Horizontal view query help

Hi ,
I have a requirement that i have to display the report in horizontal format like
TABLE 1
1 xyz
2 abc
TABLE2
1 DXB
1 BOM
1 MAS
I need to show the output like
OUTPUT
1 xyz DXB-BOM-MAS
Could you please any one to help me to build the report query.
Thanks,
Venkataraman L

Without any Oracle Version, I would suggest below:
with table_1 as
  select 1 col1, 'xyz' col2 from dual union all
  select 2, 'abc' from dual
table_2 as
  select 1 col1, 'DXB' col2 from dual union all

  • VIEW Query Problem

    Hi Greg,
    I had created a view on a table which doesn't have Primary Key, but it has Unique and Not Null constraints on required columns.
    I had wrote a procedure to query the data on VIEW. I have experienced strange problem, very first call to procedure will take more time than succeeding requests. For example from second request onwards, it returns data in < 2 Sec, but first transaction is taking 12 Sec to 30 Sec.
    I thought that very first time VIEW is taking time to refresh it self. So, I added FORCE keyword in CREATE VIEW stattement. However, that doesn't helped out.
    In my further investigation I came to know that base table on which VIEW created, has to be loaded in to memory before querying on VIEW.
    So, I had executed a simple select statement on base table, before I execute VIEW query in procedure.
    With this change I got results consistently < 2 Sec all the times.
    My question is instead of executing the select statement on base table is there a way to load base tables data in memory before querying on VIEW?
    Thanks,
    Subbarao

    Hi,
    A view is nothing but parsed SQL statements stored in the database, a view may or may not run faster. If you execute the SQL used to define the view how much time is it taking. If you want try looking at MATERIALIZED VIEW , that may help you.
    thanks

    when Iam using a query in the materialized view query "select * from schema.table@link, with refresh mode fast option, the database throws an error " no table or view exists"
    Option - 2
    When Iam using a query in the materialized view query "select * from schema.table@link, with refresh mode option either complete or force, it gets created.
    I need to create the above materialized view query in the fast mode option, Please help.

    Hi,
    Does a table named profit_mvw already exist?
    The following example illustrates the two steps required to register a user-defined table. First, the table is created, then the materialized view is defined using exactly the same name as the table. This materialized view sum_sales_tab is eligible for use in query rewrite.
    CREATE TABLE sum_sales_tab
    PCTFREE 0 TABLESPACE demo
    STORAGE (INITIAL 16k NEXT 16k PCTINCREASE 0) AS
    SELECT s.prod_id, SUM(amount_sold) AS dollar_sales,
    SUM(quantity_sold) AS unit_sales
    FROM sales s GROUP BY s.prod_id;
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW sum_sales_tab
    ON PREBUILT TABLE WITHOUT REDUCED PRECISION
    ENABLE QUERY REWRITE AS
    SELECT s.prod_id, SUM(amount_sold) AS dollar_sales,
    SUM(quantity_sold) AS unit_sales
    FROM sales s GROUP BY s.prod_id;

    I also forgot to note that this problem also persists with the new iBooks application. I cannot get past the 'Get Started' screen or access the iBooks Store. Again, all top bar menus are unresponsive.

    My iphone 5 seems to be stuck in the horizontal view when I'm in the message mode.  In all other views I can turn the phone 90 degrees and horizontal to vertical works fine.  Not sure what the problem is.

    I found a solution!
    Perhaps this is just temporary, but I have my display up and working again.
    Although the symptoms are different were a bit different, the solution here worked:
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/120259/grey-screen-after-login-blue-scr een-of-death-from-cmdr
    As I was able to connect to my HD via an external monitor, in the finder, I went to:
    1. Macintosh HD --> System --> Library --> Extensions
    2. From there I moved all of the files that started with ADM and ATI (19 in total for me) to a folder on my desktop. (You will need to enter your admin password for this)
    3. Next was a restart.
    4. Then my display started working again.
    5. After that, I transferred the files back into my Extensions folder.
    6. I then did another restart with my fingers crossed and breath held. It worked.
    Also... During the last few days of trying to find a fix, I restored a Mavericks backup to my computer away from Yosemite.
    I'm very sure this problem occurred when I put my MBP to sleep, disconnected the power in its sleep, while something was connected to a USB port and unplugging the USB device (for me an iPhone charger) while the MBP was closed.
    I hope this helps the next person.

