Home Network W10 and W7 how to setup network sharing

Hello,
I previously had all my machine with Windows 7, i had them all setup as work network and allowed file sharing, it was easy to be able to access all my machines from any machine. I installed the W10 technical preview on my machine
but i now cannot seem to access any of my other machines, it says i do not have permission. I dont have any passwords and i am not connected to homegroup. How can i get things p and going like i had before i upgraded.
Thanks for your support

This is a known issue in build 9926 (I assume that is what you're running).  MSFT promises to fix this in a future build.
Others have found a registry hack to get this working again.  MSFT initially recommended against the registry "fix" but now seem to be recommending it as a temporary measure until its sorted in a future build.
There are numerous posts about the registry "fix" but I'd be curious to see if the following works for you instead:
gpedit.msc (Group Policy Editor) > Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options > Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts (set this to Guest only)
Post back with your results either way.  Thanks.

  • How to setup Family Sharing iOS 8

Ok, here's a scenario that I'm sure many people will currently be in - a central Apple ID for purchasing App Store items that is shared between family members, and individual Apple ID's for each family member for email, calendar, contacts etc.
With ios8 family sharing how do you setup so that everyone can still access shared apps from the original "shared I'd" but also operate under family sharing with individual Apple id's?
Example, say we use the Apple id [email protected] as the current shared ID which has all books, music, apps purchased and has a current store credit balance.  This one is setup as the AppStore ID on each device.  Each family member then has setup as their icloud Apple id a personal Apple id such as [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] for email, contacts, iMessage etc.
I'm assuming the organiser becomes [email protected] but if that is on my device, can I still invite my own [email protected] on that same device to retain access to my emails, contacts, iMessage etc ?
Sounds as though Apple has done the right thing for new setups, but not necessarily covered existing users who followed their previous options - which came with its own shortcomings.
    Please help

    Hello,
It should be in Settings > iCloud and right underneath your iCloud account at the top, there should be an option to setup Family Sharing. Then it is following the steps outlined. Take a look at the page below for everything on setting up Family Sharing and also creating an account for child that is under 13. I have aslo provided an image of where it should be located under your iCloud account.

  • How to setup Internet Sharing from new MacBook Pro to iMac G4?

    Hey everyone,
I have a new 2011 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.7) and an iMac G4 running Panther (10.3.9).
The iMac doesn't have an AirPort card and the easiest way to get internet on it seems to be Internet Sharing.
I want to setup Internet Sharing from the MBP's Airport via ethernet to the iMac's ethernet, but am having trouble configuring the IP addresses etc to get the iMac to comply.
Your help and advice is much appreciated

  • ADSL modem/router and AEBS - how to setup?

    G'Day all.
I've been using a Billion ADSL modem, with a 802.11g wireless feature for the last year or so. I have in my network:-
    24" Core2Duo iMac
    AppleTV
    12" Powerbook
    A few iPhones
    Nintendo Wii
I now have a new AEBS and want to use that instead of the wireless in my ADSL modem. I can get the new wireless working, and still connect to the internet if I set up the AEBS in "bridge" mode, but the ports I had open/forwarded etc. before no longer work... (many apps that used to listen for connections can't be reached from "outside").
What I ideally want to do is:-
Use the ADSL modem for it's VoIP feature (inbuilt ATA), and QoS (throttles my internet connection during a VoIP call). I want to use the AEBS for everything else - wireless, NAT, etc. So, the ADSL modem is fairly "dumb" in this setup.
I figure that this way, both products can do what they are best at. When I need to use iChat etc., I know that it should pretty much just work, as long as I "enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol" etc.
Can anyone tell me how to do this? If I turn off the just disable "NAT" on the ADSL modem, I can't get on the internet at all...
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Duane.
I'm still after the same features I mentioned. ADSL modem for being an ADSL modem, VoIP and QoS, AEBS for everything else.
I tried leaving the AEBS as a bridge, but couldn't reach any ports on anything behind the AEBS, even after putting it in a DMZ on the ADSL modem.
I do now have it working, in case it helps anyone else:-
Billion - NAT and DHCP on, VoIP configured and QoS to throttle everything when a call is active. Assigning a static IP to the AEBS, and putting that IP in the DMZ.
AEBS - NAT and DHCP on (share a public IP address), static IP to my main mac for forwarding some ports, and NAT PMP on which seems to work by auto-opening other ports as needed (i.e. iChat video works with it enabled, and not with it off).
So there 'ya go. May not be conventional (?), but all seems hunky dory.
    Cheers.

