Hi, i am a bit of a newbie at AS & need some help applying it to a movie clip button

I have created a movie clip button but am stuck with the actionscript. I have created the rollover and rollout for this movie clip button but i want it to do 2 things after this i want it to go and stop on the first frame of a movieclip which has my content on it called portfoliogallery_mc (which is also the same instance name for it) when you then click the button i want it to go and play frame 11 of that movie clip portfolio gallery_mc.
Here is my current actionscript i HAVE Flash 8 on my comp that i am currently using.
Please note my actions are on a layer called actions and not on the movieclip button itself.
nxtimagetwo_mc (is the movie clip button/instance of mc)

currently it is playing to frame 11 not stopping at frame 1 and stops on frame 20 where i have a stop action. I also have a stop action on frame 1 of that movie clip.
What I want it to do is first stop at frame 1 of that movie clip and when the button is clicked again to go and play frame 11 of that same movie clip.
Basically what i want the mc button to do is 2 things automatically stop the mc for the first content and when button is clicked let the content fad out and play to where the next stop action is set to in the Movie Clip.

it doens't make sense to execute:

only the 2nd line of code will be effected.
i know you want to control 2 movieclips. what are the instance names of the two movieclips and what do you want to occur in each of those movieclips.
or, do you want to control 1 movieclip and have it play a certain sequence of frames followed by another sequence of frames?

Hi Jon,
The "correct" name for an iTunes Library file is iTunes Library.itl. Nearly all updates to iTunes involve some upgrade the library file. The pre-upgrade file is moved into the Previous iTunes Libraries folder, stamped with the date of the upgrade, and then used to construct a new library incorporating any changes that have been made to the data structure for the new build. Should this upgrade go wrong you can usually copy the archived file back into the main iTunes folder, give it the correct name, start iTunes and iTunes will do the upgrade over again. Like this...
Sometimes when iTunes isn't shut down properly the active library file gets corrupted. If you start iTunes in this state you may be prompted to locate a valid library file. It looks like you have connected to a much older library file at some point. What is less clear is if this is a recent event or an older one.
I suggest you search the entire computer for all files of the form *.itl. Ideally we need to find the most recently modified one that isn't corrupt, place it in the main iTunes folder, rename it as iTunes Library.itl and connect to it. Having placed a suitable library file in the correct location and renamed it, click the icon to start iTunes and then immediately press and hold down the left shift key. Keep holding until asked to create or choose a library. Click choose and browse to the renamed/relocated library file. If that file won't work close iTunes, and try another in the fashion shown in the diagram until you find one that is satisfactory. No need to use the shift-start-iTunes trick again as this time each new file will be on the same path.
Once you've found the best of the available libraries you can use a tool called iTunes Folder Watch to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created, i.e., add in the new files, or delete the entries for tracks that have been removed from the media folder.
If for some reason the restored library contains broken links to the media I have a script called FindTracks that can repair them.
When you get it all working make a backup!

I am the biggest "Newb" on this site, and I really need some help please..

Ok, the short of it.... I started training on Database programming about 2 weeks ago. I still don't really know a thing, or even understand the concepts. Now, my boss wants me to fix a bug in Oracle, and I haven't a clue. The ONLY help I've gotten was a link to this forum, and a speech about how I need to help myself. I told him I have the same chance of fixing anything, as monkeys typing hamlet. Anyone up for a challenge?
When I go to Application System, then Application Entry and enter the password a dialog box appears.... "FRM-40039: Cannot attatch library Empower while opening from APPUSRAPP."
That's what I have to fix. I have no clue. I don't even really know how to click around in this program. Please help, someone.
UPDATE: I've been told that everyone's pretty much going to be a jerk to me for asking this, and I'm currently searching old threads and can't find a way to delete this one I posted. So, you could just ignore the post, or jump in and be the internet tough-guy and tell me what I already know.... I'm a newb.

Need Some Help ! Newbie Alert !

