Help with networked app

hi guys, i want to design an application that can connect to a mysql database on a server(with domain example: http://www.somename.com) on the internet and read data to and from it. Also i want to be able to upload files(web pages) and download files from the same server.
The reason is that i designed this site for a friend and i want to design this desktop app for him to be able to do some management.
Please i only need guidelines, i can try to translate that to actual java code.

hi guys, i want to design an application that can connect to a mysql database and read data to and from it. The "easiest" way to do this would be to write a simple PERL/PHP application you throw onto your server. You then just post form data to the PERL/PHP script, and it can do whatever you want based on that input. Then in your Java application, you just send an HTTP request loaded with that form data. That allows you to send data to be written, and get data back data that was read. This is also good because you can build in at least some security if you require a password with the form data for the PERL/PHP script to accept the request.
Also i want to be able to upload files(web pages) and download files from the same server.For uploading and downloading files, build a simple FTP client into your program.
You should be able to find lots of good examples of those things on the net.
Special note : I say a PERL/PHP application would be the "easiest" way because most 5-dollar a month web hosts don't support servlets, and almost all support perl and php... And for my money, PERL/PHP is the easiest to use, easiest to learn, and easiest to maintain way to interface with SQL / parse form data...

Need help with network user accounts on Mac server App on Yosemite, any tips?

I've been trying to set up a small network with the Server app on Yosemite. I don't want to do anything crazy with the server, I'd just like to know how I can set up network user accounts so that they can login from other Mac computers on the same network. I already have Open directory set up, the Macs that will be used on the network with the server have already been joined to the server under login options. I have created the network user account, I have also joined the user account to a group that I created. When I try to login to the network account from one of the Macs, it doesn't work. I'm pretty rookie with Mac server, can anyway give me any pointers of what I should be doing? Or if I am doing something wrong. Thanks guys.

The most important step, once you've got Open Directory and DNS set up, with Local Network Users set up in Server.app, is to make sure that all client Macs are using the server's IP address as the primary DNS server in System Preferences > Network, and that they have joined the Network server in System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Options.
Having said all that, I have just spent hours setting this all up only to find out that Mail doesn't currently work with Network Homes in 10.10.3 / Server.app 4.1.
I will be hoping that Apple recognise the bug, and put out a fix soon.

Help with wordpress app

Hi just finding my feet with my new iPad and have a question regarding wordpress. When I write a blog in pages and cut and paste it into wordpress and email it to my website ect I lose all paragraphs, so it publishes in one block of text. A pain for anybody to read. Any help with solving this would be appreciated. Cheers

I have my blog on my company website and several social networking blogs and have been told by my web hosting company to email my blog to ping which will publish it out automatically to everything. I'm a locksmith by trade and computers aren't the tool I use the most, so basic knowledge of computers yes but still very much learning.

Any app store or market place for apps usually do not have access to your billing account even though it is loaded onto your phone it is supported by a different vendor other than Verizon which doesn't have access to charge your bill. This is how it is for the Android market when purchasing an app.

Help with blackberry app world log ins

could someone help me with the blackberry log ins.
I had registered all my details with the app world, and i was able to download apps for a while but now i am not able to access apps to download because my log ins are now invalid i have been told, i have tried to reset my password and it told me to enter my security question answer and i have tried to enter it but it will not refresh to let me answer the question. Need help with networking external hard drive

Hi,
I am working on a corporate network and I have a Western Digital My Book Studio Edition external hard drive attached to a Mac OSX 10.4. i have other Macs connecting through the network to this Mac and accessing the external hard drive and it works just fine for that.
What I need help with is the fact that I also have several PCs on the same network (all XP), that need to connect to the hard drive and access the files. I've been able to connect to the Mac using the XP by accessing the IP address. I also set the Mac up with password credentials so that I had to log in to the Mac to access the files. But when I try to access the Mac, it only shows the main computer drive as the only available share and no external drive.
Does anyone know how to access a Western Digital external drive on a Mac from a PC through a network?

For an external hard disk drive or other (different) system shared
storage devices to work, they probably should be formatted in a
format seen by both operating systems.
If the WD unit is not seen by Windows computers on your network,
the WD may have been formatted in HFS+ for the Macintosh. That
is OK unless you need a Windows computer to access the same.
The Macintosh can see and use a standard Windows disc format;
so the external drive may need to be reformatted away from HFS+
if that is really what is going on (and archive any data on the suspect
drive elsewhere, since it will be lost to reformatting overwrites)
and then both Mac OS X and Windows should see the files on there.
And Macs set up to run Windows may also see the non-Mac format;
without having to re-boot via BootCamp, if that option is in use.
As to the other question(s) I really have no idea at this point in time.
And since that may be the rub, hopefully someone will follow up here.

Newbie needs help with Flex app

Hi there. I am very new to Flex and also fairly new to
programming although I do have a little experience.
I am trying to create an app which stores code snippets or
common text I tend to use every day in my documents and emails.
So basically I need help on a design level. I can refer to
the developer's manual for exact instructions for commands, but I
need to know what to code first.
The app will consist of:
-a tree directory structure where I can create groups.
-There will be a basic text editor where I input all my data,
basic text formatting options (font, bullets etc) would be a bonus.
-A search function
-Finally it will ideally allow multiple client apps write to
a central database file over a network
Can anyone suggest how I should approach such a project?
Or are there any tutorials / source files which demonstrate
each bullet point?

I'm new too. But I think I might know the right components.
If you google any of these + flex 3 you should get some
decent documentation
tree - advanced dataGrid component
basic text editor - rich text editor component
search function - well, you're gonna need to read up on
arrays, and arraycollection. Once you get that stuff working, you
can write up a function to search for a string in an array.
network functionality - HTTPService, you can dump the
datagrid into a database, and have it load the database when you
open up the application.
Give these things a shot, tutorials / sources will come with
the google searches.

