Help with passing parameters from a servlet to an applet

dear all
i m working on a application which will check weather a file is present in a server (webserver) if it is present then it will take the file name and put it into a drop down list and there is a button on click of which i m taking the call to an applet and then on that i need the file name if it is there then i use it to draw a graph
i m struck on how to take parameter from Servlet -> Applet
thanks
Nakul

hi,
I understood your question,The context "servlet" cannot communicate to
an applet becoz applet runs at clients browswer, rather you can communicate from an applet to servlet(HTTPURLCONNECTION class).
Well coming to the problem, this is how i have understood your problem,
basically uou get the list of files from the server using normal servelt programing and you will display in an html LIst box and then click the button to view the graph or chart ,
then you just want to pass the filename which is there in the listbox to an applet and applet will display some image.
As we know all that using <PARAM NAME=XX VALUE=YY> WE CAN GET THE VALUE IN APPLET BY USING GETPARAMTER() METHOD. and Im very sure that you are not asking that question. your question is like " both the applets and
the listboxes will be loaded at once and when he selects one of the file from the list box then without refreshing the page , how to display the graph.
Im i right?
If so i guess you have to use javascript to do that stuff, and i think its like gave an id for the tag shown <applet id="yes">
then in the javascript , you can call the Java applet methods (I have never tried before but seen some demos(i dont have that links- google it for inf))
but i can give clue like.. trying the <PARAM VALUE=""> IF POSSIBLE
CHAING THE HTML CONTENT IS POSSIBLE IN IE which is again through javascript by calling yes.innerHTML="<PARAM><PARAM><PARAM><PARAM>..."
Im sure that you can call Java methods from javascript but i never tried and even you can pass an arguments to it.. Let me check out like
becoz even im interested to know abt it
bye

  • Issue with passing parameters from JSP to Backing bean

    hi ,
    I have an issue in passing parameters from my JSP to backing bean. I want to fetch the parameter from my URL in backing bean .This is how i am coding it right now. But the parameter companyID returns me null.
    URL http://localhost:8080/admin/compadmin.jsp?companyID=B1234.
    In my backing bean
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    String companyID = (String)context.getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("CompanyID");
         public void setCompanyID(String companyID)
              this.companyID=companyID;
         public String getCompanyID()
              return this.companyID;

                             </managed-property>Please let me know if iam missing something.Appreciate your help in advance
    Thanks

    Thanks very much for your input. I made changes to my bean accordingly. Actually the method getAdminType() is a not a getter of a property. It's just a method which iam calling in AdminController bean constructor to verify whether the person is System Admin or Client admin. So now the issue is inspite of making changes still the link "Copy Users" shows up for Client admin too which is incorrect.

  • Help with passing parameters to Aspell from C [SOLVED ENOUGH]

    I found this really cool utility called aspellstdout that will allow for rudimentary spell check in Scite:
    http://www.distasis.com/cpp/scitetip.htm#spell
    What I can't figure out (and the author didn't either) is how to pass parameters beyond language to Aspell. What I want to be able to do is pass mode switches. For instance, if I have a LaTeX document I want to be able to pass the -t switch (--mode=tex). I looked through aspell.h and couldn't see what I'm looking for.
    --EDIT--
    The output to xterm option is far easier and it makes quite a bit more sense now that I'm use to it. From my .SciTEUser.properties:
    # Rudimentary LaTeX Spell Checker
    command.name.2.$(file.patterns.tex)=Spell Check
    command.2.$(file.patterns.tex)=xterm -e aspell -t -c $(FileNameExt)
    command.subsystem.2.$(file.patterns.tex)=0

    Hi,
    I see you're using System.Data.OracleClient (which has been deprecated by MS) rather than Oracle.DataAccess.Client, but this works for me with Oracle's ODP, maybe it will help.
    Cheers,
    Greg
    using System;
    using System.Data;
    using Oracle.DataAccess.Client;
    using Oracle.DataAccess.Types;
    public class dataadapterfill
        public static void Main()
            using(OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection("user id=scott;password=tiger;data source=orcl"))
                con.Open();
                using(OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand("select ename from emp where ename = :1", con))
                    cmd.Parameters.Add(new OracleParameter("myename", OracleDbType.Varchar2, 50)).Value = "KING";
                    OracleDataAdapter da = new OracleDataAdapter(cmd);
                    DataSet ds = new DataSet();
                    da.Fill(ds);
                    foreach (DataRow row in ds.Tables[0].Rows)
                        Console.WriteLine("ename: {0}", row["ename"]);
    }

