Holding rotated pages

I am working with PDFs created from InDesign. Trouble is the designer rotated one of the spreads to view a little better. The Client PDF looks fine (not rotated), but when I use that art as a background in InDesign for merging data, the resulting out put is with one panel rotated sideways. I have found in the past that I would have to save the PDF as Postscript and then distill back to PDF to prevent the page from rotating itself, but how do I know which ones are like this when I get 100 at a time and want to use the same layout for all 100?

We figured it out. On spooling the file, we switched from FieryOptimized to XMPieHighQuality, and from PDF to PDF/VT-1. Support was pretty sure it was the switch between FieryOptimized to XMPieHighQuality that fixed it though. Just a FYI if anyone else experiences this.

    Not possible. You need Acrobat for that.

  • Can I change the order or rotate pages in acrobat reader?

    This may be a silly question... I actually own & use Pro, so I don't use Reader. But my grandmother has the reader and wants to know if she can change the order of pages (and rotate pages) in acrobat reader. Or does she need to buy acrobat standard?
    Thanks!

    To the best of my knowledge, she can't with just the free Reader. But she can ask you to do it for her...

  • Acrobat Pro V8.1.2 "Invalid Page Range" Error - Rotate Pages

    Hi,
    I have Adobe Acrobat Professional version 8.1.2. For the last couple of weeks every time I try to rotate a page in any direction I get the following error:
    "Invalid Page Range" (OK)
    I have tried every combination of options for amount of rotation and page range (all, selected, specify). No matter what I do I get the same message. I have tried this on several different documents both encrypted and unencrypted.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    I know this is nearly 4 years late, and I realise this may not have been the cause with the original post, but for the sake of covering this issue for anyone who searches and lands on this page:  The most common cause for receiving this "invalid page range" error when attempting to rotate pages is becaue the option for "Even and Odd Pages," "Even Pages Only," or "Odd Pages Only" drop-down choices are inconsistent with the selection.  For example, if you're trying to rotate just page 1, but the selection "Even Pages Only" is slected, then you will receive this error.  You will find this option in the options window that appears when you click the Rotate command.
    Just my two cents after trying to remedy this over and over with users.
    Cheers!

  • Rotating pages - not allowed in an unsecured document

    I'm running Adobe Acrobat 9.1.3.  I would like to rotate the even pages of the document 180 degrees.
    When I select the pages in the page view, or use the document menu, the "Rotate Pages" option is not available to me. (it's listed, but greyed out in the document menu).
    When I look at the security options of the document, it is set to "no security" and everything listed is "allowed."  I have no options available to change anything on this page.
    The document was originally submitted as a PDF/A version - I removed this information from the file using the preflight tool.  It still doesn't work.
    Any ideas?

    In the preferences set the entry 'View documents un PDF/A mode' to 'Never'.

  • Rotated Pages not Printing Properly

    Greetings All,
    I'm not sure whether this is more an Acrobat issues or Word. I'm sure each would say the other.
    Working in Word 2010 with files that have some hi res images in them. We're using the Acrobat X PDF Maker Office COM Addin as it was the only way I found to get the full resolution of the images. The books also have pages that are rotated in Word to landscape. Once PDF'd those pages are then rotated in Acrobat to be right-reading. Which all seems fine on the screen.
    When printed to a laser printer, however, the pages that were landscape in Word and rotated in Acrobat sit lower on the printed sheet than the "regular" pages which are portrait in Word and therefore NOT rotated in Acrobat, ONLY when this button at the bottom left of the Acrobat print dialog is turned ON:
    If the "Auto..." button is on it prints correctly. It's almost as if the rotation in formation within the Acrobat file is incorrect.
    This happens when printed form Acrobat versions 9, 10 and 11.
    Has any one seen this and is it something the printer may have trouble with?
    Thanks for reading,
    Ken

    I've printed the PDF on 3 different printers, all get the same result.
    An interesting note (and maybe a clue?) that I hadn't bothered mentioning is that for the previous book in this series, using the same Word 2010 template, we used Word's Save As PDF to create the PDF. It wasn't until we were making the final PDF for the printer that we realized Word wasn't exporting the art at full resolution.
    WHICH MAKES NO BLOODY SENSE AT ALL!!! (sorry for the rant - we ended up editing the PDF going to the printer and replacing the low res art Word put in with high res versions)
    THAT PDF does not have this problem. Whether it's from having been created with the SaveAs or whether it was the extensive editing in Acrobat I can't possibly say. I DID try saving the PDF from Acrobat but it didn't fix the rotated pages problem.
    Thanks for chiming in!