  • Visual Age 3.0b and WLS451, how to setup ???

I use Visual Age 3.0b on a NT 4(SP3) and imported
all classes directly under /weblogic into an own project
all classes in /weblogic/boot into an own project and
all the the other classes in /weblogic into a third project
Anyway, independent of the project structure, when I
run the weblogic.Server class I get the following message
    onto the console output:
The weblogic.Server class was loaded from the <WEBLOGIC_HOME>/classesdirectory. This means that the <WEBLOGIC_HOME>/classes directory > is in
the Java system classpath, when it should only be in the WebLogic
classpath (as set by the property weblogic.class.path).
Please refer to the Administrators Guide "Setting up and starting theWebLogic Server" at
    http://www.weblogic.com/docs45/install/startserver.html for > more
information on how to start the Server.
However neither the "." directory nor the projects themself are in the
    classpath
specification in the properties control panel. And in the program panel
    I inserted
the setting for the weblogic.class.path which points to the external
    library and the external
    weblogic directories.
Which method would I have to overwrite and how?
Did anyone find a workaround ???
Thank you very much for your help
    Toby

    Solved,
the problem was, that I used the wrong Server class.
I run the class directly under the /weblogic root directory
instead of the class imported from the boot directory.
Actually it´s a bti more complicated if you take a closer
look of the import order, but ... it works now...
    Happy Day

  • HT5625 How to setup Family Sharing if you have use a 2nd AppleID with the App Store & iTunes

We would like to turn on Family Sharing for the 2 of us but we have 3 active Apple IDs.
Shared Apple ID - used to buy things in iTunes and the App Store
    My Apple ID
    The Wife's Apple ID
The logical move would be to merge the iTunes Apple ID into my Apple ID then set myself up as the primary.  Next invite the wife.
Merging isn't allowed.  Not sure how to handle this.
Maybe set myself up as the primary and invite both the Shared and Wife Apple IDs to join?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Also, you should be able to redownload via iTunes on the computer. See that method included here:

  • How to setup a shared addressbook for multiple users (Family) or a group?

I want to have a centralized addressbook for my family and thought, the addressbookserver would provide that.
I have actually setup 2 useraccounts on the server, activated the addressbookservice and set up a new addressbookaccount in Mail, Contacts, Calender on the clients.
What I get is two individual addressbooks hosted on the server.
What I wanted to get is to see a common addressbook for group contacts.
    What did I wrong?
Where on the server are the addressbook files stored?
    Thanks in advance

  • 1 How to setup new company name   2 How to setup row, rock and bin

    Hi,
Anybody who can help me how to setup new company.
And also how to setup row, rock and bin because we need to assign a location for our spare parts inventory.
    Thanks in advance.

Row/rack/bin sounds like an inventory system. For a simple system you might want to build your own from scratch, but for even a mid-sized company you really want a shrink-wrapped solution -- i.e. Oracle apps or SAP.
You don't want to be figuring out how to model material transactions, move orders, etc. Nor do you probably want to dive into various cost accounting options.

  • [RVS4000.v2] How to setup Itemized DHCP addressing

    Running RVS4000 on Cable modem.
'Itemized', is probably the wrong word I used in the subject line but this is what I mean:
Some small business type routers allow the user to setup the dhcp addressing so that specific hosts always get the same dhcp address, but I don't see how that might be done on the RVS4000_v2.  The router I just quit using was a NETGEAR FVS-318.  I ditched it in favor of the RVS4000 just for the gigbit lan ports, and still trying to learn to use it, at least as well as I was able to use the Netgear.
On that Netgear, it was clearly marked and notated how to setup the situation I described above, but I'm not finding anything I recognize in the `lan'  settings, on RVS4000 that I can recognize as a way to make that kind of setup.
Is it possible to make the dhcp server, serve the same IP address to a specific host?  Can anyone tell me how it is done?

