How are PDF Annual Reports Created?
Hello all.
Quick question about annual reports / other formal PDF presentations. It seems to me that a great deal of creative and copy goes into making an Annual Report. Pictures, type, financial tables/graphs, etc must all be combined into one document that has a consistent brand theme throughout.
My question is how are these created in practice? Is there some special publishing software or is it a combination of many different programs? I'm looking for a way to semi-automate PDF creation by maintaining a template in Acrobat / Photoshop that is styled how I like and that feeds off several word and excel documents. Any advice please?

Most folks would create such a document in something like WORD. It allows you to link to databases and such. When it is ready to be finalized, you would simply print to the Adobe PDF printer or use the PDF Maker.

How to Publish a report created by Oracle report builder
Hi Everyone
My colleague and I were trying to use the Oracle Reports Builder to replace our existing reports generator from our ERP system. We have already created the report in the Reports Builder from the development suite.
What we are looking for is a similar solution as the Microsoft reporting service;
1) create the company report templates
2) and then upload the template files to a location (e.g. folder on the server)
3) then all user in the company can access it by a web browser with some fields which they can enter some critiria (e.g. purchase order number).
4) then send to printer and the print out should look exactly like the template.
Unfortunately, we had very bad time on try to find out what we need and how to publish that Oracle report we created. We spent 15 hours on that but no result.
In that 15 hours we tried to setup the "Oracle report service", but at last my colleague said that wasnt what we looking for, the "Oracle report service" is for reporting the error from the application hosted on the server, not for publish the company report created by the "Oracle report bulider" .
We use Oracle Database 10g for the ERP quite a long time already. We had the Oracle Developer Setup, and the Application Server Installed.
Could someone please tell us what kind of Oracle service we are actually looking for. Any other suggestion and setup guides are also the most welcoming.

We went live with the external posting for e-recruiting and the user id's generated contain a nine char value in the back end. Now we are working for internal candidates and this question poped up because for any internal employee who's applying for a job should have his PERNR number too in the user id(correct me if I am wrong), so that his with his user id he can login into any HR related applications. This is when CUA is coming into picture. CUA is going to be implemented to our productions system which currently for external postings only, will this create for internal problems.
Is there to know how these nine character user id's are getting generated.

Only Apple can potentially delete an account, and if you had asked them to do so and they did delete it then its purchase history will also have gone. -
How are quicktime 'unknown files' created?
Occasionally when i'm importing digitized clips, I get an error message saying one file couldn't be imported: "File Error: Unknown file."
Such 'bad' files are always the last clip of whatever tape it came from. But these are sometimes quite large in size, ranging from a few MB to 5+ GB.
What are these files and how are they made? Can I safely delete these or do they contain important information?Are you receiving this error message when you IMPORT or when you CAPTURE new material? If it's when you import already existing or captured material from another source, it usually means that one of the files you tried to import isn't supported by FCP.

How to save webi report created using InfoView into my local PC

I am creating a Web Intelligence document using infoview and once the report is ready, i want to save it in my local PC for later refresh. How can i save that using Infoview ? I don't want to save the report in the server(repository).

SureshAfter saving WebI reports to Local PC also, one can't see them COZ of .wid extension, to view them again we need WebI installed.
You can Save them to Excel or PDF or CSV to your local PC and Schedule them to get latest data as well.

How to list all reports created in webi - export to excel or print
We are using BO 3.1, is there a way to list all reports and print or export the information to excel? instead of navigating through each folder structure.

If you have auditing enabled in the environment, please login to InfoView and select "Folder --> Auditor --> en --> Document Information Detail' refresh this report it will give you the details you are looking for.
Then click on export into excel option.

