Hosts file is being cached - comm channel is using an old version

We are on XI 7.0.
I wonder if anybody has encountered this problem before. We are using the file adapter to send a file to another server and the server has been moved and now has a new IP address.
We just changed the IP address in the hosts file and the communication channel is still trying to send the data to the old IP address. No changes have been made to the comm channel (so this is definitely not a cpa cache issue!).
The (unix aix) OS recognises that the host has been changed - if we ping the hostname from the OS it resolves to the new IP address.
I have seen this once before and the only way we were able to resolve it was by re-starting the java stack.
Please let me know whether there is another way we can resolve this issue.
Thanks
Richard

Here is what SAP said:
The mapping between physical hostname and IP address might be cached
in the JVM itself using class "InetAddress".
Besides the jdk 1.4 documentation for InetAddress has relevant
information to share, maybe you wish to review the same.
Please refer the info via:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/net/InetAddress.html
To help resolve clearing the Java Cache you need to reset the JDK
property "sun.net.inetaddr.ttl".
Detailed information can be sourced via access of link:
http://www.rgagnon.com/javadetails/java-0445.html
To overcome such kind of issue, SAP has High Availability for its
landscape. For instance, two machines share the same Virtual Hostname.
Under this situation, the switchover can be done smoothly. And JVM
does not need to be restarted.
This works fine - we set the time out to 2 days so that the cache refreshes itself periodically.

  • Cannot get the hosts file to operate or change.

I have tried to every way I could find on the internet to change the hosts file on my Mac OS X 10.4.11 computer plus several newer macs that operate in my office. I was able to easily do it on the PC's but not on the Macs. I modified the /etc hosts file directly to no avail, modified it using the terminal commands and also tried using the NetInfo manager. I am NOT a tech guy, just a guy trying to get his computers to work properly. A tech company just changed our router to a Cisco ASA device which is why this change needs to be made, they did not know how to make the changes to the hosts files on a Mac. Everybody in the office loves our Macs so to not be able to get to our own website and webmail is frustrating. Here is what I changed the hosts file to:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    192.168.16.2 auctionbid.stoutauctions.com

    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1 localhost
Is something else in the system I need to change to make this take effect? Is something set wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also if anyone knows of a reputable company that will do remote work on Macs, please let me know. I have a few things that I don't know how to do and would not be worth a trip to the middle of nowhere for a tech company so if they can do it remotely that would be great.
    Thanks!

  • JSLink (js) file in the masterpage gallery is caching the old version

I am using sharepoint 2013 online (office 365). I am trying to following this simple JSLink tutorial: http://www.abhishan.com/create-project-dashboard-with-sharepoint-2013-js-link/
I have added a js file to the masterpage gallery like described in the tutorial. I also have created a custom list. I have created a new page and add the custom list as a webpart to this page. In the webpart settings I have add the path of my js file in
the masterpage gallery. Now I see it has some affect because I see some broken images. I changed the path of the images in the js file and upload it again in the same libray (masterpage gallery) and overwrite it. This has no affect. SP is still running the
    old version.
I have checked the js file out and checked in. Still same problem.
I have remove the js file and add it again with another image path. SP is still using the old version of the js file.
I have wathed the file in SP designer and it is the latest version!
I have watched the source code of the page and see the following registration of the js file:
    http://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/teams/_catalogs/masterpage/projectdashboard.js?ctag=102$$16.0.2607.1216
When I run this path in my browser and save and open the file I see the old version.
When I run the path below I have the same problem. The js file is the old version.
    http://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/teams/_catalogs/masterpage/projectdashboard.js
I have started the browser FF and IE in private session, but have the same problem.
I have cleared the browser cache and have the same problem.

    Hi,
According to your post, an problem occurred when you used JSLink in SharePoint Online 2013.
    We can do as follows:
    1. Check whether published the js file.
    2. Create a document library(JSLibrary) and upload the js file in it.
    3. Change the JSLink url in the web part settings.
    ~sitecollection/JSLibrary/ProjectDashboard.js

  • Problem with JDBC Comm Channel from UNIX PI Installation.

    Dear Gurus:
Inside a standard scenario, we have a receiver comm channel which use JDBC adapter type to connect to a MS Access remote database.
The database connection is made like this:
    JDBC Driver: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
    Connection: jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=//10.96.0.10/c$/app/appdb.mdb
Working from a Windows 2003 PI installation, everything works fine..
But we recently have finished a Heterogeneous migration from Windows 2003 + SQL server to UNIX AIX + Oracle servers and that particular interface does not work anymore.
Is there a way to connect to a MS Access from inside a UNIX PI installation..? Is there a native JDBC or ODBC driver that we can use to fix our problem...?
Waiting for your help. Best regards.
    Eduardo.

    Hi,
In the JDBC receiver CC, Advanced-->Advanced Mode, use poolWaitingTime and taskTimeout parameters and specify
    some time using seconds.

