How assigning a c++ string to jcharArray???

Hello I�m having some problems with assigning c++ string to a jcharArray, my native code looks something like this (a lot more, but this is where it goes wrong):
JNIEXPORT void JNICALL
Java_LoadData_Core(JNIEnv *env, jobject obj,  jcharArray name)
char *point="adam";
env->SetCharArrayRegion(name, 0, 5, (jchar*)point);
I�m allocating name in the java-program, and when I�m returning to the java-program and tries to print the array name it only prints five: "?????".
Does anyone know how to do this the right way???

You can't just move C characters into a java array and hope for the best. If you read the description of SetCharArrayRegion, you will see that for input it expects a jCharArray. So that's what you have to construct to define input to the region.
I'm not sure what you are really trying to do. Your example shows you attempting to assign a string value, and not, in fact, an array of characters. (I am aware that they are the same in C: excpt for the trailing null.)
A much more java-like way to handle this would be to define a native function that returns a - java - string, and use the NewString call to create one.
