Help with tape backup

I am trying to configure my database to use a tape backup device. I have Veritas Backup Exec running a Dell tape backup, when trying to test from Enterprise Manager I get the following error:

I'm guessing I missed some kind of configuration step somewhere, but I am unsure what. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would say OSB is really good product and performance wise also it is great. Though they haven't launched OSB for all of the platforms yet like AIX, 64bit Linux but all these are suppose to come by the end of Sep. I have been participated in beta testing of this product, it was great and now we are waiting for AIX and 64-bit linux releases so that we can start using them as primary backup tool.
It can take the file system backup too without any problem.

Hello to reconfigure the robot without restarting the server use the command nsrjb -HEv

  • I need help with a backup file that was deleted and now undeleted from my hard drive

Last month (May 6, 2011), I was updating my iPod Touch 4G with the new software that came out. I always make a backup of my iPod's data before I update it. While my iPod was updating I left my iPod and computer alone and was doing things around the house with my mom. And when I was done I went in my room to see if it was done and my computer decides that it was going to freeze and crash on me (with my iPod plugged in and stuck on the updating or verifying software mode.) I managed to get my iPod back to working condition again but losing everything on my iPod. I formatted my computer hard drive but I managed to get back the backup I lost. I need help on getting the backup into iTunes so I can get my data back. I am not Jailbroken and I plan not to Jailbreak. I however saved the backup file in a folder other than the Mobilesync folder. I am also running on Windows XP. Someone please help me and thank you in advance!

I was able to backup my iPod and I tried to restore my iPod again and it goes through the process and everything but it restores the temporary data that I had on there. It didn't restore application data or the current photos and videos that I had saved in Camera Roll before this all had happened. It is almost like it goes back to factory settings but I have some photos that were saved on the other backup that I was temporarily running on. The backup that I am looking to restore is the only backup file in the Mobilesync folder as of right now the others are saved somewhere safe for right now. Why doesn't it restore my application data or my Camera Roll pictures and videos that I saved before my computer crashed last month? Can this problem be fixed?

  • Xserver Fibre Channel with tape backup issues?

Is this correct, that OS X 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 has a fibre channel issue with external tape drives (as well as SCSI drives)???
And this is to be fixed in 10.4.11? Do we have a time frame when we will see 10.4.11 to fix this major snafu?
I'm going to decide on a different server (in the meantime) and do net backups if this is the case. But what about others that run backup off the server, attached to an Xserve RAID?
BTW, I contacted BRU support with query on their software...I give kudos to them. Their support is spot on!

Retrospect is just hideously, egregiously out of date and I don't think EMC gives a d*mn, at all.
Even pre-Intel, it will happily LOCK up your server while failing to properly time out when trying to talk to a tape library. It's well-known, Retro + Tape Library = h*ll on earth. And the fault lies squarely with Retro because something like Bru and other more expensive software does not have the same issue.
So let's just make sure -not- to judge "SCSI" isues in OS X based on the ungodly-awful behaviour of Retrospect. Might as well do automobile performance tests using only amateur drivers ; )

  • Help with disabling Backup Assistant Plus

Upgraded to ICS last week. Now since there is no Charge Only option when plugging in to PC via USB, is there a way to keep Backup Assistant Plus from always opening the page?

I would recommend you use Google android services for you device. I have used Google in almost all of my phones and with never a problem. Backup assistant plus is not as stable or as easy to use as Google. Just set up a Google account if you don't have one already (and I'm sure you do) .  Give it a try
    Do a Google backup
      1. Sign in to your Google's device, online account and go to settings.
      2. Personal, Backup and reset, and select both Backup my data and Automatic restore.
      3. Go to Settings, Personal, Accounts & Sync, and select your Google account.
      4. Select all of the option boxes listed, to ensure that all available data is synced.
      5. Though the specific procedure may slightly vary between Android devices, the process is generally the same.

