Create a function described in step 11 to query the table and if user info is good return true.
Each page that requires a login change the security authentication to "page requires authentication".
Each page that doesn't require a login change the security authentication to "page is public".

  • Help with some java login code

    hey,
    I am a new member but used to visit the site regularly. I am undergoing a java project and I cannot seem to get my head around how to code when users log in, there name must appear at the top of each page they visit.
    User enters name into a text box. Do I use getter and setter methods? any bit of help would be of some advantage to me.
    Thanks for your time and I'll help with anyone else who is stuck.

    if JSP or servlet use Session...
    if you are using frame you have to consider... which frame is a top parent. that top frame will have the set and get method.. for you to set and retrieve the user name.. bear in mind that different object will have different user...
    so you have to play fair game ...hehehehe :-)

  • Help with implementing a login page - ADF Faces & 10.1.3

    I am having trouble getting a basic login page working and am hoping someone can help. I'd like to have a login page with username and password fields and a submit button. When submitted, I would like to authenticate the user and either send them to a second page if I find the username & password, or return them to the login page and display a global JSF message if I can't find the username/password info. Pretty standard stuff.
    I've got an app module that contains a read-only view object, which has a custom method (in MyViewImpl.java) that checks the username & password against a database table and returns a boolean. I don't have an entity object since it's a read-only view.
    I've tried 2 different approaches:
    1) Binding the username and pw inputText fields to the parameters of my custom method, and binding the submit button to the custom method, all done by drag and drop from my data controls.
    The problem with this approach is that I cannot figure out how to set the global message if the username/password combo is invalid. Once my method is invoked, it returns an "action" String and page navigation occurs (In this case, I have my custom method return a String instead of a boolean). If login fails, at what point do I set the global message?
    2) Using a backing bean for my login page and binding the fields and the button to the bean, and setting the button's action to a method in the bean, which then calls my custom method. Finally, either set the message or navigate based on the boolean returned from my method.
    This seems the better approach, since it keeps the navigation and error message in the ViewController. The problem here is that I can't figure out how to call my custom method from my backing bean. I've seen a few examples, including one using a managed property and calling the action binding's invoke() method, but haven't had any luck (see #51 on this page: http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/09/23/notYetDocumentedAdfSampleApplications.html). The invoke() method does not return a value, so I cannot get the boolean value I need.
    So, I'm apparently missing a piece (or two or three) of the puzzle here. Any guidance is most welcome! And I'm fine with changing any piece of this puzzle if there's a better way of accomplishing this.
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Frank,
    Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if container managed authentication is a good fit or not for my current application, so I will have to look into the details of how it works. Thanks for the suggestion. Whether I use it or not, I will still need to authenticate against a database and not a flat file due to the fact that users may come and go and change passwords frequently, and my application will not be handling the management of that.
    So, I would be still left with the task of accessing the ViewObject and navigating/displaying a message based on the results of that lookup. Fortunately, after slogging through my code and consulting the ADF documentation that is scattered throughout the Oracle website, I was able to get the login page working as I wanted (I found the "Accessing Bindings and Binding Containers from JSF Backing Beans" section of http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/1013eabinding/index.html to be especially helpful). I used the submit button's action to call a method in the backing bean that sent the username and password to my application module's custom authentication method. When I got the boolean result, I either returned a "success" action or set a global JSF message and returned "null".
    Needless to say, I am looking forward to the ADF/JSF version of the Toystore application, along with some sort of comprehensive framework documentation.
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Need help with Powerbook freeze issue

    I'm having a strange problem with my PB: At seemingly random times, the system will lock up and display the spinner and the only way I know how to fix it is to pop the battery out and reboot. It doesn't respond to any input once the spinner starts.
    Here's the thing: when the freeze happens, I can hear an abnormal noise from the spacebar or upper left area. It sounds like hard drive activity at short spurt intervals, with almost one-second pauses in between.
    I have repaird the HD and permissions, which said it fixed some errors, but the problem is persisting. I ran a hardware scan and all is well. I took it to the Apple Store and the guy couldn't find anything physically wrong with it after running some diagnostics.
    One last thing--I seem to be running Safari usually when these freezes occur. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Need help with powerbook 5300

