Homehub 3.0 possibly the worst router i've had in ...

I have had the homehub 3.0 about 3 weeks now with a new infinity 2 installation.
I've left the settings all as defaults and its running
Version 4.7.5.1.83.8.57.1.3 (Type A).
I am constantly having issues with the wifi signal and DHCP leasing.
For example, this morning no computers or iphones in the house could get online and on checking the PCs they had no DHCP address (limited connectivity). I have had to power cycle the homehub and now it's working again - I'm doing this every other day atm.
With regards to wifi signal, the problem I have is that it drops out. For example, yesterday I was using skype on the iPad and suddenly the wifi icon disappeared and skype call froze, then a few moments later the wifi icon came back. Similar happens on laptops where wifi drops out then comes back. This seems to be getting worst. If I restart the homehub then it settles down again.
I have previously had o2 broadband wireless ii box and that was pretty much perfect, we hardly ever restarted it.
Another problem is when we come back into range of the homehub, my iPhone does not connect to the homehub for a while. Normally with the o2 router it was instant as soon as we were out the front door! now it takes a while for the phone to connect, same thing happens when I switch on iphone in the morning.
Is the homehub just utter pants? I have had various wifi routers over the last 10 years and non of them have caused this much greif! I am wondering if maybe does it sound like it's faulty?
I am tempted to just go out and buy a new AP, like a netgear or something - but will this lose me access to BT Fon wifi etc?
thanks

You will not lose your access to BT Wifi or BT FON if you use a different router, provided you stay opted in, it just means that your new router will not transmit the signals for other users.
There is a short list of alternative routers here.

    Hi joej49728017,
I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused. However this is just because Adobe Acrobat 7.0 is an outdated version & the now the activation server for it does not exist.
Please refer to the following KB doc.  Error: "Activation Server Unavailable" | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
The above link will help you to  install a special version that does not require activation.
In case you further need any help, please let us know. We will be more than happy to help you.

Why does the top button always brake why as my screen decided to pop off why is the back of my case bending when I have never dropped it why dose this shity phone keep sending text messages as picture messages this is the worst phone av ever had!!

I know a lot of people with iphone 5 and have never heard them complain about top button always brake and screen that decides to pop off or the back of their case is bending.
That sounds like a phone that has been dropped a numerous times.

  • LG Extravert possibly the worst phone ever!

"Upgraded" to this phone and I have to say it was the worst mistake I have ever made as far as phones go. 1. The screenlock button is at the top right side, so whenever you grab the phone normally and try to do anything with it, adjust volume, whatever, the screenlock button is inadvertently touched more often than not and locks the screen up. Horrible placement for that button.  2. The speakerphone is the worst sounding piece of junk ever! I can get better sound out of a garage sale walkie-talkie! 3. If I want to listen to my voicemails, check a bank account balance, etc., and I dial from the closed position, as soon as the call connects, the screen goes dark and I can't put in passwords, account numbers, menu options and the like from the touchscreen. I have to open the phone and do everything from the Qwerty...AND turn off the speaker phone(which is activated when I slide the phone open) to keep my account info and voicemails from being soundblasted all over creation. 4. But, by far, the most irritating thing about this piece of junk is the horrible problem with texting. After having the phone for about two weeks, I noticed I could not delete certain texts. No matter how I tried to do it, texts would not delete! I took it in to Verizon and they rebooted it several times and every time the texts were still there! Since there wasn't anything horribly important contained in those texts, I took the chance at exchanging it anyway, knowing personal info was still on the phone. I took the new one home, and two weeks later, SAME thing started happening, only worse!. Not only could I not delete loads of texts(a few I could), I but texts that I hadn't even read yet were disappearing. I get the alert that a text had come in, I open the screen to read the text from "John Doe", and the text disappeared! I later found it in the folder of "Jan Smith". A response to a text from my son, he never got, but it shows up in the sent folder to an entirely different person. I sent an "I Love You!" to my wife. Doesn't show up there...it shows up as a sent text to a guy friend of mine. This is so ridiculous I don't think I will give this back to Verizon. I would like a credit on my account for the $45 in upgrade fees and taxes, and I want to keep the phone. I will take it home, throw it down in the driveway and enjoy beating the snot out of it with a sledgehammer!

  • Honestly - this is possibly the worst OS launch since OS 8. Will there be an update?

I have been a Mac user since 1992. I have NEVER owned another type of machine, and I have worked through every implementation of the OS since 6.0.
I know there are challenges in any OS update, but I can say with confidence that I am incredibly frustrated by the memory usage, as well as the time outs.

