Help with an HTML file in Flash.

Hi there.
I'm attempting to import an html file into my flash document
into a textfield on a movie clip. The text works fine, as does the
css I have attached, but the <a> tag will not work. I've
attached my Actionscript and HTML files in the hopes that someone
will be able to give me a hand! Thanks in advance.

OK, your path has to be fully qualified, tutorials.html
doesn't work but
http://mysite/tutorials.html
should.
When you think about it the swf doesn't know where it is, so
calling tutorials.html has no starting reference.
Placing a fully qualified path enables your link to find its
target, irrespective of where the swf is.
Although this is not true when called across domains, thats a
whole new game.

HTML Files in Flash

I have created a document in HTML as I need my Flash
Presentation to link to other sites with hyperlinks. I have never
actually used HTML with Flash before so I am uncertain on what I
should do,
do I have to link the HTML document to my text field in some
way
do I just put the code into the text field
do i have to call it with some sort of action script????
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean you want to implement JS onHoverOver? How
are you using that in Flash? And what do you mean by importing an
HTML file? Flash can understand some HTML but you can't import an
entire file (not in AS2 anyway).

You mean an image such as a scanned document?
If that is the case, the file doesn't contain any text for Reader Out Loud to read. In order to fix that, you would need an application such as Adobe Acrobat that does Optical Character Recognition to convert the images to actual text.
You can also try to export the file as a Word document or something else using ExportPDF which I believe offers OCR and is cheaper than Acrobat.

Problems in Frame 1 with External HTML files

I am having an issue with loading two external html files within
my website.
I have a case study page with a
dynamic textbox and a scrollbar attached to it.
I have another page "news" that
contains another dynamic textbox with a scrollbar attached to
it.
I created two .txt files with my
information for both pages.
Working in Flash CS3 with
Actionscript 2.0 at 30fps.
My problem is this:
I can go to my news page and the .txt file will be visible,
but once I go to the other case study page and reveal that .txt
file, I go back to the news page and the .txt file is no longer
visible. Only a nonworking scrollbar is displayed with no text and
nothing else.
I believe I need to do something different in Frame 1's
Actioncode. I just don't know how to get the other .txt file to
work along with the other. I will be adding more .txt files in
dynamic textboxes later and I really need to resolve this issue so
I am able to add them with no problems. Appreciate anyone's help
immediately if you can.

well I made a separate layer and placed the symbol with the
text box and scrollbar attached. That was the only thing on the
layer as you mentioned to separate it. I don't see how I could
separate the scrollbar from it as it is needed. So I made some
keframes, selected the textbox inside the symbol and added the code
you told me to add:
caseStudyMC._visible=false; In the other frames where I
needed it visible I added the code:
caseStudyMC._visible=true;
When I tested the movie. I didn't see the text but I saw the
scroll bar still and the text still failled to appear after viewing
the MC Case study text.
Is the code supposed to go in Frame1? What do I do with the
scroll bar image? I tried to Make it all disappear using the alpha
at 0, but it still didn't work.

into the same HTML file. But I would like to load only one of them
at the time and would like to have a Button on each SWF Flash file
which causes the other SWF to be loaded.
hmmm.. I am not sure if I managed to make sense. :o) Let me
try it one more time. :o) I would like to swap one SWF file for
another SWF file by clicking on the buttons which are placed on the
SWF files! :o)
I was wondering if that is possible or I should think of
another way to get around this problem of mine.

Need Your Help with Swapping SWF files

Hello,
I am need to swap Two SWF files. I am acheving this by make
one swf as a holder. call it main.fla main.swf file. Embed that
file into my html document. In that file I placed one button with
the
following action :
on (release) {
loadMovieNum("second.swf", 1);
in that file have a button with action to load the 3rd file :
on (release) {
loadMovieNum("3rd.swf", 1);
by loading them in same level (1) they will replace each
other. My problem is that my SWF files obtain some information
using combination of PHP and XML file. I have noticed when I place
the SWF with it’s required PHP and XML in separate folders
the SWF file is uploaded (swapped) but since the PHP files are NOT
run by the server my dynamically generated XML files are empty and
therefore the uploaded SWF file has not information expect the SWF
file. Is there any way to get round this problem?

