Hinge Casing Split apart.

Hey, ummm, im not too good with all this technical language, so i'll try and describe as best as i can.
I bought a White Macbook 13'' last year from family. i believe its a 2008 model. anyway, it is kept in good order. i cherish it, as i use it for my music coursework, and for the simple fact that i can't afford to replace it. However, the other day, i was using it, i stood up and i accidentally knocked it from my desk. Before i could save it, it had hit my floor, which is laminate. Luckily, it landed the right way up, and it landed still open.
But the problem is that it has split the casing on the back hinge. like, where it joins from the hinge, to the screen's back case (the one with the apple logo on it) ... i noticed that when you close it, the top lid is about half an inch further back. so the lids, arent quite aligned. when looking at the back hinge when its closed... the casing either side of the hinge has lifted and you can see a couple of grey wires.... this casing can be clipped back in again, so i can close it, and make it look fine. but when i open it up, and then close it like i usually would, it all cracks open again.
any ideas on how to help me? i dont want to buy a new screen or whatever. i dont know how you would fit a new case. or where to get replacements. ebay just seem to sell covers.
Any help = MASSIVELY appreciated. thank you.

Check here, <http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBookUnibody_ModelA1278>, for good information on what you may need. If this isn't your model you can do an on site search to get the correct one. You could also do a search on line for shops that might fix it and not be to expensive. Most of them will give a free quote for the cost of the repairs.

  • Plastic Hinge "Cover" Splitting Apart

The black plastic piece (thats visible when closed) of my MBP is splitting apart. I haven't dropped my macbook, or damaged it in any other way.
Is this covered by warranty? I didn't purchase applecare, but instead purchased the Best Buy black protection that covers accidental damage and such. They'll repair it, but it'll be out for 2-4 weeks. I use my MBP for work, so that's not a possibility.

    Hi
Sorry to hear you are having problems, quite alarming to find those cracks appearing! I just had to have a look at mine after seeing your picture but I am OK at the moment.
You have from new a years warranty which will cover such problems. Sadly it will mean that it will have to go back to Apple to be fixed unless you can get them to agree to an exchange. Your best bet is to go to your nearest Apple Store and have a word. It might be worth booking an appointment then you won't have to hang around to see someone.

  • Elements 9 editor screen splits apart and desktop shows through the gap- Help

I run elements 9. on a mac. Never really had a problem before. Today I decided to open a photo from iphoto to edit in photoshop. Neve been a problem
before but now the various panels of the editor screen have split apart and the desktop shows through. The same thing happens when opening a photo from inside the Organiser. Hope someone can help to get it all back together.  At the time I was trying to design some Christmas cards.

Thanks so much- I didn't realise it was an option-must have clicked it by mistake. I can see now how it can be used but the project box at the bottom is off the screen.

  • Indesign CS4 Table splitting apart

I'm using Indesign CS4. I created a table and then I went back in to add some text. As soon as I added some text, my table just split apart into 2 separate tables. I'm so perplexed???

We figured it out. (Pacificed is a coworker of mine, but I was unavailable to troubleshoot yesterday.)
It appeared to be a corrupted cell in one of the rows. I cut it, and repasted the cells in that row and everything reflowed nicely. I've had it happen in the past as well. I'm not sure what caused it.
The camera icon doesn't seem to be working for her (I don't even think there's a way to attach images from the website), so I'm testing it with the following photo:

  • Dv7 Left hinge pulling case apart? What the heck!

I have a dv7 that is very rarely used (I think I purchased it in 2012).  I noticed recently that my hinges are making a lot of noise/struggling.
Tonight I realized that the left hinge is completely busted and pulling the casing apart.  The laptop is clearly out of warranty, so I'm guessing I have no recourse.  I came upon another thread on this forum where HP was fixing the problem on other dv7's, but I'm not sure if those people were still in warranty or not.
    Any help or advice?
    Thanks!

I'm having the exact same problem with mine! Same model, Envy DV7-7227CL. I've seen a lot of the forum posts about Envys in general having this issue. I've only had mine for 14 months, and it's been a stationary laptop to replace my desktop (also an HP). It's really upsetting that all you have to do is open and close the screen regularly for this to happen.
Mine hasn't broken away yet, but once I realized the case was starting to pull apart, I applied some eletricians tape to the area and stopped adjusting or moving the screen. Has HP offered you any solutions on repairs out of warranty? I'm pretty pissed that I'll have to spend money to fix what is obviously a manufacturer's defect, but I need my laptop to be able to open and close.

  • HP Pavilion g7 Hinge / casing breaking Issue

    Hello,
I've had this laptop HP Pavilion g7-2235dx for awhile and the side part of my laptop eventually cracked off. I didn't think too much of it  though it did bother me slightly. Overtime opening my laptop it started pulling the casing off and this is when I've gotten bothered by it. Now I fear having to open and close this laptop and it's such a shame because I like it quite a bit for what it cost me. I don't know what to do the screws are not loose on it as it's still intact on my laptop. What do I do / who do I contact for this? Now I just leave my laptop open when I'm done with it to not further worsen it.. But it's terrible because I bring it to  school occasionally..

