HotSpot Server supported on NT?

Back in February, I asked about HotSpot Server being supported on NT. I got
the following response. I am not able to find this bug on Sun's site to
determine if it's fixed and what version. I'm also not clear on why 4.5.1
is listed as supported with HotSpot Server but 5.1 is not - could this Sun
bug only affect 5.1? We're currently on 4.5.1 and want better performance
but are also working on moving to 5.1, so we're confused on what
configuration to use. Thanks.

Greetings ! As per the information available in the platform support
page, it is the latest platform support page which will be updated on
any certification or enhancements done. As there are some problems
discovered by the performance team using HotSpot Server VM on Windows
NT, the platform support page rightly states that we support Sun's SDK
1.3 HotSpot Client VM on Windows NT.
There are some issues raised on the same and there is a Sun bug id #
111993 for this problem. So, you can use HotSpot Client VM on WebLogic
Server 5.1.0 as HotSpot Server VM is not yet certified to work on
Windows NT. Hope this helps.

I got an answer to this by opening a case with BEA, here's the detail:
"We are still not sure as of this moment the date at which the HotSpot
Server in JDK 1.3 will be supported for WLS 5.x and 6.x
As for it's support using WLS 4.5.x, even though the online documentation
states that it is supported, it also states that stress testing has not been
done using the HotSpot Server JVM.
It has been my experience that the issues arise mostly during stress testing
an application. Thus, you may still want to stay away from this until
issues have been fixed by Sun.
It may also be that it does not affect WLS 4.5.x as it does WLS 5.x and 6.x,
since there were major Java changes from that earlier release to the latest
two.
At this time we still don't have a date for full support of the HotSpot JVM
because it is out of our hands to get it fixed.
You can most certainly have more then one JDK installed, and see if your
application does not have issues with the HotSpot JVM during testing. But
you have to understand that our support will be limited if you decide to go
with it into Production."

  • Does lion server support a single email address across multiple devices??

I am looking to move from an outdated Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 to OS X Lion Server but I am unsure as to how Lion will handle email. I do not want to spend money on a new windows server if I can get a Mac Mini Server to do the job. I am a very small business with a number of email accounts for a couple employees and need access to email and calendar from both the office iMac's and my Macbook Pro when on the road. My IT guy says I need Exchange but he's been off base on a few other items recently and I wanted to check with other sources.
I have 2 new iMac's, a MacBook Pro, an iPad1 and and iPhone4 on the mac side of things and 2 windows computers running XP. I would get rid of the windows computers completely if not for my CAD program which runs best not in a virtual machine mode.
How well will email and calendar entries sync across devices?

I have a very similar setup at my office. Lion Server will push email, calandar, contacts to all of your apple product with out a hitch.
As far the Windows XP machines, you can access email over IMAP with Thunderbird, and calandars via sunbird or the built in web app.
I would ditch the exchange server move to Mac OS X Server, and never look back.
    God Luck!
PS. All of your devices will be in sync all the time.
    Shore answer:
Does lion server support a single email address across multiple devices??
    Yes.

  • I want to use a mac mini as a server supporting storage. Can I pair my macair to it for when I need to perform updates and maintenance ?

I want to use a mac mini as a server supporting storage. I have other devices such as an iMac and iPad that will access information from the server. I do not want to purchase a monitor and keyboard as the unit will sit in a cupboard out of sight. Can I pair my macair to it for when I need to perform updates and maintenance ?

I have a 2010 Mac Mini running Yosemite and Server which I use
    as a headless home server.
I have is set up to allow screen sharing and can connect to it and
control it with my iMac, Macbook Pro, iPhone, and a 2011 Mini Server
that I use as an HTPC.
You can check this out for all the Yosemite Server capabilities:
    https://help.apple.com/advancedserveradmin/mac/4.0/
I have iTunes Home Sharing set up on it and have my entire iTunes
library on it.  I can then use any of my Macs to play Movies or Songs
from it and only keep locally a select subset of that on my individual
    devices.
Rather than and update server, I utilize Server's Caching Service.  The caching
server will duplicate any update download (system or MacApp Store purchases)
any time a device that is connected to my network down loads one.  The update will
then be stored locally and all other devices will download the update from it which
can be faster than from Apple directly.  This has the advantage of only having to download
once with limited bandwidth internet connections.  There is also an Update Server service
available, but it is some what more involved in setting up.  However, it will download
    and store all available updates.
There is another thing as well if you do not care for syncing things like Contacts, Calendar, etc.
to iCloud, you can set Server up to sync these items across devices locally.