No this isn't a question as to how to make a PDF from Indesign.
The two different export options that exist, Interactive and Print, have different options available. For example with a Print PDF (not to be confused with printing to a PDF writer) in CS5 you now can't include Interactive elements, you have a choice between Don't Include or Include Appearance. Dumb IMO. And with an Interactive PDF you can set the View and Layout defaults.
My question is: Is there any way to combine the useful bits from both dialogs? Where does one go to have a look at how Indesign is actually making the PDF? Or is it completely buried in the program itself? Is it possible to script? The only scripts I've seen (admittedly not many) still use Indesigns 'Export Adobe PDF' dialog box.
I tried to see if it would be possible modify the Interactive PDF joboptions file but it doesn't seem to have one, it definitely doesn't give you the option of saving one anyway. So the functionality that it offers seems to be unavailable to other ways of exporting.In this case it's the mommy Indesign... So who's the daddy? Gasp, I'm making b*****d PDFs!
No, you're simply observing the process of parthenogenesis (if you're of a scientific, aetheistical bent). Or, possibly, you're simply observing the miracle of virgin birth (if not). No PDFs need be insulted by claims of, ah, inadequate parentage, in this situation. -
I have a Google nexus 7 android jelly bean. I have several scanned in PDF forms that I need to be able to fill out in the field. How do I do this or what program do I need. Presen rt lay viewing them with acrobat reader. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advanced

You cannot directly start filling scanned/paper forms in Adobe Reader on android. For that, you first need to convert your scanned/paper forms to fill-able forms using Adobe Acrobat (win/mac version). I created a form for our band parents to fill out. How are they able to save the forms as pdfs and be able to go back and view them? I see the Save Submission-Enabled PDF on the Distribution page but there is no option when they go in to the first page of the form to save.
Thank you very much for your help.If you are distributing a PDF using the save submission enabled pdf option, then respondents can save it using the Adobe Reader. They save it just like any other file - File menu -> save (or save icon on toolbar).

How do you apply the same password policy to every PDF document you create with inDesign?

I don't know if this is really supported with inDesign 5.5, but here is my my use case:
I constantly create more than 10 PDFs a day using inDesign
On all PDF's I create, i want to apply password security to protect them
But in order to do so, within inDesign, I am always forced to go to the "security dialogue" pane to set up the same permission and passwords over and over again
This gets tiring :/
So what I am hoping to do is the following:
Like acrobat, I want to create a password policy within inDesign
I want all PDFs created to have such a password policy be automatically applied
I know acrobat supports something like this (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7d68.w.h tml), but, unless I may have missed something, the Acrobat feature is limited. That is, the help link does not tell me how to automatically do this with Acrobat either (the link does not explain to me how to "automatically apply the same password security policy to every PDF document I save within the application). I think the only way to do so is via "Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management ES", but for non server users, I am hoping there is another way.
So my questions are:
Is it possible to create password security policies in inDesign?
Is it possible to apply the same password security policy to every PDF i create in inDesign?
If not, can I change default settings within Acrobat ProX to automatically apply a password security policy everytime I save a PDF?
If all fails, do you guys know of any extensions that can support this?

Bummer. I kinda had a hunch at this inDesign limitation.
I have been aware of the method for setting up of a security policy within Acrobat. While this feature does cut down some of the work involved in creating and applying password policies to pdfs, what I am looking for with Acrobat is to apply the same password policy to every document I save from the app. Automatically. Without having to manualy select a policy.
I think my solution will have to lie in me creating some sort of script to help support this need. I don't think Acrobat Pro X has the capabilities to allow me to tinker with, say, creating a save PDF preset that will allow me to automatically apply a password policy.
PS. I am using acrobat pro x. -
How to delete duplicate reports in Discoverer created by APPS?
I am a functional anyalst and new to Discoverer. I have created several reports in Disco Plus and some how users are seeing duplicate reports, one under my name and two under APPS. I'm not sure how this happened. I suspect it may have happened when copying the EUL's related to the reports. The EUL's are all owned by APPS. I can not delete the reports since I'm not the owner. I've asked our DBA to search for the reports but he was not able to find them. How can we find these reports created by APPS and delete them? Thanks for any help.