Ok I am a absolute newbie so please go easy on me if I ask anything too stupid lol...
OK just recently I started shooting in RAW... I have been playing around with how best then to edit/convert those pics... it's a toss up between batch processing them all in Camera Raw (I have version 4.0 at the moment not sure how new that is !) it seems to allow me to make changes to a bunch of pictures at the same time... or if I should really push the boat out and use LightRoom... I have just got a copy of 2.3 but havent played around with it yet... I aint overly technical so not sure if it will be a bit beyond me lol...
The questions I have... when I have tweeked the pics in Camera Raw, and I save as JPG's the colours are not the same in the JPG... they become a lot less vibrant and look washed out... is there any way to stop this ? It did suggest I saved them as DNG's ??? What are DNG's ? Am I suppose to save them as DNG's and then convert into JPG's ?

In CS3, it is under Edit/Color Settings. I don't know the right way to set up color settings. I have mine set to North America general-purpose 2. In the working space I have RGB set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1. I don't worry about the other ones. And in the Color Management Policies I have them all set to Preserve Embedded Profiles. It works for me, BUT I always have to remember to convert to profile before I save my final image. There are others who might disagree with how I have my color management set up in Photoshop. And they might have some better ideas for you. That is just how I set mine up quite some time ago, and I have just gotten used to it.
If you want to export from ACR in sRGB, click on the blue hyperlink near the bottom of the ACR screen and set it up there. Then you wouldn't have to worry about converting the profile later in Photoshop.
Whether or not you use the DNG converter is a personal choice that you will have to make. Many of the Adobe personnel seem to recommend converting to DNG as part of a routine workflow. I haven't adopted that policy for myself.
There is a book entitled, "Real World Camera Raw with Photoshop CSx", where x is the version of CS that you have. The original edition was written by Bruce Fraser, who has since passed away. I am running windows 7 on a 64 bit computer. Itunes will not start unless I restart my computer and then sometimes it doesn't want to start. I need some help.

I am running itunes on a 64 bit computer with Windows 7 installed. The only way I can get itunes to open is to restart my computer. Restarting doesn't always work but that is the only option I have. I can find no problems with my system except this one. All my other programs seem to run and open OK. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am running the latest version of itunes. This issue is on my desktop. I also own an Acer Laptop that is also beginning to act up in the same way.

Have you checked to see whether the App Store appis hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps being set 'on' ?

Newbie report. need some help.

I bit the bullet and installed ArchLinux on a 'clean' laptop. Prior to Arch, I had a dual-boot system running Ubuntu 7.04 and XP. I was planning to install ArchLinux, and run WindowsFLP (I still got apps that only work in Windows) under VirtualBox.
I got around to installing ArchLinux using FTP install - not my original plan. I'm glad to have backed up my data to an external drive because after I repartitioned the whole disk, I got stupid and somehow ruined my installer disc during the process. . I'm glad to have an old puppylinux disc at hand, so I managed to download the software I need to install 64-bit Arch via USB stick.
Right now, I'm not very sure whether to be happy about it or not. I've been on Ubuntu for several years now and it was the only distro that made me stick with Linux 98% of the time. What I liked about Ubuntu is that in most cases, I don't have to bother with most things. They just work. (Or at least, the things I wanted did.)
Now I have Arch installed with XFCE. Unfortunately, I'm beginning to get tired of having to install everything I wanted one package at a time. Though I like the control and the latest program versions I get; but I'm not really an expert so I miss the 'friendliness' of Ubuntu. For example, after I got my DE running (thanks to the great wiki and forum) I have to get a browser (epiphany), and then an office suite (openoffice), next is drawing program (inkscape). I still have lots of packages to work on (Bluetooth, Gramps, VirtualBox, etc, etc.)
I'm kinda irritated that not everything is working smoothly. Flash is not working. I can't get Firefox to run. Some of Epiphany's icons are missing (I only got an image with a red 'X' in its place). check this image:
I haven't decided on whether it's for keeps - it's like a day-old only and still the only OS running on my computer. I'll give Arch a go and compare it with Ubuntu 8.04 when it comes out three weeks from now.

