Support for Handheld PC in ADF Mobile editor

Hi,
How can I change a screensize (240x320, 640x240) of mobile device in ADF Mobile editor?
Is it possible to add definitions of new devices?
Where device information is stored in project files? How editor knows that the page is modeled for given device e.g. Dell Axim?
regards,
Ryszard

bump. I can see in the flash demo that jdeveloper also has palm-5.0 and pocketpc, but my jdeveloper only has three I have never heard of: Dell-Axim, hp-2220 and siemens.
How do we change these?

  • Difference between Oracle ADF Mobile and Oracle ADF Mobile Client.

    Hi Experts,
    I am new ADF Mobile app development. I found docs for Oracle ADF Mobile here as [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35521_01/doc.111230/e24475/toc.htm]. I was following it sequentially.
    But when i searched for achieving offline data , data synchronization and using database for Mobile apps, i got another docs link [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23549_01/doc.1111/e14826/toc.htm] which is for Oracle® Fusion Middleware ADF Mobile Client .
    So I got confused which one to prefer over the other..? Both support on device mobile apps.
    do they have any difference over other or data sync & db features are not available for Oracle ADF Mobile..? & available only for Oracle ADF Mobile Client..?
    It would be much helpful if someone could provide clear difference between these two technologies.
    Thanks,
    Praveen S K

    I made a topic and the 'same' question popuped up.
    ( ADF Mobile: Data synchronization )
    In Mobile Client iOS is not supported, in ADF Mobile it is. That's the main difference (in my opinion).

  • ADF Mobile - Any Update

    Hi All,
                Could you please let me know. if Oracle is planning for any release of ADF mobile with newer version of JDK.
                We are really looking forward for following feature up-gradations
               1. Reduce initial loading time. and looking for comparative reduction in loading time.
               2. Inclusion of higher JDK version >= JDK 6
               3. All ADF features in ADF mobile
               4. Integrate with Phone gap / Cordova plugin
               5. Bar code scanner as inbuilt service
               6. Improved integration with Debug bridge.
               But as an ADF mobile developer, I am really looking for a matured version of this beautiful framework from Oracle.
    Thanks

  • ADF Mobile Client questions

    Hi,
    I am trying out ADF Mobile Client to see if we can use it in an upcoming project. I have some questions:
    - Is it with the developer preview posible to invoke the mobile device camera on blackberry or windows mobile? If not, ... will it be available in the production version? I understand that it must be implemented per device but the BB sdk e.g. contains Invoke.invokeApplication(Invoke.APP_TYPE_CAMERA, new
    CameraArguments()); to call the camera
    - Related to the previous question, ... how can i write a Blob to the backend server through SQLite? I see in the documentation that there is a oracle.adfnmc.sql.Blob type but when i try to create an entity attribute based on a Blob it is not supported.
    - Will it be posible to access other device applications like contacts or agenda?
    - Will the production version for Windows Mobile still have the dependency on the J9 Java Virtual Machine which is included in the mBS Mobile OSGi for Windows Mobile, a product of Prosyst Software GmbH. If yes, does that mean that we need to buy a license to that for every device running ADF Mobile Client?
    - When will support for Android become available?
    Kind Regards,
    Andre

    Hi Dennis,
    Thank you very much for your reply. Some additional questions ;)
    - What version of SQLite is used in 10.3.0.3? I saw that SQLite 3 has support for BLOB columns. Does Mobile Server 10.3.0.3 also not support the BLOB type in synchronisation to the sqlite clients? Currently oracle lite does have this support. In other words, could i somehow manually update the blob column in the sqlite database with jdbc java code in the mobile adf client application instead of direct via the mobile adf bc4j?
    - If i want to call a webservice from my mobile adf application must i use the Sun Java J2ME Wireless Toolkit or similar?
    - How about bluetooth printing support, the same as the previous. Program device specific solutions and call them from the adf mobile application?
    - Android support is very important to us. The application we want to build is for a large customer 10.000+ devices and allthough they also have windows mobile 6 and Blackberry devices, they prefer Android as the target platform.
    - Probably not but ...... any information on the release schedule whitout any commitment :) When will ADF Mobile Client go production and what is the estimated time to the first followup release?
    Thanks again,
    Andre

  • No support for 3D in Premiere Pro

    As we all know the major disadvantage of using Premiere Pro is the lack of native support for 3D. The other major editors like Vegus Pro and Edius Pro  do support 3D editing and so Premiere Pro is lagging behind in this technology. With CS5 I was using the Cineform Premium plugin which did make it possible to perform 3D edits. Unfortunatly Cineform does not work properly in CS6 and so Premiere support for 3D is non existant.

