1.     I have a requirement to host the Database in the device, is it possible to host mySQL lite database in device and access it from Oracle ADF mobile run time
2.     My Application communication centric i.e, i need to communicate with external USB device for data, do we have libraries for USB communication in ADF mobile? if not what other option i have

Hi,
Always mention you JDev version.

  • How to find MAC-Address of a device using ADF mobile?

    Hi,
    I am developing an mobile application using ADF Mobile. The application necessitates the use of MAC Address for further development.
    Android SDK provides an easy way to find the MAC Address as:
    WifiManager wifiManager = (WifiManager) getSystemService(Context.WIFI_SERVICE);
    WifiInfo wInfo = wifiManager.getConnectionInfo();
    String macAddress = wInfo.getMacAddress();
    Is there a similar way in ADF mobile to retrieve the MAC Address of the device?
    Regards,
    Joseph

    This cant be done.

  • How to get imei number and mac address of mobile device on adf mobile

    Hi experts,
    I need to get imei number and mac address of device (supposed to be works on both android and iphone) on adf mobile
    bgrds

    Hi,
    Adf mobile support phonegap api. Version must be 2.0(you can check it by below code snippet) You can just reach uuid from both platform via cordova. Espescially, IOS restriction limits you to get device infos that you mentioned, but you can get uuid.
       getCordovaVersion = function ()
            var cordovaVersion = device.cordova;
            return cordovaVersion;
        getDeviceUUID = function ()
            var uuid = device.uuid;
            return uuid;

  • Quick answer needed----Does Oracle ADF Mobile support Canvas in HML5?

    I am interested in Oracle ADF Mobile and want to develop a native mobile product on ipad maybe other tablet devices with CAD functionality. But I can't find a way to create HTML5 with Canvas on it. I wonder if Oracle ADF Mobile can do it. If so, how?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    ADF Mobile comes with a rich set of Data Visualization Components (charts/graphs/etc) that's based on HTML5 Canvas. You would not need to develop your own set of HTML5 components. This is applicable to the new on-device version of ADF Mobile. You would need to create an ADF Mobile app, and create your user interface using AMX components. The graphics component set is call DVT Mobile AMX.
    If you decide to create your own HTML5-based pages with HTML5 canvas-based graphics component, you can still host your own HTML5 page inside ADF Mobile. However, you would need to create your own HTML5 page.
    Thanks,

  • ADF Mobile Client questions

    Hi,
    I am trying out ADF Mobile Client to see if we can use it in an upcoming project. I have some questions:
    - Is it with the developer preview posible to invoke the mobile device camera on blackberry or windows mobile? If not, ... will it be available in the production version? I understand that it must be implemented per device but the BB sdk e.g. contains Invoke.invokeApplication(Invoke.APP_TYPE_CAMERA, new
    CameraArguments()); to call the camera
    - Related to the previous question, ... how can i write a Blob to the backend server through SQLite? I see in the documentation that there is a oracle.adfnmc.sql.Blob type but when i try to create an entity attribute based on a Blob it is not supported.
    - Will it be posible to access other device applications like contacts or agenda?
    - Will the production version for Windows Mobile still have the dependency on the J9 Java Virtual Machine which is included in the mBS Mobile OSGi for Windows Mobile, a product of Prosyst Software GmbH. If yes, does that mean that we need to buy a license to that for every device running ADF Mobile Client?
    - When will support for Android become available?
    Kind Regards,
    Andre

    Hi Dennis,
    Thank you very much for your reply. Some additional questions ;)
    - What version of SQLite is used in 10.3.0.3? I saw that SQLite 3 has support for BLOB columns. Does Mobile Server 10.3.0.3 also not support the BLOB type in synchronisation to the sqlite clients? Currently oracle lite does have this support. In other words, could i somehow manually update the blob column in the sqlite database with jdbc java code in the mobile adf client application instead of direct via the mobile adf bc4j?
    - If i want to call a webservice from my mobile adf application must i use the Sun Java J2ME Wireless Toolkit or similar?
    - How about bluetooth printing support, the same as the previous. Program device specific solutions and call them from the adf mobile application?
    - Android support is very important to us. The application we want to build is for a large customer 10.000+ devices and allthough they also have windows mobile 6 and Blackberry devices, they prefer Android as the target platform.
    - Probably not but ...... any information on the release schedule whitout any commitment :) When will ADF Mobile Client go production and what is the estimated time to the first followup release?
    Thanks again,
    Andre