mpyhala wrote:Hi Harry,Thank you for posting. Right under Server Settings (DHCP) in the setup page you should see Static IP Mapping. This allows you to have the DHCP server provide IP addresses based on the MAC address of the client. Each time that MAC address requests an IP address it will receive the same one. Please let us know if this is what you are looking for or if you need further assistance.
Yup, that was what I needed, thanks.
The terms describing that section are pretty confusing.
    Static IP mapping
And then the first question with dialog box to fill in is titled
    Static IP:{     }
Well, one would expect this to be about assigning Static IPs as its called in several places here.
Though it may actually be a nonsense term, sometihng like like `DHCP derived Static IP', might be a better choice of wording. So the user knows this involves dhcp and not plain Static IP assignment.
But anyway, its what I was after so thanks again.

  • What happened to iPhoto network sharing?

Since upgrade to Mavericks, I cannot see how I share photos across my home network.  I do not want to have to upload to icloud as this will take much longer.  What happened to the home network sharing option?

    Two things:
    1. Great Find:
Apparently everyone ignores the option of home sharing the iPhoto library using iTunes
    2. On the other hand:
I simply put it on my Qnap NAS
you might want to read this and reconsider:
iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, exporting, saving edits and sharing the photos.
    See this article
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5168
for more. Note also the comment:
“Additionally, storing the iPhoto library on a network rather than locally on your computer can also lead to poor performance or data loss.”

  • How to setup once an Airport home network and keep it alive?

    Hello!
I have the following hardware setup:
    1 - A Macmini 2009, Ethernet wired to my router which allows the connection to the internet;
    2 - An HP Deskjet printer, USB connected to the Macmini;
3 - My wife's laptop PC, WiFi connected to my Mac.
My Macmini handles the internet connection the traditionnal way (Ethernet and PPoE) and has a static IP on it.
(Why a Static IP? Because I run my own Webserver.)
I set up a WiFi Home Network in order to allow my wife sharing both my Internet Connection and the Printer Connection.
Everything run well: fast and smooth. The PC has Internet and Printer access.
    Problem is:
After each restart, I must re-create the Airport home network.
System Preferences-->Airport doesn't memorize the name, parameters and credentials of this network.
    How can I fix this?
Many thanks in advance for your replies!
    Best regards
    Gerry

If your router is wireless, you should probably use the laptop to configure it to take care of the network (i.e. have the router distribute the IP addresses). Then you can connect your computer to it via the LAN port on the router. Otherwise, you would have to set up your computer to "share its Internet connection" (via Preferences/Sharing or Preferences/Network not sure). I don't think you need to create a network for this.

  • My ipad recognizes my home network but will not connect to the internet. When I click on AirPort/preferences at the top of the imac screen it says..."AirPort has a self-assigned ip address and may not connect to the internet".How can I change ip address?

My ipad recognizes my home network but will not connect to the internet. When I click on AirPort/preferences at the top of the imac screen it says..."AirPort has a self-assigned ip address and may not connect to the internet". If this is the root of the problem, how can I change ip address?
Ipad will connect no problem to other networks.

First thing you need I think is to get your iMac connected to the Internet.
Shut down your iMac and you iPad. Then power off your router. Wait 30 seconds and power up the router.
After the router indicates that it is connected to the Internet then start up your iMac and see if it connects. If the iMac connects to the Internet then your iPad should too.
If this power up sequence doesn't work you'll have to dig into the router setup to make sure it is working properly.

  • How to setup a home network

I want general information on the best way to setup a in home network between mac and non mac computers with an airport router. Should I have a stand alone computer?  Should I consider using a mac mini for this purpose or is that not necessary?

No  you don't need a stand alone computer. If you could let us know what you're trying to achieve we can give you some specifics. However here is a link that provides some fundamentals.
    http://macs.about.com/od/networking/qt/sharingleopard.htm
If you use Google and ask specific questions you can find plenty of information. The above article indicates how to set up sharing on a network between Macs and Windows computers. You can share file, printers, scanners etc...as you will soon discover.