  • Help with the Backup of my DB

Hello! I would like to backup my database.I tried using the Backup Database utility that Oracle 10g Express offers but i get this message:

    Unknown log mode: SP2-0640:.
    Log file is at: SP2-0640

My database is in Archive mode(Log archiving:on) . Is there a way to fix this problem? Or can i just copy some files from my PC and paste them to another PC ?
I would appreciate if you tell me in simple steps how can i backup the database because i am a newbie in oracle.
Thanx in advance for any answers...

My database is always up and running before i start the backup. I have read this post and tried to edit the code in the Backup.bat file. For example i wrote connect tom/1234 as SYSDBA instead of connect / AS SYSDBA (where tom is the username and 1234 the password of my account) but i get the same problem.Perhaps i didn't understand exactly what i should change. I think that when i try to Backup oracle doesn't recognize me as a user with sufficient privileges. I tried to run backup as administrator(windows vista feature) but the problem remains... I really don't know what to do.

  • Need help with restore backup from icloud

    Hi.
A few days ago I've deleted data and settings from my iPad and updated it to 8.1.2. Then, I wanted to restore backup from iCloud, but got error, that I can't restore my backup. Tried three last copies, other wifi, many solutions from support - the same error. Support said me, my backups are broken. And they can't help me.
OK. I've found some programs in internet for download backups and restore it. Only trials. And they work, they see my backups, download and show me my data. I need to buy program to restore data to my iPad. I don't want to buy, because, if that programs can restore my data, why Apple support can't do this?

Photos and videos from your camera roll are backed up to iCloud when you do an iCloud backup.

  • Help with Library Backup files

Hi,  I'm trying to get some of the clutter off my HD, so I got OmniDiskSweeper.  One thing I found, in my User->Library->Application Support folder, my MobileSync folder is 3.6 GB, and if I go into Backup, the Backup Library folder is 8 GB.
Can I delete some of these flies in these folders?  I'm not even sure what MobileSync is, I thought my iPhone synced through iTunes.  Then in the Backup folder, some of these backups go back to 2009 (I'm thinking if I could delete these, then just do a Full Disk backup right away).
If I can delete files, what is the best way to do it?  (I know sometimes just going into the folder and moving to the trash can cause problems, as the app search for the file.
    Thanks for help

Here's another file size question: in my HD folder, I found a hidden folder marked "private".  In it is a folder that says "var" and inside it is a folder named "vm" that is 6.2 GB, and contains a whole bunch of files named "swapfile1" (1-26) each of which is 256 mb.  What is this for and can it be deleted?
    thanks again for help

  • Help with Syncing/Backup Apps from Mac to iTouch

I've been predominately buying apps through the iTouch, but last night I decided to buy from my mac and have it sync over the apps. I bought 2 apps and then had itunes sync all my apps. I got a message that I had apps on my itouch that were not in my library, so I said "yes" to transfer them over. Of course this took like 2+ hours (I went to bed and came back in the morning). The troubling thing is that none of the apps that I purchased got transferred over. I then tried to sync specific apps, hoping that the sync time would be reduced, which it was, but again, the apps didn't get transferred over and the apps that I unchecked from syncing were still there. I did a shut down/reboot of the iTouch hoping that would help, but the old apps were still there and the new ones weren't.
Any suggestions on what I can do next?

Hello there I've been trying to sort this all weekend, I only want to sync a playlist to my phone and ipad over wifi, tried setting up on itunes but playlist won't transfer over wifi
I've ticked sync this phone over wifi and followed all other trouble shooting things but it's just not happening

  • Help with Timemachine backup please?

    Hi there,
Apple recently explained that my macbook was very corrupt and that Timemachine would help me back up my macbook before re-setting to factory settings.
When I've plugged in my iomega hard drive it says this is incompatable and needs to be erased before it can be used for the timemachine back up.
My hard drive has a number of files from an old HP laptop which I don't want to loose.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you!!

Time Machine works on external Mac OS Extended formatted disks. Your iomega drive is probably NTFS formatted, that's why OS X complains. Also, NTFS volumes can only be read by OS X. So you don't have many choices. Get another disk or reformat the one you have.

