Hey you guys I have a question. I have been trying to update my MacBook Pro to OS X Mavericks and I get nothing.

I go into the App store and it says it is downloading but it is not. I have tried for 3 days already and I do not know what to do. My brother got me my computer 4 years ago. When I go under About this Mac it says this: Mac OS X Version 10.7.5 Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3. If anyone can help me I would glady appreciate it.

Evie,
Mavericks is a 5.3 GB download, so it will take a while for a download of that size to complete.

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

I have an '09 MacBook Pro w/ OS X Mavericks and an iPhone 4. I'd like to copy a thread of text, not notes, but text from my phone to my computer. How do I do that?

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.
    What computer do you have?

Have you tried - in Mail go to the menu Mail > Preferences.
When the Preferences Pane opens, click on the Accounts Tab.
Click on your iCloud Account to select it.
    Click on the Advanced tab.
    Set Authentication to Apple Token.
    Close the Preference Pane.

  • I have been trying to update iTunes 11.1.3 to 11.4 and the error message says "an unexpected error occured. iTunes cannot be installed. Anyone can help

I have been trying to update iTunes 11.1.3 (8)  to 11.4 and the error message says "an unexpected error occured. iTunes cannot be installed". Anyone can help?
I have a Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.6.8

If your profile is correct you are using 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.   The latest iTunes version for that OS is 11.3.1    If your profile is wrong and you have 10.9.5 Mavericks, then the iTunes version is 11.4.    You cannot use Mavericks versions on Snow Leopard.

  • I have a question in regards to spyware / keylogger for my MacBook Pro. My employer recently asked for my MacBook to "make sure it running smoothly" I currently have no issues. I haven't yet gave it to them. How can I tell if keylogger/spyware added?

so I havent gave them my MacBook yet but I highly suspect they will be adding keylogger or spyware of some sort. It there a easy way to help me tell if they have added something before i hand it over to them so I can't tell what they have done?

If the computer is owned by your employer, not by you, then you should use it as it's given to you. Use it only for work, not for anything personal. Don't have any expectation of privacy while using it. Don't connect it to your home network. Assume that a keylogger or any other kind of monitoring software is installed.

  • HT1338 I'm trying to attach my MacBook Pro to an overhead projector and can't get it to work. If I go to System Prefs/Displays, I see the box on the screen.  But when I collapse the Prefs the desktop is not seen. Can you help?

I'm trying to get an overhead projector to identify my macbookpro.  If I go to Prefs and select screens that dialogue box comes up on screen.  So I know there's nothing wrong with the VGA cable.  But when the screen box is collapsed nothing happens.  My computer is not recognized by the projector.  Can anyone help?
On a PC I used to hit "control F5.  But I don't believe that works on a MacBook. Any suggestions?

About the only thing you can try is using the Online Internet Recovery system to reinstall Lion on your Mac over the top of the current install. that will reset all system files and should not touch your personal files or the apps you have installed.
Or iof you have a recent Time Machine backup use that to restore your Mac to that point in time.

  • I have been trying to update my ipad 2 to IOS 7 today and it installs it into my ipad but when i click install update it says its verifying it then it pops up saying software update unavailable try again later can i have some help.

And i need help so If theres anyone out there that could give me a little info and help on how to fix it, please do

Um, this makes no sense.  The binary is already on the device, it came directly from Apple so I'm not sure where the hold up is.  I guess it depends on what is exactly "Verifying update ..." is.  I always believed it was about checking to ensure the binary was proper; not sure why it has to call back to Apple servers in that case.
It's super annoying.  Apple really needs to fix this problem.  Especially when one has to leave and needs to take their devices with them...
Last time this happened, all I had to do was connect to iTunes and the issue cleared out immediately and updated.

Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

Hi, i want to buy a licence of Creative Cloud, but i have one question... Whats the best choose for a little enterprise?? And if i buy a Single Person Licence, on how many pc's can i install the suite??
    Thanks for helping

    no, that's incorrect.
you can activate on 1 mac and 1 pc, or 2 pc's, or 2 mac's, concurrently.
i have cc installed on 2 pcs and 1 mac.  i can only activate 2 at any one time which works well for me because my pcs are at home and my office and i use them most of the time.
but when i travel i take my macbook so i just deactivate one or both of my pcs (uninstalling is not needed) and sign in to my macs cc app.

  • Hi there I have a question I have bought a mixing console

Hi there I have a question I have bought a mixing console
    From Yamaha
    It’s the MG 166cx USB
I have connected it to my Mac book pro
And I am getting very little sound coming back from it into the mixing board
I have already messed around with a lot of volumes
And it keeps coming in into the mixing board very low
All I am using to listen to is the head set that is plugged in to the mic jack on the mixing board I think I am going to eliminate this mixing board or something because I am already getting fed up with it any comments?

You might get better answers by posting our question on the MacBook forum as your question seems to have nothing to do with iPods.
You might also see if the manufacturer has a support forum.
    Best of luck.