    I have a powerbook 5300cs with just a floppy drive in it. The guy i got it from deleted everything off it but the os. It has mac os 7.5 rev 3 on it. How can i put diskcopy back on it. I have no cd drive for it or internet for it too. Is there a program for windows that will make mac floppy disk from bin or sea files? I am lost when it come to mac since i haven't played with them that much. Like i said the guy took everything off but the os. There no diskcopy or first aid etc. Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
    You can use the floppy drive for transfers of smaller files. The existing operating system should have a PC Exchange control panel in the Control Panels folder. This means that PC-formatted floppies can be used directly. Just keep the files downloaded on a PC unaltered; that is, do not try to decode or decompress anything until on the Mac. Once on the Mac, decode MacBinary (.bin) and BinHex (.hqx) files by dragging them onto (or opening them from within) StuffIt Expander.
    If no appropriate version of StuffIt Expander for Macintosh is available, try this: Use a PC to download the MACDISK.EXE file here. Prepare an empty PC-formatted 1.44 MB diskette via FORMAT A: in DOS or the full formatting option under Windows. Launch the MACDISK.EXE program on the PC. Follow the on-screen directions. The result will be a Mac-formatted disk with a ready-to-use StuffIt Expander 4.0.1 installer.
    You will find two versions of Disk Copy here. Disk First Aid 7.2.2 can be found here.
    A bootable floppy is always good to have at hand. The Disk Tools PPC (here) is OK for this purpose. Launch Disk Copy 6.3.3, and use the Make a Floppy command in the Utilities menu.
    If necessary, look for a fresh (US) System 7.5.3 here. No need for any Disk Copy programs in this case.
    Also, please note that you can use a standard CompactFlash memory card in a PC Card adapter for CF (such as this example). If you have a USB card reader attached to a modern computer, this is an easy and fast way of transferring files.

  • Help with Windows Domain Login on Mac

    Hello Everyone,
    We have two Mac Pros at my work running Mac OS 10.5.8 and they are attached to the Windows Server / Domain so when the Mac is turned on you login with your Domain credentials (using Win Server to Authenticate). Now all of this has been working fine since the computers were purchased a year ago, until two days ago that is. I turned on the Mac Pro in the morning and tried to login, and the Mac would freeze and do nothing. I restarted and tried again, using the same credentials I always use, but nothing worked. I called the IT guys and had my windows user account reset thinking that the password was expired, still didn't help, so I asked them to reset the whole account, still didn't help.
    At this point I asked a few of my co-workers to login on my Mac using their login info, and they had no problems at all. I decided to dig deeper into this problem and logging in under a "local" Mac account I went into the "Accounts" preferences to check what was going on, to my surprise my Domain account was visible (normally it wasn't unless you were logged in) and under the account it said "sharing only".
    I am still trying to figure out why my Domain account was changed from "Admin, Managed" to "Sharing Only"? So I decided that the easy fix here was to use a previously made (and tested) image file which I created when the Mac Pro was first setup and all the software was installed. So after cloning the image to the Mac HD I turned on the Mac and tried to login, again nothing happened. I can login using the local account, and my co-workers can login fine, but my domain login just refuses to work. I have also tired to login on other Macs in the department and I can login just fine on each one, the only Mac that doesn't let me login is my machine.
    I have run out of ideas, short of re-installing the entire system from scratch.. which I really don't want to do unless I have to. But if anyone out there has any ideas I would more than welcome them.
    Thanks in advance..

    It's probably related to some type of DRM (copy-protection) on the digital copy, and not due to it being any particular type of file format. The DRM scheme probably only works under Windows. And if that is the case, I don't think you will be able to get it to work under Mac OS X, short of running VMware Fusions or Parallels Desktop (or Sun's free VirtualBox) and installing Windows to run under Mac OS X.
    Considering the popularity of Macs recently, and higher use of Macs among creative folks, it's pretty stupid for the studio/distributor to make a key feature Windows-only.