  • Crystal Report - problem with passing parameters from J2EE app

    i'm trying to pass a few parameters from my java application to a crystal report using the code below:
    ParameterField pfield1 = new ParameterField();
    ParameterField pfield2 = new ParameterField();
    Values vals1 = new Values();
    Values vals2 = new Values();
    ParameterFieldDiscreteValue pfieldDV1 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
    ParameterFieldDiscreteValue pfieldDV2 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
    pfieldDV1.setValue("1056");//dform.getSelectedPeriod());
    pfieldDV1.setDescription("termId");
    vals1.add(pfieldDV1);
    pfield1.setReportName("");
    pfield1.setName("@p_termId");
    pfield1.setCurrentValues(vals1);
    fields.add(pfield1);
    // check here for null condition otherwise will throw nullpointerexception
    pfieldDV2.setValue("elect");
    pfieldDV2.setDescription("allocType");
    vals2.add(pfieldDV2);
    pfield2.setReportName("");
    pfield2.setName("@p_allocType");
    pfield2.setCurrentValues(vals2);
    fields.add(pfield2);
    this report calls a stored procedure (sql server). the report displays the data but the same is not the case when i call ity from my java application. with a single parameter it works fine (even though i get a "Some parameters are missing values" ERROR on the console. But when i pass, say 2 parameters, it give me the above error first and then "JDBC Error: Parameter 2 not set or registered for output"
    Can anyone bail me out of this one?
    thanks,
    ptalkad

    I don't know about naming conventions, but could the @ signs in the variable names cause a problem?
    How have you set up the mapping in Crystal?
    Is this parameter 2 an "out" parameter returning a value?
    What version of Java are you using?
    Version of Crystal?
    What JDBC driver?

  • Need help in passing parameters from one page to another!

    Hi,
    I need to pass values that are retrieved from database from one page to another.
    But even when I use pageContext.putParameter(), I am not able to view the value in the 2nd page.
    Any pointers on how to pass parameters would be helpful..
    Thanks in advance!

    The requirement is on the main page there are 6 fields out of which 4 are read-only and are taken from the database and 1 is taken from database, but can be edited, and the 6th one is completly editable for the user. I am trying to pass these parameters using setForwardURL, and on the second page (Preview page, where all these fields are read-only), I am able to retrieve these parameters using pageContext.getParameters() and am able to display it as an exception but I am not able to set these into the fields using pageContext.putParameters().

  • Problem with passing parameters from HTML

    Im unsure as to where to turn next with this problem. What is making it all the more infuriating is that I have had this code working previously and now cant for the life of me figure out how I did it.
    What Im trying to do is I have a HTML page with two buttons on, one called "Submit Application" and the other "Submit Resource" and when I click on one I want a JSP page to be called and a certain piece of SQL to be executed, likewise when I click on the other "Submit Application" button I want a separate bit of SQL to be executed. (I know in this example both bits of SQL are identical but that is just while I get the functionality correct).
    Whats happening is that the first bit of SQL will execute if I click the "Submit Resource" button, however when I click the "Submit Application"
    button I get a "Error 500:" displayed. Im at the end of my tether as to what to do next and as I say it makes it all the more infuriating in that I had it working before. So any help would be greatly appriciated.

