Hidden status bar

<img src="http://i53.tinypic.com/260pmxg.jpg" border="0" alt="missing status bar">
The status bar went missing after I installed the QuickToolbars (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/quicktoolbars) extension, and hasn't returned after uninstalling the extension. I looked through about:config for clues and found two entries left over after I'd uninstalled it. Removing them didn't help.
I went through each of the following:
checked the View | Status Bar setting; uninstalled the extension; restarted FF; restarted the PC, upgraded FF to 3.6.15; disabled all extensions; looked through about:config; logged in here and asked this question.
The bar is not hidden behind any other desktop item (see the screenshot).
How do I get my status bar back?

Fixed now.
While reading about the localstore.rdf and Safe Mode, I decided to reset the toobars to see what would happen. It restored the staus bar.
I haven't noticed any other effects.

  • Hidden status bar while rotation not work

    Hi, Here is what I am doing:
    I have a view with status bar, nav bar and tool bar. User can tap the view to hidden all three bars. If tap again, all bars come back. All works fine.
    I found that if user hidden all bars, rotate the view to landscape mode, and then tap to bring the bars back, the status bar is overlap with nav bar.
    How can I fix it?
    thanks,
    fm

    You might have to mess with the frame of the nav bar after the rotate. Try something like this (assuming a variable named navBar):
    CGRect frame = navBar.frame;
    frame.origin.x = 20;
    navBar.frame = frame;

  • Hide status bar from start

    I'm having trouble getting the status bar to completely disappear. I have
    application.statusBarHidden = YES;
    as the first line of
    - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application
    But, when I launch in the simulator (haven't tried a phone) the first thing that happens is that the status bar flies up to the top of the screen, followed by my Default.png (with the status bar still showing), and then finally my UIView appears, with no status bar.
    I've seen some reference to UIStatusBarHidden and Info.plist, but for the life of my I can't figure out how to get that to work. I did manage to make a key that is UIStatusBarHidden, and set the value to YES but no change.
    I know there must be a way to do this!

    Am I the only one who seems to have a blank space during the Default.png file loading? I've added the hidden status bar option everywhere yet every time my app launches, there is a blank black space where the status bar should be. Both simulator and the device... is there any way around this? Or do i need to wrtie my own splash screen?
    Thanks in advance!

  • How to disable status bar from creating a dead zone in the simulator

    Is this a known bug in the simulator,where a hidden status bar is still grabbing touches? I constantly get frustrated by the inability to click at the top 20 or so pixels of the screen because that is a dead zone, and even though I have a hidden status bar the status bar is still grabbing touches there. Any way around this? And will this happen in the iPhone version, or is it just the simulator?

    You have a point, if your users are filling the form in with Reader, they won't be able to save the data with the form unless the form has been "Reader Extended" (which enables this functionality in Reader for the particular form)
    If you have Acrobat Pro, you can "extend" the form before you send it to the users.  The following is from the Acrobat Pro help...
    Enable Reader users to save form data
    Ordinarily, Reader users can’t save filled-in copies of forms that they complete. However, you can extend rights to Reader users so they have the ability to do so. These extended rights also include the ability to add comments, use the Typewriter tool, and digitally sign the PDF.
       1. Open a single PDF, or select one or more PDFs in a PDF Portfolio.
       2. Choose Advanced > Extend Features In Adobe Reader.
    These extended privileges are limited to the current PDF. When you create a different PDF form, you must perform this task again if you want to enable Reader users to save their own filled-in copies of that PDF.

  • Status bar hidden on Mac

    My app has a regular window with status bar on. The app remembers the window size and position so when the user launches the app next time, the window will appear where it was. However, if the window was maximized last time, the newly launched window will be maximized but the status bar is  hidden.
    This happens under mac os x. The app can be found http://www.peaya.com/paper/download.html

    I just want to leave this picture here, showing how annoying the status bar is since the last update.
    i made this picture on my ipad mini playing the iphone game Zenonia the status bar hides half of the map (upper left corner) and the backpack button (upper right corner) making it impossible to play the game because that button is really important.
    i hope that this gets fixed someday.

  • My blue task/status bar at the bottom of the page is no longer visible. How do I turn that back on? The status bar feature under view does display it.

    For some reason the blue status/task bar that would normally display at the bottom of the webpage (shows time, etc.) is no longer visible. I do not know how it got turned off and going to view-status bar simply enables a gray bar to display that says "done". I have searched using terms like "display task bar", etc and nothing comes up but view- status bar.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == May 5th

    That is the Windows Taskbar and not part of Firefox.
    The Firefox Status Bar shows messages like Looking up and Waiting for and loading and Done.
    If you do not see that Taskbar with Firefox closed then you may have hidden it.
    Try to move the mouse at the bottom and see if you can pull it up with the left mouse button pressed.
    If the Taskbar disappear if you open Firefox the check the Properties of the Taskbar to make sure that it is always visible.

