  • Select list null value issue - for filtering the tabular form report

    hello,
    I have a tabular form created on emp table and in the table their are entries for the employees who don't have a location, like it is null for some of the employees.
    Now I have created a select list item - for filtering the results based on location.
    my select query for select list item is
    select distinct location_name d,location_id r from emp order by 1
    -- so my select list contains all the distinct location_name including the null on my tabular form.
    so based on the selelcted value(in the select list), I am able to filter the results in my tabular form.
    but the thing is that when i try to select an null value from my select list - i am not able to filter my report - like its displaying all the records, its not filtering.
    can anyone help me out with this.
    thanks.

    Hi
    Try below select for LOV
    select distinct nvl(location_name,'No Location') d,nvl(location_name,'No Location') r from emp order by 1 And then change tabular from select where clause also use nvl(location_name,'No Location') like
    SELECT *
    FROM emp
    WHERE nvl(location_name,'No Location') = :Px_YOUR_ITEMBr, Jari

  • Need help with the session state value items.

    I need help with the session state value items.
    Trigger is created (on After delete, insert action) on table A.
    When insert in table B at least one row, then trigger update value to 'Y'
    in table A.
    When delete all rows from a table B,, then trigger update value to 'N'
    in table A.
    In detail report changes are visible, but the trigger replacement value is not set in session value.
    How can I implement this?

    You'll have to create a process which runs after your database update process that does a query and loads the result into your page item.
    For example
    SELECT YN_COLUMN
    FROM My_TABLE
    INTO My_Page_Item
    WHERE Key_value = My_Page_Item_Holding_Key_ValueThe DML process will only return key values after updating, such as an ID primary key updated by a sequence in a trigger.
    If the value is showing in a report, make sure the report refreshes on reload of the page.

  • Help with SELECT - selecting range of numbers

    Hi,
    I need a help with SELECT statement. I want to select Dates starting from today and ending 30 days back. So the result would be like:
    TRUNC(SYSDATE)
    TRUNC(SYSDATE) - 1
    TRUNC(SYSDATE) - 2
    TRUNC(SYSDATE) - 3
    TRUNC(SYSDATE) - 30I was thinking to simply select truncated SYSDATE in first column, and in second column numbers 0, 1, 2, ... 30. Then I would simply do a difference first column - second column. But how to select such sequence of numbers? I don't want to select each number (date) in separate select statement and then unioning them.
    Does anybody have an idea?
    Thanks for help, Dan

  • Need help Take out the null values from the ResultSet and Create a XML file

    hi,
    I wrote something which connects to Database and gets the ResultSet. From that ResultSet I am creating
    a XML file. IN my program these are the main two classes Frame1 and ResultSetToXML. ResultSetToXML which
    takes ResultSet & Boolean value in its constructor. I am passing the ResultSet and Boolean value
    from Frame1 class. I am passing the boolean value to get the null values from the ResultSet and then add those
    null values to XML File. When i run the program it works alright and adds the null and not null values to
    the file. But when i pass the boolean value to take out the null values it would not take it out and adds
    the null and not null values.
    Please look at the code i am posing. I am showing step by step where its not adding the null values.
    Any help is always appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Need help with trim and null function

    Hi all,
    I need help with a query. I use the trim function to get the first three characters of a string. How do I write my query so if a null value occurs in combination with my trim to say 'Null' in my results?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply. What am I doing wrong?
    SELECT trim(SUBSTR(AL1.user_data_text,1,3)),NVL
    (AL1.user_data_text,'XX')
    FROM Table
    I want the XX to appear in the same column as the
    trim.The main thing you're doing wrong is not formatting your code. The solution may become obvious if you do.
    What you're saying is:
    SELECT  trim ( SUBSTR (AL1.user_data_text, 1, 3))
    ,       NVL ( AL1.user_data_text, 'XX' )
    FROM    Tablewhich makes it clear that you're SELECTing two columns, when you only want to have one.
    If you want that column to be exactly like the first column you're currently SELECTing, except that when that column is NULL you want it to be 'XX', then you have to apply NVL to that column, like this:
    SELECT  NVL ( trim ( SUBSTR (AL1.user_data_text, 1, 3))
                , 'XX'
    FROM    Table

