Hold variable values while changing data provider parameters in a template

Dear experts,
I have a problem in WAD. I have about 7 reports with 2 Queries each. Because of lower maintenance expenditure i would like to use only one web template. I created a dropdown item with a fixed option list. Every option represents one report and has two Set-Data-Provider Paramters commands which change the queries. It works fine but it can't hold the variables values. Example: every query contains the same variable (with suggestion value). If i insert a value into variable screen at the beginning and then use the dropdown-item to select another report, the next report is always calculated with the suggestion value of the variable (not with the typed in value at variable screen). How could i hand over this value to the next report/queries?
If there is any solution whitout ABAP-programming i would prefer it.

Error while generating Data provider

We are facing a weird issue while using Design Studio 1.2. Locally the tool works fine but when we use it from BI-Launchpad or through BI Enterprise it gives intermittent error "Error while generating Data Provider"
Same setup works fine in our Validation Environment.
We have tried running repair for Design Studio, redeploy the war files, creating new view but issue still exist.
We have BI 4.0 SP7 installed on Windows 2008 R2 system.
4 CMS running in cluster, Design Studio 1.2 is installed on 3 Nodes out of 4.
For now we are using 1 tomcat to access the system to narrow down the issue.
Experts please help us to resolve this issue.

I am not clear what your data source is, but I recommend checking the PAM https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001013822013E because there are some limitations with Design Studio and BI4.0

Change Data Provider Based on ComboBox Selection

Complete noob using Flash CS5 for Macs. I have a ComboBox component and a TileList. I want the ComboBox selection to change the data provider for the TileList. I've used a sample script from the Adobe website at the bottom, but it is not working in this context. Google returns no better examples. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Now th problem what I am facing is,
I am not able to call the function ChangeLanguage through javascript.
I have created a dropdwon using Hovermenu and added English and German.
Now when I click on these the function should be called.
Please help me in getting how setClientSideScript() can be used to call a function.
or any other way to call the function after clicking on Hovermenu Item.

Web report - Variable values while switching between views.

Hi Gurus,
We have a query which has a few variables that are getting populated with default values during query execution[customer exits].
We have added this query to the web.Now there is a date variable which gets populated with the current date value by default.Suppose the users don't vant to run the report for the current date, they are able to change the date in the variable window and execute. But once the report is run, and we try to choose a different vieew for the report, the report automatically gets refreshed with the selected view, but for the default current date value (because of the customer exit).Shouldn't the selected view be getting refreshed with the date values that the user had entered while executing the report?
Also when navigating between the different views, shouldn't a variable window pop up? Is there any setting to have the variable window pop up when navigating between the different views of a web report?
Would appreciate a quick response.

we need to go to Query properties -> interaction tab-> remove reuse variables to populate the variable screen everytime or "Save and reuse variable values" to supress variable window
or
Problem could be due to any personalisation.try this:
One the query is executed, click on the button which says change variable values.
In the variable pop-up screen which comes up click on the personalization button
In the new screen which comes up click on reset personalization button
Enter new variable values and execute the query.

'ALL' variable value not bringing data for All Geo Units

Hi everyone!
In BEx 7.0 we can't use * as we did in 3.x to use all the variable values.
Running a query in BEx 7.0, when I am selecting a variable value for Geographic Unit I see the value 'ALL' under the single value list. I select this value but I get no data when I use it.
What checks can I do to know this is working properly?
Is this expected to work as it is was the * used in 3.x?
Any help provided will be greatly appreciated.

have you checked the options at cube/Multi provider level to read data from Master / Transactional

Perhaps a stupid question but when you change your
arraycollection do you do arraycollectioname.refresh()? If not,
that should be your problem, without the refresh method your visual
object will not update but your arraycollection will.

Trunccolumn value while importing data to physical layer in RPD

While importing data from database, I want to trunc few column values so that I can put complex join, but I am not getting any link to do so.
Can anyone suggest me that if on database, if two tables are linked by outer join, than how can I restore the same join state in Physical layer while maintaining star schema.

I am using version 10.1.3.4.0
This query is a select type physical table in a physical layer of the RPD
select distinct project_no,project_name from cw_vertical_d where project_no = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."Project_Number")
NQ_SESSION."Project_Number" is a session non system variable.I am trying to set this variable through a dashboard prompt ( as a request variable ).
So when a user selects any value in the dashboard prompt then this session non system variable "Project_Number" should be set and then BI Server should fire a query with this value to pick the data from database.
But this report is failing with "*[nQSError: 23006] The session variable, NQ_SESSION."Project_Number", has no value definition*" error.
Don't know what is causing this?

