Help with virtix special effects

i have been searching for special effect plugins for imovie. I finally found the one for me. Its called virtix arsenal pack. Sadly their store has been closed for a long time for repairs. It seems they have disapeared. Does anyone know if they have a new site or if there is something similar to the product i mentioned?

Help with adding video effects.

Okay, so I am very new with Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, and decided to start working with video effects.
So far I can add an effect onto a video clip that I dragged down from the source monitor, but that applies the effect to the whole video track. I want it to start and end at a certain point.
I have read the Adobe Help Viewer on effects many times over and over, but still, I cannot get it to work.
I have set in and out put points in my Timeline, and went into the effects controls and peaked around, but have had no success at all with getting my effect to start and end at a certain point.
Can anyone help me out a little bit? I'm sure you are all Pro's at this, haha.

ID CS3 Transparency weirdness with text/special effects

Okay, I was putting together a brochure for my job today and noticed this oddity. I placed a text box w/text over a stock photo and printed it out - everything was fine. Then I added a drop shadow to the text and all of a sudden the photo became rather desaturated.
Just in case this was some sort of weirdness with that particular document, I created a new document, placed several photos on a page, and then created a text box and applied a drop shadow. All the photos on the page again noticeably lost saturation, and here's the weird part, the text box didn't even touch any of the photos. It only appears to affect items on the same page - items on other pages are unaffected.
It seems whenever you have an object or text frame on a page with transparency or a special effect like a drop shadow, all the photos on the page lose about 20% saturation.
Am I missing something that I can compensate for, or is this a bug/feature?

I'm using shadows and transparency overlays in my InDesign CS3 application. When I output that file to a press resolution pdf file, it appears fine. However, when the digital printer runs the project, the transparency disappears and i get white boxes in the place of transparent boxes.
The print provider is a non-offset source and is using some other RIP to process the file. Is the transparency feature posing a problem in the offset invironment?

Help with Groups and Effects

I'm still fairly new to Illustrator so even when I tried to Google for my solution I didn't know how to word it properly so I though you guys would be able to help me.
So, basicaly I'n trying to keep my "Flag" effect applied to the ribbon/banner but i want only the top of it to be above the circle. However, if try to take the top selected layers out of the group to place on top of the circle, the "Flag" effect
resets or if I try putting the cicle in the group it gets the effect applied on to it, which I don't want. Only way I can think of doing it is with a clipping mask but it doesnt look so great :/

Both Groups and Layers are nothing but sets of objects which are contiguous (next to each other) in the object stacking order. Just think of them as "brackets" around a portion of a list for organizational and selection convenience.
All objects reside on a Layer. Layers contain Groups and objects, because a Group is a kind of object in the same sense that a set of objects in set theory is itself treated as an object. Layers are not contained in Groups. In Illustrator, all objects are listed in the Layers palette; that does not make them Layers. Layers can exist and be completely empty. Groups can't.
Objects all exist in a stack. A path is an object. You cannot have one portion of object A in front of object B and another portion of object A behind object B. All such appearances of objects intertwining that way are "faked" by using multiple objects which merely appear to be one object.
It's not clear from your description what exactly you are trying to accomplish. But basically, you will most easily accomplish it by cutting either the ribbon or the ellipse at places where they don't overlap. Others often trot out recommendations involving clipping masks. In the vast majority of cases, tedious masking is not necessary, and simply cutting a path into two or more objects and restacking them is both easier and simpler in terms of the resulting constructs.

Help with Premiere, After Effects and Davinci workflow

I'm scratching my head wondering how I'm going to solve this workflow issue that I have, but hopefully it isn't that much of an issue.
We have shot a short film with an A-cam that delivers CinemaDNG files. I converted these files into Apple ProRes 422 Proxy with Davinci Resolve 9 Lite
and then I imported the proxy files into Adobe Premiere CC. The idea is to then to > edit the film in Premiere > import it to After Effects CC via Dynamic Link (to make the effects we're after) > send it back to Premiere > export as XML to Davinci > relink to the original CinemaDNG-files and perform the color grading, and then finally export the film (either back to premiere to export it with audio or export it directly from Davinci in some way?)
I'm new to all this and I would really appreciate help!

Well I thought I had a good post prod plan, but now I realized it maybe wasn't that good when AE gets involved.
My initial idea was to follow this workflow tutorial > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kpg0k3aD088#t=327 (He have now made this tutorial private and I'm having a hard time remembering my YouTube password so at the moment I can't watch it... great)
CC may not specifically support A-CAM's CinemaDNG files, but it will do for a rough cut, even though it looks purple and horrible
What do you think about this? I import the cinemadng folders into premiere and make a rough cut out of it, then I'll export the sequence as a XML file and bring it into Davinci where I relink to the cinemadng files and perform the color grading and then export it as 422 HQ (for example?) and then bring it back to Premiere to make my final edit and also use Dynamic Link with After Effects? Any possible failures with that technique?

Ps: Reason why I'd like to perform color grading in Davinci and not Speed Grade is because of the purple tint I get in SG and PP!

Help with crosseyed 3d effects and techniques.