  • Problem with QofQ and Null Values

    Just converted from CF5 to CF7. Finally figured out what was
    causing the error message :
    "The value "" cannot be converted to a number" when running a
    QofQ. It happens whenever there is a NULL (and I think a ZERO)
    value in the QofQ. I'm using the QofQ in a seperate chart program.
    The main query merges data from a store and a region table.
    I'm doing a LEFT OUTER JOIN to combine the REGION with the STORE,
    AND so that stores with NO SALES for a given day will show up as
    ZERO. On the main report, when I don't use a QofQWhen grouping by
    DAY or MONTH, I can test the value in the CFOUTPUT for NULL or ZERO
    and display "0" or "N/A" on the report.
    But when I try to chart it, using a QofQ to read in the
    values from the main query, and format the numbers, I get this
    error message. I've tried using the CAST function, using FLOAT,
    DOUBLE, BIGINT, etc., but still get same error message.
    The only way I could fix this is to add a WHERE statement to
    the QofQ, that only includes sales values greater than ZERO. But
    then, I have gaps in my chart because stores with NO SALES for a
    given day or MONTH don't appear. Because they are removed from the
    query. The whole point of LEFT JOINS is to include items with no
    values (or NULL) values.
    Does anyone know if it's possible to keep these values in a
    QofQ? So that items (e.g., store locations in my case) with NULL or
    ZERO values for some or all days or months can be charted? Even
    with a ZERO value? I've read everything I can get my hands on
    regarding QofQ, the CAST function, etc., but nothing seems to work.
    Thanks for any help. (FYI, didn't have this problem with CF5. It's
    QofQ could handle NULL or ZERO values without providing an error).
    Gary

    Well, I tried the IsNull function on the 3 SUM() values I was
    calculating in my SELECT statement (on a LEFT OUTER JOIN QUERY),
    and I STILL got another "cannot convert "" to a number" but this
    time the error message was more direct, and pointed me to a DATE
    field in my query, where I was SORTING AND GROUPING either by DAY
    or MONTH (depending on what user selected on form).
    In my QofQ, I'm not just reformating the integer SUM()
    values, but also the date values. So, I applied the IsNull()
    function to the DATE values in my main query. I still kept getting
    errors. But after experimenting ((SQL Server BOL docs doesn't give
    ISNULL() examples for DATE FIELDS, only NUMBER fields), I tried
    putting the dates in SINGLE QUOTES in my IsNull() function, the
    QUERY RAN. Then I wasn't sure WHAT date to enter, e.g., 1/1/1889 or
    1/1/2001, etc.
    Then, I discovered, after experimenting, that you cannot just
    blindly enter ANY date when using IsNull in a date field,
    especially if you are using CFGRAPH to chart the results by day.
    You have to select a date within the date range the user selected,
    so this means using the FORM.DATE (or URL.DATE) value from the
    form. Here's the working example from my SELECT main query:
    SELECT SUM(ISNULL(d.ttldb,0)) AS SumOfDB,
    SUM(ISNULL(d.ttldbv,0)) AS SumOfDBV,
    SUM(ISNULL(d.ttldbi,0)) AS SumOfDBI,
    <CFIF '#url.reptype#' IS "DAILY">
    ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date1#') AS depday
    <CFELSE>
    month(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#')) AS TranMonth,
    year(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#')) AS TranYear
    </CFIF>
    Then I discovered that whatever date was used in the URL.DATE
    field (in my case it would be one of the two date field from the
    form, and depended on whether you coded DATE1 or DATE2, the chart
    would always show ZERO values for that date. So I tried putting the
    IsNull() date values in the GROUP BY and ORDER BY statements, e.g.,
    <CFIF '#url.reptype#' IS "DAILY">
    GROUP BY ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date1#')
    ORDER BY ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date1#') DESC
    <CFELSE>
    GROUP BY year(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#')),
    month(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#'))
    ORDER BY year(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#')),
    month(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#'))
    </CFIF>
    And this worked. The report ran just fine, and the chart
    charted every value correctly.
    I guess you have to learn all the little "quirks" about CF7
    and how it's QofQ and chart programs work. But so far, so good.
    Thank you all for your help. Now I've got to update other old
    CF5 programs that are returning errors when there are null values
    from my LEFT OUTER JOIN queries. Will take some time, but at least
    I know how to do it. Thanks to your help.
    I really appreciate your time and efforts to help with this
    issue.

