Hierarchy selection and restriction

Hello,
I've built a query that in its selection screen the user choose the cost center hierarchy that he wants to see (not the nodes of a specific hierarchy). I dont want the user to get unassigned nodes. Is it possible to restrict the unassigned nodes for all the hierarchies?

I am not very sure whether this will solve this issue but still you can try it out.
In the Query, right click on the characteristic and say restrict.
From the Fixed Values selct the # value and move it to the right.
Now right click on the # value and select Exclude From Selection.

FM to import a hierarchy selection...?

Gurus,
I need to advice the BW team with a FM.I have to write a routine to call a function module that imports a hierarchy selection and uses that selection as a criteria to filter on transactional data from an BW infocube. That data will then be converted to a flat file.
Is there a standard SAP function module we can call to use as a selection criteria for a hierarchy.
Please suggest...Kindly help...

It is not just one hierarchy...there are number of hierarchy sets that have to be read and included in the selection criteria for the infocube...I will try an explain more....In infocube we can use filter to filter the data...now in that filter there is an option of an routine...I have to write that routine that reads the corresponding hierarchy set and include it in the selection criteria...
Example: Profit center will have a routine that will read the profit center hierarchy set amd include it in the range of the selction criteria...
am i able to explain...I have no knowledge in BW so its hard for me to explain....
How can i read the sets...IS there a FM that i can use...please guide me....

Changing logical database DDF select order, and restricting the selection

HI all,
I am using logical database DDF for a report. I would like to do two things:
1) Change the sort order of records so that when my GET statements are processing, they are bringing the data back in sorted by a field of my choice (such as KNA1-REGIO, or KNB1-BUSAB).
2) I would like to add KNA1-REGIO and KNB1-BUSAB as fields for selection during the LDB's initial selection, instead of filtering out records during the GET statements.
FYI, I did find the field DD_BUSAB in the LDB selection structure which I can use to restrict KNB1-BUSAB. I am still not sure how to restrict by KNA1-REGIO though.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply Shiba. For that particular problem, the business wants to not have to use the dynamic selection, and just have KNA1-REGIO and KNB1-BUSAB as regular select options. Like I said as well, I did find DD_BUSAB which I can use for KNB1-BUSAB, but KNA1-REGIO is still a problem.
Right now I just use a CHECK statement and filter kna1-regio after the GET kna1 statement.

Issue with Hierarchy selection in Filter area

Hi experts,
We have an issue with BEx query selection.
Structure of Quey
1. Filter Area
=> Characteristic Relations : Restriction condition with hierarchy
2. Rows
=> Display characteristic with hierarchy active
3.Columns
=> Formula with keyfigure using sign reverse of hierarchy (formula variance).
<symptom >
When I use context menu, "Keep filter value", with the displayed hierarchy node,
and drilldown with other characteristics, the result became wrong. Filter value I kept became inactive.
Workaround I found was like belows.
1. Remove sign reverse calculation in Formula.
2. Keep sign reverse calculation and move restriction condition with hierarchy in filter area TO default values.
I wonder this symptom was right technically or bug ocurred after version upgrade or something.

This depends on the logical database that the report is based on. Secondly I have experienced that the report variant overwrites the date selections and therefore it looks like that the dates are not parsed (which I think is your problem).
For e.g. logical PHP and PHPCE both the period and data dates are filled with the data selection from the portal. (check on the report attributes in SE38 which logical DB used) For e.g. PTRVP (travel) no date are passed at all in the call of the report!!
To make sure that the report variant isnu2019t overwriting I normally set the variant for the report to u201CSave field without valuesu201D for the date selection periods and then it isnu2019t filled by the variant.

Constant Selection in Restricted Key Figure

Hi Gurus,
I am using BeX 3.x and in one of the reports, we use a restricted key figure that has the Profit Center Object[restricted to a few Hierarchy Nodes] and a Key Figure.
But there is an option called 'Constant Selection' that is selected in the Profit Center object in this restricted key figure. Can you please tell me what checking the 'Constant Selection' option would achieve?Can you explain using a simple example how it works?

Hi,
The Constant Selection function allows you to mark a selection in the Query Designer as constant. This means that navigation and filtering have no effect on the selection at runtime. This allows you to easily select reference sizes that do not change at runtime.

Difference between hierarchy node and single value

Hi experts,
Can anyone explain me the difference between hierarchy node and single value?
This is my problem:
I have a query that uses a characteristic (0ORGUNIT) with a hierarchy and I execute it without any problem but when I try to set a fliter on this characteristic and I try to find a single value, for example 101, it doesn't appear in the single value list, instead it appears in the hierarchy nodes list in the selection window.
I think I'm confused about both terms because I thought a hierarchy node was always the one who has one or more values as its lower levels like this:
A. 10
    A1. 100
    A2. 101
    A3. 102
         A3.1. 1021
B. 11
I this case I thought , for example, 101 was a single value but not a hierarchy node so I must find it in the single values list in the selection window, however, 102 can be both and must appear in both lists, is it true?

In BW, hierarchy node with more information compare to the single value. for example, it always carries its father node information, which it belongs to. and some time information if it is time-dependent.
So, when you using hierarchy node, it means at least 2 information: value and "position" (who is its father node)
That's the reason why you see the hierarchy tree when choosing the node.
If you want to expand the hierarchy to the certain level, you can setting in the property. Another choice is restrict in the query designer.

There are two ways that should work. When you are in the trash folder, you can swipe on the email in the list - left to right - and a red Delete button should pop up. Or you can select - Edit - at the top of the list of messages and then select the message and tap delete.
Not sure exactly how this works - but if you have restrictions enabled - especially since you let your grandchild use the device - that may be restricting what you can do in the mail app. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions. If you have it set to on - turn it off or see if you have mail restricted.