Tried it but it's not working. Got this "error: 'flashplugin': not found in sync db"
As for my Icon problem. Changing the Icon set didn't work out.
As you can see, there are other icons missing. Here's a screen shot of the toolbar editor with highlights on missing icons.

Not been able to found the cab just yet, but i did a little research. Basically i took 10 different postcodes between my house and lincoln exchange, some on small roads and some on main roads. I also used property numbers so it would be a little more accurate. I put all of these addresses into BT's wholesale checker. None of them came back with a message saying that they were due to get fibre? Surely this is a little bit strange. Lincoln is being upgraded and 1/2 of the city won't be getting it?

First a bit of thanks and then need some help

First I want to thank so many people who contributed to resolving Y2P issues such as drivers, battery life, flickering etc. The issues were really killing my enjoyment of a laptop I thought I'd love but was almost ready to take back after just a week of ownership. I was about to buy a Macbook Pro and at the last minute went for the Y2P because I wanted a touch screen for some things and was starting to regret my decision especially when my battery life was so terrible and the cursed screen flickering. But this forum kept me from getting rid of it.
Now I am left with pretty much just one issue, scrolling with the trackpad. Is there any way ti invert the scroll? It is opposite of what I want and am used to. I was able to invert the scrolling on my Surface RT 2 but on the Y2P I seem to be stuck with the stock scroll.
I have searched all over and I can't seem to find a fix for this. It drives me crazy in some apps. I can't find any tweaks in the Synaptics settings. Any registry hacks that might work?
Also has anyone found a good case for the Y2P? I bought a Thule (13" protective sleeve TAS113) one for a Macbook and it is a bit snug but might work.

In a bit of a pickle and I need some guidance...

I'm what you call a "Jack of all trades, Master of none". I've dabled in technology since I was a kid, but have never taken any formal classes or had any training on anything. I learned how to use Photoshop, Fireworks and Dreamweaver on my own over the years. Pretty much one of those trial and error kind of guy, but it has opened up many opportunities for me.
Well, the company I work for recently decided to do some advertising at a local horse race track. One of the ways we'll be advertising our business there is on a 20 ft. tall by 40 ft. long billboard. Knowing that I've done some print advertising for them in the past, they asked me if I could come up with something to have printed to put on the billboard and of course I took on the challenge.
I already have the perfect idea in mind for the billboard and all I need to do is implement it. The only problem I have is that I've never had to make something for that big of print. So my question is, should I be using InDesign CS6 for this, or is this something I should use Photoshop CS6 for?
If someone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciated. The worst part is that I need to have this done ASAP as the racing season starts on Monday.

You will absolutely want to contact the billboard company to find out the technical specifications. After having worked at an outdoor advertising company, I can share a few tips with you.... Scale is a tough question to answer because some companies use a 1 ft = 1 in. scale and others have a different scaling method. Some will provide templates either in PDF format or in all of the programs they work with. Try checking the printer's website, if there's no info, you'll want to get in touch by phone - which is usually a good idea the first time you work with a printer anyway.
Most companies will accept all the major file types: PDF, EPS & JPG included, but you want to make sure before you get too far into the project. Sounds like you have an idea in mind, so what I really wanted to mention to you was that billboards are unique design-wise. You'll want to keep in mind that you only have about five seconds to get your message across and it needs to very legible. If the sign is lit, then you want to make sure to use a color combo that will work well both day and night, and in different lighting conditions in between. Certain color combinations work better than others as do some fonts. As Peter mentioned, billboards are sometimes produced in panels. You will want to know whether the billboard you are designing for is going to be produced in panels or in one vinyl sheet. Back at the company I worked for (keep in mind this was quite a few years back), the cost of the billboard was affected by how many colors were used in each panel of the billboard, so this may be a good question to check on as well.
For some good tips on design and to get an idea of the types of specifications you'll be dealing with (but again, be sure to ask YOUR printer for their specs), take a look at these two links from Lamar Graphics. I don't have any connection with the company, but they are all over the U.S. so they are a good starting reference point.