  • HELP NEEDED !! Null values in Database

    Hi there !!
    I need help with EJB 3.0 passing null values to database. The situation looks like that :
    I have created EJB entity class called "Osoba.java", it is in relation
    with "Rola.java" (one to many). Each Object of class Osoba can have
    many Roles. Then I created "OsobaServiceBean.java " I included it with
    metod "CreateUnregisteredOsoba(Osoba , Boolean)". From "flex" level I
    call this bean - call is accepted, and as a result new object of class Osoba is added to database. Problem is that only one column is filled in table,
    dispite that in service bean I enforce it to fill all columns (see

    public void deleteRola(Rola rola) {
    rola = manager.find(Rola.class, rola.getId());
    rola.getOsoba().getRole().remove(rola);
    manager.remove(rola);

    The row numer 1 is added by hand and it works. row number 33 and 32
    are added to database by method CreateUnregisteredOsoba. As you can
    see fields login as well as Roles and RoleGroup are empty (NULL). What
    Im doing wrong ?
    Thanks for your help -
    Roman Kli&#347;
    PS. Table Osoba works fine - everything is added as I want.

    I solved problem.
    The reason why EJB had not added anything to database NULL was becouse wrong names of class. Ive refactored whole class Rola.java to RolaClass.java and suddenly it worked.
    True reason is still unknown but most importent is that it works.
    Thanx for reading topic - hope next time someone will answer my questions.

  • Selection of Null Value in Transformation file

    Hi Guru's,
    I've been trying to select NULL values of a field in transformation file but unfortunately system always gets both null and filled values of the field ALTHOUGH i had maintained the Selection Option.
    Data management package is: Load Transaction Data from BW InfoProvider UI
    The technical name of field: 0FLAG
    I've tried each possibilities as in below
    SELECTION: 0FLAG, *STR()
    SELECTION: 0FLAG, *STR();
    SELECTION: 0FLAG, ""
    SELECTION: 0FLAG, " "
    SELECTION: 0FLAG, NULL
    SELECTION: 0FLAG, *STR(#)
    SELECTION: 0FLAG, #
    SELECTION: 0FLAG, "#"
    Doesn't work.
    thanks in adv. for your precious supports

    Hi Sadi,
    I understand your question that, you want to load tr. data from infocube and you have a trouble with one field which name is "0flag" in this cube, right? If your case is above, you need conversion file for flag, and convert like that # = "DUMMY" or sth.
    Or, you can solve in BW with transformation file routine.
    I hope, it will help you.
    Thanks.

  • Help with Select Option

    Hi
    I have this select option in the user screen
    SELECT-OPTIONS: ID FOR PA0094-FPNCD.            " Emp Id
    But when the user tries to look up the code by clicking on to the square box beside the input box it gives the user all the entries from the Field FPNCD.
    My question is there anyway i could limit it to only show certain codes when they click on the box. (In this case codes for USA only).
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi anwarul,
    May be in this way.
    First pop up the internal table by selecting the required data...
    in your case you want the data of only USA.
    Make select query according to ur requirement..
    and then use the FM  <b>F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST</b>
    Go through the below example.
    tables kna1.
    data:
    begin of t_values occurs 2,
    value like kna1-begru,
    end of t_values,
    t_return like ddshretval occurs 0 with header line.
    select-options s_begru for kna1-begru.
    at selection-screen on value-request for s_begru-low.
    clear t_values.
    t_values = 'PAR*'.
    append t_values.
    t_values = 'UGG'.
    append t_values.
    <b>call function 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'</b>
    exporting
    retfield = 's_begru'
    value_org = 'S'
    tables
    value_tab = t_values
    return_tab = t_return
    exceptions
    parameter_error = 1
    no_values_found = 2
    others = 3.
    if sy-subrc = 0.
    read table t_return index 1.
    s_begru-low = t_return-FIELDVAL.
    Hope it will be helpful to you.

  • Help with Select Lists in Classic Report

    Hello,
    I working with APEX 4.1. Oracle 11.
    I have a simple classic report with 4 columns (Username, Role, Read, Update). The Read and Update columns are Select Lists with values of "Yes", "No".
    Report looks like this:
    Username Role Read Update
    JSmith Admin Yes Yes
    LJones Dev Yes No
    My requirement, is that when a user selects Yes from the Update select list, the value of the associated Read column needs to change to Yes as well for that particular Username. The change has to occur upon selection of Yes from the Update select list.
    Im not very strong with javascript, but for testing purposes I applied: onchange="alert('hi');" on the Update column. When I make a change to the Update select list, the alert does pop up.
    Can anyone suggest how I can implement the change to the associated Read value of Yes if the Update value chosen is Yes, for that particular row.
    Thank you,
    Laura

The complexity in this case is that you're using items in a report rather than standard page items.