    You make your comparisons like this:
    if (!Subapp.equals (null))
    Well, what happens if Subapp IS equal to null. The .equals method call will be called from a NULL and you will get a NullPointerException.
    When testing for null you do:
    if (Subapp == null) (or if (Subapp != null)
    This is okay when dealing objects even with the mantra of 'don't use == to compare objects, because what you are really testing is if the reference points anywhere, and == will compare the reference.
    Also, next time you post, make sure to use the [code] tags as described in the [Formatting Help] link. It will make it easier to read.
    Also, you should try to remove the SQL from the JSP. Move it into a Servlet which builds a List that forwards to another JSP for display, or use a bean. Using java classes like Servlets and JavaBeans makes it easier to debug, and makes your JSP code easier to manage.

    i am creating the jnlp file dynamically and saving the session variables of a client as arguments in it(such as customerid described above). i generated the jnlp something like this...
    <application-desc>
    <argument>21</argument>
    <argument>cltds21.txt</argument>
    </application-desc>
    is this the way i am supposed to pass arguments through the jnlp file to the standard java application . if yes how to get these arguments from the jnlp file in standard java application using code. please help me.
    your help will be appreciated,
    thanks.

    Yes - you can pass args in this way,.
    with these settings, the args will be available to the programs main:
    public static main(String [] arg) {
    then arg[0] will be "21", arg[1] will be "cltds21.txt".

  • Call a Graphical Calc view with input Parameters from a Script Based Calc View

    Hi All.
    I am trying to call a graphical calculation view with input parameters from a script based calculation view as below but getting syntax error:
    SESSION_SAMPLE = SELECT SESSION_CREATE_DATE,SHA256,CA_MEASURE
                                 FROM "_SYS_BIC"."WILDFIRE/CV_SESSION_SAMPLE"
                                 WITH PARAMETERS  ('PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$IP_START_DATE$$',:START_DATE),
                                     'PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$IP_END_DATE$$',:END_DATE));
    START_DATE  and END_DATE are input parameters of the script based calculation view.
    Can anyone please help me with the correct syntax for accomplishing this?
    Thanks,
    Goutham

    Hi Gautham,
    One more option  what i would like you to try is the below option , here i have just changed the order of passing nothing else.
    SESSION_SAMPLE = SELECT SESSION_CREATE_DATE,SHA256,CA_MEASURE
                                 FROM "_SYS_BIC"."WILDFIRE/CV_SESSION_SAMPLE"
                                   ('PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$IP_END_DATE$$','$$END_DATE$$'),
                                  'PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$IP_START_DATE$$','$$START_DATE$$'))

  • Passing parameters from an URL to a WAD Web Template 7.0

    Hi guys, I need to pass parameters from an URL to a web template created with WAD 7.0. We need to open a template with certain filters starting from a link button located on an Xcelsius Dashboard. Our customer wants a web template to be opened with the filters defined within the Xcelsius
    The idea is to run the template with the filters defined in the URL. I know this was incredibly easy with WAD 3.x, but I didn't find any suitable solutions to use with WAD 7.0.
    What is the easiest way to do this with WAD 7.0?
    Thanks in advance and regards.
    Fabio Cristi

    Hi,
    It is possible in 7.0, but unfortunately it is a lot more complicated than i 3.x. There are quite a few examples here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/ef05462480025ae10000000a1553f7/content.htm
    I used it in a case where I wanted to embed a Web template in a BPS application and pass characteristic filters from the BPS application to the web template - similar to your requirements. Basically you need the following just to restrict one characteristic :o(
    &BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_SELECTION_STATE
    &BI_COMMAND_1-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_LIST-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_1=DP_1
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1=SELECTION_INPUT_STRING
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1-SELECTION_INPUT_STRING=PDS06
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-CHARACTERISTIC=0D_PH2
    I could only get it to work with one characteristic and I suspect, that the reason is that the URL simply gets to long (very quickly). You have to repeat the above for every characterstic you want to use :o(