Tachometer in WAD 3.5x - to show Avg of all values in the Data provider

I am creating a tachometer in WAD 3.5x.
Actually the requirement for the tachometer i want to design is that it should display the Average value of the data column that is displayed in the dataprovider(which is a view in this case).
My view (Data Provider for tachometer) contains only one data column, and its Result row contains the Average value for the data column. But when I run WAD, the tachometer doesnot read the result row, instead it reads each of the individual rows and creates a pointer for each record. Whereas as per my requirement, the tachometer should display only a single pointer depicting the average value of all records.
I am trying to suppress all the single value rows and display only the result row in my view, am unable to do so.
Any help would be much appreciated

Just quick thought just try with the swap axis and do the table cross verification..

As per the help in my RnD it is working but it is 7.X Wad just try it in 3.5 hope fully it will works for you..if not please excuse..

Issue with variable values while adding report to Bookmarks/Favorites

Hello All,
I am able to save the reports from my portal as bookmarks with the appropiate navigation state & variable values for reports which do not have a mandatory value variable with no default value. For all other queries like queries with no mandatory variables or queries containing mandatory variables with default values, this is working fine. Any inputs is appreciated. We are in BI7.0 with SP12.

Hi,
What you can probably do is, perform a consistency check on your data in the internal table and segregate all those rows that have inconsistent data (in your case, the field NEWBS containing albhabets) into another temporary internal table. Display the temporary internal table in an editable ALV grid saying that these data have not been inserted to the database, coz they have inconsistent data in the field NEWBS. Allow the user to edit and then save the data which will consequently refresh the internal table contents.

I am trying to add values to Rule for Adoption of ATP Results in Purchasing(REVFE),Delivery Type for Stock Transfers Within a Company Code(LFART1) and another two more fields..After entering the data When i clik Save button... it shows "Data was Saved".But its not showing when i went back and come
I have checked in debugg mode and table T161V table ..waht ever i entered its not saved in Database table.
We have checked in another system its working fine..
Can anyone please help me on this?

Pie Chart changing data provider ?

Iv created a pie chart to which the dataprovider is often going to change , the problem is how can i draw the pie chart when the datprovider changes as currently the chart is drawn when the dataprovider hasnt been set and thereforee nothing is displayed?

I posted some information above that might be of some use to you. Note that my PieChart dataProvider is: stats_list_collection
When the function "stats_result" is triggered it changes the data for the PieChart and I reset the value of stats_list_collection. When that happens it changes the PieChart to contain the new values from your XMLListCollection. Basically the way this application was setup is to have a dropdown that a user selects and option from and it populates the data in the PieChart depending on their selection.
Another way of doing this (if you don't want to just update the dataProvider's content) is:

How to get the variable value while starting a session?

When to execute an interface or scenario, if there are variables related, the session will keep the value of those variables in case to restart the session after failure. However I can't find where they are stored in ODI Repository. Could anyone give me a hand?

Crystal Report runtime error while changing Data Source Location

We are using "Crystal reports for SAP Business one".The Crystal reports version is 12.1.
We built a report in another database with another server.
As we are importing the report in another database of another server,
I am not able to change the Data Source location.
When I am trying to change it,it gives Runtime error and closed automatically.
How can i resolve and change the data source location?

is your CR version the same from which you design the report and to the another server? also did you import your report directly to SBO without changing the data source first? in the case you should update first your Data Source in Crystal Report IDE before importing it to SBO.

Variable Values mysteriously changed within my task workflow

What can cause the values of my variables to read as displayed? These are not the values I assigned.
Workflow was working great until customer noticed they could not create new tasks So I opened workflow and this what I discover. Any ideas how why this would happen?

Hi Neoinbiz,
The fields in the workflow actions becomes IDxxx.ReturnValue or null because the content type for this approval workflow has been deleted from the site where the workflow runs.
So the fields cannot be rendered in the workflow.
As the content type has been deleted, so I recommend to delete the Start Approval Process and then re-add the action. After that a new content type will be created and then you can use the new content type in the task list for creating tasks.