  • This is possibly the worst documentation I have ever encountered

I am a composer, entrepreneur, and I've actually spent a lot of time doing technical writing. I am using Logic Express 8, and, for example I would like to define a region that loops. Of course, I can find "resizing arrange regions," and all kinds of stuff about editing regions, but I can't find either "define a region," "create a region," "creating a region," or "defining a region."
The whole point of documentation is to allow people to use applications quickly and easily.
I want to create the intro for a show, and I am using a snippet of one of my songs. I imported the song, tried to edit it, and I get "volume locked."
Again, I can't unlock it, and the documentation tells me to do things without giving me links on how to do it. I then search on the phrase I find in the documentation, and then I can't find further information.
I can hardly use the app, and in my opinion, as an experienced technical writer, it is because the documentation makes it really hard to figure out how to do anything. No links, rare graphics.
I feel very strongly that I could put together much better documentation, and I was a judge at a Technical Communications Competition, so my opinion is informed.
I find myself postponing projects, just because the documentation on the Mac apps (since moving from Windows about a year ago) makes things really hard regarding the initial learning curve.
I have a lot of suggestions and practical things that Apple could do to decrease the length of the learning curve and improve its documentation considerably, though I doubt that Apple doesn't recognize this "flaw." Maybe it is intentional. At any rate, it is very irritating not to be able to find even the most basic information in a help file quickly.
I type in what I want to do, and the help app should give me a real procedure with where to click and how to get it done. If I don't know the "Apple" vocabulary, the help file should map my vocabulary to its vocabulary, instead of insisting on its own lexicon.
I am very happy I made the switch from Windows to Mac, but the Apple documentation is at least as bad as Windows docs.
    Yuck!

    Hi Dainis
i agree with your comments. being a pro user of Cubase for many years & recently changing to Logic, i've been struggling to do a new project with Logic. Logic itself is a major part of the problem with a confusing array of menus all over the place & too many options. the manual is rather like the cubase manual in having the info their but the language & explanation are not not simply & logically set out & certainly not easily accessible from the index. why do manuals only appear to have computer generated contents list without proper use of subject listings parading as an index. • HP is the worst company I have had to deal with ever.

About a month and a half ago my computer broke due to a botched BIOS update. I sent it in to get it repaired under warranty, and it took them roughly a month to get it back to me (even though they said it would be back in 5-6 business days). When I finally did get it back I turn it on only to find that it had not been fixed entirely. Again I sent it in (after dealing with extremely rude servicepeople) and they have been terrible about shipping it back. They said it shipped last Friday (the 11th) and that it would be two day shipping, and it still has not arrived. Upon asking if I could have it shipped to a different address as I will not have access to my current one for the next 10 days they were again unhelpful and rude.
I will never buy an HP product again.

Have to agree with you, Hp seems real happy to take your money but does not follow up with customer care. I bought my laptop 2 years ago. The disc tray for the cd drive is stamped with a blu-ray logo on it leading me to believe that it was indeed a blu-ray player. I have not used it because I have another blu-ray player in the house and have'nt needed to. When my other player died on me I attempted to use my laptop. It didnt work. I took it in for repair and was informed that the blu-ray was not part of the specifications of the computer and would not be fixed because of it. I called Hp and was told that they would call me back with a solution within 48 hrs. I waited 3 weeks with no call. I called again and was told that because the computer did not have the blu-ray player included on the specifications, even tho it is stamped on the computer itself, they would not fix my problem. I also inquired as to how they thought it was proper buisness practice to stamp the product with a feature it did not have. I should tell you that I am downplaying the rudeness of the service rep at this time. He was apparently a supervisor named Shawn. He would not give me his ID number so I could complain about his handeling of the problem and would not allow me to speak to anyone higher than him either. At one point in the conversation he asked me if they had stamped Jessica Simpson on the product would I really expect Jessica Simpson to come with it? He also informed me that I was just one computer amongst the millions they sell and therfore not a big concenr from their stand point. Needless to say I was quite upset at this point, I informed him that I was not just one computer that had four HP computers in my home and I didnt think the cost of one Blu-ray player was worth the hassle they were giving me. He then hung up on me. I then called another service number and was informed that a service " manager" would contact me within 24 hours. To my surprise they called me just under two hours later. This manager, after  having to retell the entire story to him, held the company line and informed me that because the computer was obsolete they would not install the missing Blu-ray player  and even went as far to hint that I had changed the player in it. He also reconfirmed that because it was not on the written specifications they would not replace it even if it was new. So word to the wise if your buying an HP product, which I would not recommend, be sure to look at the online specifications of the computer before you buy it. Apparently Hp considers it ok to stamp the product with features it does not actually have and will not back their product once you pay for it. They will never get another penny of mine.

  • EA6500 HELP WORST ROUTER EVER!