  • Which application server supports EJB 3 and Java EE 5?

    Hi all,
I want to develop an application using EJB 3.
I was planning on using JBOSS 4.0.4 as application server, but I am not sure whether EJB 3 is fully supported.
Which application server supports EJB 3 and Java EE 5?
    Thanks

Just install it using the EJB3 profile in the installer. Don't use the "All" profile
and think EJB3 is included in it :)

  • What version of SQL Server support ssl connection with TLS. 1.2 (SHA-256 HASH)

    Hi,
    I just want to know,
What version of SQL Server support ssl connection with TLS. 1.2 (SHA-256 HASH).
    if support already,
    how can i setting.
    plz.  help me!!!

The following blog states that SQL Server "leverages the SChannel layer (the SSL/TLS layer provided
by Windows) for facilitating encryption.  Furthermore, SQL Server will completely rely upon SChannel to determine the best encryption cipher suite to use." meaning that the version of SQL Server you are running has no bearing on which
encryption method is used to encrypt connections between SQL Server and clients.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sql_protocols/archive/2007/06/30/ssl-cipher-suites-used-with-sql-server.aspx
So the question then becomes which versions of Windows Server support TLS 1.2.  The following article indicates that Windows Server 2008 R2 and beyond support TLS 1.2.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/kaushal/archive/2011/10/02/support-for-ssl-tls-protocols-on-windows.aspx
So if you are running SQL Server on Windows Server 2008 R2 or later you should be able to enable TLS 1.2 and install a TLS 1.2 certificate.  By following the instructions in the following article you should then be able to enable TLS 1.2 encryption
for connections between SQL Server and your clients:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316898
    I hope that helps.

  • Skype for Business: Admin would prefer you to use Lync or it's the only version server supports.

We're running Lync Server 2013, in house, and some of our more fearless users decided it would be a good idea to install the newly released Skype for Business client.
    These users were greeted with the following prompt;
You have the newer version of Lync called Skype for Business. However, your admin would like you to use Lync or it's the only version your server supports. Please restart now to use Lync.
I suspect, that our server is causing this. Can anyone point me in the direction of server prerequisites/patches/updates/KBs that might help eradicate this message?
    Many thanks in advance,
    James Vincent

    Hi,
It is controlled by the server (Client policy), when having Feb-2015 Lync CU installed on your Lync frontends, you can control the UI of the client by using Client Policy on the Lync side "Set-csClientPolicy -EnableSkypeUI $False or $True"
nevertheless you need to know that if you block the Skype UI users will get the mentioned Warning Message and the client will reboot into the old Lync UI but still they will have some confusion with some points (refer to this article for more details
    http://masteringlync.com/2015/04/04/change-is-coming-what-enableskypeui-doesnt-do/ )
If you want to block the whole update, you can do that by blocking the new updates and patches released two days ago using "SCCM or WSUS" although I think if you haven't done that already it is little late for that.

  • Does solaris dhcp server support user class

Does solaris dhcp server support user class(option 77). In my environment, solaris dhcp server seems just ignore this option set in the client dhcp discover.
    Does anybody can help me.

The clients are all Windows 7 x64 (but I've replicated the problem on MacOS and Solaris clients). The server is Solaris 11 x86.
For the problem to be the ARP cache, wouldn't the client's MAC address have to change during the reboot (i.e. the change in the client's MAC address is what causes the ARP cache to get confused, and hence the client gets blocked because of the MAC mismatch)?

  • Does smb in 10.8 server support NTLMv2?

Does smb in 10.8 server support NTLMv2? If so, how do I enable it?
Smb worked just fine in 10.6, but after upgrading to 10.8 its broken when windows machines try and connect. It works if I disable the requirement for NTLMv2 on my windows 7 clients, but that is a very poor solution.
I tried putting "client ntlmv2 auth = yes" in /var/db/smb.conf but that didn't fix anything.

