Highlight matching tags, braces, etc in CS5

The most important feature to me while editing any kind of website code is the ability to quickly see matching tags, names, braces, etc. If I'm not mistaken in Dreamweaver CS4 when you highlighted any "word" in code view, whether it was an html tag or value, css class, javascript variable, etc it would instantly highlight all the instances of the same word throughout the document.
Does CS5 not have this ability? Can you not get it to highlight matching opening { and closing } braces either?
The ability to quickly see usage of certain code in this way without going through the extra step(s) to perform a search is so vital to me. How do you handle situations like these where you want to see everywhere that a code is used or to see which braces line up to each other? As in, is there a tool or view preferences that help with this?
Thanks

function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

No, Dreamweaver has never done that. CS4 or any other version.

DW does not highlight tags but it does offer tools such as balance braces, select parent tag and others in the Coding Toolbar.

  • How do you change Matching Tag Highlights color?

I just updated my Dreamwever CC.
I have my code coloring set to be dark. I don't like too much white as the background when I'm coding...
with the new update, I spotted the new change right away, it's great, I like the idea of highlighting matching tags, but I want to change the color to match my color theme and so I can read my codes. this is what I have...
would someone know how to change the color? thank you.

You can change the color of the tag highlight by
    Go to DW preferences
    Choose Code Coloring
In the bottom you will see tag highlighting enabled with a check mark
Change the color by using the color well below that Tag highlighting preference

  • Auto Highlight Closing Tags

I recently upgraded my Mac and reinstalled the Adobe suite. Since working with Dreamweaver on my new maching I've realised that the code view no longer auto highlights closing tags (eg; divs, lists etc). On my old setup I simply clicked on a tag and it would automatically identify/highlight the close tag.
I'm aware of the process of highlighting parent tags etc manually. But it used to happen auto? There doesn't seem to be any specific option for this in the 'Highlighting' preferences either?
    Any suggestions people?
    Thanks in advance!!!

I don't recall DW ever doing this.  Mine doesn't.   Perhaps you had installed a 3rd party extension that provided this feature?

  • Syntax Highlighting for LESS CSS in Dreamweaver CS5.5

This article describes how to add the .less extension to Dreamweaver so that it views it as CSS and thus performs proper syntax highlighting.
I'm using Dreamweaver CS5.5 and following those steps still doesn't work for me. It works perfectly fine in CS5 and earlier versions but not CS5.5.
Do you have any ideas? I'm modifying the following file as the above link suggests:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5\configuration\DocumentTypes\MMDocumentTypes.xml

Sorry, Al, but I couldn't disagree more.  Where I respect the fact that, as coders, we're rather ingrained with our workflow processes and, at times, hesitant to change, I've found LESS' benefits to be very worthwhile.
No need to apologize. Preprocessing is a topic on which there are differing opinions. You have one. I have one. There are advocates:
    http://blog.urbaninsight.com/2012/04/12/ten-reasons-you-should-be-using-css-preprocessor
There are those who are not sold:
    http://blog.millermedeiros.com/the-problem-with-css-pre-processors/
    http://www.skybondsor.com/blog/css-preprocessors
    There are those mostly sold:
    http://css-tricks.com/musings-on-preprocessing/
There are even those who have been converted (but who might reverse at some later point):
    http://cognition.happycog.com/article/preprocess-this
Heck, even I might be converted someday - or not
Bottom line for me, right now? I know I can write CSS that is better than most, more efficient than most, and easier to follow than most, and a preprocessor would add unwanted complexity. But that's for me. For someone not able to be organized intutively, or for a large - but carefully coordinated - team, a preprocessor could be a positive.
    But not for me.
There are evolving trends - popular aspects of the technology that may and should find themselves being adapted into CSS. But I've been around this business as long as CSS has. I've seen buzzwords and trends and I've historically been spot-on in predicting the one that will stick. I think preprocessing will stick - but only insofar as it will be a catalyst for features in future versions of CSS. As a separate technology it makes no sense - to me

  • Has Adobe given you the option to enlarge the font for Tags, dates, etc. in PSE 11?

Has Adobe given you the option to enlarge the font in PSE 11 such as tags, dates etc. This was asked befor but not answered

Not sure what your question is about but if you are talking about display fonts for Menus and general user interface in PSE 11 then I would think it is to do with the display configurations in your operating system.  In Windows, you can go to the Control Panel and look for Display properties.  In Windows XP it might look something like this:
Look at he yellow box to change the font size.
    Hope this helps.