  • Status bar prerequisite - will not pass v28 until returned

    So, updated to 29 on both my Win7 & XP machines before I realized the problem:
    Mozilla is heck bent on hiding stuff from me.
    Read another (now closed) discussion of the loss of the status bar. I think this is the first time they pronounced the status bar dead. Tried the view-toolbars-addon and it's not there anymore.
    So, went back to 28 and will stay there until the status bar is returned or it becomes so obsolete that I'll have to return to IE.
    On my Win7Ult machine, it was easy - just the last restore point before I installed 29 and there it was. Doesn't wotk on XP, but luckily there's an FTP site that has copies of every version you can think of. I chose the last eng-us.28 and installed it over 29. I was surprised that the installation didn't notice and balk at it. also surprised it didn't crash and burn, but I'm writing this on that now and all seems OK.
    So, you are asking "where's the question?"
    It's this: the status bar is the darling of an overwhelming majority of Windows programs. I think this is like the third time they stole my status bar. Stealing the status bar is proof positive that Mozilla hates its users - by moving everything that used to be on the status bar to varied and sundry places, they have effectively chosen to hide things from their users and I find this inexcusably beyond the pale. For instance, they say it moved "add ons" to it's own 'addon' toolbar, which is NOT on by default. You see, they hid it. MY QUESTION IS - HOW TO GET MOZILLA TO STOP DOING THIS REPREHENSIBLE THING and return my browser to the way I like it. As I said in the subject "status bar is a requirement for my continued support". don't write back that I have to accept it or lump it. I'm on 'strike28' until the status bar is returned. If it is not, then I'll be going WHERE EVERY OTHER BROWSER VALUES THE STATUS BAR LIKE I DO". As a side note, several months ago Thunderbird did a really odd security update that destroyed my ability to send Email. I'm now a happy web mail user and nobody is trying to destroy my ability to use their product. If they had a mandate of 'intuitive changes', it would be different, but hiding things you are used to seeing in a place the WHOLE INDUSTRY is in agreement, this is the death knell to my interest, if not the product itself. If a large enough uproar cannot be generated, then it's probably not my kind of product anyway.CIAO.pcGnome

    So, for those interested, I'm still using v28 and things are working well still. But in all this time, a couple of simple, yet salient points have arisen (arose?) in my head. 1) Mozilla keeps trying to get rid of the status bar and folks of my ilk get all agitated and it dawns on me - have they ever said WHY they want to get rid of the status bar? Do they not like me having a tall enough area at the bottom to click on to bring the window to the front? Do they object to me knowing the status of what's going on?.............The upshot of this and the failure to get FlashPlayer right is that I'm using a browser less and less these days. I use it for web mail, ebay & nzbclub and the occasional google search. But search engines don't seem to work at all well anymore, so I'm gonna quit that soon. Try a google search for a phrase and then open a result and I give it about a 68% chance the phrase isn't even on the page, not even if you go back and find the well hidden 'cache' option (pronounced "cash"!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,My second point is probably going to sound laughable, but think a bit and it IS quite serious. Namely, when is firefox going to be finished? I mean, more than a decade ago they finished Media Player Classic and you cannot believe how wonderful it is that something just works! The problem with this "forever development" (aside from doing idiot things like 'let us get rid of the status bar') is that things are seriously backsliding. Used to be a product would be in beta and then a few tweaks and then it was finished. Yes, there were later versions (I have NO interest in MPC home theater - ruins the good stuff and gives me nothing). It's like "since we'll never finish this project, we can slide all the way back to pre-beta (alpha?) and have everyone disturbed by what are they going to change next, just to keep some jobs. Ruin the experience and ruin the reputation and then I see no reason to come to your sandbox anymore. Someday I'll have to relate the arrogance of Forte` Agent that screwed them the pooch (it's not OUR problem, it's an issue in all microsoft operating systems!). Anyway, I see the question asked "when are they going to put back the status bar" and there is only this pseudo answer of "they won't because there's an add-on". How about "when will they stop defeating the add-on that defeats their attempt to get rid of the status bar. I mentioned that with the v29 debacle, sure enough there was a new add-on to take care of that. So, how many add-ons does it take to get them to JUST LET ME HAVE THE DAMM STATUS BAR, OK? pcG

  • I had an addon that displayed RSS ticker in status bar. Now status bar is gone, how to I get an rss ticker?

    I had an addon that used the status bar to display information (RSS ticker). Now I upgraded firefox, status bar is gone and my addon doesn't work. I installed the status-4-ever addon that was recommended in one of the firefox pages but it doesn't work with the RSS addon. How do I get a scrolling RSS ticker in my window?

