House plans?

i was told to get macdraw to draw house plans. can't find. any other "simple to use for non-geek" software to do that? 3d? rem, simple, i'm not good on high tech software.

This forum is for feedback about the forums themselves. The best place to ask this type of question would either be the forum for using your model of Mac or version of OS X.
That being said, you can find all kinds of Mac software & hardware at http://guide.apple.com/index.lasso (Apple US web site). It's not as easy as it used to be to find CAD or home design software there as it used to be. CAD & 3D modeling are in the Graphics & Animation category. Even so, I don't find any by Punch! Software listed, even though they are sold in Apple Stores.

  • Best way to make house plans using photoshop- City Planning Board rejected my 1st

I need to submit pro looking house plans to a city board. I am too Lisdexic to learn a new program at this stage of my life, but I am skilled with Photoshop pixel tools...(.There are some Phtshp  tools I have never used). I have looked at most of the house plan programs online and if I could find one that uses the same or similar tools as photoshop Bingo, I'm happy. Better yet I should just learn to use the Vector tools in Photoshop. My 1st attempt using the rectangles etc went just great until I saved them, went back to the picture later and they had disappeared. 3 hrs of work kaputz.
So my question is: How do I use only Vector lines, save them, come back later, finish the plan....second question: what is the printing procedure to make these lines as crisp as an architect would make?
If we had time I would share with you how embarrassing it is to stand before a city planning board and have their staff architect tell you in detail how crappy your plans are.

Parse the actionscript into 'somewhat' compatable javascript - maybe jQuery

I think the only way we will see a truly consistent(ish) rendering of flash content is through a js lib that exposes the flash player api and interprets the byte code at runtime
That was my first path actually.  I wanted to just take the byte data from Flash or event simple meta data.  But the problem in that is that not all devices support Flash Player, so the IDE is not accessable under all circumstances.
I have class builders (I can send a manifest to it and it will spit out my Actionscriptcode, I've ran it on 100s of files at times)... this helped me to get a better understanding of syntax relationships between code.  That being said... I can parse some PHP and Javascript into Actionscript, but I'm not working on the opposit to apply Actionscript logic within PHP and Javascript - to be honest I'm about 40% complete on that one.
FYI: I can render MXML live - at runtime and compile actionscript live - at runtime.  Try it out.
    Samples: http://reshapemedia.com/ftml/downloads/flash-samples/
    - lots of samples to test
    Tweening: http://reshapemedia.com/ftml/samples/tweening/
    - note: when using the samples you can edit and recompile the code live.
Now bring both feet out of the box - I'll be working on this for the next little bit to perfect it for my needs, but I'd like to make it work for everyone.
Who doesn't need the ability to change thier existing SWF they made in CS4 to HTML... so it can be visible on iPhone?

  • HT4463 i purchased one apps application House plans database and i want to transfer it from a computer to my iphone 5

    please tell me the procedures

Apps for a computer do not run on an iPhone.
Apps for iPhone bought with the iTunes app on a Mac or PC can be downloaded onto an iPhone by opening the App Store app on the iPhone, signing into your account, going to the Purchases list and downloading the app.

  • How can I make Acrobat save the scale (e.g. 1:50) when I save a document?

    Hello,
I have a document (a house plan) whose scale is 1:50. I regularly need to load up this document and take measurements off it, using the Measuring Tool. But each time I load it up, the scale is reset to 1:1, so I have to right-click and reset it to 1:50. Even if I then save the document, it forgets the scale and goes back to 1:1 the next time I open it. Is there a way to fix this, or is it a bug in Acrobat?
Thanks in advance for any suggestsion!
    Paul

    Hello,
I'm interested even if there is a complicated way of doing this.
I have several scanned drawings (originals is pre-CAD) that when printed instead of e.g. 1:400 is 1:330 and 1:100 is 1:130 and similar. This "odd" scale is ok for me personally but not the people at the building inspection department that need to approve the small updates I've done.
So it would be good to be able to say in a document that this distance should be Xmm when printed.
The method I'm using now is to use custom scale when printing e.g. choose 87% instead of 100% but this method is very paper and time consuming for several drawings with slightly different scale problems.
Edit: Using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