  • Automatically Pass Parameters From Crystal To SAP B1

    So, I've searched extensively, and haven't been able to find an answer to my unique issue.
    This question pertains to linking a Crystal Report by parameter values to the OWOR table in SAP B1, and automatically passing those parameter values from the active record in SAP. Several other tables are used in sql joins, but the report is generated from an OWOR production order. I should start by stating that the report works great when manually populating the parameter fields when SAP calls for them.
    Overview:
    I've written a report in Crystal that contains several sub reports, some of which are looking to the DocEntry field as the parameter (DocKey@) and others that do not look to the DocEntry field at all - but rather use another field on the form to pull up information that spans more than just that one production order. I've chosen to upload as a layout in SAP (as that is all I've worked with up to this point, and it seems it needs to be to automate from a production order); but as I continue to research, it appears DocKey@ is mandatory when uploading as a layout, and in order to view the report from the actively selected production order, it must be a layout. Does that mean the parameter is required in all sub reports? Is it required in any sub report?
    I have two main issues that I need to hurdle for this report to work how I would like it to:
    1. Three of the eight Commands (one main command and seven sub-report commands) use the DocKey@ as the parameter to pass from SAP back to Crystal. The main report command, as well as four of the sub reports/commands are looking to another field in the OWOR record - which happens to be a re-seller defined field (UDF). For all intensive purposes, let's call this field BatchID. I'm assuming the sub report commands run in succession, one after the next. The reason I need to use BatchID as the parameter to pull from the record, rather than DocEntry, is there are other records that contain the same BatchID, and I want all of the info pertaining to that BatchID to populate on the report.
    Q1: The first command containing DocKey@ is automatically populated by SAP, and the user does not have to key that one in. However, the next two DocKey@ parameters do not automatically populate, and the user is asked for those values. How can I fix this?
    Q2: How can I automate the passing of BatchID so the user does not have to fill it in 5 times when they wish to preview the report(layout)? Can I link ObjectID@ to any field in OWOR? Is there any other way like creating a stored procedure or something , to automate the passing of that variable from the SAP active record to the crystal report - so the user doesn't have to key it in several times just to pull up the report?
    Thank you so much for even reading, let alone helping me with this issue!!
    Cheers,
    Nick

  • Passing parameters from one form to another

    Hi,
    I'm trying to pass parameters from 1 form to another. I would be able to call the form, but the parameters are not passed to the calling form. I do not know what's the problem. Basically, the 2nd form shows up with blank values in all the fields. Below is my code. Anybody expert in this, pl. help.
    By the way my 1st form is based on PROCEDURE.
    declare
    s_requestor           number(10);
    s_customer_impact      varchar2(4000);
    s_creation_date      date;
    l_url                varchar2(4000);
    blk               varchar2(10) := 'DEFAULT';
    begin
    p_session.set_value(
    p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_REQUESTOR',
    p_value => 88888);
    s_requestor := p_session.get_value_as_number
    (p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_REQUESTOR');
    s_customer_impact := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2
    (p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_CUSTOMER_IMPACT');
    s_creation_date := p_session.get_value_as_date
    (p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_CREATION_DATE');
    l_url:=('/pls/portal/PORTAL.wwa_app_module.link?
    p_arg_names=_moduleid&p_arg_values=1794837934&
    p_arg_names=_show_header&p_arg_values=YES&
    p_arg_names=REQUESTOR&p_arg_values='||s_requestor||'&
    p_arg_names=CREATION_DATE&p_arg_values='||s_creation_date||'&
    p_arg_names=CUSTOMER_IMPACT&p_arg_values='||s_customer_impact);
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url);
    end;

    the way to call one form from another and pass values for parameters from the procedure is like this:
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.link (
    p_arg_names => PORTAL.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2('_moduleid:_show_header:REQUESTOR:CREATION_DATE'),
    p_arg_values => PORTAL.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2('1191314879:YES:'||s_requestor||':'||s_creation_date));
    and so on.
    Hope it works for you

  • Passing parameters from dynpro to a web dynpro

    Hi all,
    we have following scenario: a user starts a web dynpro, fills in the week and push a button. By this, an interactive form is created, with the users personal ID and the week, so the user can maintain his worked times.
    Now our problem is that we want to go into that interactive form skipping the web dynpro, i.e. we don't know how to pass parameters from a dynpro to a web dynpro.
    Do someone have a clue how we can do that? I would highly appreciate any help.
    Many thanks in advance