  • Weird highlight over tagged folders/files.

    Hey everyone,
Current setup: 2.3GHz Macbook Pro, Mid 2012
    Software  OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
I have these weird highlights on tagged (or previously tagged) files and folders on my Mac, regardless if it's on a desktop or within another folder.
    What the heck?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,

Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar.
Log in holding down the Shift key to disable all login items.
Does this odd highlighting go away?
In System Preferences > General what highlight color is selected?
If you restart does the problem go away?
BTW, my highlight files have rounded corners not boxed corners.

  • How can you see matching tags in code view?

I'm trying to figure out how to do a very basic, common function in DW CS5.5 that's pretty much in every other IDE I've seen.
In NetBeans, for instnace, when you load a program, then click on a DIV tag, the program automatically highlights the end /DIV tag later in the code. This is extremely helpful when trying to find  the extent of a section, especially in complex sites where nesting of DIVs is common.  The function works the opposite way also, where you can highlight the end tag and the system will find the beginning one.
I can use the Coding Toolbar to collapse that section, expand it, and other things, but nowhere do I see a function that will just highlight the beginning and ending tags.
Is this possible in DW? If so, how can I set it up to do that?
    Thanks.

That’s a limitation. No way around it.

  • Highlight matching word in AutoSuggest

I am using AutoSuggestBehavior component to implement type-ahead feature with inputText component. I am wondering if it is possible to highlight the matching letters in the suggested items.
    Here is an example:
Say I have following LOV items:
    Oracle Application Server
    Oracle JDeveloper
    My Oracle Support
Now when I type "Oracle", it should highlight (bold) the text "*Oracle*" within the suggested item. So the suggested items would look like this:
    Oracle Application Server
    Oracle JDeveloper
    My Oracle Support
Is that possible? Is there any custom solution for this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
haven't tried, but in a similar use case for tables, I did parse the return values and added HTML markup to it. For example, you can add <b></b> around the string and see if it renders in bold. I think I used a tag that allowed me to use CSS for the color coding. Give it a try, maybe it works for you

  • Itunes match and rating etc

I am using itunes match on 2 computers. Imac and a windows PC.  I am working on rating all my songs. I am not sure if it is better to do the rating from one itunes or does it matter? It seems like it matters ... ie that some of the stars etc do not transfer.  I am not sure what the protocol is.  Do I make sure all but one itunes is open? or is it better to have them both open?
    Anyone have experience with this?
Any words of advice would be great.

I'm pretty sure the problem is iTunes itself. Here is what I've done so far. I originally had my iTunes library spread across 3 external drives. At close to 3 TB I needed the space so I put Music, Movies, and TV Shows each on their own drive. This was fine until the last two iTunes update and it got worse after the last one. I initially thought that maybe the drives were spinning down at different times and iTunes wasn't able to handle this. This past weekend I consolidated the library back onto one drive. I turned off iTunes Match, deleted the library and when I was done moving everything I let iTunes rebuild the library. Then I turned on iTunes Match.  This finished Sunday evening, and yesterday the Match option across the top started to appear again. When I clicked on it the screen always said it was done, and it would go away. This morning I received the first 4001 error and step one of matching started again. It took about 5 minutes to complete this time. I've checked the Apple system status page to see if iTunes Match was reporting a problem at the time and it never has. I guess I'll wait for iTunes 11.1 and see if that fixes it.

  • How to enable syntax highlighting for jspf files on Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Mac