  • Need help with select that month range with flexible first date

    Hello everyone,
    I am trying to create a selection of month range (will be in a WITH clause) for a report to display monthly data. But the first month start date can be any date. (Not necessarily the first date of the month)
    Examples:
    Report input parameters:
    Start Date: 08/10/12
    End Month: Dec 2012
    I was trying to build a with select that will list
    Month_Start, Month_End
    08/10/12, 31/10/12
    01/11/12, 30/11/12
    01/12/12, 31/12/12
    OR
    Month_Start, Next_Month
    08/10/12, 01/11/12
    01/11/12, 01/12/12
    01/12/12, 01/01/13
    End month is optional, so if no value the select will list only
    08/10/12, 01/11/12
    Oracle Database Details is
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production

       and rownum > 1If I put comment – on line and rownum > 1, as
    -- and rownum > 1The result I get is
    START_DATE                     NEXT_MONTH
    01/10/12                       01/10/12
    01/11/12                       01/11/12

    10/10/2012                     01/11/12    But when I try to remove the duplicate period (of the first month) out by restrict rownum, it do not return any rows for the second select at all. The result I get is:
    START_DATE                     NEXT_MONTH
    10/10/2012                     01/11/12    Can anyone advise what wrong with the select statement ?
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Ann

    Hi,
    Here's one way:
    WITH   params      AS
         SELECT     TO_DATE (:p50_start_date, 'DD/MM/YYYY')     AS start_date
         ,     TO_DATE (:p50_end_month,  'DD/MM/YYYY')     AS end_date
         FROM     dual
    SELECT     GREATEST ( start_date
               , ADD_MONTHS ( TRUNC (start_date, 'MONTH')
                            , LEVEL - 1
              )               AS month_start
    ,     LEAST     ( end_date
              , ADD_MONTHS ( TRUNC (start_date, 'MONTH')
                          , LEVEL
                        ) - 1
              )               AS month_end
    FROM    params
    CONNECT BY     LEVEL     <= 1 + MONTHS_BETWEEN ( end_date
                                      , TRUNC (start_date, 'MONTH')
    ;:p50_end_month doesn't have to be the last day of the month; any day will work.
    If you want to generate a Counter Table containing the integers 1 througn x in SQL, you could say
    SELECT  ROWNUM  AS n
    FROM    all_objects
    WHERE   ROWNUM  <= x
    ;but, starting in Oracle 9.1, it's much faster to say
    SELECT  LEVEL   AS n
    FROM    dual    -- or any table containing exactly 1 row
    CONNECT BY  LEVEL <= x
    ;Also, x can be greater than the number of rows in all_objects.

  • Help with selecting chuncks of data from a table

    Hi all,
    I need help with a query that should do the following.
    I have a table with vessel messages, and I need to get the last "NumMsgs" messages from a group of vessels.
    The problem I have is that if I order the table by Vessel_ID, MessageDate DESC, I can´t do ROWNUM < NumMsgs (<-- Then number of messages to be shown is a user parameter)
    I know it should be something like:
    select * from (
    select *
    from Messages m
    where TRIM(m.V_ID) = '11597' /* I was trying for a single vessel atm */
    order by m.V_ID, m.MESSAGEDATE desc
    where rownum < :NumMsgs
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance !

    What about :

    where TRIM(m.V_ID) = '11597' /* I was trying for a single vessel atm */
    where rn < :NumMsgsAnyway, I don't very well understand your problem, your query work fine, see for example :

  • Select list -null value?

    When you create a select list on a column, and run the page for the first time, the drop down doesn't show any value. I realized that once you click on the drop down to see what the values are, at the bottom of the list there is a blank value. But you can only see this the first time you load the page. Once you click on any other value, that blank value is gone. How does this work? How can I select the blank value even after you had selected other values previously?
    Thanks,

    Hello all, i am into this intro to java class. my assignment is to write a program that prompts the user for two integers and then prints the sum, difference, average, product , distance (absolute value of the difference) Maximum(largest of the two) and Minimum(smallest fo the two) here is my code so far

    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.InputStreamReader;
    import java.lang.Math;
    public class Sample4
