we have a feature where customers can upload there files, we use portals for uploading files, form which has the file type is posted to a stored procedure and which in turns calls the wwv_things.saveitem.
we need to restrict a file size and file type for the uploading files, I can restrict the file type with javasript but wanted to find out if oracle portals has any way to restrict the uploading file size,

Assuming you are using uiXML - check out the "Multipart requests" section in the JavaDoc for the oracle.cabo.servlet.AbstractPageBroker. The gist of it is that you'll want to create an extension of UIXPageBroker which overrides doUploadFile() and uses the MultipartFormItem API to get at the contents of the uploaded file.
If you are using UIX JSP, you can use the oracle.cabo.share.util.MutlipartFormHandler to explicitly process your multipart requests.
And of course, you'll want to include a fileUpload component in your UIX document - and be sure to set the "usesUpload" attribute of your UIX form to true.

I have created a website for a client who wants to be able to add any new information to his articles without having to go through me again.
How does he do this?
I have added all permissions to him as a user. I know how he can edit existing information on the website, but not to add anything new.

Hi Tanya,
At this stage this is not possible out of the box in Muse to add the articles, you only can edit them using the in browser editing. To be able to add something without involving Muse, you will need to use a CMS system like business catalyst, where you can setup modules like blogs or news items for your client and they can add them from the back-end itself, which will reflect instantly on the site.
Since, this feature is not there in Muse at current stage, I will recommend that you post this on our ideas section over here, https://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas, and let our devs team know of this requirement.

I am uploading customer(XD01) records using BDC caltransaction method.my problem is when i am running the program, some times my program is not updating the records because of my flat file errors. after i correcting the error records and if i run the same program already updated records not processing. my program not running. what i need to do? how can i handle the flat file for reprocessing the error records?
i have around 50,000 records in my flat file.

your program accepts a flat file say the structure of it is structure_load and you create another structure similar to structure_load and name it structure_error.
loop at itab_load.
call transactions...

commit work and wait X sec.

move-corresponding field to structure_error
append structure_error.

write the file stru_error to PC or app server and make the changes to the data and use the str_error as input to your code again..

of course notepad.exe is closed again as soon as the operating system has completed the process of loading its content into memory...
And no "event" is fired when that happens, except maybe internal to the process that loaded the application to indicate that it's been loaded successfully and can now be executed.
But there's no way your Java process is ever going to receive that notification.

As a video professional, i agree and am VERY disappointed with this policy. I attended CC presentations at various conventions, film festivals and meetups for a year-and-a-half before I made the leap to CC, and no one EVER mentioned a restriction to transferring video files.
Whether it's to save storage space or not, that's how it APPEARS to the end user. Anybody who knows ANYthing about how video pirates commit their crime (which it most-certainly is), knows that there are plenty of FREE, untraceable (or nearly-anonymous) resources to carry it out. The need for anyone to pay $30 or more per-month to do it with an acct that has their info attached to it is ludicrous! If anything it's CONTRIBUTING to piracy to encourage creatives to transfer their material to collaborative parties using a less-secure, more heavily-trafficked third-party service than the one they're paying for exclusive use for.
Adobe's policy makers need to review this restriction and remove it or provide ANOTHER reason why it exists because this one doesn't fly. And if it continues, make sure a disclaimer gets inserted in CC pitch presentations because likely half of the attendees are working with video.

HT4859 Can't access my files uploaded to iCloud, yet iCloud shows 2 out of 5 gigs used. How can I access my files?

I recently had an issues with my old iPhone 4s. I took it in to the apple store but the night before made sure I backed up my files to iCloud. After doing so I made sure my files were backed up because it went from 0 of 5 gigs to 2 of 5 gigs used. When I got my new phone, also an 4s, I tried to recover my contacts and pictures from iCloud, yet nothing happened. When I logged into icloud.com it shows no old contacts, actually none at all. I also can't figure out how to access my old pictures and files on icloud.com. When I go to icloud's settings on my iPhone it clearly shows 2 gigs of files yet when I try to restore the files to my new phone nothing actually gets added to the new phone. How can I access these files???? Anyone have any idea??

just tried restoring from backup and it didn't list it as one of the backup options after i wipe out the iphone yet for some reason it shows up when i go through settings>>>manage storage. thanks anyway. i may have to bite the bullet and sit and wait for a few hours at the apple store, argh...

Could you please confirm the error message you are getting and whether it is while adding domain in File > Export as HTML or File > Upload to FTP host option or if there is a different location you are referring to?
I checked and both the Export and Upload to FTP options both accept the accented characters in domain name field.

how can we handle browser settings while dealing with the security ?When we configured security in web.xml , during the first request the container is asking for the authentication credentials once they are provided it go's on. but when the user gives a fresh request from the second window within the same browser that time it is not asking for authentication. How can we overcome this.Is there anything to do with server configurations?

Ya... I am taking a small example need not happen always but a kind of possibility i am thinking off.
once the user sign out and just left without closing the browser and a friend (suppose not a good friend ... just kidding...) of that user may open the same jsp or file .This time the security is breached. If that feature or property exists....
I know what you might say ... the user will log-out before leaving where a programer might invalidate the session at the time of log out.
Consider the case of a bad Programing or just a programer might forget to invalidate,At that time as a application administrator how can he solve that issue.

Yes you can definitely do this. You'll need an app on the iPad that handles PDF viewing and editing. There are many around - two of the best I've seen are GoodReader and PDF Expert.
In iTunes when you iPad is connected to your PC, go to the Apps tab and scroll down and you'll see the File Sharing section. You can drag files to there to share them to your iPad.
You could also look at online file sync services like PDF to ePub Maker if you prefer not to have to connect your iPad to a PC

I downloaded this app called CHM+ Lite.. Launch the app and Click the "+" Sign on the top right corner
You will see an address like : 192.168.1.100:8080
Type this in your browser on your computer. You will be able to upload the file directly into the app.