  • Pass parameters from JSP Dyn Page to WDJ Application

    Hi,
    I am trying to pass parameters from my JSPDyn Page to WDJ Application.
    I am using NWDS 7.1 EHP1
    My code is :
    function to_WEBDYNHK()
          EPCM.relaxDocumentDomain();
          EPCM.doNavigate
        ('ROLES://pcd:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?DynamicParameter="hkparam%3Dqwertyuio"');
    This method is being called on click of a button.
    hkparam is the parameter in question.
    The JSPDyn page is an iView and the WDJ application is a page and both have been assigned to a role.
    In the properties of the WDJ Page, I have removed DymanicParameter from "Do not Forward These Parameters To Web Dynpro" property.
    However I am getting null as the value of hkparam in my WDJ application.
    The code used is :
    IWDRequest request = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject();
           String param1= request.getParameter("hkparam");
    What seems to be missing here.
    Please help.
    I went through the documentation on SDN but it does not seem to help.
    TIA,
    Himanshu

    Hi Himanshu,
    Try this code.
    EPCM.doNavigate("ROLES:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?hkparam=Dmypass1123")
    if the parameter is hkparam and the value to be passed is Dmypass1123. You need not change any design time property of the WD page, and WDProtocolAdapter should retrive the parameter.

  • Calling a Stored Procedure with output parameters from Query Templates

    This is same problem which Shalaka Khandekar logged earlier. This new thread gives the complete description about our problem. Please go through this problem and suggest us a feasible solution.
    We encountered a problem while calling a stored procedure from MII Query Template as follows-
    1. Stored Procedure is defined in a package. Procedure takes the below inputs and outputs.
    a) Input1 - CLOB
    b) Input2 - CLOB
    c) Input3 - CLOB
    d) Output1 - CLOB
    e) Output2 - CLOB
    f) Output3 - Varchar2
    2. There are two ways to get the output back.
    a) Using a Stored Procedure by declaring necessary OUT parameters.
    b) Using a Function which returns a single value.
    3. Consider we are using method 2-a. To call a Stored Procedure with OUT parameters from the Query Template we need to declare variables of
    corresponding types and pass them to the Stored Procedure along with the necessary input parameters.
    4. This method is not a solution to get output because we cannot declare variables of some type(CLOB, Varchar2) in Query Template.
    5. Even though we are successful (step 4) in declaring the OUT variables in Query Template and passed it successfully to the procedure, but our procedure contains outputs which are of type CLOB. It means we are going to get data which is more than VARCHAR2 length which query template cannot return(Limit is 32767
    characters)
    6. So the method 2-a is ruled out.
    7. Now consider method 2-b. Function returns only one value, but we have 3 different OUT values. Assume that we have appended them using a separator. This value is going to be more than 32767 characters which is again a problem with the query template(refer to point 5). So option 2-b is also ruled out.
    Apart from above mentioned methods there is a work around. It is to create a temporary table in the database with above 3 OUT parameters along with a session specific column. We insert the output which we got from the procedure to the temporary table and use it further. As soon the usage of the data is completed we delete the current session specific data. So indirectly we call the table as a Session Table. This solution increases unnecessary load on the database.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Rajesh

    Rajesh,
    please check if this following proposal could serve you.
    Define the Query with mode FixedQueryWithOutput. In the package define a ref cursor as IN OUT parameter. To get your 3 values back, open the cursor in your procedure like "Select val1, val2, val3 from dual". Then the values should get into your query.
    Here is an example how this could be defined.
    Package:
    type return_cur IS ref CURSOR;
    Procedure:
    PROCEDURE myProc(myReturnCur IN OUT return_cur) ...
    OPEN myReturnCur FOR SELECT val1, val2, val3  FROM dual;
    Query:
    DECLARE
      MYRETURNCUR myPackage.return_cur;
    BEGIN
      myPackage.myProc(
        MYRETURNCUR => ?
    END;
    Good luck.

  • Passing Parameters from One Screen to Another Screen

    Hi All,
    I need to Pass Parameters from one Module Pool Screen to Another Screen.
    I have two Parameters in First screen. I don't want to use <b>Export and Import</b>
    The first screen record should sit in the Second Screen as it is.
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Prabhakar Dharmala

    An Idea,
    Create a function group, in that define global variables. Then create two function module. Pass variable from one function module and get in the another one.
    Hope this will help you to solve. If you need further help I will create and sent you a test code.
    Darshan.