    Tim Dashwood's plugin (http://www.dashwood3d.com/) works in AfterEffects (and FCP 7 and X).  Mac only though, I think.  It's one reason I still have FCP 7 on my machine.
    Have you used Edius for 3D?  I'm seriously thinking of putting Parallels on my Mac and trying it out.  I'm less fond of Vegas though I used it for 2D years ago

  • ADF Mobile : task-flow navigation takes at least 500 milliseconds

    hi
    While navigating the CompGallery sample application [1] I noticed that navigation between (what looks like) simple pages/views was rather slow.
    Surely, this can be caused by different things (possibly the device, the app implementation, the framework, ...).
    To review this, I tried to build a simple example application using JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0
    at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2012/NavigationTimeMApp-v0.01.zip
    and as APK at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2012/navigationtimemapp-v0.01.apk
    It has a bounded task-flow with two views that allow to navigate to each other.
    see the screenshot at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/img/2012/navigationtimemapp-20121025.png
    It has a simple TimerBean that allows to get an idea about how much time navigation requires:
    public class TimerBean
         protected long fStartTimerMillis = 0;
         public void startTimer(ActionEvent pActionEvent)
              fStartTimerMillis = System.currentTimeMillis();
         public String getTimerInfo()
              if (fStartTimerMillis == 0)
                   return "no timer info yet";
              long vMillisAgo = System.currentTimeMillis() - fStartTimerMillis;
              return "timer started " + vMillisAgo + " milliseconds ago";
    }It allows for the following scenario (sc1):
    - (sc1-a) start the app
    - (sc1-b) click the "do goSecondView using a_TimerBean" button, which will navigate to "secondView" showing something like "timer started 621 milliseconds ago"
    - (sc1-c) click the "do goFirstView using a_TimerBean" button, which will navigate to "firstView" showing something like "timer started 537 milliseconds ago"
    - (sc1-d) if you care to stop the app, try a "Force stop" on the "App info" via "Apps" in the Android settings
    On my HTC Sensation Z710e I always get at least 500 milliseconds for each navigation.
    questions:
    - (q1) Anyone who wants to try scenario (sc1) and share his observed navigation times?
    - (q2) Which navigation times can be expected for simple navigation in ADF Mobile apps (like in scenario (sc1))?
    - [1] http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35521_01/doc.111230/e24475/demoapps.htm#BACGDHDJ

    - assets\storage\jvm\lib\logging.properties having only "level=SEVERE" configurations
    If you refer to something else, please specify.
    - Did you deploy the application in release mode vs. debug mode in the deployment profile? You would want to deploy it in release mode.Looks like the default is debug, which I have used for "navigationtimemapp-v0.01.apk".
    So, I configured on the Android Options the Build Mode as "Release" in the modified example application
    at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2012/NavigationTimeMApp-v0.02.zip
    and as APK at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2012/navigationtimemapp-v0.02.apk (now only 8 MB instead of 20 MB)
    But, I don't see a big improvement, maybe about 50 milliseconds improvement per navigation (so, about 450 milliseconds instead of about 500 milliseconds).
    ... so page navigation performance (and overall UI performance) is primarily dictated by JS performance by the web engine on the device. ...How can I determine (in the app) which "JavaScript / web engine" a device uses?
    At the end of the day, the actual performance of your application will be largely dictated by how you access data and the complexity of your screen. ...Sure, but I explicitly avoided those aspects here to have some kind of "base line" behaviour before introducing other complexities (that can slow things down).

  • Webcenter Portal Support for ADF Mobile Browser

    Hi All,
    I am currently working on an ADF Mobile Browser Application for WebCenter Portal.
    The main issue I face is that WebCenter has some really powerful taskflows and connectors. Is it possible for us to make use of these taskflows in ADF mobile browser? It seems that when used within the trinidad framework, the taskflows are broken.
    I understand from documentation that "Except for page fragments, pop-up in dialogs, and region support, you can use the ADF task flow to develop ADF Mobile browser applications. ADF Mobile browser application that use the ADF task flow only support the trinidad-simple skin family"
    Does this mean that taskflows that use the page fragments, pop up dialogs dont work or that you cant use them within jsff and pop ups?
    Sincerely appreciate any help! thanks

    Hi,
    You can reuse taskflows but you need to modify jsff pages with trinidad components.
    Thanks,
    Minal

  • ADF mobile: doc for supported css available?