  • Help with a simple login servlet

    I appreciate any help and assistance you all can give. I'm in an Intro to Java class on Georgia State and have an issue with this servlet I'm building. We're developing a login system where we have an http form pass a studentid and pin number to a servlet, then the servlet will match those inputs against the result set from an access database query using sql. I keep getting an error that will be posted below and I can't see any reason why I'd be getting it. Again any help would be appreciated. Here's the info:

    I've declared pin and there should be no issue with it using it as an argument in this string comparison. Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

    Alright, I've broken up the code and made it more modular. Here's my code for my Authenticator class followed by the code in the servlet.

              try {
                   con = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:odbc:CIS3270Project", "my-user", "my-passwd");
              catch (SQLException ex) {

                   rs = stmt.executeQuery (query);
              catch (SQLException xe) {
                   xe.printStackTrace();
              try {
                   //get data from result set
                   rs.next();
                   String studentId = rs.getString("StudentId");
                   String pin = rs.getString("PIN");
              catch (SQLException x) {
                   x.printStackTrace();
         public void isValid(String aPin){
              if(pin.equals(aPin)){
                   System.out.println("Login Successful");
              else{
                   System.out.println("Login Failed");
    Here's the servlet:

         a.isValid(aPin);
    response.setContentType("text/html");
    PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
    //bunch of HTML output shit goes here
    I keep getting an error of cannot resolve symbol in the isValid method. It can't resolve the variable 'pin' from the database query. Does try limit the scope of that variable to only inside that try statement? Thanks for any help you guys can give.

  • Need help with Apple ID login for iCloud/MobileMe to move Calendar.

    Despite the multiple warnings from Apple that MobileMe would be shutting down on June 30 & that I needed to migrate my "stuff," I didn't realize that my iCal calendar on my Mac & iOS devices (iPhone, iPad) was through my MobileMe account (@me.com login) and not my "main" Apple ID account (which is a Gmail login), so I didn't bother doing anything to migrate my "stuff" because I hardly ever used my MobileMe account, or so I thought. That said, my life revolves around my iCal calendar-- can't live without it! Two days ago I started getting a pop-up message on my Mac that says "iCal can’t log in to your “[email protected]” account because your password may be incorrect." It was while I went through Preferences to fix this that I realized my MobileMe account was the master one for iCal! I know that my password was correct, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that MobileMe is now shut down that caused the pop-up in the first place. Meanwhile, my calendars are not syncing between my devices, which is something I'd like to resolve ASAP!
    I'd like to push everything over to iCloud, but I noticed that for some (dumb) reason, I used my MobileMe account login for iCloud as well! Is there any way to merge or replace my MobileMe account with my Gmail Apple ID account so that my iCloud is no longer tied to MobileMe, since that program is now defunct? If not, at the very least, any help you could provide on how to transfer my calendar to the Cloud would be much appreciated! Thank you!

    Nevermind. Figured out the answer myself! Just had to dig a little deeper into the Apple Support Community than I had before I posted!

  • Help with multiple user login script

    Hi, just a little background first to what i want to do...
    I have about 300 Macs in an education environment, they are bound to the AD network for authentication and OSX Server LDAP for forced prefs, the network Home accounts are stored via Apple and Promise Raids on XServes.
    We also have 4 local user accounts on all the Macs for video etc. I have some simple scripts that i would like to force to the local Users only, (empty trash, reset dock. reset desktop pics and delete items etc).
    I have done the script and saved it as a .app and it works on the Macs as a local User login option. However, when I bind the Mac back to the LDAP the local user script stops working. I have seen the option to 'Allow local scripts' to run via WGM, but have not had success here either, (I have ran the 2 EnableMCXLoginScripts on the clients).
    Now I thought I would try to run the script as a Launchdaemon option using Lingon. This works, but its active for all users, I do not want it to delete Network account users Desktops! Is there a way I can add an 'If' option at the beginning of my script. As in..'if users home account is /Network/Sharepoint' then quit.
    I cannot run it as a one script for all Mac setting as the different local users have different Desktop Pics and Docks etc
    Any ideas or other options I could try?
    Any help hugely appreciated.
    C

    V.K, thanks for that, sometimes I just don't see the obvious.
    I have tried it as a ~/Library/LaunchAgents using lingon to create the .plist. I just cannot get it to run though. I have tried it as a .sh .scpt and as a .app file stored in the /Users/Shared folder.
    All will run if I manually launch them after login though. I have made them all executable for all.
    I have also tried to run it without the Mac connected to my LDAP. I have added the relevant folders to the allow list in WGM on the lDAP anyway...
    Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