Wow.....that's fantastic!  I couldn't understand a word from my supplier before.  Now it works, thanks Tom!

  • Event Server supports clustering / transactional safety?

Does this new Event Server application server support clustering and/or transaction safety?
I.e. in a trading type of application, how do you distribute load across multiple event servers and also, to what extent can you lose messages should a server instance suddenly fail?
    Thanks,
    Gary

The 2.0 release does not support clustering, but clustering support is planned for a future release. Whether messages/events can be lost depends on the messaging system and protocol being used to send events to an Event Server instance. The Event Server provides a framework for plugging into JMS as well as most any socket-based messaging system. In environments where throughput is extremely high, it is common to run an application in a hot/hot configuration on duplicate hardware to avoid losing messages during failover for messaging protocols that allow message loss.
    Hope that helps,
    Seth

  • ISA server support

I have external proxy that is used to get intranet access . i just want to filter some sites from this proxy , the best solution to get this approach is installing ISA server.
according to my communications with Microsoft people here in Egypt , there is no support for ISA server  from MS any more and MS do not sell ISA server.
my question , what is the best solution for my issue to prevent some sites from access on some clients?
is ISA server no more supported from MS?
    Maged Ramez Labib

    Hi,
As Milos Puchta mentioned, ISA Server is not supported:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/yuridiogenes/archive/2009/06/26/isa-server-support-life-cycle.aspx
And you could use TMG, it is supported:

  • RoboHelp 7 Server Support

    Hi,
When we purchased RoboHelp 7 Server, we just purchased
Maintenance support, not Server Support, as it was indicated that
Server support would be over $9,000 and was optional. We did
purchase support for the RoboHelp software, but we are running into
difficulties in successfully publishing to the server.
    From
    Adobe
Support site for RoboHelp, you can purchase incident support
cases but am not certain this type of incident support covers
server issues or is just for RoboHelp software. At the time of
purchase I was told by the vendor that the only support plan for
Server support would be to purchase the Gold plan. Can someone
    clarify?
    Thanks!

I haven't done so with a full blown help project or a WebHelp
Pro output, so read this with that in mind.
On my site there are a number of webhelp outputs as demos.
    One can be found at
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/search_highlighting/highlighting.htm
The host server is Unix based.
WebHelp Pro RH Server to be installed on the server so the
host company would have to work with you on that and the server
would have to meet its requirements.
I cannot comment on how fast it would all work as that would
depend on the size of the project and the server. Maybe the host
company would allow you to try a WebHelp (not Pro) output first?

  • Which versions of Microsoft exchange server supports Exchange OLE DB Provider (ExOLEDB)

    Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me which versions of Microsoft exchange server supports Exchange OLE DB Provider (ExOLEDB)?  Is Exchange server 2007, 2010 and 2013 support it?

Exchange OLE DB was removed from Exchange Server 2010 in Jan 2010. So, it is only available with Exchange

Do you know Is iPlanet Web Proxy Server support OpenLdap authentication ?
    Thanks
    Regards,

    Hi
This as per the HTTP/1.1 RFC (RFC2616)
The Connection general-header field allows the sender to specify options that are desired for that particular connection and MUST NOT be communicated by proxies over further connections.
The Connection header has the following grammar:
    Connection = "Connection" ":" 1#(connection-token)
    connection-token = token
HTTP/1.1 proxies MUST parse the Connection header field before a message is forwarded and, for each connection-token in this field, remove any header field(s) from the message with the same name as the connection-token. Connection options are signaled by the presence of a connection-token in the Connection header field, not by any corresponding additional header field(s), since the additional header field may not be sent if there are no parameters associated with that connection option.

  • Does the Messages server support transports?

Just curious, but does the built in Messages (Jabber) server support Jabber transports? These are the gateways that allow a Jabber account to act as a proxy for Windows Live Messenger, ICQ and other protocols.
The reason I ask is that I'm currently using OpenFire to run an MSN gateway, as it allows me to effectively use Messages as an MSN/Live Messenger client. While there's nothing wrong with OpenFire, I'm concidering using OS X server for managing a set of machines and I figure it's better to avoid installing anything OS X Server might already povide