  • Iweb replacement

I've built several sites using iWeb, but Apple's move to iCloud will kill blog comments, so I'm looking elsewhere... any recommendations?
I have to be able to build a site with multiple blogs Specifically:
On http://www.mouzon.com, I have a blog where I archive news, a bunch of blogs where I sell our house plans (one blog for each plan type,) two blogs for our image collections, a blog that is our book store, three blogs that describe our services, and a conventional blog where I talk about the things that might be interesting to those that follow our work.
I do similar things on originalgreen.org, newurbanguild.com, and guildfoundation.org, taking blogs to places they don't normally go.
I did all this in iWeb, knowing almost nothing about html. Is it possible to replicate these sites with some other tool without dedicating months of my life to learning html? Or is it even possible at all?
And is there any chance of iWeb living on in some other form, like Filemaker did with a new company, or any chance of Apple launching a pro version? Some word of this could keep me as an Apple customer and not cause me to waste tons of time migrating elsewhere.

Apple are not getting rid of iWeb, just MobileMe publishing.
iWeb is an app and you can still continue to use it.  You just need to upload your site to another host such as GoDaddy or HostExcellence etc.
You are correct that Blog comments won't work - they were MMe only, but there are alternatives, such as adding http://www.intensedebate.com as a comment system instead.
You could always consider using WordPress as a blog instead and just linking to it from your website - this is what I have always done and I have managed to change the templates in WordPress, so they have the same colours and look of my website.
Have a look at http://www.weebly.com too.
You don't need to look for an alternative to iWeb yet.  It's an app and will still work.

  • Pdfs in TextEdit appear & print blurry

I have created a vector drawing (house plan) in Illustrator and saved it as a .pdf which I have then dragged into TextEdit to combine with a schedule.
It appears blurry (anti-aliased) both on screen and when printed out from TextEdit and as another .pdf.
To my recollection I didn't have this problem in Tiger.
    Any ideas?

Does the original pdf look and print OK?
I have never used textedit for graphics, either in Tiger or Leopard.
Can't you put the schedule into the pdf rather than performing a conversion to a text file?
Can you save the drawing as anything other than a pdf?
You might consider using NeoOffice or OpenOffice rather than textedit, which is basically a text editor with a few added features.

  • Auto Force Framed Objects to Next Page

How do I auto force a placed object to the next page? As you can see in the picture, I have two objects almost on top of each other. The bottom object is being forced up because there isn't enough room at the bottom of the page. I know I can force it to the next page using a hard line break, but I want the content to flow on its own as I make changes. I did try playing with the keep options, but to no avail.

Well, I was hoping to look at the same portion of text in both images, but your first image shows VAC 4, House Plans and the Story Editor shows VAC 4 Wise Builders, which I imagine is a different part of the document. Either way, I don't know of a way to move an anchored object to another page without moving the anchor itself. I assume you are using a custom anchor, as opposed to Inline or Above Line, correct?
By looking at your Story Editor image, I can see you separate your paragraphs with double paragraph returns, you have a double-tab in the paragraph after the anchor, and a whole string of paragraph returns, possibly as a way to allow space below your last visible paragraph, or to advance to the next page. This isn't what you are asking about, but that isn't the most efficient typesetting technique. You would be better off separating your paragraphs with the "Space After" paragraph attribute, using only one tab (and setting the tab position so you don't need two), and instead of lots of paragraph returns, you can either use a "Next Frame" character, or set the Keep Options of the following paragraph to begin on a new page/frame/column (which ever you have next).
Personally, I would anchor an object with the text that describes or referrs to the object, so it wouldn't really be a benefit to move the anchored graphic to the next page if the text is going to stay where it is. I would probably move the text and the anchor along with it to the next page (by either replacing the paragraph return that preceeds that paragraph with a "next frame" character, or setting the keep options as described earlier.
On the other hand, maybe I'm not understanding what you have or what you want. If you think that's true, maybe try describing it in a different way.

  • Best way to include drawing in an email?