  • Rotate page clockwise/counterclockwise

    Hello all,
    I am using Acrobat DC and so far, I like the amount of customization possible. However, I am having a problem with the page rotation tool. I deal with scanned PDF's all day long and part of my workflow includes correcting page rotation. The optimal configuration would be for me to have "Rotate Counterclockwise" and "Rotate Clockwise" on the top toolbar, so I have added them there using "Customize Quick Tools".
    The problem I have is that the tools work differently there than they do in the "Page Thumbnails" toolbar.  >.<
    Once added to the top tool bar, even though the labels still properly say "Rotate Counterclockwise" and "Rotate Clockwise", BOTH buttons function as the CTRL+SHIFT+R shortcut and open the "Rotate Pages" dialog. >.<
    If this is working as intended, is there some new workflow I need to learn that differs from XI?
    I work on a small screen much of the time and cannot afford to have the Page Thumbnails bar open permanently when the tools pane won't stay hidden.
    Even checking "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" in Preferences, the tools pane pops right back open again on a new document.  >.<
    Thanks in advance for help!

    I've never seen this. I also rotate my pictures as needed in iPhoto. When I put them into a book, the stay vertical. Are you using iPhoto 6?

  • Page zoom not holding between pages in FF4

    Back in good old FF 3 page zoom would hold between pages or on refresh, I am finding with FF4 every time I reload a page or click a link to a different part of the same website I need to re-size the page, as I use FF for its zoom function this is starting to get a bit frustrating, anyone know how to fix it?
    Much appreciated

  • CS3: Rotated page item: How can I get the top-right point

    Hi
    I have a rotated page item. Now I should have the top-right and the bottom left point. If I get the rectangle of this page item I only have the top-left and the bottom-right point. And I can read the rotation angle.
    - How can I get the missing points?
    Thanks
    Hans

    Algorithmically speaking (ie, this is NOT real code), isn't it just something like:
    if page.rotationAngle == 90 then
    origTopLeft = (newBottomRight.Y, newTopLeft.X);
    else if page.rotationAngle == -90 then
    origTopLeft = (newTopLeft.Y, newBottomRight.X);
    else if page.rotationAngle == 180 then
    origTopLeft = newBottomRight;
    else
    origTopLeft = newTopLeft;

  • Can I rotate pages in adobe reader for iPad.

    Can I rotate pages in Adobe Reader for iPad?

    Normally, the page will rotate when you rotate your iPad.
    If it does not, click the Home button to return to the home screen. Click the Settings app to launch it. In the Settings list on the left, select General. In the list on the right, in the "Use Side Switch to" section, check Lock Rotation. Then check the position of the lock rotation switch on your iPad. It's found just above the volume up/down control. Make sure it's UNLOCKED.

  • Rotating pages in in Acrobat Reader using Javascript + AIR

    Greetings,
    Currently we're building an application to view pdf files in an AIR application.
    We communicate with a javascript code, embedded in the PDF.
    Now, we want to rotate the pages of the document, but we cannot get this to work...
    Zoom, page up, page down, those work fine,
    but when we try to set the rotation for the pages, nothing happens.
    We also found rumours that rotating pages won't work in Acrobat Reader 9, but we need to be sure.
    all the help is appreciated!

    With Adobe Acrobat you can rotate pages. Read the documentation in the Acrobat Javascript Reference.

    I am also experiencing the same problem only recently.  I have used the program for almost a year without any problems except now.  Adobe Acrobat 8 standard, ver 8.1.5.
    Whenever I insert pages or rotate, I get an immediate shut down window, “Adobe Acrobat 8.1 ahs encountered a problem and needs to close.
    I am no longer able to use this program.  Abobe Acrobat 5.0 still works fine.  Does anyone have a solution?  I already did a repair and reloaded the program.

  • Rotate Pages Crash

    Acrobat 8.1.7 crashes every time I try to rotate pages. I have fixed this problem in the past by stopping a "process" in Windows Task Manager but for the life of me can't remember what the ("filename").exe was.

    Answered this one myself after searching Adobe support. The processes that need to be stopped in "Windows Task Manager" to stop Acrobat from crashing are: MotiveSB.exe and/or McciTrayApp.exe
