How can I create a filter that automatically copies sent items to other folder than "sent" folder?

I tried to create filter which automatically copies sent to different recipients messages to other folder than "sent". I tried many times with different setting but it doesn't work. With inbox messages it works fine.

If you want to 'reply' to an email, but you want the sent reply to auto appear in the same folder of the message you are replying to.
Tools > Account Settings > Copies & folders for the mail account
There is a checkbox to select: 'Place replies on the folder of the message being replied to'
then click on OK to save changes.
If you want all sent emails not just replies to got to different fodlers based on who you sent the email to, then you would need to create a filter which when manually run moves selected emails to specific folders.
So let the sent emails get auto stored in Sent folder.
Tools > Message Filter
click on New
give filter suitable name
Apply filter when: manually run
select 'match all of the following'
To is email address
Perform these actions
Move message to and select the folder.
Do not enable.
When you need to run this filter,
open Message filter.
enable only the filters you require
Run selected filters on: Sent folder on the mail account
click on 'run now'
Best used when you have several sent emails which you need moving.
Not exactly what you are looking for, but works if organising loads of sent emails.

On my previous Mac (long, sad story) I had Office for Mac and liked it a lot. I was collaberating on some fairly complex legal documents, and never noticed any compatibility problems with Windows Office. That said, it is expensive. For most documents, I simply open the Word document in Pages and export it to Word when I am finished. I sometimes get the message that there is a missing font, but the computer uses a substitute that is quite acceptable. I have never had someone say that they had difficulty with a document I exported to Word.
Numbers and Excel aren't as compatible in my experience, and I have gotten some surprises when I hadn't tweaked the settings properly when exporting to Excel.
The other component of iWork is Keynote, and I like it much better than Powerpoint; to me it is just easier to use. I have never tried converting back and forth between Keynote and Powerpoint.
Depending on what grade your kids are in and what they are doing, I think I would start off with iWork and see what, if any, problems they encounter. Of course, if they are going to use the computer for a class in Office or its components, your kids are going to need a Windows machine with Windows Office, because Office for Mac is enough different that when the teacher says, "Now, move your mouse here and click on....", your kids are going to be lost.

If you are talking about a RULE then the "Perform the following actions:" would be to select "Move Message" to mailbox "Junk" instead of "Delete Message."

There are two things we use the name "Slideshow" for in Aperture: a Slideshow Album, used for making Slideshows, and the Slideshow that is made. (Imho, it is a design mistake to not call the containers used to create Slideshows, Books, etc., "Albums".)
The Slideshow will use the Album Pick from any Stack. A good way to use Aperture is to promote the Image you want to regularly use (such as, for example, a Version with adjustments) to the top of the Stack. This makes it the Stack Pick, and will be the default Album Pick. If you haven't done that, you can still change the Album Pick for any Stack in a Slideshow Album. Expand your Stack(s), select the Image in each Stack that you want to be the Album Pick (and thus shown in the Slideshow), and "Stacks➞Set Album Pick". (Note the keyboard shortcut; there is also a Toolbar icon for this.) The change is immediate. The Slideshow will always show the Album Pick (or, if there is not one, the Stack Pick) for every Stack in your Slideshow Album.

How can I create a fIlter to delete only "junk" from the server?

One of my E-mail accounts is that of a major client. I handle their customer service online. Normally our protocol is to always leave all messages on the server, so for that one Thunderbird account, I have it set to never delete messages on the server.
But the account recently started getting a lot of junk messages. Thunderbird is doing a remarkable job at marking those and placing them in the junk folder for that account. I would like to create a filter that could remove them from the server, preferably those more than "x" days old so I could monitor the activity to be sure that no important message are removed.
I did notice that in "Filters" I can create a custom filter from a header of my choice, but can't seem to create what I want which is:
- after mail is marked as Junk by Thunderbird to delete those messages from the server if they are older than "X" days (my choice of "X").
- not delete any other messages from the server for that account

I believe that did it! Thank you. I am running those changes on a secondary E-Mail address for the same job and server and it appears to be working properly.

I am trying to create a filter so that on a sales report I can have a Year to Date figure and then the last 4 weeks shown. So far I have tried to creat a filter that shows current week number - 4 but this does not show the correct weeks.
Any Ideas?

You don't mention if there is a Universe involved or not, but if there were then you could create some objects that calculate measures based on a timeframe. For instance, if you have a date field (date_fld) and a measure (x) in your database then you could create a measure such as:
case when <date_fld> between getdate()-28 and getdate() then sum(x) else 0 end
(the SQL code I'm using is in MS SQL server, so you may need to adapt if you're using a different DBMS).
The key to dealing with the date field is in substracing 28 (i.e. 28 days), so any time that this report would run and include the above coding it would be a 28-day lookback.

I have tried to use the simple image widget with maximize upon tap/click - however I am can only size the image really small and put on the page. I'd prefer to have a graphic that when clicked it simply opens up the image. This is for a very simple question/answer book. The user is suppose to look at a picture and locate something. I want to put an 'Answer' graphic on the image and then the user can click the 'answer' graphic and it will open up the picture with the answer identified.

Have yiu tried the PopOver widget? You can drop an image into it, maximise the image and the widgets window...But, you cannot get it full screen.
With iBooks Author, you either learn to use what is available within the app, or look online for third party widgets to purchase which suit your project.

