ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

    Help. Please. Thank you.

Your particular model can handle up to 16GB of RAM - I would suggest at least 8GB as the 'sweet spot' for current and future versions of OS X.
You could also upgrade to a SSD to see a real speed increase - see -> Upgrading Your MacBook Pro with a Solid State Drive.
Both of these upgrades are jobs that you can DIY. There are tons of videos online showing you how to install both. No need for the pros - just two screwdrivers and you can accomplish the upgrades.
    Good luck,

Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation.  TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible;  Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided.  Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc.  Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Backuplist
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    iBackup
    JaBack
    Silver Keeper
    MimMac
    Retrospect
    Super Flexible File Synchronizer
    SuperDuper!
    Synchronize Pro! X
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
You may need to consider adding more RAM.  How much RAM is presently installed?  It would also help to include this information in your forum profile.

  • How can I make my MacBook Pro wake up faster?

Dear all, I have a MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2012. It is awfully slow when waking up after being in sleep mode for a long time (> 1 h). I read that other people here in the community are having the same trouble, and that it seems to be related to the standby mode (my computer does not have Power Nap). In the threads, I saw a variety of suggestions, poiting in different directions. Is there an "official" solution to this issue? Thank you very much for the attention.

    Back up all data.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Choose the standby delay. In the example below, I use 28,800 seconds, which is 8 hours, Modify as desired. To disable standby mode, use 0.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then drag or copy into the Terminal window — do not type — and press return:
    sudo pmset –a standbydelay 28800
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
After entering the command, quit Terminal.

  • Will more RAM make my Macbook Pro run faster/smoother?

I've been scowering the internet for information about the best way to improve the performance of my Macbook Pro. Not sure who to listen to.
    Here's my situation:
I have MacKeeper, which I run to rid my pc of extra files and junk.
I am running Parallels 9 and Windows 7 Ultimate (which I use daily for work purposes).
I more often than not run many programs simultaneously (which I think is the reason for its lag).
I am contemplating purchasing the max amount of RAM possible for my computer. Not sure what that is. 16GB, I think.
    Hardware Overview:
Model Name:          MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009)
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro5,5
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2.26 GHz
      Number of Processors:          1
      Total Number of Cores:          2
      L2 Cache:          3 MB
      Memory:          5 GB
      Bus Speed:          1.07 GHz

Get rid of MacKeeper if you wish to improve performance: How to Remove MacKeeper. You can install up to:
    Maximum Memory
    8.0 GB
    Memory Slots
    2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
You do not have sufficient memory to run OS X and Parallels w/Windows. A minimum of 8 GBs is required for decent performance.

  • How can I make Final Cut X run faster on MBP 13?

    Hi all,
I have a Macbook Pro 13inch Early 2011, 320 HD, OSX 10.8.3 2.3 GHz with 4 GB of memory. I use Final Cut X about once a week for editing, but it's literally frying my laptop. When I open it, I can't have any programs running. FC and my laptop become slow and unresponsive about once every ten minutes. I save all of my projects on my external HD and I have the background rendering turned off. Is there any solution for FC being this slow? I'm doing the editing to save up for a 15 inch MBP, but for now I have to use my 13inch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At a minimum, increase your RAM to 8 GB.
Put your events and projects on an external Thunderbolt or Firewire 7200 RPM drive.
Maintain at least 25% free space on your boot drive.
    Use proxy clips.

That depends on your computer; best ask in the shop where you bought it.
How much do you need?  The more, the better.  I have only 4GB, and my Photoshop works decently well (for the limited tasks I use it for).  If you use it heavily, probably 8GB or 16GB would be better.
However, you can only use this memory if you use
    the 64-bit edition of Windows
    the 64-bit edition of Photoshop
Unfortunately you cannot upgrade 32-bit Windows to 64-bit Windows; you need to install it from scratch.

Your issue may not have anything to do with your files, it could be a corrupted cache file, reinstalling your OS and files from backup could be overkill and too much work.
Run ALL of the free OnyX's checks, cleaning and maintainence aspects (not the log files) and reboot at the end.
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/
Your machine will act a bit slow until the caches and spotlight are rebuilt, but it should act faster
Your next step is to use OnyX Verify Preferences and "show only corrupt plist" files
If you find some, make a note of their location and remove then to your desktop and reboot and start the programs responsible, reset your preferences.

How can i change my macbook pro keyboard buttom english to arabic

Apple does make and sell MacBook Pros with Arabic keyboards but, as far as I know, they're only sold in the Arabic market. You may be able to special order one: I don't know. You may even be able to order the keyboard only online or at your local Apple Store and have your English keyboard replaced. Again, I don't know.
The best thing to do, if you're in the US, is to call Apple at 1-800-MYAPPLE. Tell them what you need and see how they might go about fulfilling your needs.
