How can I package a SW?
I'm now developing SVR 4 package of GNU SW on Intel Solaris 8. I want to use Class "none" in the same way of Solaris 8 Companion CD - They have zipped file "none" in archive directory and class action script "i.none" in install directory.
I'd like to know the key technique of distributing SVR 4 package in the compressed format.
Any kind of experience you had will be helpful to me.
Thanks

How can I package the "map utility" program from the canon 6D for someone to view the shot locations and shots?
I may understand your point wrong but if you turn on GPS on the 6D, your client can view your photo location easily. Site like Flickr supports GPS (if you don't remove it) or software like Picasa, Geotag, Geosetter, Lightroom, etc.

Hello
I have "n" applications that uses common classes.
For example :
Application 1
servlet 1
jsp page 1
jsp page 2
bean 1 <----- its common
bean 2
ejb 1
Application 2
servlet 2
jsp page 3
bean 1 <----- its common
ejb 2
How can I package this application.
When I put "bean 1" in each war application, the ClassCastException appears.
Thanks in advance
java.lang.ClassLoader is the abstract base class.
WebLogic docs mention ClassLoader issues in several places; I would suggest
searching on "ClassLoader".

How can I package my InDesign file without converting the images to CMYK?
I had previously thought I have to convert each link individually, but I have received packaged files that include both RGB and CMYK images, but when I try to package my document, it is saying that I have errors on all the RGB images. Are there settings that allow me to package the links without conversion? I know how to export it with a one-time conversion, but I cannot find the answer to this question anywhere.
Thank you for helping! I must be doing something else wrong then because it will stop packaging as soon as it tries to get the links... and will gather a few and then stop. The warning message is "could not copy linked files" but I don't have any warning signs on any of my links in the links panel...

Applet or web-start? How can I package a memory intensive app?
Dear All,
I'm new here - I'm learning about Java with a particular project in mind, and looking for advice from people with more experience before I start coding! Your opinions would be very useful.
I would like to write a small scientific application, to be distributed by the web, easy to run as a normal user (without administrator rights), with a good GUI. So Java sounds very good for this. However, the application will be very memory intensive (and quite CPU intensive) with several large arrays. It may require ~1 to 2 Gb of memory at times. I have three simple questions:
1) If I write it as an applet, will my users hit memory 'heap size' limits when they try and run it if it tries to use ~1 Gb memory? Can I control this?
2) If I write it using JNLP (e.g. Sun's Java Web-Start), will my users get memory limit errors if my application tries to use ~1 Gb memory? Can I control this?
3) If more and more people start using the Java browser plugin, will they get Web-Start installed at the same time? Or will Web-start become less common?
Any other advice about this choice, problems with web-start or resource hungry applets would also be gratefully received.
With thanks and best regards,
andy_g
(PS: I'm not worried about the performance of Java compared to other languages - I'm worried about hitting memory limits imposed by the JVM settings or Java language!)Hi ChuckBing,
Thanks for your reply - it's given me some valuable information. In light of your post I think I'm going to try a very simple test code which does some simple operations with representative big arrays and see if I can get that working well on a range of machines before I spend time writing the real thing. I hadn't appreciated the need for contiguous memory in the Java heap.
As for comparing JNLP and applet memory control, after another intensive bout of google searching, I found more information about controlling heap size for applets at:
https://jdk6.dev.java.net/plugin2/jnlp/
From my (novice) reading of this page, it seems that from 1.6 you can now control the heap available to an applet in a similar manner to JNLP. I've added this link in case other people stumble across this post with a similar questions about applet memory limits.
Thanks again,
andy_g -
How can I package an HTML5 panel from the command line?
I am able to use the Eclipse Extension Builder plugin to export a ZXP file, but for our build process we will need to do this from the command line. Is this possible?
Edit: Adobe has fixed the links and the downloads are now available.
The links to the Windows downloads do not seem to be active anymore. Is there somewhere else we can get these?

