Hide password from exposing on the command line(ps)

Oracle Go to http://www.uaex.edu/srea/ and search hide.c.
I may need another file, os.h, which is #included in hide.c program.
hide.c handles simple program well. but, not XMLImporter/XMLExporter.

Using a PC to promote OAF customizations from test to production is a way to prevent password from exposing to the public. Using C wrapper to call system() still exposes the passord.

    Hi ,
    In 9i, it is rwconverter.exe. Please see Publishing Reports to the Web document available at OTN site.
    <http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/reports/content.html> and to get more info on how to use rwconverter as command-line refer to "Appendix A" (which would provide information about command-line arguments.

  • How to initialize consumer from supplier via the command line ?

    We have a small directory that gets loaded from scratch every night.
    We also setted up replication to a couple of consumers (read only).
    The problem is that since the data is loaded everynight, we get compliants in logs "Replica has a different generation ID than local database"
    I can initialize the consumers via the gui. But how to do it from the command line from the master ? I know that an option is to do a db2ldif and then an ldif2db on the consumer but it's not an option for us.
    I also tried setting the nsds5beginreplicarefresh to start, but that doesn't seem to do a full init.
    There must be a way, as the gui actually does it.
    TIA

    Basically it's very simple. Supposing your replication is already setup and you reload data to your master. If you want the initialization pushed to all the replicas automatically, you can simply setup a flag in all the agreements. This flag is called nsDS5BeginReplicaRefresh.
    Please check the link:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/816-6699-10/confattr.html#18194
    nsDS5BeginReplicaRefresh
    Allows you to initialize a replica. This attribute is absent by default. However, if you add this attribute with a value of start, the server reinitializes the replica and removes the attribute value.
    Property
    Value
    Entry DN
    cn=ReplicationAgreementName,cn=replica,cn="suffixName",
    cn=mapping tree,cn=config
    Valid Range
    stop | start
    Default Value
    N/A
    Syntax
    DirectoryString
    Example
    nsDS5BeginReplicaRefresh: start
    Please note that this value is absent by default and will disappear whenever initialization to replica finished. Next time whenever you want it to happen again, use ldapmodify to set this flag up.
    Also, if you want this happen to all the master's replicas, you have to setup for all the agreements.
    I already tested and it turns out very magic.
    So what you should do is whenver your master get reloaded, when it gets finished, call ldapmodify to set the attribute to be "start".
    Hope it helps!

  • Mounting Network Volumes in the Command line

    What is the command for mounting a Network volume in a command line.... Plus when done this way will it get the password from keychain?

    The command in question is mount:
    <pre class=command>mount -t type server:/path/to/share /path/to/mountpoint</pre>
    This will mount the share /path/to/share from server server using protocol type (e.g. 'afp', 'nfs', 'smb'). The sharepoint will be mounted at the local /path/to/mountpoint
    mount will not use the keychain. If you require passworded access you can either include the username and password in the command, or switch to using an AppleScript solution which can use the keychain, and can be involked via osascript:

  • How to hide the command line arguments from solaris process

    Hi All,
    When I execute a JAR application from a java file using the Runtime.getRuntime, the command line arguments (user ID and Password details) which I passed for executing the application displayed on Solaris process (ps -ef).
    Could anybody please help me, how can I hide either the process or the command line arguments from the Solaris process?
    I cannot pass any asterix or any special character in place of password, because the executing application doesn't have any functionality to retreive the password which send as asterix characters.
    Please help me
    SumodeV

    Thanks for all the response.
    I have created a design and implement the functionality which executes the JAR application in Solaris environment without showing any details in the process details.
    I have used the Java Reflection method, which invokes the JAR application. I am sharing the details here for all those who looking for it.
    1, Inside the Customer application [Jar File is running for it], collect the necessary session details [Using System.get property method]
    2, Create an independent Java file, which should be used to invoke the JAR application
    3, Create the ProcessBuilder object and use a command - execute the Java file [a wrapper code] using normal Java command
    4, Pass the necessary session details to the ProcessBuilder using the environment() function.
    5. Collect the environment values in the independent Java file (Which was invoked by ProcessBuilder) and set details for its environment using System.setProperty.
    6, Use reflection technique to invoke the JAR plugin [which you want to run]. You can use the standard Java functionality to read the MANIFEST file of JAR and load the main class using URLClassLoader.
    7, Invoke the main method of the JAR file, which run the JAR application in Solaris window
    This solution will make sure that the process cannot display any session details in the Solaris Environment.
    Note: Use String[] array while create the command. Otherwise the JAR application cannot pop-up.

  • Error while running the Discoverer report from the command line.

    Hi All,
    I've to run a discoverer report from command line and export the results in xls/html on to my local machine. This report I've to run it as batch and scheduled it.
    I have a parameterized worksheet and this has to be run from command line specifying the parameter value I wanted to run the report for. I do not get any results. Here is the command line I am using.
    dis51usr /connect user/password@database /opendb "TIMS-PCJ status Report" /sheet "TIMS observation status report (based on performed date)" /parameter "Test Number" '40351' /parameter "From Date" '05-MAY-2008' /parameter "To Date" '06-MAY-2008' /export HTML "C:\DISCOVERER_REPORT_SCHEDULING\DIS_OUTPUT\PCJStOutputinHTML123"
    I even added the TO_DATE conversion for the parameters and also gave the format of the date as 'DD_MON_YYYY'.
    Discoverer Desktop opened up, logged in and gets terminated saying 'Oracle Discoverer Desktop has encountered a problem and need to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
    Please anyone reply me.
    Regards & Thanks,
    P. Gayathri Devi

    Hi Gayathri,
    Try changing your parameter names to be a single word. (Change "Test Number" to Test_Number).
    Does the report run fine when run through Desktop for the same parameter values? Which version of Discoverer are you using?
    Thanks.

