Help with a repeating pattern.

Hey all,
In Illustrator CS4. I want to create a repeating pattern, using a swatch. I've done this before succesfully but not sure why this one isn't working as planned.
The small image at the bottom (just the area inside the artboard) is the spacing I want between the characters, but the pattern at the top is what I get. Any advice would be awesome.

Draw a no-fill, no-stroke rectangle the size you want the tile and move it behind all the other pattern artwork, then drag the art to the Swatch panel. The no-fill, no-stroke rectangle will determine the bounding area of the pattern tiles.

Can anyone help me with a repeating pattern that is staggered?

Can anyone help me with a repeating pattern that is staggered and must be aligned perfectly while staggered. Is there a way to do this? I keep staggering it by eyeball and need it to be accurate and each row is offset.
My art board is 19.25x11.50 I have a repeating logo and name underneath (hard to see) I am setting this up for a print design to go onto tissue paper for insert into a shoe box. Any help is greatly appreciated?

Option drag your object horizontally to make a copy or use Move and copy if you need a precise increment. The hit Cmd+D a few times to make duplicates with the same spacing.
Hit Enter again and make a note of the increment on a piece of paper. Cancel.
Select everything and use the same increment, now in a vertical direction, to make 2 further copies.
Take the middle row and move it horizontally by half of the increment. This means that the circles in the middle row are positioned horizontally half way between those in the other two rows.
Draw your defining rectangle so that its corners are on the centres of those 4 circles. (This gives you its right size but you may possibly need to move it a bit.) Send it to the back of your stack.
Drag those 8 circles and the rectangle to your Swatches panel.
(If you’re on Windows read Ctrl instead of Cmd and Alt instead of Option.)

Problems with getting repeating patterns to display properly

Using Oracle's Map Definition Tool I am trying to import repeating patterns through the "import image" functionality, found under "map metadata --> styles --> area", but I am having problems getting them to work properly (i.e. they don't repeat as they should). Part of the problem is the poor quality of repeating patterns images that where send my way.
Therefore I have 2 questions I hoped someone here could answer me:
1) Is there an easily accessible collection of decent+ quality repeating patterns somewhere on the web where I could look for patterns to use?
2) What is the image resolution used by the Oracle Map Definition Tool, or in other words, what is the minimum resolution I need to make sure the pictures are to make them downscale properly to a single pattern image through the "import image" functionality?

For starters, you could try any of the pattern images/icons available in your popular word/graphics applications such as Word, Powerpoint, or Adobe. For instance in PowerPoint you can find a set of Patterns under Format Auto Shape > Fill > Fill Effects > Pattern. You can generate your own pattern images that closely follow the design of these from PowerPoint.
When you import an image, as long as you make sure the preferred width/height of the image is set to identical with the real width/height of the image itself, MapViewer will not attempt any scaling during rendering, thus preserving the native resolution of your pattern image.

PHP help with nested repeat region

Hopefully someone can help me out with this one.
I basically have some SQL returning results of a search page,
where you can search on various keywords by checking boxes, and it
returns Employers that match those keywords :

The results are drawing fields from the Employers table and
EmployerContacts table, hopefully to look like :

etc
However, I can only seem to get it to repeat the Employers,
and show just the first Contact for each, like this :

Employer2
Employer2.Contact 1
etc
So I guess I'm looking for help with looping through the
Contacts for each Employer.

The DW Repeat Region cannot be nested because both loops use
the same
variable names (e.g. $RepeatSelectionCounter_1).
You will have to manually edit the code, and DW may not
recognize it
after you do, but you should be able to get it working fairly
easily. I
think that you just need to change the variable names in the
inner loop
so that they do not conflict with the similar names in the
outer loop
(e.g. rename $RepeatSelectionCounter_1 to
$RepeatSelectionCounter_2).
Does that make sense?

How can I create a symbol filled with a repeating pattern?

Hey there. Iam trying to make a symbol and it should have a repeating pattern (jpg, png, gif) in the back. It should be 100% widht and height and I will move it on the main stage.
Any ideas for that?
I just have this code to put it in the background for the whole page. This works pretty good but it is not the thing I am looking for actually.

in the symbol creation complete event.