When writing emails, I often need/want to draw something to illustrate what I am talking about. Lately it was a rough plan of my house to show the rooms. Sometimes it could be an article of clothing. Nothing professional or precise.
I find that drawing with a mouse has a lot to be desired and would much prefer drawing with a stylus right on the screen, but failing that, I wouldn't mind using my fingertips. I do not want to use some  other gizmo "in addition to" in order to draw something for the email or notes.
To do this, is the iPad my best bet? I can see myself ending up sending emails on my iPad if this is true.
Thank you for any enlightenment on this.
    -L

Meg, I have thought about it overnight and am leaning towards getting the iPad2 with the hope that it might have some apps that let me incorporate my drawings, notes, and audio files into Apple Mail.
I have been watching some iPad2 videos on the Apple site and  it gives one the impression that the person is writing words and drawing pictures with his fingertips right onto the iPad2 screen. Am I wrong in thinking this?
My desire is to be writing an email to someone and illustrating whatever I am trying to describe right on top of the email. Is that possible? Or would I have to do this in some other way? Would I have to draw a picture of, for example, a house plan or a new gizmo, and then attach it to my Apple Mail?
I downloaded AudioNoteLITE for my iMac last night and it is great, but it does not allow for drawing. It does allow for typing and recording sound. Then one can put the file into an email.
So are there any other solutions in addition to Bamboo Paper??

  • Adding attachment through ABAP screen

    Hi experts,
I have a requirement where i need to add attachment from a ABAP screen or through SM30 screen. That is, we provide a transaction code for the users to maintain table entries. In additon to maintain values, the user wants to add attachment. The attachment is a image of a map of the house plan.
So can someone tell me how to add attachment and the path or URL of the attachment need to be stored in a separate field in the Z table?
Is that can be done through OAAR transaction?

Look for GOS Attachments in the forum - probably it should help your need

  • Completely Resetting a Flash game

Hi, I've got what I'm sure is a common requirement, but I'm not sure the best way to pull it off, and I have a feeling I'm not going to like the answers. I've looked this up before but didn't find enough of an answer for my circumstances. I apologize for the length of this post.
In summary: I've programmed an entire game from scratch, without using class files, and there's no menu yet, and I'm not sure how to reset the game without using class files or resetting every single thing manually.
I'm making a Flash tower defense game with a friend; I'm doing all the code. I'd never used Flash or Actionscript before, so I started off directly programming the gameplay, to figure out if I'd be able to do it. I've done everything from scratch so I didn't know where to start or the "right way" of doing anything, so I figured out as I went along, which went much better than I expected.
So now I've got the gameplay almost completely programmed, the art assets are essentially finished and game looks great and runs (reasonably) well (and the occasional performance problems are due to graphics rather than code), etc. I didn't know how to use class files in AS3 when I started making the game, and when I read up on them and realized you can't import the class files into the project and must open and edit them separately, I was livid and decided not to use them; I was happy with how the coding was going anyway.
So now we've got a game where as soon as you run it, it goes straight to the field and the game starts; we haven't implemented a menu yet. We've reached the point of playtesting and it's becoming a huge nuisance having to quit the SWF and reopen or recompile it every time we want to restart the game, so it's time to program a "Reset" button. I thought this would be as simple as making the stage go to a different frame and back to the first frame, but that doesn't work, so now I'm utterly stuck. It looks like the easiest way to reset a game is to load the entire "game" as an object (or something to that effect, I forget exactly what I've read), then you can unload and reload the game object to reset it? It also looked like it would require class files which I'm hoping to avoid.
I don't think it's feasible to manually remove everything from the stage, reset all the variables, and delete all event listeners and references so everything is reset/garbage collected properly.
Thinking about it more, I'm also not sure how I'm going to get a menu to load before the game in its current state. Maybe I can move all of the gameplay to the second frame and make the menu on the first frame?
So, is it possible to reset the game without involving class files? Any chance you can do it by switching between frames and I just implemented that wrong?

