  • Looking for EDW modelling tool recommendations for BW

    Good morning,
Our BW Enterprise Data Warehouse has been slowly adding infocubes/ODS's over the years, and to date we have been relying on the modeling views available in the BW system to keep track of what goes where. I think we've outgrown that.
I was wondering if there is a modeling tool of choice out there that people prefer to use when modeling the various infoproviders, and multicubes that they roll up to. In the relational world we always use ERWin, however it doesn't seem to fit an OLAP EDW environment very well. I'm not looking for an extremely detailed tool, but something that will let us look at the big picture, essentially at the Infoprovider level.
Any suggestions are welcome, and points will be given.
    Michael

    Hi,
I've found the Visio tool quite helpful for EDW modelling for SAP BI systems. Might want to take a look at that.
    Cheers,

    Kiaser,
I thought that I had in the previous post, but here is some more information on it:
The card is a Li've! 5. (referred to as the Li've! Player 5. in some places).
Here is a page that links to all the information about the card you should need:
    http://us.creative.com/support/kb/ar...p?l=2&sid=5805
This should include information and troubleshooting for the card.

  • C9058A-002 Duplexer - Looking for another model of printer to use it on

Now that my OfficeJet J6450 is no longer operational, I was wondering if anyone knows of any other current models of all-in-one type printers that the C9058A-002 Duplexer (that came with the J6450) could be used on. I've tried researching it with no luck since the Duplexer apparently isn't a currently carried HP part number.
    Thanks,

    Hi DeeinFL,
I am sorry to hear your OfficeJet J6450 is no longer operational. I see that you're interested in using the duplexer from your J6450 on a newer HP product, unfortunately there is no product that would be able to use that duplexer but the printer it was made for. With that being said most of HP's printers made today come with a duplexer.
If you go to www.hp.com/shopping and select the Printers tab on the far left hand side you're able to Filter your search. I checked Duplex printing under the Narrow by features option and it brings up 51 printers.
I hope this is helpful, if you have any questions please let me know.

  • When will Adobe Air be available for newer models of Samsung Tablets (Tablet 3 version 4.2.2)?

As a result of this I cannot use any apps or games that need Adobe Air installed on my tablet!  It keeps saying "Package file is invalid".

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Looking for compatible DVD/RW drive for Satellite A30

    Hi!
As the most people who have the A30-303 laptop model with Mat****a UJ-811 ODD the same with me I need to change this drive and I looking for compatible model with this one.
The only one I know is the connection type is atapi and we need the same dimension for the new drive to be compatible with the old one, and if someone knows something else about the compatibility of optical drives that would be very useful for me (and specific for this model)
    Thanks

    Thanks JohnnyS for your reply!
I made a search in some computer shops in Athens, so first I found a NEC 7543A (55 euros) but I found some reading problems with the CDs so I change with LG T10N (65 euros) because until now I never had any problem with this firm, as about mat****a my opinion is after this failure device (UJ-811 I already changed during the warranty period ) it would be not good to take another mat****a.
So if someone with the same model looking for DVD/RW I thing the LG T10N is working fine in this model read write everything and very fast.
    Thanks

  • 2nd hand Mac Pro: what to look for? Want later models

    Hi everyone
I have a 27" iMac tha tis a couple of years old. I have outgrown the 1tb hd, and would prefer to go for a standard desktop design to make adding and changing drives easier. I want to avoid obsolence. I am not looking for a very new model, but one that is a current design. Can anyone give tips on how to determine how recent used Mac Pros i come across are?
Thanks in advance for any tips you can pass on!
    John

    Additional information for completeness:
The 2008 model and previous are Very Different from the 2009 and later. The 2009 and later can accept much more memory and that memory is substantially cheaper. The 2009 and later with the same number and nominal speed of processors approaches twice as fast in benchmarks due to architectural differences
So if you expect to do compute and memory intensive modeling, Photo, Video, or Audio editing, limit your hunt to the 2009 model and later.
If you are doing general work that does not involve large memory sizes, any model Mac Pro will work for you.

  • Looking for a Good White Paper on Oracle Data Modeling

Hopefully this is the proper area in which to ask this questions - been looking around these boards for a while but can't find what I'm looking for. I'd like to get a good modeling overview for topics such as:
-- pros and cons of normalization, e.g., performance considerations when deciding to normalize some data (and incur the cost of joins) vs keeping it denormalized (and having simpler queries)
    -- overall performance considerations
-- warehouse vs mart considerations, esp as they relate to front end tools that will sit on the data mart
A general data modeling white paper or PDF would be very helpful to get me started.
    Thanks all!
    Mike

You don't need a White Paper you need a college course or a book.
The book I have on my shelf, don't know if it is still in print, is CASE*METHOD Entity Relationship Modelling by Richard Barker
    Addison-Wesley Publishing Company
    ISBN 0-201-41696-4
Normalization isn't about pros and cons. For performance denormalize. For data integrity normalize. Most systems end up somewhere between 3N and 4N or with what is referred to as Boyce-Codd NF. Google is your friend here but buy the book or take the course. This is not a subject to be read lightly in a dozen or so pages.