    It seems I have confused enough people with my improper presentation of query. Sorry guys. I will restate my question with different table names.
    The above was my previous posting, which was not clear..so Iam restating my problem as follows....
    I have the following tables
    Customer(custID, Name, Address)
    Order(custID, OrderID, orderDate)
    CreditCard(custID, creditCard#, creditCardType)
    Now if I have 3 records in Order with custID 100 and 2 records in CreditCard as
    Order:
    100,A001,11/22/03
    100,A002,11/24/03
    100,A003,12/02/03
    CreditCard:
    100,42323232..., VISA
    100,5234234...., MASTER
    Now how can I get
    custID, Name, Address, OrderID, orderDate, creditCard#, creditCarType
    data in minimum no. of records....
    I think I have made my query clear..
    now please help me guys...
    thanks so much for your help.

    You are right.
    But frankly the actual tables on my database are not customer,orders and creditcards..but I just tried to reproduce the problem with these tables, please ignore that user needs a refund etc situtaion. If the tables were actually order,creditcards etc..it would have been a problem to be considered.
    Can you please help me with the query
    if I have m rows in Order and n rows in CreditCard. I will get m*n records, I looking for max(m,n).
    With the following fields in my query result,
    custID, Name, Address, OrderID, orderDate, creditCard#, creditCarType
    from Customer, Order, CreditCard tables
    Thanks so much for your htlp

  • Can't double click and add event in month view. HELP!

    For some strange reason, I can't double click to addevent on Ical Monthly view all of a sudden. Whenever I double click, nothing happens. Same thing happens on the year view.
    I can only add event now using the stupid + signs, or go into daily or weekly view. HELP!

    I have this problem too.  Just started today all of a sudden.  When I am in iCal on my Macbook, I double click - like I have been doing since ical was invented - and nothing happens, other than a quick "updating" message.  I tried clicking the "+" button but all it gives me is  "quick event" to add but nothing ever shows up in my iCal calendar on my mac.   When I log into to iCal in the Cloud - lo and behold! - I see dozens and dozens of "new event" entries all over my calendar!  What is going on and how can this be corrected?  At this point my computer's ICal program is basically now useless since I am prevented from adding anything to it.

  • Spatial vs. materialized views/query rewrite

    Dear all,
    we are trying to use Spatial (Locator) functionality together with performance optimization using materialized views and query rewrite, and it does not seem to work. Does anybody has experience with this?
    The problem in more detail:
    * There is a spatial attribut (vom Typ GEOMETRY) in our table;
    * we define a materialized view on that table;
    * we run a query that could be better answered using the materialized view with query rewrite;
    *the optimizer does not choose the plan using the materialized view, query rewrite does not take place;
    This happenes, even if neither the materialized view, nor the query contains the spatial attribut.
    The explanation given by the procedure DBMS_MVIEW.Explain_Rewrite is:
    "QSM-01064 query has a fixed table or view Cause: Query
    rewrite is not allowed if query references any fixed tables or views"
    We are using Oracle 9R2, Enterprise Edition, with locator. Nevertheless, it would also be interesting, if there is any improvement in 10g?
    A more complicated task, using materialized views to optimize spatial operations (e.g., sdo_relate) would also be very interesting, as spatial joins are very expensive operations.
    Thanks in advance for any comments, ideas!

    Hi Dan,
    thanks for your rapid response!
    A simple example is:
    alter session set query_rewrite_integrity=trusted;
    alter session set query_rewrite_enabled=true;
    set serveroutput on;
    /* Creating testtable */
    CREATE TABLE TESTTABLE (
    KEY1 NUMBER (4) NOT NULL,
    KEY2 NUMBER (8) NOT NULL,
    KEY3 NUMBER (14) NOT NULL,
    NAME VARCHAR2 (255),
    X NUMBER (9,2),
    Y NUMBER (9,2),
    ATTR1 VARCHAR2 (2),
    ATTR2 VARCHAR2 (30),
    ATTR3 VARCHAR2 (80),
    ATTR4 NUMBER (7),
    ATTR5 NUMBER (4),
    ATTR6 NUMBER (5),
    ATTR7 VARCHAR2 (40),
    ATTR8 VARCHAR2 (40),
    CONSTRAINT TESTTABLE_PK
    PRIMARY KEY ( KEY1, KEY2, KEY3 ));
    /* Creating materialized view */

