays, see if your issue is resolved.

I touch won't respond to anything!! help!!

I recently updated my Itouch with iOS 5.1.1 update. For about an hour after I did this update,my itouch was frozen on a screen with the apple and a loading bar that wasnt moving. Then, my itouch "restarted" by itself and froze on a white screen. I tried restarting it myself, and it restarted, but again froze on the white screen. I have done this at least 12 times. Now it won't respond to anything, even when i hook it up to my computer, the computer is not recognizing the connection. My itouch was working absolutely wonderful before the update, i have not dropped it, or gotten it wet, and it is only a few months old, (January 2012). I haven"t had any issues with it before now. If anyone else has had a similar problem or has any suggestions, i'm willing to try anything. thank you!!

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99. Likely not worth it for a your iPod. They do not fix yours.