NetBeans 5.5. + layout - how can I make a jar?
1. I try to build my application.
2. I've developed it in NetBeans 5.5
3. I ve used form as a base for my GUI
4. I've made application with help of GUIBuilder+some swing components I create dynamically during program execution.
The problem:
I can't make runnable JAR.
When I try to launch project.jar form folder /dist I get message:
"No main class found"
I need to have these jars (they are in my project's library section:
1.swing-layout-1.0.1.jar
2. AbsoluteLayout.jar
I found a solution:
How can I package the swing-layout-version.jar library
into my application JAR?
Having developed your Swing application in Matisse (using the "Free Design" layout) you can
package the required swing-layout-version.jar library inside your application JAR file.
Requirements:
● Standard Java project
● Swing Layout Extensions library included in your project's classpath
Open your project's build.xml from the Files tab and insert this:
<target name="-post-jar">
<jar update="true" destfile="${dist.jar}">
<zipfileset src="${libs.swing-layout.classpath}"/>
</jar>
</target>
Just press F11 to build your project as usual. This Ant target will bundle swing-layout.jar
inside your distribution JAR file.
You can adapt this Ant target to different requirements.
So I've inserted this code into my build.xml
Size of built project jar file increased.
I try to lauch it and I get no message. Nothing happens.
What else I have to do if I want to get distributable jar....?So I found a problem.
Jar with main class created using GUIBuilder (NetBeans) doesn't launch.
I use netbeans 5.5. + jdk 1.6.
If I launch jar with frame-based main class - everything works.
If I try to launch form-based main class - it doesn't work.
I do not get any error message or something like that.

I have installed Adobe Creative Cloud for teams CC Packages which says that Acrobat XI Pro is installed. Your support page says it does not install Acrobat and I have to look in the Extensions folder for an MSI file. I have run a number of searches and cannot find the Acrobat extension folder please advise how can I get these applications to load onto my computer?
Also I now administer the teams and have accepted the invitation to I received to be a team member and download the apps. The admin page shows that I have been sent an invitation but does not show my account as "ACtive" unlike my other team members. I tried to use the link in the invite to accept it become active but the link displayed an error saying I had already accepted the invite... why is no account not active?
Finally what other product downloads in Creative Cloud do not actually download as part of the Creative cloud Packager for downloading the apps? e.g. acrobat and what else?My apologies Eadeszoo I believe our support agents are unavailable on January 1.
Are you able to copy the contents of the DVD to your computer? Are you receiving any particular error messages when you are trying to install? Finally which operating system are you using? -
How Can I get all the values of a DBMS package?
Hi all
I'm using this "dbms_output.put_line(DBMS_DB_VERSION.VERSION || '.' ||DBMS_DB_VERSION.RELEASE);" to show the version. But how Can I get the all the values from DBMS_DB_VERSION ? Is there a common way ?
Thanks .
Best
LaurenceHi,
Don't think that's possible. Even if it were, you wouldn't be able to use/display BOOLEAN type in SQL.
If you just aim to see what they are, you could do something like this
select text
from all_source
where owner = 'SYS'
and name = 'DBMS_DB_VERSION'
and type = 'PACKAGE';Or even
select dbms_metadata.get_ddl('PACKAGE', 'DBMS_DB_VERSION', 'SYS') from dual;My version is:
SQL> select * from v$version where rownum = 1;

How can i remove iTunes 10.1.0.54 saying the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource...enter an alternate path to a folder contaning the installation package 'iTunes.msi'?
< Edited by Host >Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

How can i disply the error in my forms which occurs from plsql package
Dear all
i am using 10g forms.
i have a package and in the pkg i am reading data from flat file using UTL_FILE and comparing with what user input in the form .
If that does not match then it is raising errors . but how can i display those errors in my forms .
Let say in my PKG The error is "Account no does not match " . this error message i wnat to show in my Forms .
For the error i have created one block :error.err_dtl.
I want to show here in :error.err_dtl.Hello,
Several solutions:
You can write a procedure or a function in that package that returns a Boolean and/or an error message.
You can also, in your package, raise the RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(), then trap this error in the Forms calling code, via the DBMS_ERROR_CODE and DBMS_ERROR_TEXT variables.