    Hi Joe,
    Thanks for the reply!!
    As per your instructions i created two classes 1.GetConnection.java and 2.PictureBean.java
    in GetConnection.java i written following code
    package Picture;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import oracle.adfmf.framework.api.AdfmfJavaUtilities;
    public class GetConncetion {
    public GetConncetion() {
    super();
    protected static Connection conn = null;
    public static Connection getConnection() throws Exception {
    if (conn == null) {
    try {
    // create a database connection
    String Dir = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getDirectoryPathRoot(AdfmfJavaUtilities.ApplicationDirectory);
    String connStr = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@fusion.networks.com:1521:fusion"+Dir+"/DeviceDemo.db" ;
    conn = new SQLite.JDBCDataSource(connStr).getConnection();
    System.out.println("connection*******"+conn);
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    // if the error message is "out of memory",
    // it probably means no database file is found
    System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    return conn;
    and in PictureBean.java the following code i modified..
    package Picture;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.PreparedStatement;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import oracle.adf.model.datacontrols.device.DeviceManager;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
    public class PictureBean {
    public PictureBean() {
    super();
    String src;
    private int quality = 25;
    private int destination = DeviceManager.CAMERA_DESTINATIONTYPE_FILE_URI;
    private int source = DeviceManager.CAMERA_SOURCETYPE_PHOTOLIBRARY;
    private boolean allowEdit = false;
    private int encoding = DeviceManager.CAMERA_ENCODINGTYPE_JPEG;
    private int targetWidth = 0;
    private int targetHeight= 0;
    public void setQuality(int quality) {
    this.quality = quality;

    public boolean getAllowEdit() {
    return allowEdit;
    public boolean isAllowEdit() {
    return allowEdit;
    public void setEncoding(int encoding) {
    this.encoding = encoding;
    public int getEncoding() {
    return encoding;
    public void setTargetWidth(int targetWidth) {
    this.targetWidth = targetWidth;
    public int getTargetWidth() {
    return targetWidth;
    public void setTargetHeight(int targetHeight) {
    this.targetHeight = targetHeight;
    public int getTargetHeight() {
    return targetHeight;
    public String GetSource(String result) {
    String src = "";
    if( getDestination() == DeviceManager.CAMERA_DESTINATIONTYPE_DATA_URL ) {
    src = "data:image/gif;base64,";
    src = src + result;
    System.out.println("src value in GetSource is "+src);
    return src;
    public void setSource(String result) {
    PictureBean pb1=new PictureBean();
    String src = "data:image/gif;base64,";

    try{

    String insertSQL ="INSERT INTO IMAGE(ID,PIC) VALUES(?,?)";
    PreparedStatement pStmt = conn.prepareStatement(insertSQL);
    pStmt.setInt(1, 1);
    pStmt.setString(2,pic);
    pStmt.execute();
    conn.commit();
    ret = true;
    }catch (SQLException e) {
    System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    return ret;
    and i created one button in Result.amx page and in Action Listener i had given #{bindings.savePicture.execute} and deployed into Android mobile.But i am neither getting error nor getting save picture into database.
    while i run PictureBean.java class alone the following exception occurred.

  • ADF Mobile on Android? Offline synchronization with the database?

    Hello,
    We are thinking about developing a project on Oracle ADF Mobile, and want it to run on both Android and IOS devices.
    And we want to be able to synchronize our database for offline mode.
    I read some docs, and they say Oracle does not have an Android version of ADF Mobile Client. It provides ADF Mobile Browser,
    but then it will not be possible to be synchronized with a remote database and run in offline mode.
    Is it possible to develop an application with Oracle ADF Mobile technology, that runs on Android and IOS phones,
    syncs with a remote database and run both online and offline mode, and uses device's services like GPS, camera, etc?
    Thanks,

  • Using database views in ADF mobile client application

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 and WLS 10.3.4.
    I have developed a POC in ADF mobile client application both with and without synchronization. However, both work with entity objects based on tables.
    I need to use database views instead of tables. When I try to include entity object (based on views) in the view object, it shows an error saying "Only the entity objects based on tables can be selected"
    Please guide me if there is a work around for this.
    Also, please let me know if there is way to develop an ADF mobile client application skipping the use of entity objects at all and using view objects directly to specify the database query and fetch data from the database.
    Thanks in advance.