  • Looking for a Suggestion on Protege Notebook Model

    Hi,
I might have posted this in the wrong forum, if that is the case then please accept my apologies for the same.
I am looking to buy a new ultrabook. I am looking for the following specs:
    Price: Around USD800
Screen Size: 13.3" (This is important as there are weight considerations and hence cannot go for any bigger screen)
Screen should be easily tilted to 180 degrees since I have a small kid who could pull the screen back (I hope you people understand what I am asking for, this feature is not listed in any datasheet of Toshiba Notebooks)
    RAM Installed: 4GB (min)
RAM Maximum: 8GB (min) (I should have the option for upgrading the RAM later to 8GB minimum, more the better)
Weight: 3 lbs (or there about)
    DVD-ROM: Not NEEDED
HDD: Would like to have a SSD with 256GB but given the price, I guess I have to settle with the normal HDD. But it would be great if I could upgrade later this HDD to a SSD.
    Keyboard: Backlit and SPILLPROOF
Now I have kind of short listed some of the models and would love to hear the advise of the techies here.
    Model 1:
    Portege R935-ST3N02
    Link for Datasheet: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/portege_R935-ST3N02.pdf
Questions in my mind regarding this notebook:
Will the screen be tilted back to 180 degrees, cannot find this information anywhere.
The maximum RAM shown is 8GB but since this device has 2 memory slots, then wouldn't it be possible to have 16GB as the max RAM with 8GB card in each slot.
HDD = 750GB but later would I be able to upgrade to a SSD Harddisk or not, to reduce the weight even more later.
Keyboard: Is the keyboard SPILLPROOF and Backlit?
    Model 2:
    Portege Z935-ST3N02
    Link for Datasheet: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/portege_Z935-ST3N02.pdf
Max RAM is only 6GB (is there a way to upgrade to 8GB)
SSD: Can I later upgrade to a higher capacity SSD like 512GB if an when they get cheaper, I know it should be possible but wanted to ask anyhow?
    Model 3:
I am comparing these 2 models against THINKPAD X230.
Any suggestions and enlightening thoughts on my above questions would be deeply appreciated.

Please just let me know if the screen can be tilted to 180 degrees in Portege R935-ST3N02

  • Looking for stock 3D models

    Hi everyone:
I don't know much about 3D models so I might be formulating my question incorrectly (for which I apologize). I'm looking for a wireframe (mesh) only 3D models (RPF or RLA files), and I was wondering if they are provided somewhere as basic/stock 3D files?
Here's an example of what I'm looking for (as a 2D screenshot):
    http://www.ivansanchez.com/blog/sentinel/zetaplusa.jpg
    http://www.foro3d.com/tutoriales/blender/blender-art-magazine-3d/blender-art-magazine-11/N urbs-Cad_files/File_048.jpg
I need it for some (semi transparent) effect of a 3D object rotating in the background that will be largely zoomed in so I'm not very picky what that object will be.
    Thank you in advance!

    Den,
If you aren't picky on what it is, as it will be zoomed in quite far -- you can just make another composition of a wireframe globe, or anything with the find edges effect, with others, and then scale it up, make it 3d, render in master composition, and fly around it.
Or proxy to it, render it out with camera in that composition and then drag the rendered footage into the master composition.
This might save you some money on buying a model.

  • Looking for expert who can highlight 3d model node in adobe reader with external program

I need to select and highlight 3d model node in adobe reader with my program.from outside of adobe reader. it seems there is no out-of-box API in stndard SDK. I want to outsource this task fully or partly. If you have the solution or able to provide consultant in this area, please send message to me.

You would indeed need a plug-in to actually select and highlight but you can easily call attention to a part by temporarily changing the color via JavaScript which you can access from external applications.
I can provide more specific advice if you explain the exact user interaction you're looking for. Is this a desktop application? Is the PDF in a browser? etc.

    Hi,
Unfortunately, I was unable to locate a driver for your instrument. I would like you to submit a request for this driver at: http://zone.ni.com/idnet97.nsf/instrumentdriverrequest/ and with the instrument manufacturer. We develop drivers based on demand and popularity so the more requests we have for it, the greater the possibility that we will develop one.
If you would like to try developing your own instrument driver (or modify the existing one), we have documentation, model instrument drivers, and driver templates to help at :
    http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/development.htm
We also have a syndicate of third party vendors that specialize in National Instruments' products and services. Some of the vendors specialize in driver development. I would s

    http://www.ni.com/alliance
An instrument driver is a collection of functions that implement the commands necessary to perform the instruments operations. In short, someone read the instrument user manual and implemented some of the functionality in a program for the end user. Instrument drivers are not necessary to use your instrument. They are merely time savers to help you develop your project so you do not need to study the manual before writing a program.
There are example VI's in LV on Instrument Connectivity. If you go to the Help menu >> Examples.. >> I/O, you will see a couple and Examples.. >> Fundamentals for File and String manipulation. I would suggest tweaking them to suit your application. Also the specific command that your instrument responds to can be found from it's manual.
Some useful resources for your application are
ni.com > NI Developer Zone > Development Library > Instrument Connectivity

/search.ni.com/?col=alldocs&layout=TechResources&ql=a , to search examples and knowledge bases
    Hope this helps!