I dabble in crosseyed 3d.
This requires the left half of the stage to represent what the right eye will see, and the left eye sees the right half.
This is the format that youtube wants for its stereoscopic uploads.
I want to apply some 3d effects to my clips.
In order to have them appear correctly in cross eyed mode, (and therefore in any other mode that youtube displays), I need to manage the two sides independently.
Can I drag a 3d effect onto each side of the screen? But how do i assign each half its own camera.
If i could manage each half with its own timeline animations then i think i can get the desired result.
OR....
It would be better to have two cameras looking upon the same scene, and have each camera project onto the left and right sides.
Either approach would probably have its advantages and disadvantages.
I can't get either technique to work.
Where can i go to find out how to do these types of tricks?
I've searched the tutorials and (of course) none of them have much info that can help me.
So i am asking you folks if you have any advice or techniques that i may use.

I have a life long love for stereo scopic effect.
I created a crude 3d computer display screen in 1989 using the plastic lenticular array from a childs toy and my CRT.
It was low resolution but managed to get a moving image that had 6 views so that i could move my head to the left and right to get different angles on the image. All without any glasses or crossing eyes. just looking normally at it.
I also designed (on paper) a globe consisting of tiny glass spheres representing pixels and each pixel had some 100 fiber optic threads connected to it such that the globe produced a 3d image that could be viewed from any angle.

Need help with a light effect

Hi All,
Im working with a scene in AE. Its a wide shot of trees that have hanging lights in them. The scene doesn't move for 10 seconds, and then it pans up to a black sky.
Basically what I want to achieve is an effect where lots of little lights burst of the lights in the trees and then move up (as the video pans up) to create a starry sky effect.
I know this probably wont be easy or a job for a beginner like myself but I wanted to ask here in case anybody knew of any "easy" way to do this. I do have all the Red Giant plug ins and BCC7 I could use. But am not sure if there is one specific plugin I should focus in on, or if there is a effect in AE to do this.
If anybody has any ideas, advice, or can even point me in the right direction id really appreciate it.

Thank You! That Particle Playground example is exactly what Im looking for. Are they any tutorials youre aware of that show you how to set it up? This way I could figure out how to move the "lights"in the light layer to be on the actual light sources. And then I assume I could just put an ajustment layer over it to make them look more like stars correct?

Quick question: need some help with a lens effect filter

Would anyone know the name of this effect... it's almost like a hard pulsating vignette that you'd see in old 70's home films
I wanted keep the video as clean as possible and use a plug-in or method to re-create that effect in post-production....

Having done 8mm film transfers for over 20 years, I can say that I've NEVER seen the frame of the film jump like that vignette does. To me, it makes it look very fake. The rest of the effect looks OK; the image jitter, the light flicker, etc, but the vignette should be stable.

Help with image scrolling effect muse

Hi, I am trying to recreate this effect used on the pencil website (link is below).
I was wondering if this possible with the use of muse scrolling effects in addition with maybe edge animate?
I can create a similar animation and export it either as a movie or a sequence of of PNG's, but I am still unsure as to how it was actually put together.
Is it a movie wich runs at different pay head markers by way of java script or is a slideshow / edge animate placed in a muse file which runs via key point markers in scroll effects menu in muse? The later would be my ideal way of doing it as I am not a coder so don't know too much javascript.
If anyone has any tips as to how to recreate this effect it would be very fuch appreciated.

Help with replacing special characters and how/where to put the javascript...

A while ago I added javascript to some parts of my PDF around the use of dates and phone numbers, I now have Acrobat 11, and I am at a loss of how to add a new javascript (i cant remember at all) the code I have is

Combining CG and DV. Help with the shimmer effect?

Hi all,
We produce a fair amount of computer animation (prediminany for the real estate business... aka lots of buildings with straight lines). The short videos we are putting together often combine DV footage with computer animation. We often move the "camera" in Final Cut across still images of buildings, and a bit of anti-aliasing seems to address the jaggies that come from having tons of lines move on angles.
However, our main problem is with the actual computer animation. When playing back the DVDs on, say, an LCD television, the DV footage looks great but the computer animation looks aliased and crunchy, especially on shots that rotate around a building where there are a ton of converging lines.
My thoughts are this: should I be dealing with this with the field selection? I am assuming my DV footage likes to live in lower-field land, but that my CG is progressive. Can I do something to syncrhonize the two? Could it be that when I create my DVD, and select "Lower" or "Progressive" as the fields that I am killing the quality of one or the other?
I'm not sure if it related, but the DVDs also look like unusable garbage (jagged, crunchy) when I test play them on my computer (23" LCD @ 1920). I know the DVD is scaling to fit the screen, but is there any way to step up the results so they look great on TV and a computer?
Looking for some guidance from the Compressor gods. Lots of queries here, but overall I am just trying to understand if there is a protocol for editing together CG and DV to a DVD so that it looks fantastic.

I set the HDV camera to send via log & capture HDV. It has a feature to send it via HD, but that feature wasn't enabled. It seems like when I checked before it was reading as 1080i. When I last checked it read 720. So not sure, but will recheck later tonight and see what happens with a fresh log & capture session.
I claim utter plebe status... so bear with me...
My take is that I shoot in HDV because the resolution is tighter and better in lower light conditions. If I downconvert, aren't I dumbing down the video that I shot in HDV to "match" the DV?
I thought that it would be interesting, in a disparate sense, to use both the HDV and the DV footage together. The differences are of interest to me in a comparative way.
That said, my interpretation of using DVDSP4 was that with DV, field dominance is set to "lower", and HDV it is set to "higher".
And I was also assuming that DV = 4:3 and HDV = 16:9. Which seemed like another bump in the road...