    execute dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(ownname=> 'TESTSCHEMA', tabname=> 'TESTTABLE_MV', cascade=>TRUE);
    /* Explain rewrite procedure */
    DECLARE
    Rewrite_Array SYS.RewriteArrayType := SYS.RewriteArrayType();
    querytxt VARCHAR2(1500) :=
    'SELECT COUNT(*) FROM (
    SELECT DISTINCT
    ATTR8 FROM

    FOR i IN 1..Rewrite_Array.count
    LOOP
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(Rewrite_Array(i).message);
    END LOOP;
    END;
    The message you get is:
    QSM-01009 materialized view, string, matched query text
    Cause: The query was rewritten using a materialized view, because query text matched the materialized view text.
    Action: No action required.
    i.e. query rewrite works!
    /* Adding geometry column to the testtable -- not to the materialized view, and not to the query! */
    ALTER TABLE TESTTABLE
    ADD GEOMETRYATTR mdsys.sdo_geometry;
    /* Explain rewrite procedure */

    TESTTABLE
    i NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_MVIEW.Explain_Rewrite(querytxt, 'TESTTABLE_MV', Rewrite_Array);
    FOR i IN 1..Rewrite_Array.count
    LOOP
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(Rewrite_Array(i).message);
    END LOOP;
    END;
    The messages you get are:
    QSM-01064 query has a fixed table or view
    Cause: Query rewrite is not allowed if query references any fixed tables or views.
    Action: No action required.
    QSM-01019 no suitable materialized view found to rewrite this query
    Cause: There doesn't exist any materialized view that can be used to rewrite this query.
    Action: Consider creating a new materialized view.
    i.e. query rewrite does not work!
    If this works, the next issue is to use materialized views for optimizing spatial operations, e.g., a spatial join. I can supply you with an example, if necessary (only makes sense, I think, after the first problem is solved).
    Thanks in advance for any ideas, comments!

  • SQL Query Help - Is this possible or impossible????

    Hi guys,
    I need help with an SQL query that I'm trying to develop. It's very easy to explain but when trying to implement it, I'm struggling to achieve the results that I want.....
    For example,
    I have 2 tables
    The first table is:
    1) COMPANY create table company (manufacturer varchar2(25),
                                                          date_established date,
                                                          location varchar2(25) );My sample test date is:
    insert into company values ('Ford', 1902, 'USA');
    insert into company values ('BMW', 1910, 'Germany');
    insert into company values ('Tata', 1922, 'India');The second table is:
    2) MODELS create table models (manufacturer varchar(25),
                                                 model varchar2(25),
                                                 price number(10),
                                                 year date,
                                                 current_production_status varchar2(1) ) ;My sample test data is:
    insert into models values ('Ford', 'Mondeo', 10000, 2010, 0);
    insert into models values ('Ford', 'Galaxy', 12000,   2008, 0);
    insert into models values ('Ford', 'Escort', 10000, 1992, 1);
    insert into models values ('BMW', '318', 17500, 2010, 0);
    insert into models values ('BMW', '535d', 32000,   2006, 0);
    insert into models values ('BMW', 'Z4', 10000, 1992, 0);
    insert into models values ('Tata', 'Safari', 4000, 1999, 0);
    insert into models values ('Tata', 'Sumo', 5500,   1996, 1);
    insert into models values ('Tata', 'Maruti', 3500, 1998, 0);And this is my query:
    SELECT
            com.manufacturer,
            com.date_established,
            com.location,
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.model),
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.price),
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.year),
            mod.current_production_status
    FROM
           company com,
           models mod
    WHERE
          mod.manufacturer = com.manufacturer
          and com.manufacturer IN ('Ford', 'BMW', 'Tata')
          and mod.current_production_status IN (1,0)
    ORDER BY
            mod.current_production_status DESCWhat I want the query to output is this:
    com.manufacturer        com.date_established          com.location          mod.model          mod.price             mod.year     mod.current_production_status
    Ford               1902                    USA               Escort               10000               1992          1
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0
    Tata               1922                    India               Sumo               5500               1998          1If current_production_status is 1 it means this particular model has been discontinued
    If current_production_status is 0 it means the manufacturer does not have any discontinued models and all are in procuction.
    The rule is only one record per manufacturer is allowed to have a current_production_status of 1 (so only one model from the selection the manufactuer offers is allowed to be discontinued).
    So the query should output the one row where current_production_status is 1 for each manufacturer.
    If for a given manufacturer there are no discontinued models and all have a current_production_status of 0 then ouput a SINGLE row that only includes the data from the COMPANY table (as above). The rest of the columns from the MODELS table should be populated with a '-' (hyphen).
    My query as it is above will output all the records where current status is 1 or 0 like this
    com.manufacturer        com.date_established          com.location          mod.model          mod.price          mod.year     mod.current_production_status
    Ford               1902                    USA               Escort               10000               1992          1
    Tata               1922                    India               Sumo               5500               1998          1
    Ford               1902                    USA               -               -               -          0
    Ford               1902                    USA               -               -               -          0
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0
    Tata               1922                    India               -               -               -          0
    Tata               1922                    India               -               -               -          0However this is not what I want.
    Any ideas how I can achieve the result I need?
    Thanks!
    P.S. Database version is '10.2.0.1.0'