    Edited by: ansh on Mar 28, 2011 5:40 AM

    Hi, Ansh:
    Currently, out of box, ADF Mobile Client does not support synchronization against Database Views. This is because Mobile Server imposes some schema restrictions to ensure synchronization with multi-table views would work correctly. This schema restriction requires, for example, the view must have a primary parent table with key defined, and also all base table must be included in the data publication. These dependencies requires manual resolution and advanced planning, and is managed outside of the ADF Mobile Client/JDeveloper project.
    To continue development, you would need to create server Entity Objects directly against the base tables. You can then create the mobile ADF Business Component (EOs, VOs, etc). You can then create View Objects in your ADF Mobile Client application based on the database views, in order to retrieve the data you need exactly. In other words, instead of basing EO on the database view, create View Objects in the mobile applicaiton to mimic what you had in the View Object.
    Is there any other reason why you would need to access data via database views, instead of directly against base tables?
    Thanks,

  • ADF-Mobile app will not rotate in iOS simulator or device

    We have been coding an ADF-Mobile app in JDeveloper and testing on both a Motorola tablet and an iPad.
    Both our application, as well as the demo "Deployment Successful" (found here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/MobileTutorial/jdtut_11r2_54_1.html) application rotate fine from portrait to landscape and back on the Motorola device, however, the same code will not rotate on an iPad.
    I understand that the device orientation functionality is controlled in the deployment profile. I have been successful with forcing my app to launch in landscape mode OR portrait mode (By deselecting both portrait settings or both landscape settings, respectively in my deployment profile) however, when I leave all 4 enabled, my app seems to be locked in right-side-up portrait mode (It will not even rotate between portrait modes)
    Has anyone experienced this issue with iOS devices and the rotation functionality, and if so, is there a workaround?
    Any help is appreciated
    Gord Taylor

    Hi,
    There is a known issue when you use Xcode 4.5 and iOS SDK 6 to compile your app - the app would not rotate correctly. If you use Xcode 4.4.1 and the associated SDK, then rotation will work fine on both iOS 5 and 6 devices.
    Xcode 4.5 certification should be coming soon - for now please try to use 4.4.
    If you are already using 4.4, please let me know and perhaps there are configuration issues.
    Thanks,
    Joe Huang

  • ADF mobile: Reuse taskflows for different device models (resolutions) ?

    Hi,
    ADf 11.1.2.3.0 + mobile extension.
    What's best practice to create the same mobile app for different device models (= different screen resolutions = different layout)?
    I mean an app on a smartphone may use different gui components and layout than on a tablet device.
    In adfmf-feature.xml the content of a feature can be either a amx page or a task flow.
    Here I can add a constraint to determine e.g. the device.model and use different amx pages depending on the device model.
    But how to reuse the task flow (assumtion: the taskflow is independent from the device model) and just create specific amx page per device model?
    regards
    Peter

    Replying to an old thread.
    With ADF Mobile 11.1.2.4.0, to display different content views for different devices,  it is recommended that we use following property as a constraint on the content of the feature.
    Property
    Operator
    Value
    hardware.screen.diagonalSize
    more
    6
    It applies this constraint on the devices which have screen size more than 6 inches. Which is applicable for the tablets.
    For more details, look at the HR sample found at the following location in your JDev after installing the ADF Mobile Extension

    Hi,
    ADF mobile supports SOAP and REST services for business services access. This means that for you to work against an Oracle database, you need to create a business services that can be exposed as a service for WS DC consumption as explained in the ADF Mobile documentation. Your options are
    1. EJB / JPA : Create entities from database table and then create a session facade on top. This then can be declaratively exposed as a WebService. Use the WSDL reference and start New --> WebService -> WS Data Control in your ADF Mobile project
    2. ADF BC can be exposed as a Service Interface and this to ADF Mobile. To create an ADF BC service you can read the product documentation or this: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2012/12-sep/o52adf-1735897.html
    See this video: https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/developing_with_oracle_adf_mobile for how to integrate this in ADF Mobile

  • Failed to deploy ADF Mobile app on Android device

    Hi,
    I created an application using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.3 .While deploying to android device ,I am getting the ‘INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE’ error. The size of the apk file is 22.6 MB while the free space on device is 1.84 GB.
    The error message is:

    Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE].
    Could you please help me to identify the possible reason for this.

    Yes, we copied the app file to an android device and installed it using 'PackageInstaller' but the application did not open up and gave the following error:
    The copy of the connections.xml file from the bundle to the configuration service managed location has failed. Could not create destination file : /null/oracleconfigservice/.adf/META-INF/connections.xml. This indicates a failed bundling of the application. Shutting down.
    Any idea on this?

    Is there a reason, why there is no direct support for adf bc via jdbc? Not exactly sure what you mean here. Remember that the mobile device is a one user environment so it won't make sense to have the full ADF BC run on the mobile device.
    Since you are working over the network accessing a remote server, you probably don't want direct JDBC access to the DB on the server because of network port security settings.
    Web services are the standard way to invoke remote logic on servers.
    Why is there no support for exposing the application module via a RESTful service, or is it planned to support in further versions?This is planned for a future version.