    Hello,
    Sometimes toolbars are missing because they are hidden, you just need to bring them back up. Visit this article to learn how to bring them back: [[Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars]]. You can learn tips and tricks at the same time. Try putting it on your bookmarks toolbar if you are finding you are running out of space.
    You can also get an add-on to restore the Add-on bar:
    *Use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/ Add-on Bar Restored] to bring back the add-on bar. Learn more here: [[What happened to the Add-on Bar?]]

  • Now that the "Status Bar" is gone, is there a way to hide the "status notification" (bottom left corner) when a page loads? This is on Windows & FF5/6

    The so called "Status Bar" has apparently gone away since FF4, I'm now onto 6 I think, on my work machine. But one of the things I liked about the Status Bar was that it could be hidden entirely.
    With no Status Bar, now when a page is loaded in FF, you get a floating "Status Notification" in the bottom left corner for a second or two while the page is loading (this even happens in FullScreen F11, something I never had to deal with when the Status Bar existed).
    What I want to know is, is there a way to turn off this "Status Notification" entirely? A setting somewhere? Something in About:config? I haven't been able to find anything.

    1. Install the addon Status 4 evar, which puts the status text back in the status bar: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
    2. Hide the status bar by right clicking the refresh button and unchecking "Addon bar"

  • I don't have a status bar!

    Somehow Oryte! and Bing got to be my browser and I didn't want that, so I asked Firefox how to get rid of it. Whatever it said to do, I did -- but I lost the Firefox status bar. I just have blank tabs without any place to enter URLs or search, without using my bookmarked Google home page. And there is no "previous/next page arrows", so I can't go back a page -- I have to close the tab, go to Google and start over! I've downloaded Firefox 5.0 setup -- but I'm so not-technical that I don't know whether I must get rid of Firefox 4.0 setup first (how?) before opening or running 5.0 (which do I choose?). JUST HELP ME CLEAR THIS MESS AND INSTALL A WORKING 5.0, PLEASE!

    If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
    Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • Excel 2010 Status Bar Sum

    I recently switched from Excel 2007 to 2010. In 2007 when I highlighted a range of cells that included hidden cells, the SUM in the status bar only displayed the sum of the visible cells - which was very helpful in determining a) whether the range contained
    hidden cells with values, if I didn't already know, and b) the actual sum that a person would calculate if the worksheet were printed (basically a check against the SUM() function).
    The second feature was particularly important in an industry where we print many reports and want them to be accurate so a user can recalculate the true sum of the numbers he or she is looking at.  However, it appears that in 2010 when highlighting
    a range with hidden values, the status bar SUM includes all values, hidden and visible!  This essentially eliminates any check functionality described above.
    My question is: can I change the settings so the status bar SUM only includes the sum of visible cells??
    It would be EXTREMELY annoying to have to enter a SUBTOTAL() function every time to accomplish what I want.  The advantage of simply highlighting is obviously speed.  I'm not interested in formulas because I know they exist - I only want to know
    if I can accomplish the desired result when highlighting cells.  (Fingers crossed.)

    Re:  Summing across hidden columns not treated the same as summing across hidden rows.
    Oh boy,  you have found an oddity; its new to me and probably to many others.
    As a check, I also did sums across and down in XL2003 and the results are the same as in XL2010
    It doesn't make sense to me and probably could be classified as a bug, if it hadn't gone on for so long.
    I suspect MS is spending all of their Office programming time trying to get Office 2013 to install without crashing.
    This issue probably wouldn't garner any attention.

    How can I make the status bar always visible in safari? Even when I go to "View" and then select "show status bar," the status bar still disappears unless my cursor is hovering over it. I want to be able to see the time, battery life etc. while surfing the web in safari!

    i'm running Windows 7.
    when i minimize firefox i would like it to not appear on the Windows 7 status bar but in the "hidden icon" box area.
    is this possible or is this a request for the future?

  • Hotfix4 shows IOS status bar at the top

    After updated to Director 12 with Hotfix4 a week ago, my ipad/iphone apps have a IOS status bar shows up at the top.  Which didn't show in previous hotfix.
    Any one know a way to make this "IOS status bar" (with battery, time, wifi, 3g status symbols) disappear or hidden?

    Hi schnell9,
    I just spent the last hour trying to find a work-a-round for your problem - but no luck
    I can say you are right, it's like the 3d objects have there own locZ channel order - always on top of every other type of graphic or text object except other 3d objects.
    If they were locked into DTS they would move on top of other 3d objects
    it's all very strange
    I tried turning on and off hardware acc. openGL / preferred renderer - but still no luck here!
    A crazy idea - if you need to move bitmap sprites over the top of 3d objects - could you save each bitmap graphic as flat plain 3d object, which you could then move freely over the over 3d objects.
    But they would have to be rectangles.
    Yes to secret apps for the moment - but only for a few months until all the international versions are finished.
    Then I will be happy to show everybody what I've been up too.
    I am very happy with Director
    yes I know there are quite a few issues - but still my results have been very good.
    regards
    milky