  • How do I change my password on the command line?

    How does a user change their password on the command line in 10.4? This user is not an admin. I can try "passwd" and it asks for my old password, and then new password. Then it just says "Sorry" and does not change my password.
    Thanks!

    Is the user able to change the password from "System Preferences" > "Accounts" - i.e is the problem specific to the command line? If the user is unable to change their password at all, and the Mini has an Intel processor, they may be affected by the issue described here:

    Other users have posted here indicating that reinstalling the 10.4.8 update using the "combo" updater as suggested in the article has resolved the issue for them...

  • How do i create a database template from the command line?

    Hi,
    As part of implementing a backup and recovery strategy for a client (including disaster recovery) I want to automate the creation of a database template From an Existing Database (Structure as well as data) via a script that will run every night.
    The background to this is that we will also be using RMAN to take backups of the database concerned but the client does not want to wait while an RMAN backup is restored and so wants an additional level of insurance in the form of a ‘standby’ clone database.
    The idea is that nightly we will run a script that creates a database template from the Existing Database (Structure as well as data) and then transfers the 2 files involved e.g. DB_data_included.dbc and DB_data_included.DFB across to a standby server where they can be used to recreate the database in the event of us needing to after e.g. a complete server failure.
    So I have a couple of questions about this that I would be very grateful if something could answer for me:
    1)     Is it possible? That is, can a database template be created from some utility by supplying a series of parameter=value pairs on the command line?
    2)     If yes how do I go about it, what utility do I use (the emca utility?). and what parameters do I need to supply on the command line to create the template?
    3)     The intention is that the script to create the template will run in the early hours of the morning when no-one is using the database but what state does the database need to be in when the template creation script runs i.e. up, down, mounted and does the creation of a template affect the state of an already up database i.e. if I kick off the template creation script and the database is up will it switch it into mount mode or anything like that? My concern here is that I want to make sure I understand exactly what is going on so that no users or connected external systems are affected?
    Thanks in anticipation of someone being able to guide me on what to do or what documentation to read.
    Also if you require any clarification on what i'm asking please post up your query and i'll respond ASAP.
    Kind Regards,

    Sybrandb,
    Firstly thanks for you reponse.
    However, I don’t agree that dbca only creates empty databases otherwise why does the option to create a template from an existing database (structure as well as data) exist in the dbca wizard?
    I have performed a test case where I have a created a database template including data on one 10g server. I have then used the files generated to recreate that database on a separate server. When the new database is started it is an exact copy of the original. So it’s not empty at all , it’s exactly what the client wants.
    So I don’t agree that I’m gaining zero.
    Why is this approach doomed to fail?
    There a number of reasons why I “just set up a proper standby database”
    1.     Time – I’m on a customer site in a tight engagement where the customer wants maximum value for money. I don’t have standby database skills and the customer isn’t willing to pay for me to learn on the job so please understand the tight circumstances I’m working in.
    2.     Availability – As far as I know the client is running 10.2.0.3.0 standard edition. Correct me if I’m wrong but is standby db available in that edition. Where do I look to check V$OPTION.
    On the RMAN duplicating a database front it’s an area I haven’t used before but I will take a look at it.
    Also please revisit the context of my original posting where I state
    The background to this is that we will also be using RMAN to take backups of the database concerned but the client does not want to wait while an RMAN backup is restored and so wants an additional level of insurance in the form of a ‘standby’ clone database.
    So please understand that this a quick fix that the client wants developed in the minimum time possible in ADDITION to a full nightly RMAN backup being taken.
    In an ideal world I’d have the time to follow best practice but in the real world of on-site customer support I just need to get the job done operating under the customer imposed constraints.
    Many Thanks,
    George Johnston

  • Is there a way to switch between workspaces in Spaces from the command line?  I want to write a script to set up certain applications in certain workspaces (without having to do it manually each time)...

    Is there a way to switch between workspaces in Spaces from the comnand line?  I use several workspaces from Spaces, each workspace having a certain number of fixed applications running.  Rather than set all this up each time I log on, I'd like to write a script from the command line (I use gawk) to automate this. Currently I have a gawk script that, given a directory, opens a few xterms whose working directory is the given directory, and opens "preview" applied to a certain file in that directory.  However, at present I have to manually move an xterm through each workspace and run my gawk script in each workspace (applied to each directory that I'm working on).
    There must be a better way...

    Addendum: Can this be done via:   open -a Spaces --args xxx  , where xxx is some set of arguments (or something like this)?

    Hi,
    I have a small non-graphical Java application, packaged into a Jar file. My program relies on classes in another (external) Jar file.

  • Problem with running a java program from the command line

    I have this code:
    package pkg;
    import jxl.*;
    import java.io.File;
    public class TestClass {

                   System.out.println(s);
              }catch (Exception e){System.err.println(e);}
    }I've wrote it in Eclipse, added jxl.jar to the buildpath, and it works fine.
    Then I tried to run it from the command line and I did it like this:
    D:\testWorkspace\testProject\bin> java -cp \jxl.jar pkg.TestClassThe result was:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: pkg/TestClass
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: pkg.TestClass
    ...but the file TestClass.class DOES exist in the folder d:\testWorkspace\testProject\bin\pkg\ and the file jxl.jar IS on the root of drive D (like I already wrote, it worked fine inside the Eclipse).
    So, my question is: How to run this code from the command line?
    I have no idea what went wrong.
    Can someone help me, please?

    The current directory is not implied in the classpath.
    D:\testWorkspace\testProject\bin> java -cp .;d:\ pkg.TestClassor
    D:\testWorkspace\testProject\bin> java -cp .;d:\jxl.jar pkg.TestClassI always forget which is right since I never work with jars...