  • Anyconnect triggers Hosts File Access warning on Avira

The company I work for uses Anyconnect to provide VPN services.
I'm wondering why Anyconnect 3.0.10055 triggers a Hosts File Access warning on Avira Anti-Virus on my Windows 7 64Bit PC?  I tried turning the Avira protection off and then connecting and detected no changes to the file.  Anyconnect connects fine even when Avira blocks access.  Is Anyconnect opening it for write, but not writing?
On a separate note, why does Anyconnect use 6 ip addresses?  What document should I read?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

    Hi Bruce
as far as I understood, AC indeed modified the hosts file but just for a very short time during connection establishment.
To be more precise, after doing a DNS lookup of the head-end (ASA or router) it will rename the hosts file and create a new one that contains the result of the DNS lookup. This is to make sure that subsequent name lookups return the same ip address. When the connection is established, the original hosts file is restored.
Now, this is only important in scenarios where DNS load balancing is used, so where the DNS name you connect to potentially  resolves to 2 or more different ip addresses. This could cause a problem if at different stages of the connection process we use different ip addresses, hence we store the first ip address in the hosts file.
So if you don't use VPN load balancing then you should not see any problem if the hosts file cannot be modified.
What 6 addresses are you referring to?

  • My browsers (safari and chrome) continue to open an old version of a website. Even though I've cleared my browser history and cache.  Please help!  what else can I do.

My browsers (safari and Chrome) continue to open an old version of a website - even though I've cleared my browser history and cache.  It's essential I see the newly launched site - rather than the old ones.  It's strange it's happening in both browsers.
    Please help!

You, or someone using your computer, hacked the system to redirect certain URL's. The file modified is /etc/hosts.
The easiest way to fix the hosts file is to restore it from a backup that predates the modification, or to copy the unmodified file from another Mac. If you can't do that, then do as below. Please read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data. This is a simple procedure, but if you don't follow the instructions exactly, you could be left with an unbootable system. In that case, you'll have to restore from a backup or reinstall OS X.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    open -a TextEdit /etc/hosts
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). A TextEdit window should open. At the top of the window, you should see this:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1                              localhost
    255.255.255.255          broadcasthost
    ::1                                        localhost
    fe80::1%lo0                    localhost
Below that, you'll see some other lines. There should be nothing above the first line "##". If you have any doubt about that, STOP and ask for guidance. Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom of the document. Scroll bars are hidden by default until you actually start scrolling, so you may not realize that you’re not seeing the whole document.
If the contents of the TextEdit window are as described, close it, then enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (by copy and paste):
    sudo sed -i~ '11,$d' /etc/hosts
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Quit Terminal.
That will fix the hosts file. There is now a copy of the old hosts file with the name "hosts~" in the same folder as "hosts". You can delete the copy if you wish. Don't delete the file named "hosts".

  • Computer is caching an old version of a webpage - have tried everything!

I would ask Applecare (which I have) about this problem, except that they are only open "business hours"!!!!!!!
I created a new website for my sailing club with a new host. On Monday, I had our old host and registrar point our domain to the new host. 48 hours later everyone but me could see the new website.
96 hours after the repointing, I still see the old site on Safari, Firefox and Chrome. I have refreshed, deleted caches and restarted the computer numerous times. Have repaired permissions. Have turned off Open DNS. Have used Onyx to delete all internet cache files. Have spoken to the new host and my ISP and neither says it is their problem. (I have not asked the old host to delete the site from their server.) My ISP says it is not their problem because my iPad, using the same wifi router as my computer, can see the new site.
Why, oh why, can I not see my new website on my computer???
    Does anyone have any tips?
Am going a little crazy here!!

  • Batch File - Replace old version

I have a Word document that I have created which contains several macros. This file is copied by other employees into different folders on the file server for them to use.  I often make admentments to the master copy and have to email this to everyone
asking them to replace their versions with the latest.  This often doesn't happen meaning they are using an old version which can cause issues.
What I am trying to do is create a batch file that I can run overnight that will search the file server (basically every folder and subfolder where the batch file is created - nothing higher) looking for an old version and replace it with a new
version.  The file name contains the version.
I have been using the below but it does not seem to be working.
    for /F "tokens=*" %%P in ('dir /b /s "Menu v1.9.docm') do copy /Y .\"Menu v1.10.docm" "%%P"
    @Pause
This is not something I have written myself as I don't normally write batch files.
    Can anyone help?

