I have been trying to update my iTunes to the 11.0.5 btu everytime I try it tells me that my iTunesinstallation.msi cannot be found, verify you have access to it. What should I do?

You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to 10.5.
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was based on Power PC code and was written to be able to run on both Power PC and Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.

When restart dialog box appears, uncheck the box beside

apple Device Support, Apple Auto update, Itunes etc from your pc,
Reboot it
Now download a fresh itunes from apple and try installing
Reboot it
If you are having Problem in uninstalling any of the apple application
try 'revo uninstaller' and uninstall all the apple applications

Do you get any error messages ? If you get a network timeout error when downloading the update then try temporarily turning off all your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed.
It's best to only update via your own computer, otherwise you risk losing all your iPad's contents - updating to iOS 5 wipes the iPad and then restores your backup. If you having problems downloading the update then you could try downloading the update file via a browser on another computer and then copying that file to your laptop for the actual update .

Similar problem here. iTunes11 notified me it was available. However, auto-update failed. So, I downloaded for manual update. That failed with "permission" message. I am administrator on this machine (WIN7). I tried uninstalling old version, but it failed with same permission issue. I now can't start iTunes... throws permission message. We were able to fix our machine! I just could not make sense of the error message, so we were trying non-Microsoft, non-Apple solutions.
Our Solution: Install MalWareBytes, and run a Quick Scan.
Even thought both Microsoft anti-virus and Defender were running on our Windows 8 machine, MalWareBytes found about 100 problems. As I looked over the types of problem and locations, I found several that referenced the exact directory referenced in this message. The machine had to be restarted for MalWareBytes to complete the cleaning, but iTunes installed afterwards with no problems.

When I try and download that version it tells me the software on my computer doesn't suppor that version. I try to update my software and it says there is not software updates available right now. In order to get those to work you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

I was trying to update my ipod to the latest iOS version (5.1) but I got a notification that the update had failed. It was still functioning normally until a while later when it stopped working and all that is displayed on the screen is the itunes logo

and a USB. I tried resetting it severally by pressing the sleep & home button but that didn't help. I also uninstalled all my itunes related programs and reinstalled them but I'm still yet to fix the problem. Whenever I connect the ipod to my computer, windows seems to pick up on new hardware having been connected but you can't view the files on the ipod through itunes or my computer. The computer acknowledges that something has been connected but for some reason the ipod ain't being recognised.
ps- All I want to do is solve this problem so I don't mind losing all the files I had on the ipod as it wasn't much anyway.
