Highlighting areas in a form

Question

I have a client who leases furnished office units. He wants a floor plan which will be used by his  leasing agents which shows the following info for each office: high price, low price and current price. These figures will change on a regular basis. He also wants to be able to highlight each office to indicate whether it is  vacant (RED),  available in 30 days (BLUE) or  available in 60 days (YELLOW).
I have turned the floor plan into a PDF form with 3 fields located in each office for the prices. My problem now is creating a feature which will allow the user to highlight each office according to the parameters I indicated above. My initial solution was to add 4 radio buttons to each office--red, blue, yellow and white (to reset). It does the job, but I would like the highlight color to be much larger (almost as large as the office).
Is there a way of doing this? Would it be possible to add a large box to each office and somehow make it so the user can change the color? Can the fill color of a field be determined by a separate radio button or check box? Is it possible to set up a sequence for a radio button so that it changes color with each click?

Thank you so much for your response!! In your sample document, the "Click the traffic light" example is exactly what I'm trying to accomplish! Although I know that the Javascript I need is right in your document, I'm a novice designer and I am unfamiliar with Javascript. I'm having a little difficulty figuring out exactly which parts of the JS I need for my button to do the same thing.

As you can see in the upper left corner of the floorplan, I would like to add a single button (traffic light) to each office. I made the buttons large enough so that a small portion of it would be clickable, as the price fields would have to lie on top of the buttons so as not to be obscured by the solid fill color.
Each click would cycle through the three colors shown in my document, exactly the way the "traffic light" button cycles through its three colors. At the bottom of the floor plan in the center I added a color key for the user--would these three text boxes be useful in the scripting (like the three hidden buttons in your example)? Could you please tell me what JS I need to add to "Document Javascripts" as well as the JS for the Actions tab in the button Properties?