Okay first off this is the worst $200 for what I thought was suppose to be a superior router.
okay this is whats up.  Since I first got the router last year it's been stuck on version 1.1.28.146856 and can never update it.  when it says the router will reboot it shows there's no internet connection for the longest time and I have to unplug it to reset it and 50/50 chance it says it's updated then later when I come back it's still not updated and yes I unzipped the file cause auto update doesn't do anything.
Plus on top of that I have to reset my router every 24/hrs and sometimes less with whats suppose to hold multiple devices. (which maybe only 4 are connected)
I went from a little netgear 150 to my first linksys cisco and unless this can be fixed this is the worst router ever.
I've given this thing long enough time and I've researched how to fix the problem and all forums are saying either return it and try again or it's junk chunk it in the fire it's worthless.

every so often since I get tired of having to unplug the power and back in so I can get internet connection.  Forgot to add I also have the RE1000 which I believe does nothing.  Also the front where it lites up cisco is always flashing on and off as well.  I've also maybe factory reset it twice in the year I've had it but it doesn't act any different even if I do.

  • Do I need to return the old router from Verizon after I transferred to a new address?

    Hello,
I was trying to return the old router that I had from my previous address. (They gave me a new one when I moved to the new house)
But I didn't receive the return label. Where can I obtain it, and what address do I need to send it to?
I tried calling the return department but I was on hold forever.
I googled and see some people said that they won't want it back, but some people said they do.
    Please help..
    Thanks,
    Sylvia

As already said it depends on the model that you have. If you have an Actiontec they will proabably want it back, but if its an old Westell they won't.

  • BT Infinity Installation - One of the Worst Experi...

I wonder if anyone can help. I’m having a nightmare getting BT Infinity installed. Despite telling BT I was moving back in April and being highly dependent on broadband as I work at home, three weeks after moving I am still waiting to be connected.
I must have spent 5 hours on the phone with people at BT and seem to be no closer to getting a resolution with no one prepared to take ownership. Firstly, my initial order didn’t go through properly and was only initiated on May 19th – three weeks after it should have been. Then an engineer came last Monday (June 2nd) but was unable to connect it due to a faulty port at the exchange/cabinet. An engineer’s appointment was arranged for today and my wife has been waiting in all day but have been told by BT that it will have to be rescheduled due to technical issue again at the Exchange (no one bothered to tell us).
Can someone help? I am absolutely at the end of my tether. This is the worst experience I have had with any organization…I also work from home so am highly dependent on connectivity.

  • Is it possible to add a firewall Filter or Rule Set to the Extreme Router (802.11n)

Is it possible to add a firewall Filter or Rule Set to the setting for the Extreme Router (802.11n) like the following:
    "ALLOW TCP/UDP IN/OUT to 208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220 on Port 53"  and
"BLOCK TCP/UDP IN/OUT all IP addresses on Port 53"
The goal of this is to create a firewall rule to only allow DNS (TCP/UDP) to OpenDNS' servers and restrict all other DNS traffic to any other IPs.
Or, alternatively is there a way to configure same applied to the Network preferences on IMAC OS X?
Thanks and much appreciation to anyone who has any clue about this.

Sorry, I think you've got it backwards.
The concern is NOT that the child can make changes to our hardware/AEBS, or even our network software on my IMAC - nothing's been changed.
BUT, he changed the dns settings on his OWN device (ie chromebook) to google public server, accessed the AE using our home wifi network BUT bypassed our dns settings. Capeesh?

  • Is it possible to sort or filter the switch routes under the switching tab?

In Teststand 3.1, is it possible to filter the switch routes under the switching tab in Action Properties?  Since I have a large amount of routes that have been created in Switch Executive, how can I filter out some of the routes from the "Routes to Connect" section?

The TestStand Switching does not provide any inherent filtering capabilities.  You do have a couple of options, however.
    (1)  NI-Switch provides the ability to set up route connections in
different groups.  The Switch Page in TestStand allows you to
select Routing groups as well as specific Routes.  It may be
easier for you to organize your Connections as groups and choose
    between different groups.
    (2)  The Property page also allows you to build route connection
string and use that string  for your Switching actions.  It
may be easier for you to build a Route string and easily change that
string rather than selecting your routes everytime from within the
    TestStand window.

  • $100 amber light: the worst Apple product ever!!!

I am so tired of wasting my time with Airport express. This is by far the worst Apple product I have ever seen!
I replaced the first AE thinking there was something wrong with it. But this one is acting the same. If I manage to have it join the network (Belkin), it will work for a few days. Today, the green light is gone and I haven't been able to set it up in any way. I don't want to crawl back behind my stereo with a flatenned paper clip any more. What I really want is somebody from Apple's wireless team so I can shove this waste of money where it belongs.

I am honestly happy for you, Ian. Unfortunately, it doesn't help me or change my experience/mind about it.
I am considering buying Ariport Extreme to replace the Belkin wireless router in hopes the AE would actually do what it's supposed to and more. But I am afraid that wouldn't solve the problem and I'd be even less happy. Lots of mentions of a possible firmware problem but I can't even check that. When I do a hard reset I can set it up but once it restarts, I no longer see the device anywhere.
Meanwhile, there's a cable running on the floor. Low tech but gets rid of the delay: I can do the sound work from the couch on my stereo!
