Hidden PITCH CONTROL au in GarageBand 10.0.1

I was playing with the au in garageband 10.0.1 and I found something interesting, I opened an au that says "PITCH CONTROL" by accident. I closed it by mistake and I can't find it anywhere. I want to know if somebody knows how to open that audio unit.

Thank you for your reply Léonie but what I found was completely diferent. it doesn't say AUPitch but Pitch Control,
On there in shows all the notes telling me to choose one. Maaaan I couldn't take a picture to show you. I will give you an example, like the AUDynamicsProcessor showing at the bottom, the Pitch control was showing, I was trying to use the AUDelay and it shows that Pitch control instead. I dont know how I did it and I am so frustrated that I can't find it any where

  • Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?

Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?
I haven’t been able to find any.
Since the .m4v file type appears to prevent any video bought or rented from the iTunes Store from being played using any other program the lack of these picture controls - if indeed they are lacking - make it seriously deficient as a video player.

Thanks for the rapid response to my enquiry.
I know that it’s possible to adjust the monitor’s performance via System Preferences but it is rather long-winded and I’d rather not alter the settings for the entire screen (and then have to change them all back once finished) when it’s only the video playback window that needs adjustment.
Since iTunes provides various options using the Equalizer for adjusting sound playback it seems rather odd that they don’t have a similar panel for video.
    Regarding QuickTime.
Apparently earlier versions (such as 7) had picture controls but the current version (10.4) does not.
I assume Apple are phasing out QT whose development seems to have stopped - or rather gone backwards since it now lacks capabilities it once had - and intend in future to treat iTunes as their universal media player which no doubt makes sense from their point of view.
I wasn’t aware of the .m4v file type when I made my first and probably last video purchase via iTunes yesterday and didn’t realise that it would restrict my options for playback so completely.
The experience has really put me off buying any additional video from the iTunes Store.

  • Pitch control in quicktime

Trying to play midi files (accompaniment tracks for guitar practice) and can't get the pitch control to work in A/V control window. Pitch control is grayed out. What am I missing?

I use Pro Tools for audio recording and editing. The midi files are just shortcuts to practice with. When I was on Windows I had a player that would change pitch (key) easily. I'm new to Quicktime and still learning. Should upgrade to Quicktime Pro at some point probably?

  • Does anyone have a pitch control add-on?

My wife is dance teacher and is using an iPod to play all the music during her lessons. As in dance it is very usfull to dance and specially exercise at a specific beat, it would be perfect if she could change the beat of the songs while playing using a pitch control.
Does anyone know of an add-on to do that in the iPod? (I don't what to use an extra tool, e.g. Neumarkt mixer.)
    Thanks for your help! Kuno
    iPod

Thanks for your replay and your time.
But I'm not looking to change the beat outside the iPod. The goal is to have a song in its original beat on the iPod with the possibility to change the beat while the song is playing (like the volume). For a dance teacher that is very usefull if the students exercise new steps the first time: To start you could use a lower beat and after some repetitions you can switch back to the original beat.
(The work around we are using at the moment, is to change the beat on the computer in tool with pitch control and then load 2 or even more versions of a song to the iPod with different beats.)

  • Mp3 or mediaplayer with pitch control?

    Hello
I'm looking for a product which can manage the pitch control. Is it possible with an Ipod or another product.
    Thanks for your answer!

    Thanks for your answer.
I know it is no posible with Archos.
some Irivers series can change the playbackspeed...
As far as i know, only the cowon A2 can manage the pitch control but too expensive to me...

Well I guess I need to answer my own question - do I get points for that?
For $60 I decided to take a chance on the Korg NanoKONTROL2 and I just received it from Amazon. Downloaded/installed the KORG MIDI driver, then the GarageBand plug-in. Everything seems to work as it should with no messing around.
It is somewhat limited, but gives full transport control and volume/pan for 8 tracks along with buttons for Solo, Mute and Record on each track. The pan knobs feel a little wobbly, but not too bad. All things considered, it looks and feels like a decent piece of hardware considering the low cost.
Maybe this will help someone else who is getting tired of using the mouse and keyboard shortcuts to control basic Garageband functions.

  • Audio pitch control

    Hi all,
I am a Flash actionscript programmer. I have come across a
peculiar need in elearning courses I have developed so far.
Some of my users are not able to follow the speed at which
the audio in content pages reads. I have hundreds of pages like
that. I need to reduce the audio speed (pace).
Is there a way to slow down the audio speed (pitch) from the
actionscript or any other way in flash?
Any third party tool also welcome. please help me.
    thanks,
    Krishna,
    India

I'm not sure if flash can do that, but there is a free
program called Audacity, which lets you change the speed of an
audio clip. You can also add periods of silence to space things out
a bit more with Audacity. Inserting silence between sentences might
sound better than changing the overall speed, since that will also
likely change the pitch of the voice.