I ran into an issue where I couldn't get the color coding (color coding style) for java server pages fragments (.jspf) files to show syntax highliting.
I followed the adobe instructions on Changing and adding file extensions recognized by Dreamweaver without any luck.
Here is the solution that worked for me:
    On a Mac:
    1. Edit the /Users/YOUR USER/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/DocumentTypes/MMDocumetTypes.xml
Note: the Adobe instructions tell you to edit /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5/Configuration/DocumentTypes/MMDocumetTypes.xml (Editing this file didn't do anything for me, so you need to change the file above instead)
    Find,
    <documenttype id="JSP" servermodel="JSP" internaltype="Dynamic" winfileextension="jsp,jst" macfileextension="jsp,jst" file="Default.jsp" writebyteordermark="false" mimetype="text/html">
    Replace with,
    <documenttype id="JSP" servermodel="JSP" internaltype="Dynamic" winfileextension="jsp,jst,jspf" macfileextension="jsp,jst,jspf" file="Default.jsp" writebyteordermark="false" mimetype="text/html">
    2. Edit the /Users/YOUR USER/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Extensions.txt
In the All: section on top add the jspf extention right after jsp in my example it looked like this
    HTM,HTML,SHTM,SHTML,HTA,HTC,XHTML,STM,SSI,JS,JSON,AS,ASC,ASR,XML,XSL,XSD,DTD,XSLT,RSS,RDF, LBI,DWT,ASP,ASA,ASPX,ASCX,ASMX,CONFIG,CS,CSS,CFM,CFML,CFC,TLD,TXT,PHP,PHP3,PHP4,PHP5,PHP-D IST,PHTML,JSP,WML,TPL,LASSO,JSF,VB,VBS,VTM,VTML,INC,SQL,JAVA,EDML,MASTER,INFO,INSTALL,THEME,CONFIG,MODU LE,PROFILE,ENGINE,SVG:All
and I added the jspf and it looks like this now,
    HTM,HTML,SHTM,SHTML,HTA,HTC,XHTML,STM,SSI,JS,JSON,AS,ASC,ASR,XML,XSL,XSD,DTD,XSLT,RSS,RDF, LBI,DWT,ASP,ASA,ASPX,ASCX,ASMX,CONFIG,CS,CSS,CFM,CFML,CFC,TLD,TXT,PHP,PHP3,PHP4,PHP5,PHP-D IST,PHTML,JSP,JSPF,WML,TPL,LASSO,JSF,VB,VBS,VTM,VTML,INC,SQL,JAVA,EDML,MASTER,INFO,INSTALL,THEME,CONFIG,MODU LE,PROFILE,ENGINE,SVG:All
That's it, Quit Dreamweaver and open it up again. Open the .jspf file and see the color coding (syntax highlighting)
Hope this helps you and seves you time figuring it out. If this helped, do a good thing, next time you figure something out, tell others about it to save their time too, like I did. Enjoy.

From Locating your personal configuration folder in the Dreamweaver FAQ:
In Mac OS X (Lion and Mountain Lion), open Finder and press Shift-Cmd-Go. Type ~/Library/Application Support in the dialog box, and click Go. You should then be able to find the configuration folder.

  • Migrating settings, actions, plug-ins etc. from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud)

    Hi,
I wondered if someone could help me with the transition from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud). I'm on a Mac with Mountain Lion.
I would like to migrate as many settings (i.e. workspaces where relevant), personal Photoshop actions, plug-ins (i.e. Type DNA, FontShop [Photoshop], Scriptographer [Illustrator] and Blurb Template Creator [InDesign]) as possible from CS5 to CS6. What is the easiest and smoothest way to do this?
Some settings, actions and plug-ins might not work with CS6, I don't know. I can't find where my Photoshop actions are archived atm.
Can I import extensions from Adobe Extension Manager CS5 to Adobe Extension Manager CS6?
Should I uninstall all CS5 apps? I'd like to keep InDesign CS5 for backwards compatibility at least.
Does Audition completely replace Soundbooth? What about Flash Catalyst, Device Central and OnLocation?
Edit: I have already installed all the Creative Cloud applications btw. But I haven't uninstalled any CS5 apps yet.
    Thanks,
    Eivind

    Hi Elvind,
I would suggest keeping both CS5 and CS6 versions on the system until you are fully transitioned, longer if you want. When you launch Photoshop CS6 it will ask you if you want to import settings from the prior version. Third party plug-ins may or may not be compatible between versions so you might need to check with the manufacturer to find out. You would most likely need to reinstall any third party plug-ins that integrate into existing Adobe product installations though.
I found this document for Photoshop CS6
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preset-migration-photoshop-cs6.htm l
For the PS actions, I normally open the actions panel, highlight the actions set (folder) I wanted to migrate, from the flyout menu of the panel choose the option to save the set, this creates the .atm file. There is another option for importing actions in the same menu.
I can't speak to migrating in relation to the other products. I would recommend posting in the respective product forums.

  • Regular Expressions - matching a brace

I am a bit of a begginner when it comes to regular expressions - but I am trying to replace all curly braces - {} in a string with normal brackets - ().
