Highlight text using conditional text

Hi,
     I need to highlight text using conditional text in InDesign.  I can highlight text using the below code.
var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
colorToHighlig = myDoc.conditions.add ({name:"Yellow",indicatorMethod:ConditionIndicatorMethod.USE_HIGHLIGHT, indicatorColor:UIColors.YELLOW});
app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = null;
app.changeGrepPreferences.appliedConditions = [colorToHighlig] ;
app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "chapter";
myDoc.changeGrep();
But I need to set Indicator to "Show and Print" coz while generation pdf with indicator mode "show", highlights are missing in PDF.  I can retain those highlights with the indicator mode "Show and Print". Dono how to set it..
If anyone know, pls help me.
Thanks in advance,
Sudha K

Hi,
it seems, that this one is not a property of the condition, it is a preference:
myDoc.conditionalTextPreferences.showConditionIndicators = ConditionIndicatorMode.SHOW_AND_PRINT_INDICATORS;

  • Can't edit text using "Add text" tool

    Hello, I click "Add Text" in "Content Editing" and add some text into a PDF document. Then, I save the pdf. Then, I re-open the document and I can't edit the same text using the same "Add Text" tool OR delete that piece of text.

    by the way, when you said

    What you are doing is adding comments, in the Acrobat sense, rather than text (which is part of the original page). Comments are separate. So try the commenting tools.
    did you mean something like this: http://www.nitropdf.com/pdf/EN/Nitro_Pro_8_User_Guide.pdf under "Annotation layer and content layer" pages 251-252. Also, when I added text using "Add Text" did it go into content layer so that I was unable to edit it after saving using acrobat ?

  • Highlighting results using oracle text

    Hi
    I've hooked up to Oracle text using odp.net and can query that fine. Now I would like to use the highlighting feature of OT but I'm having problems finding suitable examples of how to do it.
    I've read through a number of Oracle Text documents, they say use CTX_DOC package to hightlight the result but that's PL/SQL. How can I do it with odp.net ?
    thanks

    Ok thanks for that - I've done that and its cleared the error but I'm still finding more problems
    i've tweaked my code some more as the one and currently have this
              setType();
              OracleConnection oConn= dbConnect();
              //setType();
              oConn.Open();
              OracleCommand oCmd = new OracleCommand();
              oCmd.CommandText = "ctx_doc.Highlight";
              oCmd.Connection = oConn;
              oCmd.CommandType=CommandType.StoredProcedure;
              //params
    OracleParameter oparam2 = oCmd.Parameters.Add("index_name", OracleDbType.Varchar2);
    oparam2.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
    oparam2.Value = "description_idx";
         OracleParameter oparam3 = oCmd.Parameters.Add("textkey", OracleDbType.Varchar2);
    oparam3.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
    oparam3.Value = "ID";
         OracleParameter oparam4 = oCmd.Parameters.Add("text_query", OracleDbType.Varchar2);
    oparam4.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
    oparam4.Value = "test || hello";
    OracleParameter oparam = oCmd.Parameters.Add("restab", OracleDbType.Varchar2);
         oparam.Value = "ctx_hitab";
    oparam.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
         OracleParameter oparam5 = oCmd.Parameters.Add("plaintext", OracleDbType.Int32);
    oparam5.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
    oparam5.Value = false;
              OracleDataAdapter da = new OracleDataAdapter(oCmd);
              DataSet ds = new DataSet();
              da.Fill(ds,"TEST");
              //oCmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
              oConn.Close();
    and it's producing this error which obviously relates to parameter 3 but I'm not sure how I can correct it.