Generic words of wisdom aren't a substitute for an explanation of how to reset the game.
There's no need to be condescending. Like I said, this is the first time I've used Flash. I'm not a stupid lazy kid who doesn't know how to structure development, I'm a developer who needed to make sure he could program the game before designing it. It would have been an enormous waste of time to plan out the game and our development approach without any experience, then build the menu and the basic structure and then get to the gameplay and realize I couldn't handle it.
My friend and I had never made a game together, much less in Flash which I'd never even used before, so we didn't have the experience to know the best approach. So I figured it out as I went. Will I be able to dynamically create a grid which highlights under the mouse? Yes. Can I get it so the player can click a specific square and it will drop a tower there? Yes, maybe we'll be able to make the game. Can I dynamically load creeps onto the field, push them into an array, give them a waypoint set, and have them follow the waypoints? Yes. Will I actually be able to get a tower to index through the array of creeps, check which ones are in range and which of those has the lowest health, and launch a bullet which will follow that creep until it hits it? Apparently I can handle that.
And so on and so on, and by making sure I had the skills to program the game, I had programmed the game! Imagine that.
Don't decide to build a house, plan the house, and then realize you can't build it yourself and you don't have the money to have someone else build it.

  • Best option for signal boost?

I have a WRT300N router and am using it for my laptop and Xbox 360.  Neither of these is N capable, so I'm not sure that's a huge issue.  Our desktop is plugged into the router itself.
Because of our house plan, the signal strength takes a pretty big hit as it heads to the family room (where the 360 and laptop are most of the time).  So...I'm looking for a go between.
After reading a bunch of reviews, I'd prefer something that isn't going to be a pain to setup.  Cost isn't really an issue, but like I said I don't know that sticking with N is really needed.
Advice on products?  Been reading some about the WRE54G and the WAP4400N

Just the floor plan I suspect.  But remember also, I'm not using the N signal since my laptop and 360 aren't running with N.  Our home office is in 1 corner of the house.  Meanwhile, everything else is pretty much in the opposite corner in an extension room.  So, there ends up being like 5 or 6 walls, and a fridge in between.
I think I'd prefer to add the WAP rather than relocate the router.  Since I'd have to buy something for our currect PC since it has no wireless capability.  Aside from the cost, I think it'd be an easier/better overall solution.
Thanks for your help, I just put an order in.

  • Ecommerce with item search

I'm creating a site for a company that sells house plans and I need an ecommerce platform identical to the one on this site -
House Plans | Home Floor Plans | Houseplans.com
Mainly interested in the ability to perform the search function for specific plan elements. Does anyone recognize this platform, or can you point me toward one that has this sort of functionality?
    Thanks!

  • What are the best sequence settings for a movie to be put on youtube?

I am making a video that consists of mainly jpegs and audio. The final movie needs to be crisp and fairly high resolution because the pictures have some house plans that need to be easily read.
I have tried the following settings only to get a blurry image result in the end:
Frame Size: 960x720 Aspect Ratio: HD (960x720) (16:9)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR 601 DV 720X480
    Editing Timebase: 29.97
    Quicktime Video Settings:
    Compressor DVCPRO50 - NTSC
    Quality: 100%
This seems to me like it should be a crisp enough image result but the end result is very poor. When I use the H.264 Compressor instead of DVCPRO50 - NTSC, the image is much sharper but the faded transitions are sometimes choppy, and you have to render the timeline with each change you make. Please help me find the best overall settings for smooth editing and sharper image.
    Thanks,
    Caleb

Your settings -- between the Compressor, Pixel Aspect Ratio and Frame Size -- are oil-and-water.
If this is going to YouTube (meaning not going to be viewed on traditional TVs) and it's mainly Photos, try using this:
    Frame Size: 1280x720
    Aspect Ratio: HDTV 720p
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
    Editing Timebase: 29.97
    Compressor: Motion JPEG A
Quality: 100% (though in a lot of cases, you could drag this down to about 75-80% and quality will not suffer)
Unfortunately, you won't get much (if any) real-time effects. Unless, of course, you're on FCP 6 or later, where you can use a ProRes compressor instead. But with your signature saying 10.4. something, I wasn't sure if it was safe to assume that. The Motion-JPEG setting should work in all versions.