I think somebody need to learn the basics of Windows.  You need to take some responsibility for understanding and writing your script.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm not sure if i would call creating a batch file the basics of windows.
I'm trying to understand it as best as I can.  I have changed it a bit to see if I can solve it but just can't, hence why I am asking for help.  I understand the process of it and most of the code but not things like Loc=%dI%~pI
Yes - learning would be helpful. Try the help.  SET /?
I also suggest that, since you are not a trained batch scripter, that you learn PowerShell as it will be easier to understand.  Batch is pretty much obsolete except for those of us that like to play with it.  Iztislike jugging with both hands tied
    behind your back.
PowerShell just works and it is much easier to learn.
But, as you wrote in your initial post, you are not a technician and don't care to learn.  You want someone to do it for you.  I recommend looking for a consultant as they will be able to work closely with you to try and get you what you want.
My suggestion is to stop inventing things without a good understanding of how to manage these things in a computer environment.  This solution is built into MSWord if only you would learn how to use it.  Word has global and group templates that
can be changed in one location and will effect every copy of word in the network.  A good office consultant can show you how to use MSWord correctly.  You are using it like a fancy copy of notepad.  Why spend 300+ dollars per copy if you are
only going to use it like notepad.  Notepad and Wordpad are free.
Office is used everywhere because it does all of this for you.  You do not need to "sneakernet" a solution.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Dreamweaver 2014.1 Live view is showing old version of file

I'm running Window 7 (64-bit) and upgraded from Dreamweaver CC 2014 to 2014.1 a couple days ago.  Since I'm using fluid grid design view is not available, so when I view my files in Live view Dreamweaver (DW) is showing very old versions when I edit some files (not all).  When I use split view the code is correct, but it doesn't correspond at all to what I'm seeing in Live View. The code window shows the current version of the file and the live view window shows an old version. Any idea?  Also, live view in this new version seems to be extremely slow.
Another question is, how can I re-install the old version (CC 2014)?  I tried to uninstall and re-install, but the install automatically installs 2014.1 and doesn't give an option. Thus far, I am very unhappy with what I've seen so far in 2014.1 and would really like to back off 2014 to speed things up.
    Thanks much

    Hi Preran.
I seam to have the same problem on a Mac. Also Live view keeps crashing and linked to Adobe BC.
If the live view crashes then the live view is showing an older version on the CSS file until I do a refresh. Its been driving me Nuts!
Also the CSS file is no longer automatically uploading to Adobe CC...
So I really could do with a solution for me to run on CC 2014.0 Please.
I am a subscriber to CC.

  • Adapter engine field blank in File Comm channel (Sender)

    Hi,
I am not getting any value in drop-down list of adapter engine in file adapter communication channel.System is allowing me to save the comm channel but when I am trying to create sender agreement, system is giving me following error
<b>Unable to find an associated SLD element (source element: SAP_XIIntegrationDirectory, [CreationClassName, SAP_XIIntegrationDirectory, string, Name, directory.s01., string], target element type: SAP_XIIntegrationServer)</b>
I m getting values of adapter engine when I select some other adpter like IDOC or RFC.
    Please help...

    Hi,
    1) Can you check your Post Installation.
    2) Look for SAP NOTES.
    3) Try cache refresh
       a)Start transaction SXI_CACHE.
b)From the context menu XI Runtime Cache select Start Complete Cache Refresh.
If you still face issue try this .
Many actions require to access System Landscape Directory content from the Integration Builder. To optimize performance, this content is loaded into a cache so that the System Landscape Directory does not have to be accessed directly each time that System Landscape Directory content is required.
However, this cache is not automatically updated if changes are made to the content of the System Landscape Directory. For this reason that we delete the System Landscape Directory cache if changes have been made to content in the System Landscape Directory. The cache is then filled each time that the System Landscape Directory is accessed. If we log on to the Integration Builder after we have made a change in the SLD, we do not need to delete the SLD cache.
To clear the SLD cache, from the Integration Builder main menu, choose Environment ® Delete Cache for SLD Data.
Once we have deleted the cache for SLD data, accessing objects in the SLD may take longer than usual initially.

  • File adapter in comm.channel green, but no message collecting

    Hello,
looks like this is something really at the roots.
Ok, we are in NW2004s PI 7.0.
One IDOC process is successfully implemented.
Now we started with a file to file communication!
File sender adapter is configured and shown in status green in comm.channel monitoring which would bring me to the idea that the comm.channel is configured well  (To be sure we changed the directory path in the comm.channel to a wrong one which results in an error. Ok, corrected. Now all lamps are green). Comm channel is activated and polling.
But... nothing happens. The Adapter is not collecting the file in the source directory (existing) and there is no entry in monitoring on RWB or SXMB_MONI.
In Adapter monitoring all adapters except the JPR (red) are with a GREY lamp!
As we had an issue with activating the adapters (adapter monitoring before did not show any adapter (except JPR) ) two days ago we are not sure if the current issue belongs to a mistake in the configuration or in basis environment.
From XI 3.0 side we would expect that the adapter monitoring should show adapters used in green.
Do you have experience with such a behaviour?
    Any help is welcome!
    regards
    Dirk

    Hi Bhavesh,
we are near to bumping our heads against the server.
    In comm.channel:
directory is :      /      (as simple as possible)
    file name is : *.001
The file in the directory is named it_test.001 so it should be catched.
    What can we do wrong?
By the way: If we change the directory to  /out   which is existing we have an (file is in this directory too) error message:  'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 /out: The system cannot find the file specified. '.
    Cache is fine!
    regards
    Dirk