Urgent Help with network access to FileOutputStream

URGENT HELP NEEDED GUYS...I am stuck on this past 2 days. I tried several alternatives but to vain.
I am trying to access a Folder on a user's computer which is lying in a different Domain.
For accessing this folder, I have the following information with me.
Domain name, PC name, folder name, windows username, windows password.
Note: This username and password will give me rights to read + write to that folder.
How to use these information to open a fileoutputstream ? Does the java.io package allow programs to pass a username, password , domainname, pcname and then the folder and filename to create/read/write files..
Pls. suggest code examples. Sometime back I posted this query but didnt get an answer to my satisfaction. I have tried at my end but unsuccessful yet. Help would be appreciated.

Regarding the 1st.
I am supposed to write a remote installation utility actually. There are around 200 PC(s) in a network on which I need to copy these java class files. My problem statement is such that at runtime I only have username, passwords, domain access. I am not supposed to map any drives. Its supposed to be done dynamically. No manual intervention required. :(
How do I do the network connection in a batch mode ? Let me know that?
If 2nd option can be done, probably I can think of action-3 at the moment I am quite blurr :(

I got an iPad 2 today and I entered all my details in and also my bank details in, but then it's saying to me to enter 'security code' in? And I don't know what it is. I have realised that a lot of people are having this problem and it obviously needs to be sorted? Please help me?????

Thanks for your responses but when I go on app store and then on featured, I press 'free app' and then it says 'install app' and then I click on 'use existing apple id' - so then I enter my username and password, then all my bank details ans everything else, there all correct but then it comes up with... 'your payment method was declined, please enter another payment method' - all I want is FREE apps, no paid ones? I need help with an app game purchase

I recently added 20$ to my account with 2 10$ Itunes cards. I play the app called clash of clans, in the game you can buy things with itunes, I tried to make a purchase for 19.99 when there is just about 21 $ in my itunes and it's telling me I have insufficient funds. This is odd becusee a couple days ago I did the same thing with the itunes card but now I'm getting this error. I checked my itunes again and I have the money, please help!

Need help with network

hi, i am trying to leave ubuntu, so i installed Arch Linux. it seems everything went allright on the CD installation, but i am having trouble with the network. i have a dell XPS M1330 with the intel 4965 card, and i believe that the card is recognized by the system.
i can scan for networks, and i can even connect to my network, and when i run "iwconfig" i can see all my network details, including the password, and th signal strenth, noise, etc.
so, everything indicates that i am succesfully connected to my network. but everytime i try a ping it fails misserably, with a host unknown. i've tried google, yahoo, msn... but it doesnt matter. they always fail.
can anybody help me?
btw, i've checked that hostname is the same on rc.conf and hosts

first of all, i have to say that even though the module is listed on rc.conf, everytime i start the computer i need to do a modprove iwl4965 for the network card to start working, then i have to do "ifconfig wlan0 up" and then is allright.

Need help with Java app for user input 5 numbers, remove dups, etc.

I'm new to Java (only a few weeks under my belt) and struggling with an application. The project is to write an app that inputs 5 numbers between 10 and 100, not allowing duplicates, and displaying each correct number entered, using the smallest possible array to solve the problem. Output example:
Please enter a number: 45
Number stored.
45
Please enter a number: 54
Number stored.
45 54
Please enter a number: 33
Number stored.
45 54 33
etc.
I've been working on this project for days, re-read the book chapter multiple times (unfortunately, the book doesn't have this type of problem as an example to steer you in the relatively general direction) and am proud that I've gotten this far. My problems are 1) I can only get one item number to input rather than a running list of the 5 values, 2) I can't figure out how to check for duplicate numbers. Any help is appreciated.

Yikes, there is a much better way to go about this that is probably within what you have already learned, but since you are a student and this is how you started, let's just concentrate on fixing what you got.
First, as already noted by another poster, your formatting is really bad. Formatting is really important because it makes the code much more readable for you and anyone who comes along to help you or use your code. And I second that posters comment that brackets should always be used, especially for beginner programmers. Unfortunately beginner programmers often get stuck thinking that less lines of code equals better program, this is not true; even though better programmers often use far less lines of code.

Now that it is readable, exam your code and think about what you are doing here. Do you really want to print "Number Stored" before you checked to ensure it is not a dupe? That could lead to some really confused and frustrated users, and since the main user of your program will be your teacher, that could be unhealthy for your GPA.
Since I am not here to do your homework for you, I will just give you some advice, you only need one if statement to do this correctly, you must drop the else and fix the if. I tell you this, because as a former educator i know the first thing running through beginners minds in this situation is to just make the if statement empty, but this is a big no no and even if you do trick it into working your teacher will not be fooled nor impressed and again your GPA will suffer.
As for the rest, you do need a for loop inside your while loop, but not where or how you have it. Inside the while loop the for loop should be used for checking for dupes, not for overwriting every entry in the array as you currently have it set up to do. And certainly not for printing every element of the array each time a new element is added as your comments lead me to suspect you were trying to do, that would get real annoying really fast again resulting in abuse of your GPA. Printing the array should be in its own for loop after the while loop, or even better in its own method.
As for how to check for dupes, well, you obviously at least somewhat understand loops and if statements, thus you have all the tools needed, so where is the problem?

Hello RIM support,
I am a new owner of BB Playbook. Everything seems to be working okay except camera app. I can take a picture with it but nothing will show up in picture app. According to the help video, the pictures taken by camera app should show up in picture app from the menu option.

Yes, your pictures taken with the Playbook camera certainly should show in the Pictures folder on the Playbook.
Just for the heck of it, can you try turning your Playbook off and back on and check your Pictures app/folder again?