Help With Spry Repeat Regions

Hello everyone,
I've recently started using Spry for a project I've been
asked to work on and I've run in to a few issues since my spec
changed on me today. So any help or advice anyone has is very much
welcome as I'm very much out my comfort zone at the moment.
Original Spec
The idea originally was to have a drop down of roles which
was created from the role tag within a xml file which I was able to
do as you can see below in the attached code. Once the user had
picked a role it would then
ds2.setCurrentRowNumber(this.selectedIndex) and this would trigger
the spry detail region I have to populate the fields I setup to get
out of the xml the role, process and info.
At the time I was told a role would only appear once in the
file but this is now not the case :(
My problem / New Spec
Unfortunately with the xml now having a role more then once
I've been asked to include a dynamic region which will display the
process and info fields from other records which have this role
name. Which is the bit I'm having problems with. I've been playing
with creating a spry:repeat for each field and then using
Spry:if="'{Role}'.search(^/myVar/) != -1; but I've had no luck
getting a value into a variable and I'm lack of experience is
running out of ideas.
Hope I've made sense this is my first time using spry and
JavaScript, so any help is greatly welcome.

URGENTLY NEED HELP WITH NESTED REPEAT REGION

Im using dreamweaver to deevelop a page that displays questions in ann assessment to the user. First of all the page shows the assessment name to the user and then it gets some information about the questions in the assessment from the table called Item. It gets the Question_ID and then there is a repeat region which uses the Question_ID to display the questions in the assessment. There is a nested repeat region inside this which displays the possible answers the user can respond to the question with It gets this information from a table called outcome. The page should display each question and then all the possible answers but i am having problems and im not sure wether i am doing this in the correct way. What is wrong with my code? PLEASE HELP! can someone tell me what is going wrong and how i can fix this problem thamks.

In the following code, you have used "outcomeRecordset_data ", but its not declared. You need to declare the variable first before you can use it.

Need help with looping/repeat webpage in Apple Script

I would like to repeat an action in AppleScript by opening up a URL page in Safari, closing it, and then re-opening it again.

This is what I have so far..but it is not working. It only opens it up ONCE. What I want is for the web page to repeatedly be generating every 1 or 2 seconds, after it closes out the previous one.

Help with the replace(pattern, replace)

a webService, went i get the XML, but this file print < by
< and > by >.

Help with a repeating image

Thanks for the help. I have a few new questions -
At

the text sits too far to the right, I want to snug it up closer to
the menu/left side. It seems the P7PM is causing the width issue,
unsure. The images are only 169pixels wide, so I don't understand
why it's displaying wider.
I also want the light green gradient at bottom of menu art to
continue all the way down the left side of page, so it fills along
the left margin.

223px wide.
Change it to 170px.

You'll have to use a repeating background image in the first
cell of the
main table. The images color should be set to that of the
last color in
your gradient
You have a background image already in that cell but there is
nothing
uploaded at the image url link...

Need a little help with this factory pattern thing..

Evening all,
I have an assignment to do over easter, before i start i will say i dont want any code or anything so this isnt 'cheating' or whatever..
This was the brief:
A vending machine dispenses tea and coffee, to which may be added milk, and 0, 1 or 2 doses of sugar. When the machine is loaded it initially contains 100 doses of tea, 100 doses of coffee 50 doses of milk and 70 doses of sugar. After it has been in use for a while it may run out one or more items. For example, it may run out of sugar, in which case it would continue to vend tea, coffee, tea with milk, and coffee with milk. Periodically, an attendant recharges the machine to full capacity with doses of coffee, tea, milk and sugar. A user selects the required beverage, selects the required amount of sugar, and selects milk if required. The machine responds with a message telling the user the cost of the drink (coffee is 30P, tea 20P, milk 10P, and sugar 5P per dose). The user inserts coins (the machine accepts 10P and 5P coins), and when the required sum or more has been inserted, the machine dispenses the beverage, and possibly some change.
You are to write a program that simulates the above vending machine. Your solution must use the class factory pattern, and make use of the code templates provided. The user interface should be constructed with a Swing JFrame object.