  • Pavilion G7 Hinge Casing

Fixed loose screw on right hinge of G7 Pavilion, week later both sides popped out, left side casing broke and totally out, right side metal popped out screen attached, literally by thread ... trying to hold together and prop back up with something. • Broken "hinge"/ casing - left side

The casing around the left hinge of my laptop has ceased to exist, as in the plastic around the hinge has completely broken off and there is nothing that I can screw the hinge into. The laptop was not dropped, in fact it was very gently opened and closed each time, yet this seems to have occurred to my, much like to hundreds of HP customers  (as I've read online that this seems to be an ongoing issue for many years with HP laptops).
How does HP advise that I proceed?

  • Split Apart Scanned Photos Automatically

There is a similar issue here: Break apart photos automatically, but I figured I might get better luck posting a new post than replying on one that is over 8 years old.
Anyways, I have an Epson Perfection 600 Flat Bed Scanner. The Epson scanner software allows you to scan in multiple individual photos at once. (I put like 6-8 photos on the glass, and it automatically separates them) I thought I could do the same thing with either Photoshop Elements (I have version 12) and/or Photoshop Organizer. I can scan using the Organizer software, but it only scans as one full image and does not separate them into individual images. I can then edit them using Photoshop Elements by clicking Image, then Divide Scanned Photos. It will do it, but I recall that I used to be able to do that whole function in the organizer software. I haven't used Photoshop for a while, so I actually cannot remember the exact steps I used to use. I thought used to automatically seperate them upon scanning them into the organizer software.
Is there some settings I need to change somewhere? Plug-in?
Please help! I have 10,000+ photos that I need to scan in quick and easy. Thanks!

I’m not sure how this would work in Organizer. As far as I know it has always been done in the Editor. Click the menu bar:
    Image >> Divide Scanned Photos
N.B. it is often not perfect and requires a good degree of separation to begin with, but from the Editor you can use the crop tool where necessary.

  • Splitting apart objects(paths?)

Hi, I'm currently working on a typography project and I've come across a problem that I've never seemed to solve in illustrator.
I created a white box with the cutouts of the letters that I want using the pathfinder tool, but what I would like to do now is split the white "box" down the middle, where each letter ends at the top and bottom. I want to be able to either change the colour of each side or to continue the pattern so that the shape of the letters is implied by half an outline... That sounds confusing but really all I need is to split this in two.
    Thanks!

    paperclipsalad,
I want to be able to either change the colour of each side
You may do that by cutting the white shape; it will be necessary to cut any gaps between the letters.
... or to continue the pattern so that the shape of the letters is implied by half an outline...
This, or maybe both, may be accomplished if you:
    1) Create a copy of each letter in place and hide everything else,
    and for each letter:
    2) Cut at top and bottom or wherever you get meaningful segments for the following, so that you get pairs of opposite paths enclosing (part of) the letter,
and for each pair of paths (with the Object>Blend Options>1 step and Align to path):
    3) Object>Blend>Make
    and then
    4) Join all the paths 3) and add segments if needed.
Obviously, especially for some letters such as the Alef and the white part trapped in the middle, you will have to make decisions which will determine the final look.

  • My iphone4s was split apart with no reason

Need help!! My iphone got spit apart from the backplate to the LCD, Battery is fine, but LCD is broken, back plate too, did not drop it at all. was just charging until after a few hours i found it on my desk broken apart. this is sooo wierd. please are there any similar problems out there. need advice on how this happend and how to prevent it.

Unfortunately, this is likely a symptom that the power supply has failed on the Time Capsule.
Take the Time Capsule to an Apple store or an Apple servicer to let them take a look and discuss your options with you.
Apple will replace the Time Capsule if it is in warranty or covered by AppleCare on your Mac.
If the Time Capsule is out of warranty, Apple will not offer repairs, but there are some shops that do. See this link for more details:

  • Envy m6 1125dx - lid cracking and splitting apart

I have an m6 that is otherwise perfectly functional. A few months back, the lid started making interesting noises when opening and closing. Upon closer inspection I see that the lid is cracking and the aluminum plate on the outside of the lid has started to bow out.
Any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm being very careful about how I open and close the lid but I get the feeling that it will completely break apart in the not-too-distant future.
    Thanks,
    Michael

Guys... it's not a swollen batter. This is something not meshing right w/ teh case. The battery is far away from this spot and has already been replaced.
Also no apple care. The case has now broke in two around the monitor.
I'm kinda looking for someone that has had this problem.

  • Hinge Falling Apart

Yesterday my hinge started falling apart. This machine has never been dropped or over-extended before. I was told by the Apple Store today it must have been dropped and would not be covered under warranty. However (like many others I've seen claim the same thing, on the internet at least) my machine has never been dropped or mishandled, it sits on my desk. The majority of people also claim this problem has happened on the right side of their machine, as it has on mine, which leads me to believe this is a manufacturing issue.
I was asked to call Apple Care, buy when I did they said in essence "whatever the Apple Store said is what you will hear from us".
So I was told to call Customer Relations tomorrow. I just thought I should log my situation in here in case it can aid in bringing attention to this problem.