  • Help with a backup

I just had erased all my hard drive and i loose all, and all my songs, but my songs where at my ipod, how can i make a backup of my ipod on my pc, the idea is put the songs of the ipod on the pc, how can i do that?
    Thanks
    Milo

    Milo,
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring playlists, ratings, playcounts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
XPlay (Software For Cross-Platform Functionality & Music Recovery)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least three sets of your music:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and the computer is not considered having any backup. If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer, then create and maintain two external sets.
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a backup strategy: http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=210939&messageID=1215125

not it wont activate i never had this problem before when i orignally upgraded what can i do as everything is on icloud as ios 6.0

Pls. use the confidential iOS 6 beta forums, thanks.
However, as you are running a beta in violation of the required agreements I doubt you have sufficient credentials to access the proper resources....I also doubt it matters to you, which explains why you're here - just know that Apple takes a dim view of your situation, and using their forums to avoid their controls is just stupid.

  • Need help with iMac OSX backup

    Hi,
I currently have a mac book air running osx 10.8.
And i recently purchased a imac running osx 10.8.
I need help with the backup feature between my imac and macbook air.
I work with excel files a lot, using Microsoft office for mac.
so basically what i want is to have a 2 way backup between my imac and macbok air.
That is, when i make any changes, create or delete a file in either of the system, i want the other system to make the change automatically.
For example when i make changes to a spreadsheet (excel file) on my imac, i want the same to be updated automatically on my macbook air, and vice versa.
I want both the machines to have the same files, updating the files as they get modified. or deleting if its deleted on any one of the system. Like a 2 way sync.
Kindly let me know if theres any way to do this.  or something similar that can help me, like i mainly require the excel spreadsheets to be updated, system files, other libraries are not important.
I can also put all my files in a single folder if thats required.
Ps. Both the machines are connected on the same network, and i can also hook a external drive for the backup purpose if required.
I searched google for softwares and couldnt find the appropriate ones.
    Any help would be appreciated.
Let me know if you require any more info on this.
    Thanks
    Gaurav.

  • New to Solaris administration - Need some help with some issues

    Hello all,
I am a new to Solaris administration and need some assistance with a few things. I was going to make separate posts but decided it would be easy to keep track of in one. I really do not know much about the OS but I do have a little Linux background so that might help me out. I am going to number my problems to keep them sorted, so here we go.
    The machine:
    Sunfire V880
    4x 73GB HDs
PCI dual fiber channel host adapter
    Attached RAID array:
Sun StorEdge T3 Array with 9x 73GB HDs
Sun DDS4 Tape Drive in a Unipack
    OS: Solaris 5.10
Updates: Updated everything except 2 patches (Updating is a real pain isn't it? At least it seems that way to me.)
    1. So I might as well start with the update issues! These 2 updates will not install:
    -PostgreSQL 8.2 source code, (137004-02)
Utility used to install the update failed with exit code {0}.
-Patch for mediaLib in solaris, (121620-03)
Install of update failed. Utility used to install the update is not able to save files. Utility used to install the update failed with exit code 4.
No idea why the PostgreSQL update is not working, but the medialib patch seems to not have enough hard drive space.
    2. Where are all the drives? I don't know how to find the RAID box or the other 3 internal hard drives. When I installed the OS, I think I installed it on only one hard drive and that might be part of the reason why the medialibe update above says that I don't have enough space.
    3. I probably need more space for the OS and updates, is there a way to "add" space onto the hard drive that currently is running the OS?
    3. Once I see the other hard drives I wish to combine them to make a RAID 0 and RAID 5 array, how do I go about doing that?
    4. How can I find/see the tape drive?
    5. Does my swap space really need to be 64GB? I know the book I have read suggests it, but I only made it 5GB because it didn't seem to make sense to make it 64GB.
Thank you in advance for the help. I know these are a lot of questions to ask but please go easy on me :)

Utility used to install the update failed with exit code {0}.
Exit code 0 means there were no errors. When you run showrev -p 137004-02, does your system show that the patch is installed? You can check the log for a particular patch add attempt in /var/sadm/patch/+patch_num_rev+1- A bunch of stuff shows up, here is a portion (I am not entirely sure what it means, there must be a least a page of stuff like this):