    Hi,
    jdev 11.1.2.3.0 + mobile extension.
    Is there any documentation available which css functionality (known from ADF web applications) is available for ADF mobile and which limitations are known?
    e.g.: is -tr-rule-ref supported?
    I have already checked the adf mobile samples from Oracle but without success and I could not make a -tr-rule-ref example working for ADF mobile.
    regards
    Peter

    Hi,
    I know this statement from Oracle site.
    But:
    - As far I know -tr-rule-ref is not CSS3 standard but trinidad/ADF extension
    - Even there is no documentation available I know a couple of areas where things are "not supported yet" in ADF mobile.
    But anyway I guess the best way to go is to open an SR for this to get clarification.

  • No ADF Mobile Extension for JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0?

    Hi,
    I have recently upgraded from jdev 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.4.0, and when checking for extension, can no longer find the one for ADF Mobile Client extension.
    But the tutorial at : http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/jdev/obe11jdev/ps3/adf_mobile_top/adf_mobile/jdtut_11r2_54_1.html, says that its available.
    Can someone please clarify if its available for 11.1.1.4.0 and if so, how to get it?
    If not, how do I build mobile adf projects using this version? Or do I need to roll-back 11.1.1.3 if I want to build mobile client apps? And guess that would apply to mobile browser apps too?

    Hi Joe,
    Thanks a bunch for that quick and comprehensive reply, and sorry for not replying earlier!
    The reason why I was delaying your response was since our team was having some discussions around the mobile platform with a few leading analyst firms, and we wanted to get their inputs too about what kind of future are they seeing for such apps.
    Having got their inputs now, we are happy to note that Android and iOS support is coming soon, looking forward to Windows 7 support too, and in agreement with your views about J2SE/Windows, Palm/WebOS and Symbian.
    However, we are seeing a lot of queries from our clients, especially from ASIA-PAC region where they are asking for either platform-agnostic support ("the app should work on any phone!") or specifically for J2ME / consumer-phone devices.
    Given that you have not thought about targeting those yet, can we look forward to engaging with you about the same?
    Do please let me know.
    PS: By the way, we did get the Mobile ADF Client extension last week for JDev 11.1.1.4.0, but when trying to create a deployment profile for the mobile client app for blackberry, the BB and WinMobile deployment profile options are coming disabled. Can you please help us as to how to enable those?
    We have installed the blackberry JDE and 9700 simulators both, and also provided their path in the Tools->Preferences in JDev.

  • Oracle Fusion Middleware Java API Reference for Oracle ADF Mobile

    Where can I find "Oracle Fusion Middleware Java API Reference for Oracle ADF Mobile"?
    Thanks a lot for your time.

    Hi, this is referring to the JavaDocs for Java methods/classes supported by ADF Mobile. You can typically right (or ctrl) click on any ADF Mobile specific Java method and select "JavaDoc". You can open up a sample app that contains any Java class - for example the HR sample app, and find any method with name "adfmf*". You should be able to see the Java doc for the ADF Mobile related methods/classes.

  • ADF mobile Client App: Issue about using db sequence for populating row_id

    Hi,
    I'm working on an ADF mobile client app POC project. In the mobile app, new record can be created, the column type for row_id is VARCHAR2(15), I used the db sequence created in MC db, converted the seq number to a string, then set row_id via initDefaults method.
    The new records are created and row_ids are set with the proper sequence numbers when first time launching the client app in blackberry simulator. But if I exit the app and re-launch the app again, I got net.rim.device.api.database.DataTypeExpection when trying to create a new record.

    using 10gR2 on Sun-Solaris. Getting consistently "db file parallel read" over 35 ms as an average wait for the past few months. No performance issues as such.
    Using RAID 1+0. DB Size is 2 TB. Transactions are OLTP/Batch
    Is this metric high or normal. How to justify that..
    Looking at your results it's not really possible to say.
    db file parallel read is a request for a number of randomly distirbuted blocks, and the time for a read is the time for the last block of the set to be returned.
    Without knowing how many blocks are being requested at a time you can't really determine what constitutes a reasonable time. Given that you say OLTP + Batch, and have a large volume of scattered reads, it's quite possible that you have some queries on the Batch side doing very large index range scans - which would allow for some very large db file parallel reads.
    I take it from the use of statspack that you're not licensed for the diagnostic and performance packs; it would be easy to query v$active_session_history to get some idea of the number of blocks per request as this is given by the P2 parameter. As it is. you may be able to get a rough idea by messing about with the various "physical read" numbers in the Instance Activity section of statspack.