  • Help with Note 761637 - Login restrictions prevent TMSADM logon

    Hello all,
    I'm receviing a large number of logon prompts in STMS.  I'm having trouble understanding how to implement SAP note 761637 and was hoping someone that had implemented it already could guide me.
    The note says
    If you now add an entry with sysnam=,ADMPWD and the Routestring=USER to the TMSCROUTE table
    The fields in the table are sysnam & RFCRoute (This has description of RouteString)
    When I attempt to add a entry using SE16, SYSNAM as a selecting list on only the systems I have, why does the note tell me to enter the admpwd which I assume is short for admin password.
    routestring=USER.  So I enter the word USER?
    I have implemented the following corrections
    Note 713622 - Password rules prevent TMSADM logon
    Note 749977 - Remote logons using standard client in the TMS
    Thank you for your help.

    OK, I'm having the same problems understanding this note as the original poster did.  I can't figure out if table TMSCROUTE is supposed to contain an entry like:
    ,ADMPWD     USER
    -or--
    ,<TheActualPassword>    TMSADM@<sid>.<domain>
    -or--
    some other weird variant?
    Can someone who's implemented 'stringent' passwords post and example of their working TMSCROUTE entry?  Meanwhile, I'll file a problem report, and when we get this working I'll post a response here.

  • Help with Coldfusion 5 login page

    Hi
    I want to setup a login page for my company website. This is running in Coldfusion version 5(I know its very old version). I never worked with Coldfusion before. Is there any setting in Control panel that we can require user to login to view any of our contents? or do we have edit all the pages and redirect to a login page if thats a not registered user? Please advice me.
    I cant upgrade this server to new version,because this project contract is finishing end of this year.
    Thanks
    Ananth

    You want to search up the "Application.cfm" file.
    In ColdFusion this file is automatically included at the beginning of all .cfm files requested from the same directory or any sub-directroy that does not have another Application.cfm file.  It is a common place to put login logic and other code that needs to be executed with every ColdFusion request.
    You will also want to know about the <cfapplication ...> tag that is used to name an application and provide access to applicaiton and session state scopes so that a login state can be maintained from request to request.
    A great resource would be the ColdFusion documentation that has entire chapters compete with sample code on how to set up web site authentication:

    how would I go about upgrading from tiger to  leopard?
    Buy Leopard, insert disk, follow instructions.
    You can instal php (which is built into Leopard) by renaming a file and uncommenting a line then enabling web sharing in System Preferences but I use entropy because it has the GD enabled for CAPTCHA and other features. There's a 10.4 version on their website but it mentions it's an older, unsupported and probably insecure version. You should use entropy Leopard version 5.2.9-7 for Leopard/ADDT development.
    After you get php installed you need to install MySQL which is easy to find through searching and straight-forward to instal. Then instal phpMyAdmin and you'll be good to go!
    As mentioned earlier I can walk you through the steps more thoroughly if you decide to upgrade to Leopard. There's some other steps involved: You need to configure virtual hosts so that it points to your Sites folder on your Mac and each folder in Sites folder are for each site you have so that entering site1 goes to ~/Sites/site1 on local testing server and entering site2 goes to ~/Sites/site2 in local testing server, etc. very, very easy to setup. Just edit hidden hosts file in etc folder and username.config file in apache2 hidden folder.
    There's other tutorials out there that show how to do it but most don't have all the info. I'm working on a step-by-step tutorial on my website but it's not finished yet. Maybe it'll be ready by the time you decide to upgrade to Leopard.

    HI guys, im trying to understand what each line does
    can sumone please explain??
    all i know is that it is a button event and something
    happens when the buttonn is pressed...
    private void submitButton_actionPerformed(ActionEvent
    e)
    String[] data = new String[2];Creates an array of two strings called data
    data[0] = textLogin.getText();assigns the first item of the data array to the login text (username??)
    if(data[0].length() == 0) return;if the length of the first object is 0 then it is supposed to return to the calling function
    char[] c = textPass.getPassword();creates a character array and assigns it the value of the password
    data[1]= new String(c);this assigns the second item of the data array the value of the char array from above
    if(data[1].length()==0) return;if the length of the password is 0 then it returns to the calling function
    controller.loginAction(data);sends the data array as a parameter to another function that seems to do something with the login information (username, and password)
    basically the author is just showing two of the many ways to create a string
    The first way assigns the string value directly. The second way assigns the string value with a char array which is just another form of the String constructor.