  • Terrible control lag with Garageband...

Help. I am using GarageBand with a new Macbook Air (i5 Intel, 4 gig ram, Lion) and while tracking, mixing, etc with multiple tracks of loops, samples and actual recordings of guitars/vocals, etc, it can take anywhere from 10 to 60  seconds for a single command to register while playing these tracks. This lag is killing me and makes using Garageband near uselss. Trying to adjusting the volume or pan when there is a 30 second lag to each input from the mouse or tack pad is absolutely infuriating. And that is just for simple tasks. Is my new MacAir that underpowered, or could there be something else going on? I do not run any other applications in the background (firefox, iphoto, calendar, etc). I am using a Focusright Scarlett 212 for input/output. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is highly unlikely that my problem is caused by "add-ons or hardware acceleration," because the ONLY thing that changed from one minute to the next is that I upgraded Firefox. I have all the same add-ons I had with 3.6 (except for 2 that were disabled because they're incompatible)--so why would they be causing a problem with 12.0?
I am doubly angry over this, because while I was on this site posting my question, I was INVOLUNTARILY "upgraded" to 13.0, despite the fact that I had unchecked the automatic upgrade option! And I had thought Mozilla was better than the Evil Empire. Clearly I was just being naive.
    System Restore, here I come.

  • Can I use a midi console to control GarageBand?

    Hi all,
I'll start off by saying I've never been a huge audio guy; just know enough to get by. Basically, I recently was given two consoles; Yamaha AW-4416 & Tascam TM-D1000. Both are slightly old, but new in box. At the moment I'm keeping both since I do school shows and such from time to time. They are really both designed around recording; and both also have midi out. Is there a way to use the midi out to plug into my Mac and use one of them to control GarageBand? I.e use the channel faders to control channels in GarageBand. I also have Adobe Audition.
    Thanks

Is there a way to use the midi out to plug into my Mac and use one of them to control GarageBand? I.e use the channel faders to control channels in GarageBand.
As far as I know, Bob, Garageband automatically assigns midi CC settings, and there is no way to override these assignments.  So while some of the faders and dials might end up controlling various things, there is no way to, for example, ensure that your controller's volume fader is assigned to CC7.

  • HOW DO I CHANGE THE PITCH OF A MP3 TRACK IN GARAGE BAND 10.0.02

HOW DO I CHANGE THE PITCH OF A MP3 TRACK IN GARAGE BAND 10.0.02 , i could do it in old version looking at the you tube video, now the screen looks different cant find how to do it. Can some one put up a video please
    Thanks

    There are three ways:
Use an AuPitch filter on the track
Or turn the audio region into a loop
Enable "Follow Tempo and Pitch" for the track and use the transposition slider (that does not always work reliably)
    To add an AuPitch filter:
Enable the audio Units in the GarageBand Preferences and then open the Smart Controls.
To add the AuPitch filter audio unit, click the Audio Unit button and enlarge the Smart Controls pane by dragging the dividing line to the Track Area upwards.
click the Audio Units Brick and add the AuPitch filter:
Type the pitch change in cents (100 cents per half note step) into the text field below the pitch control.
To create a loop from the audio file:
Select the region in the track and use the command "File: Add region to Loop library".
Set the current key and tempo, name the loop, and save the loop.
Now add it from the loop browser to a new track and delete your old track. The search field in the Loop browser will help you to find the loop quickly.
You will be able to transpose the sample like a regular loo by changing the project key.

  • Garageband: All of a sudden, the QUALITY of my recorded sounds went trashy.

First, I know that most of y'all would recognize this kind of question as one from who isn't familiar about sound effects or pitch control, etc.
But I've been making music for quite a time and have been using those effects very constantly,
so I would have already known the answer if that was the problem.
    The thing is..
I had to hid my mic and audio interface from my aunt's kids who visited at my place.
I was afraid they would touch or break those, so I separated the sets and hid those in my closet.
After they were gone, when I re-setup my recording tools and tried to record a new song, my voice sounded so weird.
It was not something from pitch control or any sound effects that garageband has.
Yes, it sounded like my voice, but it was like the quality was downgraded.
I don't even get how I should explain the sound.
The sound was like my mic would accept my lower tone of my voice only. (I checked the pins on the mic and still wouldn't go back to normal)
I tried re-setting up the whole thing again and again but the result was the same; The sound wouldn't come back to that normal, clear sound.
    Question:
Would this be a problem of Garageband? Perhaps I clicked something random?
Or would it be a problem of my mic which was in the cold closet for about a week? (I use Avantone CK-6)
I need some advice from professionals...
    Thank you.