Spry Newbie needs some help

It is the little things in life I was always told and all I
am trying to do is to pretty much duplicate the form validation
demo. However I am not even sure where to begin. I have created
many forms and have had them submit and returned in an emial
successfully but I am not quite sure how the Spry widgets work or
how to apply them to an existing form or even a new one for that
matter.
Does the page have to be dynamic in order to use the Spry
validation widget? Hopefully iy can be used on a static page. Are
there any tutorials out there for creating a form in DW CS3 using
the Spry validation widget?

Hi,
First of all, the Spry widgets works on static pages, so you
don't necessary need to have a dynamic page.
It is not to hard to make the demo from site, and I'll
explain you the basic steps you should do to have these widgets
working on your page. The css part, you can customize as you wish,
the demo from site is just a customization.
As I saw, you use Dreamweaver for creating this demo, so I'll
give you the explanations for how to do it on DW.
In a html page, add a form. Inside form add: a Spry Textfiled
validation input (from the Spry tag), a Spry Select input and a
Spry Textarea input.
If you go in design view and select an widget, a blue border
will appear and on the Property Inspector will appear all the
properties you need to customize.
To see exactly what does every property, please check the
Dreamweaver help.
This is the start to create you own form containing Spry
widgets.

You can do that. Go to a domain name provider, HostExcellence, GoDaddy, etc. and purchase the domain name you want to use, www.riverfarm.com. Create your site with iWeb and publish to MobileMe.
Next follow the instructions here: Setting up MobileMe to use a personal domain name.
At your domain name provider forward the domain name to web.me.com. Each provider will have an instruction page on how to set it up at their end.
This topic describes what you will see in the browser's URL window with the different types of domain name forwarding: Support Domain Name, what is it all about
NOTE: To get just www.riverfarm.com to show in the URL window you will have to enable domain name masking. That will force visitors to only be able to bookmark the first page of the site. It will also hinder search engines in their finding and ranking your site. Without masking you will see www.riverfarm.com/sitename/pagename. In either case if someone puts in www.riverfarm.com into the browser they will get to your site.

HTML forms don't do anything. You need a form-to-email processing script -- preferably one which conceals your e-mail address from harvesters and has built-in spam prevention.
Contact your web host and ask them if they have a script you can use. Hosts often provide scripts on their servers which you can activate through your Admin Panel or by directly referencing the script in your form's action attribute.
     <form action="path-to-form-on-server/form-to-email-script.php">
If your host doesn't provide scripts, ask them which server-side languages you can use (php, asp, asp.net, perl, coldfusion, etc...) so you can find a suitable script to use.

Newbie question but need some advice!!!

I Have Flash CS3 and am constructing an SWF for a presentation that will be shown on a TV
The presentation is a large video file with audio already edited and finished
Additionally i need a news ticker across the bottom of the screen to disaply scrolling text like news, events etc.
I'm not too familiar with actionscrip but i was thinking about running the video (FLV) into embedded video in the flash file, and then putting the scrolling ticker over this?
I can get any ticker that pulls from an XML and the embedded video i can already do
The only problem is how do i get the SWF to play full screen? what measurements should i use? is there a standard?
It will be running on a windows 7 laptop and hooked up to a 42" LCD TV
Or is there a better way of doing this completely?
Any advice would be greatly appreaciated!

Unfortunately I dont have After Effects and the ticker will be changing every few days so the XML will be a definite need rather than static.
As for the fullscreen issue - I somehow need to get the SWF to play fullscreen on the laptop without browser window bars as this will then be connected to TV and VGA output used
I assume I can just open the SWF in Flash Player and set to full-screen yeah?
I suppose I can mess with stage sizes to fill the screen as much as possible first so englargement is kept to a minimum