  • Blurry text using Bitmap text (pixelfont) alternative

    I've placed a bitmap text (no anti-alias) inside a movieclip
    and it looks crisp and clean when exported to swf.
    Now I have dragged a copy of that movieclip on stage
    and it becomes blurry/fuzzy as soon as I export it to swf
    (the original is still clean/crisp)
    Why is this happening and how do I solve the problem?
    Thx for listening/AquaStealth

    Do you use a pixelfont? Whats the font name? If you use
    pixelfont it needs
    to be placed at exact X-Y position (non-comma value)

  • Text using transparent text box is degrading

    After inserting a scolling swf, we're finding that any
    animated text or text in a transparent text box in following slides
    is distorted. If we put in a text box (i.e. Cosmos), the text will
    appear correctly. Also, if we format text in the transparent box
    with a bullet point or number, it appears correctly. Has anyone
    else had this issue and been able to resolve?

    We're either capturing a webpage and saving as an swf which
    allows the agent to scroll in the captivate slide, just like in
    real life, or we create a page in Flash 8 that will allow the agent
    to scroll down the page to simulate a real life situation. We use
    SnagIt to capture our scrolling webpages. It doesn't make a
    difference how we do it, if it scrolls, we get the distortion. I
    spent about 2 hours with Adobe yesterday trying to resolve
    it.

  • Is there a tutorial/primer for working with conditional text and page numbering in book folders?

    I'm ramping up on FrameMaker 9 and have been experimenting with using folders in book files. I like being able to add Frame files to the folder to organize content. But I also need to use conditional tags. In one version of my book, the entire contents of some files in one folder are hidden using conditional text. I can't figure out how to set the numbering for each file so that the page numbers adjust appropriately in this scenario. Or is it even possible to do this?
    Can anyone recommend an advanced tutorial for using folders in Frame 9?

    Michelle,
    It would be easier to maintain if you create a different book file that omits the entire "conditionalized" set of files.
    See these Adobe TechComm blogs for some more background info on using hierarchical books and numbering behaviour:

  • Frame 8 crashes when showing all conditional text

    When I try to Show ALL conditions in my Frame 8 file, Frame crashes. I just recently installed CS4 on my system, but other than that, nothing has changed. I have had no problems with conditional text and this file before. Wondering if anyone has had this issue and knows a workaround or fix. Thanks, sandra

    Good, then you're all patched up, that's great.
    I don't use conditional text at all, but several folks around here do and will be along to offer some help.
    Can you identify whether this crash is a result of adding a new condition recently? Had showing all conditions had previously worked?

  • Conditional text to Acrobat

    Dear,
    For our educational works (typesetting) we use conditional text for adding the solutions.
    At the end of the job we have to make 1 pdf with solutions and 1 without solutions.
    We don't use normal layers in Indesign because you have the problem that you can't anchor layers. So when there are a lot of corrections you always have to move your layers also, that's too much work.
    The big advantage of normal layers is that, when you make a pdf, acrobat takes that layers into the pdf.
    So then we can choose with the layer option of Acrobat that we want to view the answers or not (same like in Indesign).
    When we work with conditional text we don't find any option in Acrobat where I can switch off the conditional text.
    I'm afraid Acrobat 'flattens' the indesignfile...
    So my worry is that we now have to make a script for putting conditional text as a layer in Indesign at the end of the job and then make an e-pdf.
    Or is there a way in Acrobat I can see the 'layers' of conditional text like I see them in Indesign?
    Thanks in advance!

    I don't think you can do this in Acrobat, but you should be asking this in the Acrobat forums. Here's a link:

  • Sections and conditional text

    Hello.
    I work with technical documents that are translated into 5 languages. This documents have 16 main sections. I would like to put, in the footpage of any page, the name of the section. I know that I can enclose this 16 sections with the Numbering and sections options, but just in one language. I would like to put in the section marker name some conditional text (1 label per language): Introduccíón (spanish) Introduction (english) and so on. Is it possible?
    Another easy way to do it? I wouldn't like that the translators have to translate every section marker in every document. I want to make it automatic.
    Another option is create 16 master pages (one per section) and put on it conditional text, but I don't want 16 master pages.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry but I can't explain it as clear as I would because english is not my mother tongue.
    Yes, this sections have a title. For example, the point 1 is "Introducción" and I want that, in the footpage of the Introducción pages, put "Introducción" atutomatically. With the point 2, 3, 4, and so on, the same. Then, when I send it to our translators, they generate a new document in the target language based on the original. It would be nice if they translate those titles (Introduction, etc) automatically the footpage is updated.
    This book documents are divided in 3 .indd files: 1 per front cover and index. 1 per the body of the document. 1 per the back cover. I want this footpage just in the second .indd file.
    I use conditional text for some facts. For example, if you choose the label USA, you will see in the footpage "Instalation manual". If you choose Spain, you will see 'Manual de instalación'. In my first post I was talking about conditional text because I'm used to use it, but I can see other options.
    Thanks.

  • Delete text option when deleting a Conditional Text Style

    I now have a document with my first real Conditional Text items. We have many distributors with different product numbers. I am using Conditional Text for the product numbers. Great. But! what if we lose a distributor? Right now, if I delete a Conditional Text condition, I am asked what condition I would like to replace it with. What I would probably like to do is actually delete all of the text assigned to that condition, not just delete the condition. As it is now, if I delete the condition, I still would have to go back and delete the text relating to that condition. Not too handy.

    JustBob wrote:
    That Find/Replace Format does not seem so obvious to me...
    Find the condition-to-drop
    then Replace with Format empty...That wouldn't just change the format to unconditional? It would actually delete the text?
    Well, only one way to find out. Yes! You are correct. I would never have thought of that. Thank you.
    Now that you mention it, I'm not exactly sure why it seemed obvious to me. The real reason that it works isn't simply that Replace with Format is empty, but rather that both Replace with Format and Change to are empty.
    If you Find what: specific text - say letter "a" - whose Find format: is <conditionname> and Change to: letter "b" with Change format: Empty, "a" changes to "b" and the condition stays the same.
    If you Find what: specific text - say letter "a" - whose Find format is <conditionname> and Change to: is empty with Change format: <differentconditionname>, or different text color, or <characterstylename>, letter "a" remains the same, and the condition, text color, or character style, is applied.
    It takes a while to get used to.

  • Data merge with conditional text

    I'm new to InDesign scripting. Very new, in fact. I'm willing to learn, but my main motivation at present is to solve a particular issue. Surely this issue has come up before. I'd love to know if anybody has encountered it or if it is possible to accomplish through scripting.
    I want to merge data onto a gift pledge card. The exact text on the gift card will depend on the data being imported. For example, somebody who has given in the past will receive a message such as, "Thank you for your gift of $xxx." However, a person who has NOT given into the past will receive the message, "Please consider giving this year." The condition is the field prior_gift. If it's above 0, then the first message is displayed.
    This seems like a natural use for scripting, but, in my searches so far, I've found no references to using conditional text and data merges together in scripting. So, would this be a relatively simple task to accomplish?
    Thanks for any help you can give!

    the data merge feature with indesign only brings in text which was in the original data file itself - it doesn't know how to parse or interpret it to behave differently upon seeing certain results. that is, it doesn't run database queries such as if-else statements - it will only import text which was originally in the data file.
    however, there are plug-ins to indesign that CAN do this but they cost BOATLOADS. are you printing this yourself or are you sending this to a commercial printer? if the latter, have you discussed your print solution with the printer, as they may have a plug-in that can do this type of data merging, and all you would have to do is provide the printer with a packaged native file, along with the data and instructions as to what has to change... and for goodness sake see a proof of it!!!

  • Can you change the format of text in Track Text Edits?