Help needed:Printing HTML file using javax.print

Ram,
I have had printing problems too a year and a half ago. I used all printing apis of java and I still find that it is something java lacks. Now basically you can try autosense. To check whether your printer is capable of printing the docflavor use this PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(flavor, aset); . If it lists the printer then he can print the document otherwise he can't. I guess that is why you get the error.

Adobe Bridge issue with index.html files

Hi, I have a perplexing problem.... Three weeks ago, I created a web photo gallery in Bridge. I transferred it to my website via FTP and it worked like a charm. Three days later I created another web gallery transferred it to my website using my ftp and the address of what I uploaded takes me to a blank page. what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.

a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.

[Need help with a swf file]

Hello,
I need help with a flash demo that I am creating. I have a
main swf file that contains links to other sub swfs that I have
created. What I really want this to do is... when I click on one of
the link on the browser, the other swf have to load in the window.
I tried to code it with .loadMovie,.... but for some weird reason,
it is not showing up.
Can anyone help me on this?

you might have a security violation and you do have a
load-target issue. remove that "_parent": there's no 2nd parameter
in the loadMovie() method.
if you want to replace the main swf with that url, loading
into _root is fine. otherwise, you want to use a different
target.

Other problems with loading Captivate files into Flash AS3 project

I have a Captivate file done with Captivate 3, published to
Flash player 9 that is being loaded into Flash AS3. The captivate
is a simple recording of some mouse clicks in a browser. I am
displaying the playbar along the bottom, and its buttons all work
fine except for the progress bar, where you can drag the knob and
scrub back & forth in your presentation.
This progress bar is not working as it should. I see the
mouse cursor change to a hand, but when I click I cannot drag the
knob to control the progress bar. The other buttons in the playbar
do work (replay, pause, play, back, forward).
This is a unique problem in that it is only happening when
viewed in IE (7) when loaded into my Flash AS3 project. When viewed
in Firefox in my project, or as a standalone SWF, or as a SWF
simply embedded onto a plain HTML page, it works just fine.
Does anybody have any insight?
Another thing I notice with loading Captivate files with AS3
is the the amount of output messages it displays. Rather annoying
(unless this is a "feature" I've yet to be aware of - heh)

Need help with .cr2 RAW-files

Hi,
I've installed Aperture 2.1.2, and the newest RAW compability update (2.5).
However, when I try to work with RAW files from my Canon EOS 1000D camera (nothing big, I know), all I see is "Unsupported image format".
I really need help with this quick. The RAW files are in .cr2 format.

as a last resort ...
this is the update that added support for 1000d ... however the 3 releases post this should have it too ...

but you can roll back your raw compatibility and see if that works ... then progressively go forward to current and see if/where the problem lies ...

Please help with a tutorial on Abode Flash

Have been using abode photoshop for years. Downloaded flash each time it tells me to upgrade, but never used it. would dearly love to use it in my new website.
Can someone tell me how to access it on my computer. I dont have an icon of flash that specifically says Flash, unlike photoshop and reader. Although it see that is installed on the computer, how to access it.
Obviously I am not not savy, but would love help.

Need help with simple php files

I have simple php files that are setup with includes for a header, sidebar and footer... all other data is within the file. There is no dynamic info on the pages, yet I cannot get the files to load up in InContext. Is there a way to make this work?
I can get an html file to work flawless, but something seems to stop the php file from working.

What I mean is, whenever I try to edit any file with a php extension, I get a 404 error... even a simple file with no includes. I created a php file with one line of text within an editable region and I still could not edit it with InContext.