Are you asking about GarageBand on a Mac or GarageBand on iPad/iPod/iPhone?
If you are asking about GarageBand '11 on your Mac - can you drag the "end-of-song" marker (the little magenta colored triangle) at the top of the time line? Then try to drag it back to the left.
Can you drag the zoom slider below the track heads in the time line?or is that unresponsive too?
If you cannot move the end-of -song marker and not zoom in again, I'd try HangTime's "oddball probs" fix and trash the GarageBand preferences files - see the FAQ:

  • Santur Instrument template and pitch setup for every note

    1) Does anyone know if there is a "Santur" instrument (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santur)
template supplied by Apple or anyone for MainStage?
    2) Assuming there was one, does MainStage support setting up custom "pitch" control for "every note"?
I have a need to tune every note individually.

    Caramby wrote:
I think he means Custom Tuning.
Yep. I think he does too
I realise this is MainStage, but Tunings (Temperaments) are dealt with in the Logic Pro manual (p.948):
    User
+Each semitone can be detuned (moved away) from equal temperament in semitone steps. To do so, just click-drag—vertically—on each semitone box until the desired value is reached.+
The reason alternative tunings are mentioned in the Logic Pro manual (in the "Project Settings" section), and not in the Mainstage manual, is that they only apply to Logic projects. Mainstage does not directly support altered tunings.
The 'Persian Santoor' setting referred to by the previous poster is a Garageband 'Strings' instrument setting. This can be opened in the EXS24, both in Mainstage and Logic.
It may have been possible to alter the tuning of the individual samples within the EXS editor, but in this particular case, the samples are mapped across several semitones. I suspect that your need to alter the tunings may not be possible with this patch (without a lot of work).
Note that, although there is a button on the EXS interface, the EXS Instrument Editor cannot be opened within Mainstage; only in Logic.

  • Garageband not saving audio?

    Hi,
I started a project in garageband, recorded about 4 audio tracks and went to save - the save box was grayed out, in fact i couldn't even quit or close the project. I just got the error sound.
I hid the window and saw that one of the big counter numbers was still up on the desktop and nothing i could do could get rid of it.
Figuring this was the problem i restarted my machine and opened the project. all the audio was gone.
So i trashed the project, started a new one with the same name, recorded more audio and some midi, this time i could save and quit as normal.
Unfortunately when i re-opened the project, my midi data was intact, but the audio tracks were once again missing!
Anyone know what's going on? I'm still new to this program but i'm a seasoned logic pro/pro tools user. can i crack open the project file in any way to retrieve my audio?
    cheers.

what format would the audio be in
The files are in AIFF format, so yes, they can be dropped into a project. One caveat, imported (AIFF, Mp3, etc) files do not respond to tempo or pitch controls
    http://www.thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#changemp3tempo
Permission repair is an excellent idea, if they are somehow wonked (technical term) GB could possibly not be abel to save its files. I've run into this issue across a network.
It is possible to do a re-install of just garageband from the osx disc?
GB is not part of the OS install, you need to have the Software REstore, or iLife disc. From the iLife disc I know you can choose a Custom install, I would expect the same for the Software REstore disc, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

  • Editing patterns in Autoplay for GarageBand on iOS - ?

Can you edit these patterns?  Seems there is midi data being sent to the magic keys from the Auto-play control knobs in GarageBand for iPad - are we really stuck with 4 patterns and that's it?  Someone tell me you can monkey around with this...??

That's all we have for now. With luck the app will evolve. Apple don't read these forums for feature suggestions but if you would like to submit an idea for consideration use the GarageBand for iOS Feedback form.

  • Recordable Volume Change Control Number?

Does any one know the midi control number that Garageband 09 uses to record volume changes on a software instrument track?
I'm not talking about the standard Midi control number 7 for volume - this only controls the left-right fader in the track header and Garageband does not record volume changes to this fader.
There's a value from 1 to 127 that will record volume changes as a part of the track itself. Does anyone know what that number is? Or does anyone have the table for all the control numbers that Garageband uses, or can anyone provide a link to such a table of such control numbers?
    Thanks.