    My client wants changed text to be blue double-underlined. I can apply a character tag to changed text to create the double underline, but it will not change the color to blue from the default forest green.
    Is there a way to customize the format of the Track Text Edits text? Please help as soon as you can because I'm starting this project today using conditional text for the deletions and character formatting for the changes and insertions in this ~300 page book.
    Thanks,
    Karen

    Karen,
    The track edit changes are just special formats of Condition Catalog items that are unfortunately hardwired. You can save them as MIF, edit the color, e.g.
    <Condition
      <CTag `FM8_TRACK_CHANGES_ADDED'>
      <CState CShown>
      <CStyle CUnderline>
      <CSeparation 10>
      <CColor `Forest Green'>  <-- change to Blue ro whatever is defined in the Color catalog.
      <CAndCondition >
    > # end of Condition
    <Condition
      <CTag `FM8_TRACK_CHANGES_DELETED'>
      <CState CShown>
      <CStyle CStrike>
      <CSeparation 2>
      <CColor `Red'>
      <CAndCondition >
    > # end of Condition
    HOWEVER, FM dutifully changes these back when you re-open the MIF fle. No can do manually.
    IIRC, I believe that Rick Quatro has written a Framescript that does some magic here. You might want to contact him - see:

  • Cannot type in a text box or text callout box

    I'm using Windows 7, IE 9.0.8112.16421, and Acrobat version 10.1.6. I am working in a priorietary platform for reviewing material and I can use all of the commenting tools and can create a text box and a text callout box, but I cannot type in them. My text box and text callout box work just fine with every other program that I use on my system. But this requires using Acrobat and its tools within their platform and I cannot type in those two boxes in that situation. Their first suggestion was it was an Acrobat problem. We have repaired and reinstalled several times to no avail. They then said to be sure Acrobat Reader was not installed (and it wasn't). I've cleared history. Their online reviewing system requires a specific Java script in a specific place -- we've installed, deleted, reinstalled, etc. and it still doesn't work.
    I've used this platform on another computer and it works fine. I got a new computer in February with a new CS, and the problem is occurring on only this new system. And only when I am using Acrobat in their platform.
    Would anyone have any suggestions what I might try? They said they had one report of a person having the same problem, but they had Reader installed.
    Thanks!

    I don't know how to save a sample file to the forum.  But I know it's actualy being created because I can close and reopen the document and the text box is still there and you can still select the text in the text box, view it and see it.  But as soon as you click outside the text box, the text in the text box disappears again until you click back inside the text box.
    This problem has been discussed ad nauseum with no solution ever having been given.

    I am on Adobe X Pro and whenever I add text using the text edit tool the text disappears when I add text to another place in the document. It is also creating comments for every place I add text. How do I get the text to remain visible in the document and not create a comment?

    Usually, responders claim that one is using Mac Preview or reader or some other program.  THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM.  THE DOCUMENTS ARE BEING CREATED AND/OR EDITED IN ADOBE ACROBAT X AND NO OTHER PROGRAM.

  • Issues using Oracle Text conditions

    Hi all,
    I'm facing an issue executing a query on a VIEW using Oracle Text Indexes.
    The DB version I'm using is "Enterprise 9.2.0.5".
    TEST_VIEW is an sql-view that has a query on several tables where one of them has two Oracle Text indexes, one on field FIELD2 and another on FIELD3
    executing this query I get 10 rows:
    select *
    from TEST_VIEW
    where FIELD1 = 1001 -- regular condition
    and (contains(FIELD2, 'Blitz') > 0 ) -- Oracle text condition
    But if I add another condition on an existent Oracle Text Index, I'll get only 1 row:
    select *
    from TEST_VIEW
    where FIELD1 = 1001
    where (contains(FIELD2, 'Blitz') > 0 OR contains(FIELD3, 'Blitz') > 0)
    As you can see the third condition was added using a logical OR, so I should get at least 10 rows ...
    Can anyone help me ?
    ThaNks in advance.
    Eduardo.

    Eduardo,
    Without a full test case, it is hard to see if there is something wrong or not. I did the following, and all worked fine on my 10g instance. I had to assume some things, but I at least think I have the basic gist of your inquiry in this example. Run it/change it to match your situation, and post back when you can.
    Thanks,