Hierarchy selection tab missing in infopackage

Hi Experts,
i am looking how to load multiple hierarchies to Bi so inorder to know available hierarchies from OLTP in hierarchy selection tab in infopackage which was not available at all. i had only data selection tab.i am using version Bi 7.0
how can i found hierarchy selection tab in infopackage

Hierarchy loading is the same for info object which is created under the info object itself.
loading is uploading the data to the hierarchy, creating hierarchy is you will be maintaing the structure of the hierarchy under that info object
Are you sure you have Hierarchy maintained for your info object?
If the hierarchies are maintained you will find the Bell type symbol under the info objects in info providers tab.
As told by mti - drill down till you find the data source --right click on it and select create info package - here you can find the tab hierarchy selection tab (which is the second tab in that screen).

Infopackage hierarchy selection from OLTP is not saved when transported

I have created an infopackage in Development that is pulling an available hierarchy. I then transported Infopackage to QA, but the Hierarchy, although is available from OLTP, is not selected in InfoPackage. I created a copy of InfoPackage in the QA system and selected available hierarchy. It allows me to select hierarchy, save and execute. The issue I have is I need to transport the InfoPackage, created in DEV to all QA and Production systems. The InfoPackage is not retaining available hierarchy when being transported.

Usually infopackage will not be transported but created in QA and production systems. If the infopackage is transported to QA, the pushbutton in infopackage Hierarchies in OLTP will bring the hiearachies available in the QA R/3 system. Appropiate hierachy can be selected and the same infopackage can be saved.

List of Calculated KFs and Restricted KFs created by end users

Hi all,
Is there one way that I can run a list of all Calcuated KFs and Restricted KFs created by end users in Production. We would like to DELETE all CKFs and RKFs created by end users that are not following the naming convention. So we are looking for a tool to list all CKFs and RKFs created by end users. Can you help?

Table RSZELTDIR will give you the CKF and RKF but will not tell who has created. The user entry you will find in table RSZCOMPDIR.
So first go to second table display result by restricting to user name for which you want to delete the CKF and RKF. Select all the component ID and Put in first table and restrict the selection to CKF and RKF .

Hi Kevin,
1. Well by default all the KF that you include in your query go into a Key Figure Structure. You can additionally have another structure for defining how your chars are laid out. A common example is a Calmonth structure where you have selections for 12 months, quarers and YTD values. This would be a char structure with different selections (for each month, qtr etc)
2. Yes, a selection with a KF is the same as restricting a KF. You can use am RKF is you have one on the left hand side, or if you need to do this locally in the query, right click the structure and choose New Selection, then proceed to choose your KF and reqd char values.

How-to Dynamic Hierarchy Selection.

does anyone know how to implement "Dynamic Hierarchy Selection"? I have a main hierarchy but would like to filter it further while loading the hierarchy.
E.g. I have a financial statement verison with both Balance Sheet and P/L items, i would like to separate the main into two new hierarchies, one BS and P/L hierarchies instead, apparently the infopackage allows you to write small codes to dynamically select which hierarhcy you want.

We donot have this type selection at the time of upload. The thing we can do is upload both versions into BIW and in the report we can use Hierarchy variable to have dynamic selection of hierarchy.

CostCenter Hierarchy selection in the Infopackage

Hi Everyone,
For CostCenter hierarchy, in the Infopackage Hierarchy Selection tab, I can able to find the Parent Node for loading, but there is no Child node available.
Can anyone help on how to bring the child node into the Hierarchy selection tab, and also how to check the Hierarchy node in ECC side.

Hi,
You can enter multiple single valus for any field in the infopackage. Just select the row for material type and then click on the insert duplicate button ( + sign ) which is at the bottom letf hand side in the 'Data Selection' tab within the infopackage. You will usually find this 'insert duplicate' icon next to the 'Check' push button.
You can insert as many rows as you want for material type by select the material type rown and clicking on this icon. You can then enter the three values in the three rows for material type.

Hierarchy upload-InfoPackage-Hierarchy Selection tab

I have to upload hierarchy for Internal Order. I have InforPackage but on the Hierarchy Selection tab there is no hierarchy that I am supposed to upload (it's called A1). Do I have to extract the missing hierarchy from R/3? Can someone please provide the steps that should be taken?
It's very urgent as I have to finish it today (well, the deadline is the end of this weekend).

Is ur infosource is properly assigned to the Hierarchy Data source or not!!!!
If not then u need to check the proper data source(From R3) which needs to be used for ur loading.... based on that..
If the DS is available in R3 then replicate the same and assign to ur Infosource..and maintain the proper TS and TR accordingly with the Idocs transfer method..
once this is done then u can able to see the required hierarchy for ur purpose..
make sure that the Hierarchy is available from ur source system.. then only it will be available in the IP selection tab.

F4 Help in Module pool and restricting the entries

Hi all,
      I was looking how to give F4 help in module pool program and restrict the number of entries on tht event.
Take a example of VBELN, it is having number of entries so for F4 help we first take all the entries for VBAK for VBELN and then use FM 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST' and pass the table.
So how can we restrict number of entries initially 200 and then user can input number of hits.
( How to use Callback subroutin ).

    This is my query, I want to restrict the number of entries fetched by the search help depending on the user input like in standard help.
Like VBELN is having number of records how can we asign a help to field like VBELN( for example ), is there any way to restrict the entries on search help rather than selection all the entries for tht field from database which is not good for performance. Like initially it should fetch 100 or 200 records, then if user want more entries to be fetch he can input the number of entries like in standard help. Any idea on this.