My question relates to this method in the BeverageFactory class:

I can obtain the current amount of coins inserted from the textbox in the CoinMechanism class. The only thing i could think of, would be for this to enable the 'Vend' button, but it doesnt have access anyway..
Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated, I have tried to contact the lecturer but he isnt around over easter i guess..

I'm not going to read all that, and I don't do GUIs, so this is just a guess, but it looks like the CoinMechanism class is intended to be just a dumb processor to accept coins and determine what each coin's value is, but no to keep a running total.
That in itself is an arguably acceptable design--one class, one job and all that. But I don't know that it makes sense to have the BeverageFactory keep the running total.
Overall, I gotta say, I'm not impressed with your instructor's framework. Maybe it's just because I didn't look at it closely enough, or maybe it's more of a naming problem than a design problem, but it seems to me he's mixing up GUI code with business logic.

Repeating patterns that are staggered and how to set the alignment perfectly.

Can anyone help me with a repeating pattern that is staggered and must be aligned perfectly while staggered. Is there a way to do this?
My art board is 19.25x11.50 I have a repeating logo and name underneath (hard to see) I am setting this up for a print design to go onto tissue paper for insert into a shoe box. Any help is greatly appreciated?

For the swatch, I positioned five logos exactly the way I wanted.
I drew horizontal and vertical straight lines and centered them over the outer four logos (the eventual outside edges of the final swatch).
I then used Object > Path > Divide Objects Below for each of the lines in turn to cut the outer logos (the lines must be in exactly the same place for each logo).
After ungrouping the cut logos (may or may not be necessary), I deleted the parts I didn't need and dragged the result (the swatch you see) to the Swatch Pallet.

Can I switch calendars (Ex. "night shift" to "day shift" cal) with a repeating event, but ONLY for that one event?? It asks "for all events or only this event" if i change the time. But it changes ALL events when i try and switch calendars. Any help??

I have 2 calendars set up for my work schedule, a "night shift" and "day shift" calendar. I've set up repeating events fro Fri/Sat/Sun 3-11pm "night shifts" and Mon/Tues 7am-3pm "day shifts". But lets say for example that I swap shifts and instead of working nights on Saturday like I normally would, I am now working days. I want to change that in my calendar. When I go to change the event, if i change the TIME it asks if i want to change all event or ONLY this event. no problem....just this single event. but when i go to change the event from the "night shift" calendar to the "day shift" calendar, it changes ALL the repeating events, and not just that one single event. can anyone help with this??? am i doing something wrong? is there a way to do this or not with the new iCal program??? i used to do this and never had any problems. Thank you!

You need to follow iPhoto terms since we only know what you tell us
what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)

Seamless repeating pattern - using embedded images with clipping masks

Hi forum,
We struggle a bit creating a seemless repeating pattern that includes embedded images with clipping masks applied.
Our pattern is a 550x550mm black square with various embedded inserted on top. All of these images have Clipping Masks applied to hide unwanted areas.
These images are placed so they create a seamless repeating pattern and this includes areas that overlap the square.
Once we create a swatch from this pattern the repeatable area becomes too big as it includes the unwanted areas hidden by the clipping masks.
Because the repeatable area is now too big it's actually not repeatable.
We tried various things in order to solve this issue. Pathfinder/crop to delete the unwanted areas in the images etc.
None of them worked good enough.
We though of just livetracing the images, but due to the complexity this is not an option.
Do we really have to do our "cutting" in Photoshop or do you know any fancy tricks for issues like this?

You may try the destructive deed, with the Clipping Mask selected:
1) In the Transparency palette/panel dropdown list select anything but Normal (Multiply is fine),
2) Object>Flatten Transparency, just keep the defaults including 100% Vector,
3) Shudder.
This should reduce the size to the Bounding Box of the Clipping Path.

Help with XMLSEQUENCE and repeating elements

I need help with the following XML extraction (note this is on Oracle9i). I have the following XML structure. There are multiple <Reading> elements