    Hi Vishnu,
    Karthiks query helped...
    But this is the problem I am facing...
    SELECT
            com.manufacturer,
            com.date_established,
            com.location,
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.model),
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.price),
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.year),
            mod.current_production_status
    FROM
           company com,
           models mod
    WHERE
          mod.manufacturer = com.manufacturer
          and com.manufacturer = 'Ford'
          and mod.current_production_status IN (1,0)
    ORDER BY
            mod.current_production_status DESCThe value of:
    and com.manufacturer = 'Ford'will be dependent on front end user input....
    When I run the query above I get all the rows where current_production_status is either 1 or 0.
    I only require the rows where current_production_status is 1.
    So if I amend it to look like this:
         and mod.current_production_status = 1This works....
    BUT if a user now passes in more than one manufacturer EG:
    and com.manufacturer IN ('Ford', 'BMW')The query will only return the one row for Ford where current_production_status is 1. However because BMW has no models where current_production_status is 1 (all 3 are 0), I still want this to be output - as one row....
    So like this:
    com.manufacturer        com.date_established          com.location          mod.model          mod.price             mod.year     mod.current_production_status
    Ford               1902                    USA               Escort               10000               1992          1
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0So (hopefully you understand), I want both cases to be catered for.....whether a user enters one manufacturer or more than one...
    Thanks you so much!
    This is really driving me insane :-(

  • Creating a Hierarchy Viewer query

    Hello,
    I'm having huge difficulties creating a Hierarchy Viewer Query. I've looked through the source code contained withing the demo, but it seems to require great knowledge regarding the component. I'm using a three-node model, each node grouped within it's parent.
    So I created a custom View to be used as a result list for the query and this part is working just fine. I can pick the unique ID for the node I want from the search results when the user selects one, but I don't know how I can make that specific node my "anchor", my "current node", after that.
    Since I'm looking for a specific "contact_id" selected from the search results, I think the correct way of doing it is finding it's node on the TreeModel, and then setting it as my current anchor.
    Please, any tips, directions or suggestions on how can I go about doing this?
    Thanks!!

    Hi!
    Thanks for the attention, but I've been through all the basic stuff. The HV documentation only teaches the most primitive part of it. I searched all blogs related to HV, all articles I could find, I've meddled with the demo source code and all I can think of, but I couldn't find anyone who would give much insight on the mechanics of the component or how to build a really powerful search engine for it.
    As a sugestion for the developer team, it would be great if the query for this component allowed us to specify actions to be performed on all levels of the tree, instead of only the root node, since most of the time people use HV as a multi-root tree.

    My phone remains in the standard vertical view mode and even when turned never switches to horizontal view.

    Very simple,
    Press your home button twice.
    Swipe the bar to the left.
    Set the potrait orientation lock/unlock.