Hello! I am setting up a filter to catch messages with GG in the subject. Sometimes this will be at the beginning of the subject (no space at the front) and other times it will be somewhere in the middle. The problem I'm having is that this filter catches any word with "gg" in it, like "logged" or "baggage" (one of my customers has baggage in their name, but their messages should not be caught by this filter). How can I make this work? Thank you for your time!

I think FiltaQuilla might be useful. It adds so-called Regular Expressions to the filter system, where you could use a construction like:
"subject regex" "matches" "/\bgg\b/i"
\b means a word boundary
gg is your two letters
\b is the trailing word boundary
/ and /i mean ignore the case, so it'll find gg, GG, Gg and gG.
There lots of ways of doing this. You could have
[ ]GG[ ]
where it would require a space (explicitly; nothing else!) before and after, and capital letters. \b is usually superior as it matches at the beginning and end of the line, and recognizes regular punctuation in addition to spaces.

How can I create a subVI that has state?

I'm trying to simplify a VI that I inherited and I noticed a recurring pattern that IMHO should be a subVI. The pattern is that we have a digital output line that is controlled by a timer. Each output has a start time for it to activate and a duration after which it is turned off. When the state changes, a single line entry is added to a common log file and an indicator shared variable is set so that the remote host VI updates. We have a big while loop that checks the current time against each of the activation conditions. To detect when the state has changed, we're using a shift register (for each actuator). It's one thing to see the same pattern 3 times, but it's worse -- we want to sometimes use a different number of actuators. If I was writing this in C++ (with which I'm far more comfortable than LabView), I'd write a class for the actuator and instantiate it N times. The class would have member data to keep track of its state. I can create a subVI that does the meat of the design pattern, but I can't figure out how to store the previous state in the subVI without requiring it to be passed in. How do I keep the state and behavior of a VI together? Surely there's a way to do this because otherwise I can't see how you could implement state-ful algorithms like, say, a PID controller. But I'm at a loss to figure it out ...

To save state in a subVI and not use that state in other subVI calls, make the subVI reentrant. When a subVI that is reentrant is called it creates a unique memory space for that subVI. This is called a clone. That memory space is where state is held for that subVI. Keep in mind that it also means that the memory footprint is going to be larger.
To set a subVI to be reentrant, open it and go to File -> VI Properties and select execution. It will be a choice on the bottom left.

To create a OneStep DVD:
Connect your DV camcorder to your computer and set the camera to VTR, VCR, or Play mode. Turn on your camcorder if it doesn't turn on automatically.
Open iDVD and click the OneStep DVD button. (If iDVD opens to a recent project, choose File > OneStep DVD.)
Insert a recordable DVD disc.
iDVD rewinds the tape in the video camera and captures the video.

Choose File > "OneStep DVD from Movie."
Locate the movie you want to add in the dialog that opens, then click Import.
Insert a blank DVD disc into the optical drive.
This kind of disc is sometimes called "kiosk mode" and is a good way to create demos or other presentations that play automatically and require no user interaction.

How can I create a playlist that syncs with my ipod touch 5 that plays both podcasts and music? Before updating to itunes 11 I was able to do it and now it seems that the power is gone. (I do not have the podcast app on my ipod touch 5)

When apple first introduced the podcast app for my iphone I discovered that installing it took away the option to have a playlist (smart playlist or regular) that mixed music, audiobooks and podcasts. I therefore quickly uninstalled it and was happy to have my iOS devices happily mixing music and podcasts.
With the push to itunes 11.1 and iOS 7 on my ipod Touch and ipad mini I no longer have mixed playlists. I do see (according to itunes) that the podcasts are copied to my devices but there doesn't seem any way to play them. Nor do my mixed format playlists contain them.
When combined with the change to the podcast tab in itunes that shows all available by default and doesn't seem to offer any way to Turn it OFF so I can easily see what new unlistened to podcasts exist it seems that the way I got used to using my itunes since my ipod nano first generation has been eliminated. I haven't read why so if someone could point me to their logic on how come I would want the changes they keep trying to force on me I would at least understand their motives.
If no one has a better fix I have discovered that I can declare the podcasts to be audiobooks and get them to play that way. One downside to that approach is that it doesn't clear them out of the podcast folder thanks to the change to the iCloud friendly format or whatever they were hoping for.

I have a lot of classes that I teach. I have created an email contact list for all of my individual classes, which I would like to create a single fitler for each of these list, in order to put them into a corresponding folder. It would save me a lot of drag and drop and checking, in which class my student is to create a filter for that student. I have ten classes with about 25 students each... So that would save me a huge amount of time!

Hi there,
I'm trying to create an action that will use "Find and replace" to change certain words and phrases in my .psd-files. These are words and phrases I change a lot (I'm translating emails and website banners) and I would like to speed up that process using actions.
When I tried to create the action I got the error message "The object "in contents of all text layers" is not currently available".
Then I tried "insert menu items" and chose "Find and replace" and then did my change, but then it stopped when the FAR-window popped up. That's what I want to skip, so it just changes my words and phrases that I want.
Is this possible?

Anyway, in the Script in that other thread the function replaceText takes two Strings, so something like

would be a possibility.
